It's on the revolutionay.io site... Option to download for linux or windows right on main page
.... Just download linux version and.run it same way, accept you have to run it with root permission on linux
And.yes,

Revolutionary worked fine for me on Gentoo (~amd64) when I rooted my wife's T-Bolt in Nov/Dec. I rooted my T-Bolt in March using the old adb method (psneuter, replace with modded version busybox, etc.) from Gentoo as well.
Well, actually there was a minor issue with the last step of Revolutionary (installing ClockworkMod), but that was trivial to do manually. If you're running Ubuntu/Debian, then I don't believe you'll encounter the issue.

it just sat at the 'waiting for device...' screen but i dont remember if i ran it c root permissions or not, ill def try that, thnx
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium

You definitely need to be root or run it via sudo. If that still doesn't work, you can generally see where it's failing by running strace on the process from another terminal (it's like truss on Solaris if you're familiar).

ill def try that after i kidnap my gfs phone without her knowing, haha

The only thing you have to do is read, follow instructions and make sure the proper files are in the proper locations.

Yes. SDK and drivers from HTC incredible SHOULD work. If you can get adb you're half the way there.
Please post the errors/problems you are having with getting temproot.

Help a Linux noob?

So ever since I lost root on Christmas day, literally got the update that broke razorclaw root about an hour after I rooted , I've been reading and searching and trying and reading some more.
Finally I'm admitting defeat. I am just unable to accomplish rooting my tf101 using vipermod on my Ubuntu machine. I'm not great at Linux and so afraid of messing up my tf.
So my question is this, is there anyone really patient and know Linux very well that can walk me through rooting using vipermod on Ubuntu?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
Just to add ... I'm not real dumb. With suggestions and a little help I can find my way around.
I just printed out how to get advanced working on Ubuntu so I'll try to follow this tutorial tonight and hope I have better luck
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Well now adb can see the transformer!
Does vipermod still work after the latest update fix?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Yes: Option 1 if on ICS Option 3 if on HC
Let me know if it works so I can stop searching for an alternative for your MAC.

Root

I have been looking for a way to root my droid pro since i got it. I am having problems on other forums.
Is there a wiki or a thread that somebody can direct me to that will show me how to downgrade to another android version and root my phone upgrade the version and keep root?
I am not asking for a one click method or anything lazy like that i will spend 3 hours typing commands into terminal on unix if that is what it takes to root my phone.
Even if the guaranteed method you point me to has a 95% chance of bricking my phone i will still try it i am determined to get this thing rooted.
Thanks for all help in advance.

Ubuntu for android

Ubuntu has been released for android. Will our devices be able to run it? If so, will it run well?
Sent from my Desire S using xda app-developers app
I get the feeling it won't work too well if it works at all.
I'm placing emphasis on dual-core on the website below.

What about apps?

No they cannot but they should be easily portable since android and Ubuntu for android use the same kernel.

Kernel - yes (sort of)
Framework (the thing apps rely on to work - no

This thread is surely aimed at Ubuntu Phone, not Ubuntu for Android, no?

I'd like to see this ported to DS, especially as my contract runs out soon!

I belive that it will be realised
So, if some kind soul ports it (We are actually talking about Ubuntu phone, but not Ubuntu for android right?)
would it pop up on the android development forum?
Ubuntu
How big is this Ubuntu and more important could a sort of dual boot setup be created like on a PCM so the android os could be primary and perhaps Ubuntu could be on a partition on the flash card.
I got a 64gb sd card class 10 so I'm looking for ways of using my space creatively

So, I made the switch!

Thinking about swapping my Droid DNA for a Galaxy S3 and $50. My Droid is freshly unlocked, rooted and s-off all using my Mac 10.6.8 with ADB commands. The Droid is also factory unlocked for any GSM SIM including att and T-Mobile. My issue is I can't find a way to root and unlock the S3 so I'm on the fence about swapping and of course losing this amazing Quad core krait power. Advice?

Get the S3 and to root and unlock the bootrom, you must use the Casual Rootkit. It will root your S3 and install Teamwin recovery. Trust me, it is worth it.

Go look at the Casual Toolkit thread and look at the issue I'm having. I'm the last post on there. Unless I can fix the issue, I can't get the phone because I can't root it. :/

Do you have stock ROM or a different ROM?

Because my S3 on VZW is rooted fully and Unlocked.
My Droid is custom. I haven't traded for the S3 yet because I can't get casual to run on my mac. The casual thread has the errors its giving me.

So, just traded my 3 week old DNA for a BRAND NEW S3. I'm sure I lost money on the trade but I feel at home with the S3. Now on to my problem, rooting it with a Mac or Linux (run from a live CD). advice?

Is your Mac on 10.8? If so, using Casual from Beanstown106 will work. You'll need Java 7 installed for Casual to work. I almost encourage you to use the Casual 634 from the Verizon GSIII section on Rootzwiki instead of the Casual 734 linked in the dev section of XDA. There seems to be some issues with r734 recognizing the device is connected but it can work even so.
Alternatively, you can do the manual route using Open1your1eyes0 root thread in the dev section. It requires Odin which works great on Windows, is incompatible on Mac, and idk about Linux.

I'm not sure you'll be getting Casual to work on your setup. Maybe try the manual method by Open1your1eyes0 or the toolkit by mskip. Like I said there, if these don't work then you might want to find a spare laptop when available and knock this out.
Can I use the Odin method with heimdall?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Cause I MIGHT be able to get heimdall working on my Mac....but I have never used heimdall in the past, I've always used Odin.

Its possible, but there is no documentation/thread that I know of that goes into detail for this device. Might have to look on the other carrier models for threads. Everyone always uses Odin.
Damn :/

Motochopper? Wasn't that for Motorola devices? Just asking general questions, what prompted you to try that?
Yes, you do need to be unlocked to flash roms. Are you positive you are rooted? Do you have working SU or SuperSU? If so, download EZ Unlock v1.2 from Rootwiki and press unlock.
Actually, I Google "root Verizon s3 4.1.2" and his exploit works on all american galaxy s3's
