Hi everyone.
I'm thinking of installing the FITDroid v3.2 ROM on my FIT (Have 2.3.4 Stock Rom with Root) but I have a question:
In the topic it says the I shoud flash it on the DEODEXED XXKPL ROM FIRMWARE (for better performance), my question is if I can install it since my phone has the XXKPG FIRMWARE.
I read the topic and one user recommended to another to update to XXKPL using Kies but I tried and it said that my phone can't update using Kies.

I think you have to flash original ROM (Froyo 2.1 perhaps??) AND unroot it to update with KIES.
THEN install Fitdroid v3.2
The Matter is the modified appearance to KIES.
Trie it this way: click

Thank's already installed the firmware.
But have another question, on the instructions to install FITDroid it says to use CWM Recovery (which I had before), but the firmware changed the recovery to another (I think it's the original) so my question is if I can install without CWM Recovery and how do I install CWM (the tutorials I found always replace the firmware).

No you cannot install custom ROM such as Fitdroid using the orginal recovery
First install the CWM using odin(You can Do this only if you have 2.3.x it will not work on froyo!)
and then flash the ROM
OK. Already installed CWM and FITDroid.
Just have one question about FITDroid, can I use SetCPU instead of No-Frills CPU Controller to change the frequencies (since SetCPU allows to create profiles)?

Yes you can use SetCPU also
But No frills allows to change I/O scheduler also which is not available in SetCPU
OK, one last thing I just have a problems with FITDroid, whice is sometimes the wireless doen't work properly.
It says that it's connected to my router but when I try to use a brownser, market, etc. it says that there isn't a connection and the only way I found to fix that is to reboot (Which fixes the problem temporarily since after a few hours the same happens). Does anyone know how to fix it or is it a bug on the ROM?
same problem for wifi ..its quite buggy i had experienced too much bug in fitdroid..took me days on flash and reflash , reboot

Why do i have to reflash stock rom if i am moving from a cyanogen mod rom to another custom rom(like fitdroid, janas etc)
And does that mean i have to re root the newly installed syock rom and re-install cmw?
Who said to reflash stock rom every time?
And NO you dont need to flash cwm every time, it will be always there until unless you flash a stock firmware.

If you flash a full stock rom then you need cwm/amon-ra for flashing custom rom...
Rooting is optional...
thanks guys
Btw,i think i read somewhere that you should be on stock gingerbread rom before installing stock based roms
Hi,
I have similar question. I have installed Creed rom 3.5 on my Fit. I would like to try JoyOS from here:
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704120
I think I know how to use CWM, based on instructions posted in that thread, but in there it says rom is: based on Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC1 1.2 by tj_style.
I know that CreeD rom is based on stock gingerbread, and in his neewb instructions it said I need to upgrade my phone from Froyo to GB first.
Now, I also have same doubt - do that I need to have Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC1 1.2 by tj_style installed on my phone prior to installing JoyOS. I'm pretty sure I do not (I can not even find thread for this rom), but I would like just confirmation, since I'm little scared that I could brick my phone.
Regards,
Petar
Bricking a g-fit is not easy, believe me
Since you are on creed's, you probably have cwm installed...
So you just need to flash the desired custom rom of your choice (in the same way as you installed creeds) and you are done...

Thanks (I pressed it already )
Also, In case someone else might come up to same question, I realized that you also need to use “mounts and storage”>”format /system” in case you are transfering from stock rom to cyanogen for the first time. best would be to follow youtube tutorial about it.

I tried many methods mentioned in Road map to install ICS rom. But no success.
Currently : I am at GB 2.3.6 UCLB3 with root and CWM V2.5.1.3

Hanging on the Samsung screen is normal when coming to AOKP from Gingerbread, you need to double flash here's how:
Flash the ROM like normal in CWM, when it reboots and you hang at the Samsung screen use the 3 finger method to get into Recovery (hold power & both Volume buttons). Once there go the Mounts and Storage option and format system, data, and cache...then reflash the ROM again (you may also have to flash the latest gapps if your not using an Aroma installer) reboot and you should be gtg.
it doesn't hang for me

How to Install - Coming from NON ICS Rom
Download Rom and latest Google Apps and enter recovery
Wipe/Factory Reset
Flash rom zip file
Reboot...will hang on kernel splash screen
Use three-button method to enter recovery mode
Go to mounts and storage and format system, data, and cache
Reflash rom
Flash Gapps
Reboot

Use Odin or Heimdall to get cwm recovery then follow the steps in the above posts. I think u might even b able to get cwm recovery via the ROM manager app but think that it isn't the recommended method.
When coming from GB, u have to flash twice. That's why u were stuck at the Samsung logo before.
All ics ROMs are flashed the same way so read through the first posts of dev threads. Although the instructions will b the same as provided above.
Edit: And don't try to use a different kernel right off the bat. The one provided with the ROM is usually provided bc it works best.

