i am planning to buy(India) Motorola quench XT3, i need few help from you
Q1. is it advaisable to buy motorola quench xt3? is it great phone for budget price? i don't have much money to spend on phones since i have lost my iphone recently..
Q2. right now they are providing Android 2.1 with it....is it possible to upgrade to android 2.2? official or unofficial upgrade is possible ?
Q3. if i upgrade to 2.2, will i loose any features?
Q4. is xt3 possible to mod? i mean changing theme, adding widgets, etc..
Please help me in this....
i am looking for your support on this.
cheers
Can someone put light on this.....i am looking for your help dears....
its a great phone and i am using it know.Technicaly speaking its a phone that states its camera is 3mp on its backcover but mine is a newer android 2.1 version that motorola recalled it to change its camera sensor. It is shown in the camera launcher which says 5mp.It is pretty similar to the htc legend and i like it as the ui is very fast!It is so far very good and fast.No lag and it is very customisable. It can put almost any widget and at this price,It really is better then any phone even better then the legend. It also has a unscratcheable screen as it is gorilla glass! Its processer is 600mhz and that makes it alot better then the wildfire which loses in every way to the xt3!There is no 2.2 rom yet!But no features will be lost! And i am also a user of the iphone and i dumped it cos this is alot better if you know how to use it to its potential!Battery life is very good and can last a whole day with heavy youtube+web+Music+video usage!Get the phone! You will not be dissapointed!Make sure you get the android 2.1 version as there were two versions of it!
Hey Thanks Alisterrox....Thats great help....much much appriciated...
actually i already bought it - Motorola quench xt3.
i felt its good and the speed also good.....everything is fine...i played few games .....it went smooth.
also i have googled about 2.2 upgrade....few people have upgraded to froyo....which is cynagen mod.
if you know how to root our device...that will be helpful for me....there are few method ...i don't know which one works fine...
if you have rooted your device..pl. give some direction also if you have installed any theme or rom...please guide me how to do that
i hope i am not asking you somuch...
cheers
Root problem
Don't mention it!I did not root my phone as i have heard rumors that an official froyo update is in Feburary!I am sorry for the slow reply! As for cynagen mod it is the orange boston class which means you can try the mod in the class of the HTC legend or HTC Hero!I'm sorry if i am of not much help. However if you like the Samsung Galaxy S theme i have the file and i am gonna leave it here if you want!
Thanks alisterrox...thanks for your help....i already have installed Cyanogen mod 6.1.2 on my system....i didn't know that there will be a official update of 2.2....i could have waited for some time....even the installed cyanogen mod, i am not feeling its good....the touch resposive become bit lagish and the speed is very similar to 2.1...the battery drains early(this is the big issue).....the only benifit is i can install app on my SD card thats all.
between the file which you have attached here....how i can use...can i use 'rom manger to install ?
Thanks
Cheers
It is an apk technically speaking u just place the file in your sd card that will do the trick. You can use any app installer. As for the sluggishness of the mod it is expected as it is a general rom which may not be built for this phone specifically.....i will try probably to write a froyo rom into it if i have the time while i port a htc rom or any rom i can get hold of!Maybe dext motoblur rom as the specs are pretty similar!
Thanks alisterrox...whish you very very happy new year...i will try the theme and let you know....if you buil any rom please let me know...
also i have noticed that ...cyanogenmod people have ported the Gingerbread rom to our devices...pl. do check

I m screwed up with my pretty old HTC Touch.. I am looking for best of HTC Wildfire, Samsung Galaxy 551, Motorola Quench XT3, LG Optimus1 P500, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8..
but after seeing this thread and other threads I will definitely go for Motorola Quench XT3. Only one question how is the display colors and resolution compared with others ?
ThanQ
@ kbmkreddy
according to me ....Motorola quench XT3 is best buy...
Screen quality is better than any other mobile in this category ....(you can check the specification and compare...XT3 is best in class).
i would recommend do check LG optimus 1 p500 also...this is also a pretty good mobile.

hope i have helped you.

