GO SMS PRO questions - Android Apps and Games

I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum.
I have GO SMS PRO and sent a MMS that I would have expected a reply to but didn't get one. When I look at the message (which details says was sent) there's a little flashing green arrow by it. I can't find what that means in the Help. I was on wifi when I sent it and wonder if that's a problem? I've been on 4G since then.
I have a DROID RAZR and am on Verizon if that matters. Thanks.

Usually GO SMS isn't good with sending MMS over wifi. That flashing arrow means its "trying" to send. Just go back on 3G/4G and send it again. It should work.

Thank you. That helps. I don't know why it can't send over wifi but knowing that's the problem I can easily switch back when sending MMS.
Thanks again.

No problem!!!!

How to use wifi setting?
How do I send messages via wifi opposed to using my 2G/4G phone service? I can't figure out how to change the settings!

It doesn't look like you can send multimedia or MMS messages using wifi. If you want to send pictures or other multimedia you will need to be on your "G" service. For text, or SMS, you can use either wifi or your "G".
If you want to toggle wifi and data on and off, you will want to use a widget. There are a number of them at the Market, such as Data Enabler and Wifi Toggle.
You may already have some on your phone. Long press on your home screen, choose Widget, and see if you have a toggle that will work.

Depending on the phone, GoSMS will have problems sending MMS through wifi. For awhile the HTC Evo wouldn't send MMS via wifi. I went back to GoSMS after they fixed that little issue. Email the developers of GoSMS.

So if I get a widget and turn wifi on, I will be able to send texts on Go SMS via wifi instead of my actual phone service plan?

I have noticed that if im on wifi go sms wont work right. As soon as I turn off wifi no problem (You cant send mms via wifi). The default app seems to trun off wifi briefly while it sends out mms. So I either turn of wifi when sending mms with go sms or just use the default app to send my mms.

Cannot dl mms w/ wifi

Why is it i cannot retrieve mms with wifi? I have to connect back to 4g before i can download a picture.

This isn't really an issue as much as it is just how the data network works. MMS messages are sent over ATT's network, so if you have data turned off, the data being sent/received basically runs into a wall because your phone doesn't technically exist on the data network. When you're on wifi, you're using your local area network (or wherever you're accessing it) for internet access. When you have 4G turned on, you're using ATT's data network to transfer data. Make sense?
Yes wifi is for broawing the internet and using apps that stream. You can recieve mms while on wifi. Also while on the phone. Unless you have your data turned off. It does not use the wifi to send recieve messages or calls. But the wifi does not prevent them from cominf throuh
Yea.. well the thing is i can get the message.. but when i click to download it i must be on 4g
sent from your moms house
And 4g still works when your on wifi. I know because im on wifi all the time and send recieve mms all the time. You had to have changed something mabye messed with apn settings. Thisis not.normal
The reason for that being the part your phone still gets is only an SMS that doesn't require data to send or receive. Essentially so regardless of having data on or off, the message is still sent through, but the actual data isn't being requested. To get the picture, or whatever it is your sending/receiving, data needs to be activated. That request is essentially automatic when data is on. (If you have auto receive on, of course.)

I think what he's saying is that he can have data and wifi on at the same time, but when he disables data (or "4G"), he can't receive MMS messages. Assuming to save battery life?

I guess lol. What you said is correct. But i think he.may be confused. You dont have to turn wifi off to recieve mms. Like i said something was changed.

I have this issue, mostly with group messages. The message comes with a download button and message expiration date. Dowload would fail. Wifi/4G on, so hpw do you explain this? The messages would then automatically download when it wants to.

Already checked. Although, I just noticed that this is happening when I'm on my 3G MicroCell. I tested this by disconnecting the MicroCell to get onto the AT&T cell tower and the message downloaded.

That's probably your answer. When "it decides to" is probably when it manages to hop onto an ATT tower to receive everything like it's supposed to.