If u look in the "ISET Infuse everything" thread that's stickied in the dev section, there is Odin or Heimdall one click which both will give u cwm recovery.
I'm not familiar with entrophy's daily driver but I thought it was just a GB kernel, which is why it wouldn't work with that miui version bc it is ics.
Edit: I know most (and I believe all) ROMs will have a kernel packaged with them so u can just flash the ROM to get a working kernel. But bc it coming from GB, u need to follow the instructions provided above and flash twice. The reason I am saying use Odin is bc u said u have 3e recovery and I believe that u need to get cwm recovery first. I may b wrong about that tho.

Read post #4 and #6. That tells you how to flash a cm9 rom. I suggest, based only on my experience, flashing Entropy512's cm 9 build. Again, follow the instructions in post 4 and / or 6. I would not flash the current version of miui 4 as a new build will soon be posted. The instructions for flashing miui are in the OP.

Flash stock ROM again using ODIN by going to Download mode as said by xlm13x ...
Download the china stock ROM, it has all the three files the pda, modem and the csc. It also has the pit file. Flash on ODIN.
Once you do this your phone will definately boot up. Once this is done you can flash any country stock rom through ODIN.
It also happened to me once and the thing i just mentioned worked for me. So 100% sure on this.

The kernel version you quoted contains 'XWKI5' which is the code for Indian stock firmware.
For using Neo ROM you'll have to flash the XWLA (European stock firmware) on your Galaxy R & then flash the Neo ROM 3.0. And yes you can flash the stock firmware of any region it'll be compatible & won't create issues as long as you're flashing stock ROMs by Samsung for Galaxy R.
Do update here on how it goes.
Hope this helps

Yes you can reflash our Indian stock 2.3 5 ROM anytime you want, reset your custom firmware counter & claim warranty for your handset, be careful while doing the same cause if you screw up / miss some steps then you could loose your warranty.

Kernel v 1.8.3 is compatible with XWLA4 / XWKI5 (There could be some bugs with XWKI5 but there's no harm in trying as long as you follow the steps) can also be used with Neo ROM.
Try the newer version of his kernel here, it has been improved a lot since then: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787454
Before you start flashing any ROMs & kernels I would suggest you to read all the threads stickied in the Dev section, FAQ's & How To's in my signature below, if you haven't already done it & don't forget to take a nandroid backup.
It is to understand the various steps you need tu know to go about flashing kernels, ROMs, etc & also how to clear the counter to claim warranty.
Cheers !

Yes for Neo ROM, u have to flash Stock rom of XWLA4 via odin.It will not affect anything but u need to wipe data after flashing. So take a backup of all ur data and then flash it. Apart, it wont affect anything buddy. Yes u can revert back to Indian stock rom at any point of time.
And with kernel, Neo ROM by default has ardatdat kernel 1.8.1 and so u will get that kernel when u flash Neo ROM. After that u can flash ardatdat's kernel 1.8.3 as it has RAM hack and its better than its prev versions. Yes u can upgrade, better to say u can change the kernel at any point of time. Have a Happy Flashing.

The wifi problem is because you were on a value pack for 2.3.6, and if you root the device you can't use wifi unles you use bam kernel.
About CM, every ROM includes it's own kernel, so if you flash Dhiru's CM10 for example, this will come with it's own kernel and will install it automatically when you install the ROM. There are kernels for each Rom, so beware when you install a kernel on your Rom, first check if it's compatible. I think that's what you read about bam kernel, that is only compatible with Gingerbread.
PS: Please be more specific on the title next time

No, you have to flash it using CWM. Please follow the installation instructions given in CM10 from dhiru:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868074
You are on stock rom, so follow the stock rom steps. You can skip the root step if you already rooted it.
As an advice, I suggest you make a /efs folder backup. This folder from your phone keeps a lot of information about it. I had some problems with 3g and stuff, and recovering it helped me. Before doing anything please read some threads about flashing this device.
Good luck!
Hi guys,
I wanted to post that in the relevant topic on the dev forum but as I don't have 10 messages I can't.
Anyway it's just to let you know that I've flashed cocore 5.6.2 on a 9070p. As to now everything but USB mass storage write access on the internal SD works. Mass storage is ok on external SD (r/w) though.
Antutu scores 6883 and the phone feels much more responsive than before.
The upgrade path I followed was:
1/ install german XXLPD rom from sammobile using Odin
2/ root it using Shaaan's method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087424
3/ install deodexed rom from Agadoo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239129
4/ install Cocore 5.6.2 using the dd method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140597
not booting
hi. Can u give us a exact steps how to flash 9070 non P version cocore kernel 5.6.2,
because i just got my phone not booting.
Fortunately i revived it by flashing original kernel with odin.
Running for a couple of days now, phone feels more stable & responsive than stock JB Kernel
I flashed cocore 5.6.2.w/CWM recovery to 9070P using Universal Kernel Flasher by frapeti and it works OK.
maybe sth went wrong - just try again
when trying to flash kernel with universal kernel flash, i get error incompatile device. Is it still safe to flash it ?

try flashing via temp recovery or via terminal emulator then.
just flashed it through cwm. Got it working