Tried rom
I have tried all but the best so far is the official 2.2 xt502 rom with gingerbread ui.it's very stable fast allows the installation of apps to sd card.also the kernel 2.6.32.9 is way u will want if u want superb battery life and great speed.cyanogen of course is faster but it gives horrible battery life.apanda's and foxconn rom's are very good generally.but I heard the clock speed is capped mostly at 480mhz.apanda's are 600mhz but don't worryfficial Rom usually have no imei fault whatsoever.oh if u are facing problems with any rom that gives u other region setting(that's wat I got with the official rom) just go android market and dl the regional settings app.I suggest the official rom bcos it's made for our phones and u will not get things like commitiva z71 or any other orange boston clones;it say xt502.Apps2sd works fine here if u do a custom partition;I did it and it works fine.generally if u like firetrap has good rom.but recent roms also built on the official rom such as the balakaila rom have the same stable kernel.look for those as they are special kernel for our phone.oh error codes on sutlr are very common as we had clockwork mod to install cyanogen b4...thus it works wierdly.I have been fiddling around and I will most probably attempt rom building on the 2.6.32.9 kernel with no root.complete stock will give good performance.besides the gingerbread ui is gorgeous so try that out!it even has smart dialing enabled unlike other rom's.it make dialling a dream unlike the previous roms mentioned.cheers!maybe we should request for a thread specially for our xt502!
Hi alisterrox,
Where do I get the official update to 2.2 mentioned in your last post? I'm running stock 2.1 rom on my XT502 and need to update specifically for apps2sd and such other features.
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my Motorola-XT502 using XDA App
@ pamfu ...Official rom i have attached in my post...the first link is the official rom for our device(not exchatly xt502 rom but its official rom for similar variant.....i guess you know...its just a brand name...everything else are same).
@ alisterrox ...Thanks man....even i thought the same....official rom are fine to use..its very stable.......
since you have knowledge about rom's...you should cook some rom for our device....we should ask seprate thread for our XT502....that will be very much helpful
Cheers
rom building and guide
well i am waiting for the 2.4 sdk to come out b4 i try anything....oh if u want to know how to update to the 'official rom',the steps are
Flashing non cyanogen rom
Step 1ownload and install the SUTLR to your computer(link to dl:http://uploading.com/files/7942c5ef/SUTLR_v1.7.0.zip/)
Step 2ut the phone in download mode -> red call button + vol up + power.Rmb to download the rom u want on ur computer and unzip it.It is a nbo file.
Step 3:In SUTLR ,choose the option "erase user data"
Step 4:Click flash rom.wait a while and it should work.
Step 5o not worry about the errors u get after flashing.Just go ahead and boot ur phone up.After the motorola badge u will get the green android robot. It should boot up.
Step 4:If u dont like the chinese root explore use system app remover to clear file and dl the full version using applanet
Rmb to always backup ur rom!
If problems persist with booting(applies to most roms)
Step 1:Go into recovery mode(power+vol up+camera button)
Step 2:Using trackball or volume buttons, select wipe cache and wipe user data(select button is camera button, back is power button)
Step 3:Go into advanced settings and select wipe dalvik cache and wipe battery stats
Step 3:It should work.If there are problems feel free to ask.
Rooting ur phone if u are still on stock 2.1 and want cyanogen
Step 1:Using the universal androot apk provided, install it to ur phone.Click root after installation and opening the app
Step 2ownload rom manager.U can use the market but u can dl the premium version using applanet which is a app that provides paid apps free.
Step 3:In rom manager, flash clockwork mod recovery.
Step 4:Back up ur rom by selecting it in the app.
Step 5l the cyanogen rom u want.Rmb to download gapps or google apps.
Step 6ut the rom rar file into ur sd card root folder.Rename the cyanogen rar file as update
Step 7:Go into recovery mode again.Select the flash 'update.zip' option.
Step 8:After complete, clear all user data, cache and everyting as mentioned b4.
Step 9:Reboot ur phone.U should get the cyanogen mod robot. If stuck at the motorola badge dont panic.refer to the help at the top of this post.
Step 10:Ur done! But rmb to download the latest google apps to ur phone. Its the same way put the gapps mdpi to ur root folder. This time dont rename it.just select flash zip from sdcard.after complete u will get the latest google apps.
Step 11:Voila u are done!
If u have anything such as removing apps from ur phone that u dont one but cnnt semm to uninstall it feel free to ask.I will do my best to help.

Hi Alisterrox,
I'm using official XT502 with 2.3 UI rom too, it worked good so far. But why everytime I restart my phone my internal memory always reduced a little ? I used app2sd with ext3 partition in external. Did it happen too in yours ? Thank you.
@alisterrox
You really rock man! Such flawless instructions! My XT502 upgraded in flat 5 minutes!
THANKS THANKS THANKS ..... MANY THANKS!
I tried the 8.1 rom yesterday and it worked until this morning when I switch on, it stays on the start screen only. Can somebody help me to solve this problem or I need to send back to Samsung.
thanks
sammy
Maybe you should write what Samsung device you're using.
And 8.1 ROM - does not make any sense here.
If you want people to help you - your question should be like this:
I'm using DEVICE NAME. Tried ROM NAME from here LINK...

