[Q] Do THEMES burden the device? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Is putting a different theme (via our theme section here) has any negative effects (more memory? change in performance?)?
Or is it totally "free" of these?
Just curious before i start flashing new themes.
Thanks

Negative
All it does is replace images. Their is of course additions like: animations and such. Also knowing the author of themes (dependant on roms) if they took the apk's and recompiled/compiled them correctly. But overall a phone like this, if a theme is done right, you wont notice a single bit of difference. Just like giving your car a new paint job.

Darchtrev customizations to DarchLegend rom

I hope TrevE doesnt mind me starting this thread first off. This is his customized version of the already sweet rom DarchLegend by DarchStar. Its been my daily rom since he put out it, I just thought Id make it a little easier for others to find and enjoy. And maybe inspire TrevE to share some more of his custum creations! I also want to take the opprotunity to Thank both DarchStar and TrevE for their most excellent work. This is just copy and pasted from TrevE's posts in the DarchLegend thread.
Awesome Rom darchstar. Over the weekend i made the plunge to 2.x, after the google sign in issues with the eris rom i came over to your legend. Already real optimized and usable I just have a tendency to tweak everything. I made a few changes to your v2 and figured id post them back if anyone else wanted, use any of it as you will. Ive been wiping and flashing all weekend so its probably safe but if your phone blows up thats your fault. This is now my daily driver rom thanks alot darchstar
heres the changes i rememberd i made:
-chaged a few icons
-Transparent notification bar
-Black dialer
-fixed apps2sd and threw in the script to do 'apps2sd off' if you dont want it
-changed lowmemkiller minfree to 1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000 making a huge difference in speed
-cleared lockscreen
-used nexus bootscreen
-made few changes to install script & init.d files
-added wifi tether & few more widgets.

the clear lockscreen, does it actually show the date on one line and does it show the 2 sliders? b/c when i tried the clear lockscreen on this rom a few days ago it was all eff'd up..
Any screenshots?
Will this work with v4.1?? Or just V2 like you mentioned...
Edit: And did you fix the market issue with urs??
i actually like the lockscreen built into 4.1, but these other addons intrigue me..decisions decisions
screen shots would be nice. is freindstream included?

You can see screen shots in the original post #363 in the darchlegend thread...
I really like the skin and icons of this theme, but the memkiller is set too strict. Navigation is terminated after about 2 seconds. It can run in the background, but as the app tries to pull up a full screen app it is terminated.

Why not just link those screen shots or post new ones. Why send someone to another thread 363 posts in to look at screen shots?
idk why its so tuff

Pretty Good
Just tried out the ROM and you did some pretty good customizations, now the real test will be to see how the battery life is.......
I just will give it a charge and test it out now.
BTW.... I really do like the speed!!!!

[THEME] CDMA-Buuf-1.0 for Metamorph Free/Pro Complete! (Updated 4/26/10)

Edit 4/28: Added 1.1 and new screen shots. (The one with Sense is not new.. didn't want to switch back, so the icons are actually themed.) This removes com.resources.apk and framework-res.apk. Morphing either of these has been causing FCs, so until that is resolved they will not be included in future releases.
Edit 4/26: Finally releasing v1.0. Hope you peeps enjoy!
There still might be some stock imagery sticking around. If you come across anything, let me know and I'll fix it.
Morphing the framework-res.apk can have negative effects (i.e. freeze at boot or force closes). I recommend that you create a Nandroid before using this.
I may create a flashable .zip that will be more thorough in themeing but will not have the flexibility of the .thm.
Been working on porting this Buuf theme to our Hero's in my free time for the past coupon of days.. There is still a lot of tedious work ahead of me, but thought I would go ahead and share to see how much interest there is for a complete theme.
If a lot of peeps show interest I will focus a little more on this rather than some of my other projects.
The goal for me is to have a complete theme where all standard apps/icons/widgets match the look. I was looking into Morphing Market apps, but due to signing, it is impossible ATM to change any images within an .APK without causing it to fail checks and consequently disappear from the phone.
The ROM I am currently running is Fresh 2.0d, so it is tested and working properly with that ROM. I have not attempted it on anything else.
I also use the Helix launcher, so it was my main focus I am now working on completing the Sense portion of the ROM. (Widgets as well )
Hopefully you guys like where this is headed.
If you have requests for which parts I should finish sooner, let me know!
PS: The pics are not from the latest version, just haven't taken screenies since updating yesterday.