I receive the same "Download" option when my brother sends me an MMS from his iPhone. Once I click download, I then receive this statement:
One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal.
It's a regular photo taken from his iPhone which doesn't make sense. I also have tried it while 4G was active and while on the WiFi network at the house. Data packets are also enabled and the MMS is configured to auto-retrieve. Hopefully I'll have time to go to the AT&T store and see if they can fix the issue. It is consistent when he tries to send me a photo and it's not being sent from his phone as a group MMS. I can send him photos from the Skyrocket though and I can send myself a photo from my Skyrocket to my own number.
My friend whos on Verizon tells me the same thing, he has this download issues too. It must be an Android thibg since ive never had this issue with any of the iPhones, regardless if its on at&t tower or the MicroCell.

Using JuiceDefender Extreme I have set Visual Voicemail to always use the data connection only and have had no problems since, perhaps something else can happen for mms? I haven't had any issue with MMS not being delivered when on WiFi but JuiceDefender takes care of that for me.

Nexus 5 Not Sending/Receiving MMS

Hey guys,
So I just got my Nexus 5 about a week ago, and love it so far. I immediately downloaded 8sms because it seems like Hangouts is still a work in progress.. Anyway, for some reason my phone will not auto-retrieve MMS messages. I've tried changing the MMSC values within the app and restarting it, but it hasn't helped.
I usually keep Mobile Data set to off, as I'm usually at school/work and both have secure WiFi.
My old HTC Desire HD was able to automatically turn data on momentarily to receive MMS, then shut off. This was a stock feature of the phone. Is this not the case with the Nexus 5? I don't want to have to go and turn on mobile data every time a MMS notification pops up; it just seems stupid to have to.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!
Turn mobile data on!

I guess it is a good thing to have but if every app could turn on data when they wanted and download anything then it would defeat the point of having data off. I agree with you though that in that situation it should automatically download.
With that said, some custom ROMs have this feature but it's not included in stock Android. When data is manually disabled by the user i'd expect it to stay off however for anything.
Does the automatically download mms feature not let the data turn on to download the message?

The problem is, I've tried just running around with mobile data on, and wifi on, but it still will not download the MMS messages. I have to manually turn off wifi, and then it will switch to data and download the MMS...
Try smart messenger or textra or Hangouts it could be a issue with the texting app

I might try going to my carrier to see if there's a solution. It seems silly that a 3 year old smartphone (my old HTC) had the ability to automatically turn on/off data for MMS, but not the Nexus..
Go to your T-mobile account find where you would select a phone and choose the Nexus 5. Wait a little and restart your phone and see if it works after an hour or 2.

Were you able to find a fix to this? My texts were completely fine for the first day or two I had it while i was on wifi. But just realized today that i might of been missing out on a day or twos worth of texts when my friend asked me why i didnt respond. So i turned off my wifi and i recieved alot of texts at once.
Im currently using the default hangouts app so im not sure whats causing this.. looks like i have to turn off wifi to get and send texts.
I also have this demand. My old HTC phone(Incredible S, flashed with CM rom) was able to automatically turn data on momentarily to receive MMS, then shut off. I haven't change the carrier. So, it's the 4.4 problem
Still no fix for this. I also noticed that if a MMS message is to be received, but mobile data on the N5 is off, 8sms will constantly try to fetch it, unsuccessfully... This causes a notable battery drain and even had 8sms as the top battery usage when checking battery stats. I guess in a way, it's a way to see if you have an MMS message incoming, but still... Really wish data would just auto on/off when the device detected a MMS incoming/outgoing.

I also use 8SMS. I don't know if this will solve your problem, but basically, the problem I had, was that if I were to send a text that was over 160 characters, the old messaging app on my S3, would automatically convert it to an MMS (which I think most phones do). For some reason, this was disabled in 8SMS.
The way to fix that, is to go into 8SMS settings, and find the option that says "Convert long sms to mms" and switch it to "1".
This worked for me, I had a slightly different problem then you are describing, but perhaps this could be a fix for you as well?
I hope that helps, if not, well, maybe it'll help someone else!
I use CM and the option to enable data to download MMS is not included yet. However i have no problem downloading MMS while connected to 3G. As long as your APN has MMS in the APN Types field it should automatically use that connection instead to get MMS.
I didn't have this issue on stock either (4.4) so maybe it's a carrier thing?
for me the problem is when I'm connected to a WiFi network the phone automatically turns off wifi to download the message and then never re-enables wifi turn it back on I understand that MMS must be downloaded through the carrier network but if I remember correctly it wasn't until recently that I wasn't able to have wifi and download message at the same time.
Nexus 5 Android 4.4.4, Tmobile: when at home my cellular has 1 bar (LTE). If wifi is connected, outgoing MMS does not succeed. I get notifications for incoming MMS, but it asks to "download" the message which fails. The moment I disconnect wifi in the same spot (literally without moving), MMS resumes working both for incoming and outgoing communications. Connecting wifi again causes it to fail.
I do remember a time that the phone was able to enable both connections at the same time to download an MMS and then subsequently keep everything else that I do on the phone through the wifi network.
The only thing I don't know for sure is whether it is a third party messenger problem for a phone problem carrier problem orAndroid bug
I also just realized that I bumped a very old post my apologies if I did not read enough to find a solution amongst other threads.
But any help would be great