Hi Guys
to get full Hebrew support i successfully used a tool called Hebfix on Froyo and on GB 2.3.4.
It changed the framework.jar libandroid.so and libwebcore.so, fixing the right to left issue with numbers, reversed back the Hebrew menus texts and installed a clear bold font
(combined with 'More Locale 2' defined Hebrew (iw) locale).
Please note that on some 2.3.5 & 2.3.6 ROMs it just makes a mess.
Some ROMs get into a bootloop, on others everything seems to be working fine even for days until you start getting bluetooth lags, wifi signal with no reception and disabled GPS, sometimes if you reboot the phone with a device set as open it will work on next boot, sometimes it doesn't help. I tried 4 ROMs, 2 kernels, 3 modems all combinations.
Other Hebrew fixes caused similar issues, but strangely it took them days to do that (Tried RTL Patcher over SimplySimple, ICBINB, Octane...)
I'm currently using Valhalla final (2.3.6) and it seems to be working fine.
My advice, If you must have GB OS with Hebrew support:
Wipe everything (3 times each - cache, dalvik and user data) , flash Valhalla Final.
Install and run 'system mount' and mount system for RW, run Hebfix 0.93 and apply it.
Install 'More Locale 2' and add locale - Hebrew (iw).
I was able to successfully apply Adrenaline shot 12.
Untill Bhundven's precious kernel work reaches final stages, i recommend flashing KJ1 and fix the su binary (google it)
In ICS all these issues will be solved, since Hebrew support will be hardcoded (it will take some months before we see any ICS ROM here, but i think it will happen).

Hi Tomer
I have 2 of these sweeties. One of the wife working pretty good with Valhalla 1.1 (you can use a very good hebrew guide of fish72 in iandroid on how to install it with complete hebrew support).
http://iandroid.co.il/forum/topic48215.html
For my own device I'm always trying new stuff. Currently preparing to test RaverXX Octane in 2 days. If you have patience maybe this one will be for you. I will update. My main concern is the hebrew support, which did not work 100% well with SimplySimple ROM.

hi itzik
Well, all the steps in the guide were performed correctly, the last step of installing the HEBFIX , my friend hung up the phone cable during installation, what we thought would cause problems with alignment of the Hebrew, so we start again the guide we performed the part of the RED CWE but we forgot to make the section 5 What must have "knocked" the device gives us the message:
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue, Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
Any ideas?
Everything is OK
I started the guide from the beginning, step by step, and works fine
Thank you

Hi Itzik
the Valhalla v1.2 making a restart every few minutes, do u have a fix for that?
do u have a new rom for me? with Hebrew interface? ( for my wife )
what are you recommend?
By the way
I am writing on iandroid web site, switch to page 2
Hi Tomer
I apologize if i misled you.
Hebrew is a big mess, and Krylon360, one of the gurus here, confirmed Framework.jar messing (what all Hebrew fixes do) is a big big risk.
I can tell you this - if you search for android version changes on Wikipedia you will
see there where barely no changes from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6.
so, I returned to the only ROM that worked perfectly for me for months (till i just got bored) and still works for my wife (all the rest ROMs, good as can be, lasted only days due to instability or wifi not working due to Hebrew) - Valhalla 1.1.
See updated opening post please.
Itzik
Hebrew on rom
Shalom All,
I also have lots of problems with the new ROMs, at the beginning I thought something wrong with the new ROMs but no one have the same problem like I have...
Then I read this post and I tried not to install Hebrew for couple of days and most of the problem didn't occur.
My point is, what is the problem with the Hebrew update? did someone of you have the source code of the files? I may help you to fix it!
If I can take the file or files from other ROM that work good with Hebrew, can it resolve the issue? like from Cellcom Orange... etc
what about to translate the all ROM?
[updated] Sorry, I just saw this now, what about Valhalla Final, is it experience with the same issue in Hebrew?
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/11743-rom-valhalla-final-kj6-basedhappy-holidays12122011/
Hi HQWarp
Shalom to you too.
First, I answered you on the CWM issue - use Bali kernel (see detailed answer on the iandroid Hebrew 2.3.5 thread).
Second, Full Hebrew ROM is not worth the effort.
If you do what that thread says with Valhalla 1.1 it works like a charm and with Hebfix and More Locale2 you'll get perfect Hebrew on all supported applications.
The only non Hebrew text you see is "Copy" and "Paste" in system apps.
Alon2 will probably try that on the new Valhalla Final and report.
I still didn't get to it (translating some apps to Hebrew).
But I will try it next month most probably.
Hi guys
I'm working for 3 days on Valhalla final (original version) with hebfix and it works flawlessly.
I also tried some tweaks and realized i got the best results with adrenaline shot 12.
I'm currently on KJ1 kernel (after also applying super user and super user binary CWM flashables to resolve the su binary outdated issue).
Along with 'autostarts' you got the fastest most stable Hebrew supporting SGS 4G on earth.