I think this is one of my favorite themes. It's a toss up between it and this one.
I'm interested enough that, if you want to expedite things, and would like to divide an conquer, I'd be glad to help.

Just a heads up, when installing the theme i got to a point where something it was trying to theme wasn't available so the apply all function stopped working. Don't know if this MM related or something to do with the theme itself. Going through and applying each part manually works fine though

This was the only theme I used on my Palm Pre back in the day. Your's is actually quite a bit nicer than the Pre version I had. Looking forward to seeing the finished product
When I try and install this use Metamorph I get some kind of message saying there is no theme or something like that. The message goes away so fast I can't read it all. If I pick existing theme, there is no xml file there. Can this be used on FreshDamagedCake 1.4.1 Rom.
I even tried a couple of font changes based off of Damages 2.05 Rom and all I get is that after it extracts it tells me there is nothing or no theme files there.

[Theme][CWM] MonoRework V2.5 [UPDATED 10/10 Now also V10k Compatible)

Hi guys this is something ive been working for quite a while now, gradually perfecting it but there is still stuff to add. This is for people that like a minimal black and white look.
Now I have started in the xml stuff ive improved upon version 1 enough to consider this version 2.
Things i would like to change next are:
-Change some more inbuilt apps to match the theme(requests if you want anything in particular)
-Change charging colour on lockscreen (still currently green, think I know how to do this but having probs compiling stuff still)
-Improve/change more in app icons and colours
-Add Reboot, Recovery and Download to power menu option (main priority for V3)
-If possible enable the standard android lockscreen (got some nice sliders to use already in framework)
Any help and advice will be highly appreciated.

-Changed to black and white honeycomb popups
-Fixed battery animation
-System setting text now grey for the people having probs with certain apps.
-Changed over to the latest v10k framework

-This is the framework only for now until i edit the apps
-Link at bottom of post also may not work with no clock patch
Change log 04/09 & 12/09
-(Latest)Disable the slow blur animation behind the power menu now pops up quick
-Enabled black menu/sub menu popups and solved black text issue for it too

No Clock Patch Added To First Post
25/08/2011
After wrestling about 6 hours with my crappy laptop to get everything together ive managed to make the no clock patch. This should work on all deodexed V10 based roms.
hi
thx for your work =)
this is the first alternative theme
can you make all the silver/grey icons blue? that would be nice
i flash it nevertheless
damn nice!!!!
is there any way we can get rid of the clock and get an all black taskbar background?? that'll be the bomb!
tapatalk'd in 3d with my optimus
@Joker thanks but ive not really got time to make colour variations but i might make something blue next.
@gewuerzwiesel1977 im currently updating it to a black taskbar and changing some popup things should be up soon.

Hi this is my first thread and my first theme. Just something ive made in my spare time and i would like to ask your advice on how and what i should change.I have pretty much no experience at theming, just copy and past really but ive made this from a mashup of other themes and using bits from the UOT kitchen. Most of the graphics have been changed to a grey but some things i dont know how to do, thats why i have put a beta status on it.
Known things/bugs i would like to change are:
-System settings colour (currently blue)
-Change inbuilt apps colour (working on some already)
-Change charging colour on lockscreen (currently green)
-Improve notification and app icons
-Make a flashable zip
Downloads are dropboxed at the moment cause my computer is being awkward.
Framework Res- db.tt/8FB4rPz
Settings- db.tt/eDA61J2
LGE Res- db.tt/LUkwC74

To install this, copy the framework apk and lge rs into the framework folder and copy the setting apk and application manager apk into the app folder to do this you must be rooted.
This theme is working on firmware V10D(stock) and WaterBear 1.0, i havnt tested on anything else.
Change log 14/08

