Yeah, same here. I actually put together a ROM for the first time. I'm going to upload it here for the heck of it.
This is basically the same as the ROM in OP's post. Deodexed, zipaligned.
I also removed:
Amazon Music Store
Facebook
Sprint Nascar
HTC Footprints and it's widget
Sprint NFL
Sprint TV and it's widget
Qik
Teeter
Sprint Hotspot
All but one alarm, ringtone and notification
I updated:
Superuser
Voice Search
Google Search
Sprint Visual Voice Mail
I fixed the market to show protected apps as well. Other than that it's 100% stock.
Here if anyone wants: http://www.4shared.com/file/HAcw-uok/dd_online.html
Did all that with that kitchen. Was pretty impressed.

Edit: Pushing the attached file to /system/lib/libnativetask.so will fix wireless tether. I'll upload an updated version that includes this and the tether application if this generates any interest.

@bcnice... i think SteelH means what are the differences between 3.26 and this new 3.28 OTA. I too would like to know the difference and if it is even worth the update. does it contain new radios? maybe an updated PRI? <---- that would be awesome! etc.etc.

The following files were changed by the new OTA:
* Browser, Calendar, HTC Album, HTC Contacts, Mail, PCSCII, Phone, debuggerd, dmagent, sequansd, kernel, a handful of lib files.
* There were no new radios with this update.

im not seeing a change in the kernel or the web browser vs what i had from your version Steelh.... i hope your planning on putting out your own as well
Those things mentioned that changed , meaning they visually changed ?
What version of wifi-tether have you guys gotten to work successfully? I just tried pre8 and it get FC every time. Rebooted and still get FC.
Is there a way to get the mms.apk from the MIUI rom working on cm6 or sense?
I dont like the stock messaging app on either aosp/sense and i hate that handcent has ads/ad bar.
While im asking, what about the vibrant mms.apk as well.
If impossible, delete this thread.

i have and they wont install. i tried using the auto-sign tool as well, which let me install, but FC'd every time.
It needs to be ported to the specific phone you're using unless you mod it to work off the original sense SMS app, similarly to how handcent SMS works.

I am interested in this too!
EDIT: 2.3.2 done
I noticed one annoying thing about Gmail for me. I always had to hit the big "Display Images" button to view emails properly.
So I decompiled it, did some editing, and got it to always display images period. Doesn't ever show that big ugly button either. All emails load images, it's great.
This is based on the latest FROYO Gmail. I may make a version for Eclair if there's enough people interested.
You will need to be rooted.
Method 1: adb push Gmail.apk /system/app
Method 2: copy Gmail.apk to /system/app using Root Explorer
Delete Gmail.odex from /system/app if it exists. Also delete GoogleMail.apk and GoogleMail.odex if they exist.
You may be able to simply uninstall the updates to Gmail and then install this like a normal app, it may not require root. Someone try it.
apk is attached
Nice, does it store also th emails like te Froyo one?
ohh cool....
ill try this later tonight... Thanks OP
Can you upload it somewhere else? I can't download it...

It IS the Froyo one, the only difference is that instead of there being a button "Display images" it just automatically displays images inside of emails.
Awesome, thanks for this as I was constantly annoyed by the display images as well. This feature (or an option) should be included in the next gapps.
Much appreciated!
Glad I wasn't the only one who wanted this lol
Is this cool w/ Google? If so, there are quite a few other enhancements I'd like to see!!
Thanks for the work,
Billy
Ahhhhh shhhhhhhhiiiit. God amongst men! This is great!
Awesome! You rock, this is one feature I always wanted.
eclair version please...=D

Alright I'll do it for 2.1 before the week is over
Please make it for eclair. I m most interested thanks in advance.
I must say brilliant idea and and an even more briliant stability
awesome, sweet hack.
nice work
I havent tried but surely a good change...
though i personally dont have a problem in clicking the "display image " button to display images
I gotta say man...this is the APP OF THE YEAR!! Great work!!
Can someone PM me the Gmail.apk from Eclair?
hi
can anyone tell me how to install it, maybe i am not doing it right.
i am on nexus one running on FRG83
Does anyone know of a way to get a black or transparent email (not gmail) for Weapon rom??
I tried to pull it from a different rom but it would not install.
As always, I will be sure to hit Thanks
Not sure, but I think eaglesblood froyo has black email. Maybe you can do something with that, although probably not. The gmail app has a nice gray color sorry for giving you alternatives instead of an answer.

Thats ok, you gave me an Idea though. I may be able to rip it out of the zip and switch it with the one in the rom I am using. Thanks
well, just in case anyone is searching this thread for answers, I ended up pulling the email apk from Faux's 2.3.5 rom (which is black) and I placed it into the "no wipe update zip" for weapon rom and flashed the zip. It worked fine, my email is now black. I also tried putting the camera in from the same rom (Faux's) but nothing changed on the camera. After reading the OP for Faux's rom, i have come to believe it didnt work because some of the camera is in framework.
Anyone bothered or attempted this at all? Any ideas? Everything else on my phone is black, but then when I open my Gallery, BAM! White background! I've been using QuickPic for a while, so I didn't really care, but I'd really like to start using the stock Gallery. Anyone care to tackle inverting this?

Amalgamation lol. And yes that includes Dialer and Contacts, although I am using Google Dialer, which is EXACTLY like ours except it has the Google caller ID/search. I found inverted Google Dialer and Contacts in the Nexus 5 Themes & Apps forum, and one of the guys in there was kind enough to fine tune it for my Moto X. I also managed to find the old BAKED Mms.apk with full theming capabilities. Then I used a combination of GravityBox KK and XBlast in Xposed to black out the framework and SystemUI. I get most of my other inverted apps from Kryten2k35 (creator of UltimaROM) and Team Black Out. It took some work, and definitely some cherry-picking, but the result is pretty sweet. Stock rooted Moto X completely blacked out... except for my stock Moto Gallery app, of course lol.

Ahh gotcha. Well if you unlocked and rooted you could request Nitro to add to to his dark theme, but you need to be running his eclipse ROM first

Thanks, but I'm on Sprint, so none of the ROMs currently available will work 100% for me. That's why I've just been sticking to stock rooted.

Here's what I have. Be aware that I saw some people saying that one or the other wasn't working for them. Idk why. They're both working perfectly for me. Rename Dialer.apk, Dialer.odex, Contacts.apk, and Contacts.odex to .bak. Then move the ones I've uploaded to /system, fix permissions to rw-r--r--, then move to /system/priv-app. Should be all good.

I've tried to get contacts to work so many time and it never does. I've given up. Dialer works great though. A black he gallery would be nice to. Inverted nearly everything one my moto.

The contacts.apk is fickle. I KNOW that one works, because I've managed to install it twice. But I did also have some trouble in between those two installations where it wouldn't show up. Idk what the actual issue is. I just kept at it until it worked. My best advice is to keep trying it with various combinations of rebooting, wiping cache and/or dalvik. All it takes is getting lucky one time and once the install actually sticks, you're laughing.

I've got QuickPic, which is, IMHO, the best 3rd party Gallery app there is. I just wanted to go stock and eliminate the need for a 3rd party gallery. Thanks though.
