[Q] Netflix app and Skype app??

USA users
Does netflix work?? How good is it?? Black bars on sides??
Skype?? Videcalls??
I really want to buy the Note just concerned if those apps are working ok

Hi everyone,
Absolute noob here, first post and this seems the best place to post my query.
I'm having problems with my video calls with Skype on my Galaxy Note. I bought mine just about a week ago and Skype the most important app for me right now as I need it for comm with my relatives and GF. but video doesn't seem to work. Is there any additional configuration that I need to setup? Or Is there any particular version for Skype that I should be using for NOTE?
I really appreciate any help or guide on this...

working fine for me, at least with test video calls over my LAN - but basic skypeout also tested and works too. would help if you described what you are trying and what is going wrong.

Also, does the front facing camera work as well?

It works great. I use it a lot and never had a problem. I've never used the camera though so I can't comment on that.

Would you be able to test the FFC?

Front facing camera works fine with Skype.

only thing about skype for android is it doesn't delete your chat/call history

I noticed that Skype causes high battery drain. It's good and video calling works perfectly, however it's adviseable to shut it down when not using.

Yes, it drains a lot if there are staying as background service, the quality is acceptable of course with iPhone 4

Am I able to Skype with someone that is using an iPhone 4 while I use the Galaxy Note? Even if I want to use the FFC?

Yes you can, as the Skype supports FFC for both the devices and the quality is remarkable

I thought Skype for Android cannot be used to communicate with people using iPhone 4s. So you've tested this and it works?

i just made a video call awhile ago... No problem so far... just be sure to enable the video calling prompt showed in the first initialization....

that just sounds weird to me, but Skype is bought by Microsoft now, so anything is possible .
I tried Tango, it works with the Front cam too on both Note and S2.

After installing Skype, my phone keeps switching to Edge and had a couple of random rebooting.

Made a Skype video call from my Note to an iPod touch, Macbook Pro, and iPhone4. All working fine but noticed that the Note switches to landscape view during video calls.
Tried to find an option to make it work on portrait view. Otherwise it works great.

^^ It used to work in the portrait mode as well prior to the latest update. Now it defaults to and stays stuck on landscape. I think the app reads the Note's resolution and assumes that it's a tablet or something.

Okay. Not a deal breaker really but would still be nice to have the portrait orientation option.

Skype video on US AT&T version
Can anybody confirm that Skype video works on the AT&T LTE version?
Specifically, does the front camera work fro making a video call like the Iphone?

The skype video call works fine between iphone 4s and Galaxy note no probs at al, the network management is good and the call clarity is appreciated.

It works, but one complaint though is that the video from the other side does not scale or occupy the whole screen. Such a waste of space. I hope Skype addresses this in the next update.

Yahoo messenger voice & video calling plugin

Is there anyone here who has managed their yahoo messenger voice and video calling plugin work on GT2 P5100? Is there any available fix to this issue at the moment? Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks in advance!

I sideloaded it on my p3113, and the camera is sideways, but it does make calls and connect. You can see the other persons cam. I have had reports that audio cuts in and out.

tnx for sharing. I have had that issue before with my previous tab10.1 P7500. messenger works with video calling but image is sideways, but if you flip your cam the return it back using the front cam, your image will appear normal. ( i mean vertical, not sideways anymore). That is why I am really disappointed for replacing the old tab 10.1 with the new tab 2, even skype's video calling wont work. at least the OG tab video calling works. I just wish they could release a new plugin or fix soon for the video calling coz its making samsung's reputation really bad....

Yah, it looks like they released the device without testing for compatible apps for video and voice calling. even skype's video calling doesnt work either. they should start fixing these issues coz its already been months since the release of tab 2 and if this would take longer before it could be fixed, it could really give samsung a really bad impression to consumers. besides, they just won their case over apple, right?

salungat....can you tell me where you got the information from?
My customer has a custom app that uses the camera to take pictures and insert the pictures into a form for reporting purposes (home inspection app).
He is having all kinds of issues with the camera. Today, SAMSUNG support told him that, the "tablet was not designed to be used by an app that controls the camera".
This is complete BS in my opinion but I need more info to fire back at their support.

not samsung, but yahoo & skype are responsible to this kind of bugs

Googeplay gave me error device not compatible when i tried installing plugin

When I do a video chat on the new hangouts the other party can never hear me. Works fine on my Nexus 7. Anyone else having this issue?

Google Hangouts -People Can't hear me
I'm having the same problem. I have a samsung galaxy s3 (AT&T) - d2att. I'm running the cm-10.1.0-RC2-d2att rom. I can hear and see everyone fine. They can see me but can't hear me. I've tried using the front and back camera. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Don't know what to do.

Hmm I'm on CarbonRom which is CM based. Wonder if its a CM issue.

I think i s CM. My wife has the same phone. Hers is not rooted and it works fine on her phone.

My brother called me from his HTC One (I was on my computer) and his mic wasn't working either. His is 100% stock..but for him it seems to sometimes work, and others not.

I have the same problem with my s3. If I use google hangouts I can hear the person I call but they can not hear me. If I use a wired headset they still can not hear me.
Now if I use a bluetooth headset They can hear me perfectly

Amzone Prime Video Keeps Crashing

I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing a problem with the Amazone Prime Video app? Every time I go to play a video the app crashes. It works without any issues when I use it on my Galaxy Tab S tablet.

No issues here.. watched 2 movies already..
using Tmobile version - Un Rooted..

It appears to have been a temporary issue, perhaps something on Amazon's end. It started working the next day.