A ROM with all the following

Ok Guys, Its my first post here but I have been lurking around here for quite some time, so I wont be as annoying as most noobs I guess
Anyway, I've tried many different ROMs on my captivate and I find all of them to be pretty good but I am yet to find one which packs all the goodies I want. They are not too much to ask for IMO. I need your advice and suggestions on this.
I want a ROM with the following in it:
-Extended Power menu(Recovery, Download)
-Touchwiz4 or Touchwiz4.5 launcher
-Gpsfix
-SuperUser Enabled
-ICS boot animation
-ICS themed( but wiht TW4)
-Some Tweaks for more battery life
- Some cool lockscreens(Preferably the ICS lock should be there)
- Shouldn't scoop up too much of memory( In some roms I couldn't get more than 120mb free RAM even in idle state. I want at least 170mb free)

Unfortunately, no one can tell you whats good for you. The only way to go about this is to read. From your questions, it appears that you dont appear too noob So, read the OP and last couple of pages of the threads. They should give a fair idea if anyone is facing any particular issues.
On side note; it appears KK4 source code has been released. So you may want to wait for some time before the magicians (Read: developers) wind their magic for ROMs and kernels.
If none of the roms have all the features...find one with the hardest to do (lock screen for example) and then add the rest in yourself.
This is xda...a place not only to download cool stuff..but also a place to learn how to do things yourself.
Like saying it needs to have a certain boot animation and launcher, that is EASILY changed.
I have found Fasty lll a real nice rom if you haven't tried it yet give it a shot. All you can do is try them to see if you like them.
knighted4
I've flashed MANY different ROM's, and not a single one has given me exactly what I wanted for features(Quite frankly, it's not the Dev's duty to fulfil my every wish). So what you end up with is, find a ROM that has as many of the most important features for you, that aren't apk related, load it, and modify it to suit your needs.
Truely, that is the best you're going to get. There are SO many different options available that it would be near imposible to find one that hits each and every thing on your list.......UNLESS you build the ROM yourself, and you can then cook it to suit your needs
No single ROM can fulfil your every desire...every rom has its highlights and low points but miui is better but u need to look for a touchwiz apk and install. On the bright side miui has customizable boot screen and lock screen
Sent from my I897 in the LION filled territory called Kenya using XDA App
This can turn in a redundant thread since every person has different needs.
On that note, thread closed.

Question Is there a easy way to change the color palette?

Is there a easier way to change the color palette that affects the button colors and stuff besides randomly testing wallpapers to see what it chooses for you, that you can't seem to edit? Or is picking wallpapers and seeing what comes up the only way?
I use the high contrast theme on my N10+'s.
Then a custom icon pack and last set the wallpaper.
The Goodlock family of apps, Quickstar will give you control of the pull down screen colors.
Theme Park may be helpful although I avoid using it.

My lockscreen wallpaper gave me buttons with a color I like so I'll keep that, I use a custom launcher and icon packs anyway, so it was just the pulldown and phone buttons that I wanted changed from default blue (cause my home wallpaper is red, so it recommended all these pink palettes and i was like nope, no pink buttons...)

Pink? Jeeesze... the SK's are a bit insane.
Just look at their graffiti
Custom launchers are generally not as capable, stable or efficient as the native one. A 3rd party launcher is one app that can boot loop a Samsung with little or no warning. Take any signs of instability or lagging seriously... been there, done that.

it just doesn't make sense why they offer you 4 color pallets when you change the wallpaper but wont let you ALTER *ANY* of them or change them anywhere in the settings.
Might as well lock it down to apple level lol

Samsung's been screwing up since the N10+ in many different ways some of them major.
Like abandoning the power user and the SD card slot.
Some beyond reasoning.
Samsung never recaptured the clean, thoughtful form factor of the N10+. Sticking the spen on the left was tarded. Samsung claimed that most hold the phone with their right hand. A world of lefties? Land of the giants? Damn they be inept... and haven't learned the definition of insanity as they keep repeating the same mistakes

Ahh, I miss the days of the s3-6 where you could unlock the bootloader from the store and be happily on your way within a hour of purchase. now it's like the world, lock it down and do as they say
Download Samsung's Theme Park and you can change the colors yourself.
I use #Hex Installer. It requires some time and ADB computer knowledge to setup, but allows you to change any color element you want, even with full on themes.