[Q] MMS Not Working?

I've had my Nexus 5 for about two weeks now. I've just tried sending a Picture Message for the first time with this phone, but it keeps failing?
I'm on a Vodafone 4G contract, but I'm at home so I'm connected to my WiFi. I've tried downloading ChompSMS which is what I used to use on my previous phone, but it still failed. I've also tried 8SMS which resembles the original Android Messaging App, but no joy?
I've just tried disabling WiFi, and it managed to send the message?!
What's going on? Do I really need to disable WiFi every time I want to send MMS???

you need network data connection to send mms, not wifi. mms go through your carrier, thats why they charge for it. if you could send mms over wifi, they couldnt charge you for it.
You shouldn't need to disable WiFi to send SMS. That's really strange.

I'm sure he typo'd. Either way, you shouldn't have to disable wifi to send MMS. Yes.. you need a data connection to the carrier, but that doesn't mean you should have to disable wifi to do it... I'm waiting for my N5 to show up and have been browsing around here in the mean time... If this is true, then it's definitely a bug as it hasn't affected any other android device I've had from android 2.0 through 4.3. I frequently send MMS while on wifi and it's smart enough to route it through mobile data in the background.

I've had loads of Android devices too, and this is the first time this has happened. When your phone turns up, please try it and let me know?
i am the one that is wrong here, it should send the mms even though wifi is connected. i tried earlier, and it didnt send(turned out that person changed their number). so i tried again, a different number, and it sent.

MMS Over Wifi

In an effort to squeeze a little extra battery life from my phone I setup a tasker profile to disable mobile data when on Wifi.
Unfortunately, that means I can't get MMS messages when on Wifi. I'm using hangouts, but don't think it's hangouts specific. Any one know if there's a way to make this work? Thanks.
I think you should keep mobile data on anyway, as Android prioritizes Wifi over data. So when connected to Wifi, data is simply disconnected, but not disabled. So sending MMS is still possible even while connected via wifi.

Yeah, I don't disagree. The problem is for about 15 hours a week I'm in a place where I have abysmal cell coverage. When I'm there my battery goes to crap, I was hoping this would help with it.

Ah, I see what you're saying... no, only using Google Voice for voicemail. I must admit, I never did really figure that product out completely.
Nextplus
I use next plus for WiFi text, gives you a separate phone number as well
It depends, I don't use hangouts I use stock sms and MMS sent to my number requires data from the provider, stored on their servers till the image expires, or log into my account to view the image
Are the people sending you these images use hangouts and are logged in?, assuming it will send via Google's services
With 5.1.1 there seems to be a bug with WiFi and data cross over, if I have both on, sometimes data stays on instead of wifi while the phone is sleeping at home, then it switches over when display is on,another reason why I don't leave it on.
It's not about images, it's about MMS for group text messages. And some use hangouts and some do not. Some use android, some use iphone.

Hmm.. It should be fine, then.
I tested it with a friend who is on Android. We disabled our mobile data and we could send MMS group messages.
(From Hangouts to Hangouts, no SMS involved. I cannot text using it, anyway, being on iPhone).

I suggest any one who wants to try for themselves test then, because on my setup I would not get the MMS. It may have been due to emoticons or something else I'm not thinking of, but I clearly remember the separate SMS from my wife asking why I was ignoring everyone on the group text
