Not normal in general for the Inspire. I don't know what AR mods you might have installed, but they might be causing this. Try asking in the AR Q&A thread.
ok and it was like that before i installed any mod well thnx i will try to find a solution....

Well since i'm new and i can't post reply's in the ROM-thread yet, i'll post it here
Yesterday i flashed my Sensation to the InsertCoin 2.2.2 (Android 2.3.4) from Baadnewz. (off-topic: Awesome ROM mate, really smooth, incredibly fast and allot of options!!! i would recommend it to anyone planning to flash and root their Sensation.)
There is, however, one little problem i've encountered:
On top of the ROM i flashed an alternative battery logo wich shows percentage indication of the battery in the upper screen bar. Downloaded it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201255
The Honeycomb Style Battery with percentage while charging that is.
Now this also works fine, but after flashing it the Android Market Searchbar doesn't look like a searchbar anymore. It looks like a stretched version of my battery indicator logo... (i attached the screenshots below, sry for the poor quality.. don't have a creditcard so couldn't buy the full version)
Anyone familiar with this problem, or does someone know a solution???
in android-sdk/tools there is ddms.bat, run it with phone connected, then under Device->Scren capture menu there's a tool to take Screenshots for free
The battery mod you flashed is not made for 2.3.4 roms. I had the same problem yesterday. You will have to either deal with it or do without the battery mod you flashed.

Offtopic: I see you're using a task killer. You're only hurting your battery life and making the phone slower.
Off-topic: you can make a screenshot with power + home. Just saying

Yeah, you're probably using my mod, which until today, was not available or working for 2.3.4 roms. I have posted the one you're using in a 2.3.4 version, so if you go HERE then you'll be able to download the Honeycomb version for a 2.3.4 ROM, and it should work fine. Let me know if it doesn't.
@ idavid: dude you're awesome! Didn't know that :O
@ gbzbar: tnx for posting the link, i will try that one out can i just flash it on top off the battery-mod i allready have with the same CWM method?
@ everyone else: tnx for responding so fast, starting to eventually like this place alltough the intro-video about noobs did scare me off a little bit (while also finding it hilarious)

It's unfortunately everything with ICS. I spent quite a while getting things to work...eventually. Go back to 2.3.4. if you want fortunately, which is what I've done.
edit: e.g. unfortunately, chess pieces stutter when moving, gps map will only show up if you go to pull down curtain to reactivate.

Don't know whether you've tried virtuous 2.2.3 but it's as good, if not better than official XE rom. I compared it with a friend's XE. Only thing missing is the color red for me.
You'll need V13 kernel though. The one that comes with 2.2.3 is a bit off.
Actually i'm using 3.6.8, and i'm really exited to use 5.x.x but i have read that is not really stable at moment and with a lot of bugs, i'll wait too.
If you have crashes with a ROM, don't complain about it, just switch to another ROM that is more stable for you. don't waste people's time complaining about things, just use your imitative and change to a different ROM

Hello,
I have had a UK Vodafone Sensation for about a year and decided to get one that had been rooted to play with. I got it off ebay. It was really really good other than battery life ,,,, and then I spotted that the softkeys (the four buttons at the bottom of the phone) are permanently on ... unless I turn the phone right off.
When the phone arrived it had 4EXT with ICE and Sense and it was only come the evening of the second day I spotted why battery life was not good!! I tried various thing - Screen Filter, Juice Defender and other bits and pieces and then saw the AOKP Jelly Bean ROM and decided I'd start from scratch .. well almost. I'd also noticed that it said the phone type was Sensation XE.
I replaced 4EXT with CWM and flashed the AOKP Jelly Bean ROM. All went according to plan considering I'm a 63 year old noobie!! Well OK until I saw the softkeys were still illuminated all the time unless I turned the phone off. I'd got my apps and contacts on the SD card and installed the purchased version of APEX Pro that I'd been using on my non rooted phone. No amount of changes to anything I can thikn of turns them off ... but my phone does now say it's a SENSATION rather than a SENSATION XE.
I've run the battery flat and started afresh with it newly charged which has increased battery life but with these darn softkeys lit up it will never be good..
I have thought of taking it into a shop where they mainly deal with smashed screens all day long and see if it is possible to have the led backlight for the softkeys removed. I've looked at any amount of youtube videos and they all stop short of showing me the bit I want to see!! If the keys don't work afterwards its no drama as I can put 'Navigation' keys at the bottom of the screen from the ROM.
Any ideas anybody?? Your help and advice will be much appreciated.
Phil

Hi Ganeshp. I tired to install gscript lite when I was running ICS. I managed it this time by reading what it actually said to do!!! lol.
Unfortunately even though it seemed to install ok and I ran the scripts ok it wouldn't actually get fully running before saying it had stopped. It seems other had had a similar experience. I tried various reboots etc and it still wouldn't run which is a shame as it really looked like it was the answer.
Thanks again but unfortunately I'm still looking for an answser,
Phil
Would it have anything to do with kernel setup? Just a thought. I don't know enough to actually advise you, but your led issue may be linked to the kernel.
some roms have the option built in to disable the capacitive buttons backlight, by using tweaks. ViperS rom has it built in, or you could download LeeDroid/Darkforest tweaks in the dev section. theres an option in the tweaks to disable the backlight. give that a shot before having someone look at it

Hello and thanks for the last two replies, I'll check out LeeDroid Darkforest tweak and it would be good is somebody could describe the Tasker method in this topic, We're off on holiday for 3 weeks tomorrow and will be taking my old faithful Nokia N95 so if this isn't sorted by tmw I'll go back to it when I get back.

I've been trying a couple of things from elsewhere on this site and still no joy. Tried tasker and rootdim but still no joy.
I couldn't see how to download LeeDroid/Darkforest tweaks ... only saw the option to flash a new rom and I don't really want to do that. If I could download just the tweaks I'd be willing to try that but not the full package.
Tks again for your help ... holiday tomorrow and I think I'll have to leave this until after I come back.

LeeDroid tweaks and Darkforest tweaks are both for Sense 3.6 roms. ViperS is Sense 4 so these wouldnt work with that rom, but tweaks are already built in to it
LeeDroid= 3.32 base firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24535142&postcount=5
Darkforest= 3.33 base firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30132538&postcount=5
Can't you just do that by going into android settings and setting the backlight duration to never. OR You can install Total screen control from Android market. Go onto settings> softkeys backlight and click disable backlight. Then you have to select a screen filter value at which to disable softkeys backlight eg. 50% value. Your phone's backlight should turn off when your screen filter value is set to 50%. You have to be rooted for this to work.

Hello and thanks to all who have replied. I'm now back from holiday and have tried all the things mentioned in this thread and they are either not available for my phone or they install ok but don't do what it says on the box. I'm going to try the ViperS ROM now and see if the tweak it seems to have for turning on/off the capacative lights works.
Tks.