I got SGS + and I am not satisfied. No official update (2.3.5 only.). Here in the forum I have read and saw that there are very few good ROMs and each has a bug. Before I had the Samsung Nexus S I was super happy. The best programs I had on the Nexus was TeamGummy, CM9, WildestPixel and all were perfect with no bugs. And my question is how to make such a good rom for SGS +. I'm just a user and I'm not an expert to do a rom. Sorry for my bad English?
The problem is that we only have a few Dev's for Galaxy s Plus, because it's not very popular.
But now ontopic
I am running Simplistic Plus F2 on my galaxy s plus. Its very smooth and lite
Do you mean the Wifi Bug? Its because Samsung is not able to create a working driver :/

Thank you for your response. Should be the successor to the highly successful i9000 so I got it. I have not even looked at the forum as there Roms for SGS +, because I thought when I get it I'll be able to put the new ICS 4.0.4 without problems and bugs. But I was wrong.
My cell phone is not even root, but I'll do it and try to put a rom and see how it works.
And thinking about selling SGS +, so I buy another one.
So as I read the forums every rom SGS+ has a wifi or camera bag ... With the Samsung Nexus S had no bugs.
Do you know whether Samsung may launch a new official update for SGS + or someone else to be told if you have any information. Thank you.

- Put the rom on the sd card
- Telephone CMW
- Back up custom rom
- reboot
- Zip install form sd card
- Press F2 ok

3. Put Simplistic Zip File on Sd Card
4. Install via Cwm
5. Wipe everything with Cwm for best performance
Hi guys,
This is my first post in xda...
I recently updated my p6200 to android 4.1.2 using odin and then rooted it. Now i want a custom rom (preferably cm10 or 10.1) so i have been searching for threads like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842090
But, the doenload link doesnt see to work..!!!
I know this is kinda stupid but after 3 days of searching for a single link this is my only option so a sincere request to the mods to please not delete this thread..
Also i have noval launcher as my stock and i deleted touchwiz launcher. Now i dont think that matters but just in case ( im a noob to android hacking )

What are you trying to achieve? The stock based ROMs are much more stable than the CM ROMs. There's no need or use to delete things and if you delete too much you will start to cause problems.

I am not aware of any fully functional CM based or other custom ROMs for the P62xx series. The is a CM11 ROM that is a work in progress on the forum. I would install the latest stock 4.1.2 , root and then install a third party launcher , lock screen and other items to make it look the way I want. That will get you a stable, basically custom ROM. I think its unlikely that a stable CM11 will ever appear unless Samsung releases a stock 4.4 from which to build on and CM 10 is now outdated with no developers to support it.
Have you tried the development section.. There are alot of custom roms there.. PAC, Omni to name a few..
Try the Omni4.4.2 it is still in development but it works great and having KitKat on this Tablets is awesome
Guys pardon for my ignorance(im new to this upgrading/flashing thing) but how do you install custom roms?
I'm considering it an option because after i flashed my p6200 with the new jellybean rom via odin, my tablet works until it got battery drained and now stuck on "boot-loop", I've done the CWM wipe/reset data thing but still stuck in that loading screen, I also did try reflashing it with the same jelly bean firmware but still stuck.. I'm thinking installing a custom rom might make it work again..
or if you do have the old honeycomb stock rom for P6200 DXKL2 firmware that i could use via odin.
Try this
[GT-P6200] Official ICS 4.0.4 firmware (Nov 2012) [STOCK/UNROOTED]
or
[Official FIRMWARES] Galaxy Tab Plus P6200/P6210/SGH-T869]
or
[ROM][Stock] P6200XXLB1 [16.02.2012][Android 3.2]
or

does it work for you?
I've downloaded this man.. copied it to my sdcard and then installed it through CWM recovery, now I get to the part where I had to choose stuff, like pre-installment settings like whether to choose "wipe user data" and such, and then install "samsung exclusive?" or "default install" or "remove bloatware", so there after choosing my options it then goes to this page with texts and the android robot at the background, it was so fast that I didn't even get to read what is written, i remember only "wipe?" or sort of, it goes for like a second and then restart back to the
"samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus" loading screen, it's already been a while and it's still stuck in there, I wonder if that is normal, or again like any other stock rom i've flashed with using (odin method) this is stuck and going nowhere?
help! i wanted to post this at the development thread of this certain rom, but Im not allowed due to having few posts i guess?
and by the way, could someone share a ".pit" file for the p6200, i think it might be helpful for making this tab work again, thanks!
