[Q] Google Android Market Connectivity - General Questions and Answers

I installed CM7 on my Motorola Droid. The install went smoothly and I have CM7 up and running. There's one issue.
When I had the stock version running, I was able to install an app on my phone from the https://market.android.com/ website.
I am still able to download apps using the market app and install them.
However, I am not able to send the apps to my phone via the google market website. In my settings, it no longer shows Motorola Droid as a registered device.
I tried to search this forum for a similar issue, but couldn't find any. Is this functionality lost forever?

Try clearing cache on your Market app (settings>apps>manage apps>market) then open up the app again and accept the terms and conditions. Then download an app and check to see if your device is back in the market.android page.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Thank you for that tip. It has worked. I am now able to see a device on the market --> my account --> settings.
It no longer shows up as Motorola Droid, but instead it shows up as Unknown Device. I am going to guess that CM7 caused it to happen. I was able to also initiate an app transfer from the website to my phone.
I don't see a Thanks Button, but I appreciate the help.

TB Not Downloading Applications

My TB stopped downloading applications and is giving me an error that says that there was a error and it couldn't download the app. I have reset my phone multiple times and am finding no resolution, any ideas?
try this: go to settings>>applications>>manage applications>> all>>then scroll down to the market app and select it>> clear the cache, clear data and force stop it. Then back out and open the market app normally, agree to the terms and try downloading the app, it might be working again.
Unfortunately it still isn't functioning correctly. :-( I emailed Google and they weren't of much help...
I had a thread about this. Go find it. My network settings were corrupt but being backed up/restored. It's in the Thunderbolt q/a forum. Sorry but I can't easily link to it from my phone.

[Q] Restore market apps with new jcase's GB release?

I'm using the latest GB release from jcase and it seems everyone is using TiBU to restore their apps, but I'd like to have Google automatically restore them from the market. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?
Thanks.
Well the procedure would be to go to the Market on your phone, and look at My Apps. I believe if it recognizes the updated phone as the same phone, all your downloaded apps will show and/or start updating. If they don't show up in My Apps, you can always sign on the web market. The downloaded apps will be listed there under your account, and you can push them manually... not automatic, but only a few clicks to get them all back.
I went to settings/ applications/ market/ force close and data. Everything restored.

Depends on how you have your phone setup...
I think its if Settings -> Privacy -> back up my settings... and the other one there are checked, that the apps will auto come back down if you wipe or flash your phone and reset it up with the same ID. (Not always the best option to have enabled when you are wiping your phone because an APP is causing a problem.)
Another alternative... Appbrain Market... if you install it and sync it, it keeps track of your apps. You can use it to remember and trigger installs of all your Market apps. You can also view/edit/copy your lists from your PC.
If you use the Amazon App Store to purchase/install apps, it keeps track of your purchases and Free installs. But remember that those are NOT seen as purchased via Android Market, so you'd need to use Amazon App Store to install those "paid for" apps first, otherwise if you try to install via Android market (like when using Appbrain) you'll be purchasing them again.
I end up using a combo of Appbrain and Amazon's app store.. So after wipe and add my accounts, I install Amazon's app store, and install any purchased(or free app per day) apps from there. Then I install Appbrain to install any Free/Purchased apps from Google Android Market.

[Q] Removing My Orders and My Devices form Android Market

Does anybody knows how to remove My Orders and My Devices form Android Market?
Earlier I used Desire HD. Some market application I did not used that time and off-course uninstalled them. That time those unused uninstalled also appeared onto my market account. Recently I changed my phone to Sensation but still those DHD applications are visible onto my market account. Even some of them automatically restored. I want to get rid of that by removing unappropriated stuffs.
When I used Desire HD android market's "My Devices" page showed desire HD. But now after using sensation, "My Devices" page is showing two devices.
Please help me by let me know how to remove My Orders and My Devices form Android Market?.

Yeah I did. But Android Market's website is showing all the previously installed applications.
Have you tried going to the android market website on your PC? You can login to you account there and delete devices.

You can delete devices from there. I didnt even know the android market kept track of your devices until I went there a couple days ago. I saw every phone I had listed. It was weird to see my G1 listed from back in the day lol. I deleted them all except for my current Sensation.

