[Q] Cant get back to h-boot - HTC Sensation

Noob here.
Sorry for the cross post, posted in the worng section (Sensation Android Dev)
Was working through the S-Off, rooting procedure http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=16125286
Got as far as configuring the s-off mod, rebooted my device to install recovery v5.0.0.8, copied the file to the SD card, power down to hboot (vol -, power on) but it will not go to h-boot, just restarts everytime. Pulled battery, tried rebooting 15 different times, still will not go to h-boot.
Any ideas?

Hi,
On your phone,go to settings/power and have you unticked fastboot?

Restart the phone and when the screen turns black, hold the vol down button
Or remove the battery, insert and hold the vol down button
Then power on while holding that

And how's that supposed to help? His problem is most probably fastboot..

If the phone boots it will go into hboot. What you need to do is pull the battery out, wait 10 seconds. Put battery back in and first PRESS AND HOLD vol down button. Then keep the vol down pressed and at the same time press and hold power button.
You need to keep hold of the buttons for about 10 seconds

LOL, that was happenning to me recently (sometime yasterday). I thought that was it, the end of my Inspire, and I did VOL UP+POWER , I even trying to hook up to pc and redo the rooting, wouldn't work at on. Then google is my best friend , VOL DOWN+POWER got me back to Recovery mode, I will remember for the rest of my Android phone's life
that takes me into regular recovery not clockworkmod
Do you see an option that says Recovery after you get into hboot?

Also, make sure you don't have a PD98IMG file on the root of your SD card or it will always try to install that and not let you select recovery from the options. ( this happened to me multiple times before I realized what was going on.)

Recovery troubles

I'm trying to root my phone and every time the phone hangs at the hboot screen. So today I manually entered recovery pressing vol down and power. I wanted to do a factory reset and try rooting again since I already have the OTA installed. Once in recovery I cannot navigate with the volume buttons. I have to remove the battery to even restart the phone. Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with the phone?
are you mixing up cwm with the bootloader?

@OP:
When u come to HBOOT menu, give it ~20-30 seconds to be responsive. Then Press power button once or twice, and it should start responding.

Pressing the voldown and power button doesnt take you to recovery, thats hbooot, and why dont you just do a factory reset from the settings?

ICS won't boot

Alright, so I installed ICS (Several roms, etc) as well as their respective firmware (3.24). I need a new motherboard flex cable, which means I don't have a working power button (which is, of course out of stock) so I installed the firmware via fastboot flash (extracted the files, one at a time, etc) but when I go to start up the ICS, for example HyperNonSense, it goes into a continuous reboot cycle from the home screen. The ONLY file I didn't get to flash via flashboot was pg2fs_spcustom out of the firmware package, course I had to change the name of the hboot nb0 package.
is there anything I can do to get ICS on my phone? Or am I outta luck till I can find a ribbon cable so I can properly install the firmware, etc.?

i didn't get it man...you got a non-working power button right? but it isn't required to apply a new fw...right? to apply the fw you only have to put the PG58IMG.zip in the root of the sdcard and then reboot in bootloader via adb
You know, my phone used to recognize PG58IMG.zip files before and wouldn't be a problem, but I'm not really sure when it stopped doing that. Now if I adb reboot bootloader, I get to the bootloader and that's it. It doesn't bother to look for PG58IMG what would cause that, you think?

Really? How could it be possible? Your phone doesn't recognize PG58IMG. Zip anymore?

You have to be in the hboot screen to flash the PG58IMG file... Not in the fastboot mode... But if you reboot bootloader it will take you to fastboot mode and then you can't press power button to go into hboot screen... That's the problem I guess

LOL, that's kinda what I was thinking but I simply overlooked it more or less. I'll put a PG58IMG on the SD, boot into the bootloader and nothing. I thought I was supposed to boot into the bootloader, and then press the bootloader button? I know I can't select the fastboot option at the top.
I used to be able to update via PG58ING and the bootloader, but it was so long ago, and I thought I needed the power button to do that.
EDIT: saw your second post, and yeah that's it I'm assuming lol.
If only I could find a flex cable, but every where I've looked at it sold out.

Try adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot + hold vol down button that should take you in the right place! Oh don't forget to put the PG58IMG in the sdcard before

Or just adb reboot + vol down

Damn, so far it's just rebooting when I do fastboot reboot. Holding the volume down key before, during, after typing that it, all of them still just simply reboot, but thanks for the idea lol. Congrats on the 1,000th post

So even if you hold vol down when the phone is rebooting it doesn't take you to hboot screen? That's strange
When the phone is off and is going to get up you have to hold vol down

I thought you had to hold power + vol down as a constant, though? I just turned off buttonremapper and still the same results even with the stock button layout. I suppose I'll have better luck finding a flex cable lol. but seriously though thanks for trying to help a brother out

To get into bootloader hold vol- while holding the power button. Don't let go until it reboots. It will now be in bootloader

You need to let go of power, but keep holding vol down. If you don't let go of power, nothing will happen (except the phone shutting off).
The most surefire way (works in just about any situation) is to hold power and volume down. Don't let go of volume down until I say so later. The capacitive buttons will flash after about 5 seconds. Then the buttons will stop flashing, the screen will turn off (if it was on). After that, release the power button, but keep holding volume down until the white bootloader screen shows up.
If the screen turns on at all, the phone will always be able to go to bootloader. Failure to get into bootloader is almost always a matter of the user not performing the button sequence properly, rather than an issue with the phone.

Loop boot without a root. Help needed.

Suddenly my phone (z710e) jumped into a loop boot.
It's not rooted, no custom stuff, no custom bootloader.
It loads fine, but after 1-2 seconds reboots.
I've already tried to unbrick it with no result, computer can't see my phone.
Help with an advice or a link or anything useful will be great!
Thanks!

If i remember correctly you can wipe cache from the stock recovery. Boot into hboot by holding down volume down and power. Use the volume buttons to highlight recovery and press power. Then you will see a little android or a red exclamation in a triangle. Press the volume buttons and power until options appear on the screen. If it gives you wipe cache, them wipe it. Other wipe options may/will remove your personal data so use caution and know the risks

Okay, remove your battery then replace after 10 seconds. Then hold volume down first, then while volume down is still depressed begin holding power as well. If you see the htc splash screen then it has failed. Battery pull and try again. Have you ever used adb on this device?

Edit: removed incorrect data.

it doesn't matter if you have fastboot enabled
you can still have access to the bootloader when removing battery and putting it back

I've tried to remove battery and reboot before, nothing changed.
adb - no, did not used
Solution was - to disassemble it and assemble... After that phone booted normally. :victory:
