Hey, i haven't found anything in our forums about this, and the search function yeilded no forseeably helpful threads, so here i am. I apologise for my low post count, and would like to emphasise that i will try any solution.
Is there a way to whitelist an app from the system task manager? I often use it but would like to whitelist some apps such as widgetlocker that need not be terminated when i do a "clear all".
I am comfortable with cwm, adb, smali/baksmali and apktool. Thanks for any help.
Infuse, ZEUS ROM
Download a custom task killer like advanced task killer, and whitelist whatever you like
I use advanced task manager and it will whitelist apps. You can get the paid version for free on getjar.

I have used atk in the past, i like the stock better. Accessible via task switcher and no notification clutter just wondering...
Infuse, ZEUS ROM
1. Launch key mapped to long press on search soft key
2. Launch key internally invokes ATK
3. ATK configured not to get into notification bar
This is my current setup, and works better than stock task manager.
got it working (launchkey.apk) niice

Sorry if this is listed elsewhere, I am new to using a forum.
I am looking for an app or someway to make a shortcut to task switcher or task manager on my omnia that will end all running programs when it is run.
Does anyone know of an app or a way to do this. Your help will be much appreciated
any apps out there for this?....yes I do know task managers can do this but I want to press one button and all apps close.
Sounds like the power button to me. Seriously, I am not aware of a task killer widget style app for that. I use battery doctor, just open the program press tasks then hit kill all. Three button presses, but better than four I suppose
Advanced.task manager pro has a one click task killing widget. $1.99 if you are not like some of us. Hope that is what you are looking.for.

Why?
Do you actually have a specific problem that can be solved with a task killer?
Settings>Apps>Manage Apps. There's your task killer.
Or if you're on stock launcher, menu button > manage apps.
Should be all the task killing you need in 2.3
As an alternative you get download Watch Dog that will monitor for you to make sure you don't have rogue apps bogging down your phone. Other then that you can probably do without a task killer.
I use advanced task killer... but you can use the built in Settings>Apps>Manage Apps stated above.
task killers no longer even have permission to kill most processes(after 2.2), they merely take you to the standard running process screen, which makes them even more obsolete.
task killers dont work anymore after 2.2. but the best task manager, by far no contest, is system panel. anything else isnt even close.
Hi
Is there a way to add an app to an ignore list for the stock task manager?
Thanks.
I'm fairly certain that answer is no. I relied on the stock Task Manager for the longest time(i still use it now, just not primarily) and I never found out how to add an exception, I even posted a thread here asking the very same question and got no reply, which led me to believe others didn't know how to add exceptions either. Just download GO Launcher EX and give that a shot. I can never go back to the ****ty stock TW Launcher after trying it, plus it has a built in Task Manager where you can easily lock an app so it will never be closed by the "Kill all tasks" option and can only be killed by manually clicking it and hitting close.
If you use Go Launcher you can go into the option that says choose locked apps so it wont kill apps when you hit close all apps. Is that kinda like what you want? Dont use Task Killer as most say not to use it anyhow. Go Launcher you can see what is running and close all or just some, see recent looked at or all apps.
Since there are so many other (and better) task managers out there, the stock app seems a little superfluous. If I freeze it with TiBackup, will it make the phone flip out. I tried it on my old Fascinate and it didn't like it so much. Just wondering if anybody had better results with the Charge?
I doubt you can remove it on any TW based rom without neg side effects.

Yes, I've had it frozen for a few weeks and have had no problems. On Infinity rom.
I think the built in task manager is better than most other task killers. It doesn't kill things needlessly, and also has a long-press home button add-on. Most task killers allow you to stop to many things that are running, and can hurt performance, rather than help it.

Long press is why I thought you shouldn't freeze it..

The stock one is great, I feel the others are way more superfluous and tend to kill too much including services that will automatically restart
I was looking for opinions about the "best" Task Manager for ICS.
Hopefully you want to share it
At the moment i'm using ES task manager, not bad, but i was wondering if there where better ones out there?
on ice hold the home button and all your recent windows come up and you can swipe them away to kill the task. This is built into ice. An additional task killer is not reccomended.

SystemPanel App...
i see a few different task killers posted here, though there isn't really a task killer that all of us must have...?
you may take a look or try Active Apps Ads / Task Manager ...
I use system tuner pro, it has a lot more functions than killing apps and uses very little RAM. To use all of it's functions, the device has to be rooted.
I use Advanced Task Killer Pro - works fine