My mistake, you are correct. I could have sworn I deleted them.
Has anyone ever figured this out?
I flash my phone a few times a month and I think it is nice that it will reinstall all your market apps but there are a LOT that I just install to try and then want them GONE forever. Has anyone ever figured this out?
Thanks,
supersobbie
PS Yes I tried to uninstall from the settings menu as well as uninstalling using the market app on the phone. But I still have "FREE" apps on my orders list from January of this year that I do not install or use.
Nope, and Google are useless as well as they didn't even know that if you look on your Google Dashboard (all account data held by Google) you can see what they backup and how large the backup is
In order to get those old apps from your previous device not to restore on your new device all you have to do is not select "automatically restore backup" check when you first setup your device. I prefer to use titanium backup anyway because I prefer a more hands on approach. Hope that helps. Just do a factory reset and make sure you don't check that option the 2nd go-around.
this problem also bugs me too. I got a new phone and it doesn't automatically install all my apps, the market only seems to want to install to old phone?
and there are apps I do not wish to install.
the market app on the phone doesn't show any apps at all.
so I have to go through the market website and manually pick the apps.
I find it hard to believe that Google haven't done proper useability testing for this scenario, it's really crap.

[Q] Help with Market

I have a problem with the android market. I've found two apps where I can see add-on apps when I search for them, but the main app doesn't show up when I search on my phone. When I search on my wife's Motorola Atrix, the main apps show up as well as the add-on apps. The apps I've seen this with are Car Locator and Evernote. Has anyone ever seen this behavior? And how can I fix it so I can get the apps I want. I don't know how many other apps might not be found-but I know there are two for sure!
Depending on your fingerprint in your build.prop, the market makes decisions on what apps you are allowed to see on the device. I'm not sure if you are running stock or a ROM, but if your fingerprint line is not recognized/allowed to use that app, you won't be able to install it.
You can go to http://market.android.com and find the app then see if you can tell it to install to your phone. If it is grayed out, you will need to either extract the apk from your wife's phone or change your fingerprint line then reboot the phone.
I found one of the apps at http://market.android.com and it had an install button. But when I tried to install it I got a message saying "Your device's content rating filter is incompatible with this item". I know the app works on the device because the developer sent me a link and I installed the app from it.
I don't understand why the market would limit me to certain apps. Can you tell me how to fix my phone so this is no longer a problem?
Thanx!!!

Menu->Settings->Content Filtering in Market on the device
There might be a corresponding setting on the website, I don't know.
I can't find anything under settings that has anything to do with content, filtering, or market.

It's right under User Controls.
And obviously, anything in the Market's settings screen is going to be related to the Market.

[Market Problem] App marked as paid, cant install

Hi,
half a year ago I had a "HYBRID" called Rom installed on my Phone. This Rom had several premium apps (aka warez) with them. Accidently, I tried to update some of them back then.
The Rom didn't last long on my phone but now I have problems because of that update-try it seems.
The App "Tapatalk" is marked as paid in my Google Apps section. If i click "Install" it says "Error 403" (not authenticated I guess).
There is no way to remove the app from my App Section it seems. I tried requesting a refund, describing my problem but only thing I got back was a mail telling me that it is a free app?!
Anyone has an idea how i can remove this app from my list so I can buy it?
I had no problems buying other apps so far (Root Explorer and PowerAmp just yesterday), its just this Tapatalk app.
Thanks for your help!
regards
From what I have read it looks like you will not be able to remove it from your list. Did you try clearing the cache and data for the android market app?
Had this problem myself before.
only way I got around it was to freeze market updater, Downgrade to an old market, one of the original greeny ones. 2. something. Then unlink the app from the market. I then choose to buy the app. Then unfreeze your market updater and let it update or flash a new market.
You will need to reboot after most of those steps.
This should hopefully help as it did for me.
Yes. I also have tried a workaround with market fixer that i have found (clear google service framework, delete links, reboot and such stuff).
The app is also marked as "paid" on the Google Website (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=tapatalk&c=apps)
Thanks StephenC82. I will try that!
I've the same problem, but my paid apps were all downloaded for free on GetJar -_-'
I've sent a bug report, they contacted me and after one thousand emails (where they asked me to reset the phone twice etc) they told me that they're working on it and I've just to wait for news from them...
Good luck bro, sadly we're in the same boat
The market thing didnt do the trick, but this topic helped!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547134
The Javascript code did nothing, but inspecting the element + changing the value to "false" helped. I clicked "purchased" again and it asked me for the payment informations. After that i was able to download the app via the normal play market on my phone
Glad you got it worked out.
Greatttttttttt
