Tethering was indeed implemented in Mango. All 2nd generation devices had it available. For 1st gen devices a driver (firmware) update from the OEMs was necessary though. I received mine (HTC HD7) a couple of weeks ago.

[Q] Windows Phone 7 Updates

Hi everybody,
I just got a Dell Venue Pro with Windows Phone 7. I saw a post about a possible update to Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango?), however it seems that the latest software versions are 7.0.XXXX.XX. Were there 7.1-7.4 updates that were missed?
Note: I have browsed XDA for information regarding my mobile devices and just registered.
Thanks for help! Sorry for any ignorance, I am new to smartphones.
All current MS phones will have Mango deployed on them.
All current devices will get the Mango update. The 7.5 designation is mostly to visualize the large leap from what is considered 7.0 (everything prior to Mango), and the Mango update. Its a pretty massive update, so they want to make the name show that, just as the next big one after that will most likely be Windows Phone OS version 8.
Current versions are 7.0.7390.0 (NoDo updtae) and 7.0.7392.0 (with latest security update still being deployed)
Isn't Mango 7.1 ?

Some blogs have run with some story about 7.1, but as far as anything concrete, its all been 7.5.

A search would have answered this for you already, as all Windows Phone devices will get Mango.

Nokia Lumia 800 / 900 vs. Windows Phone 8

Hey there,
I plan to buy a Nokia Windows Phone (Lumia 800 or 900) in early 2012. Is there any information what will happen when Microsoft releases Windows Phone 8? Will Nokia upgrade the "old" Lumia Phones?
There is no information yet about current devices' compatibility, but it does not make sense to leave them out. It should support Apollo.
Windows Phone "8" is just the update version. 8 = Apollo. Just like 7.5 is Mango and so forth. Its still Windows Phone and all Windows Phones should support every update.
I guess it will be available via Zune as Mango.

1)
Nokia has no role to play in regards to basic OS updates. This is very different from Android. Microsoft is the only company with the power to decide which devices get which updates. So far, every device has received every OS update. Carriers have the power to delay the distribution of OS updates to devices on their network, but even they can't delay an update indefinitely.
2)
As others have mentioned, we don't have an official statement from Microsoft on this topic. To me, this indicates that WP7 generation hardware will not be getting WP8. I suspect Microsoft would have said so by now if the opposite were true.

That's if Microsoft have even decided yet! I imagine they're keeping quiet - remember the HTC HD2?

[Q] First to WP7

Hi,
I have been fanboy of Nokia and MS.
Till now, I was using Nokia N8 (yeah, Symbian).
I have recently bought Samsung Omnia W I8350 (got to ditch nokia for high price of lumia)
So I am new to WP platform. However I have well experience in custom ROM makings and flashing symbian phones (even Symbian needs jailbreak kinda thing to install applications outside store).
What are the stuff that I need to do/get to completely unlock my Omnia without any restrictions.
I have seen Interop-lock and other developer locks.
But just gimme single guide to unlock all the available options.
I would like to start developing apps (just trails) as soon as possible
Developer unlock can be done using Chevron token. Costs $9.
Developer unlock methods using the older Chevron cert method is not possible on 2nd Gen devices.
Check this link for interop unlock.
This link provides a newer method of interop unlock for Samsung devices only. I have not tried it though.

Nokia Lumia 800 OEM Update

Hello all!
I have 2 Nokia Lumia 800 and this weekend one of them show me the info about a new update, Zune installed two update to Tango but not OEM update and the other pone I have forced to updated to Tango and doesn't appear OEM update too... It's normal? somebody more with the same?!?!
Thanks!
What do you mean by OEM update? I guess that if you're other phone already has Tango, it probably doesn't need to update to Tango again
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer. The OP is asking about a Lumia-specific update (i.e. not a general OS update like Tango) from Nokia.
