GTA 3 Cheats How-To - Android Apps and Games

Hi folks,
I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, at least I couldn't find anything. So here goes...
As the Android version of GTA 3 is actually (more or less) a port of the PC version, you'll need to enter the PC cheats. The problem of invoking the virtual keyboard can be solved by using an app called GameKeyboard (Market link: http://bit.ly/sUoT3F). A very useful keyboard replacement btw, especially if you like emulators.
1. Download and install GameKeyboard
EDIT! There's a new version out (1.2.4), that allows you to use Vol+ button to call out the keyboard anytime:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So ignore # 2, 5 and 6 of this guide. Simply configure GameKeyboard, set it as default input method, start GTA 3 and press Vol+ to enter the cheats.
2. Put shortcuts to both GameKeyboard and GTA III on your device's desktop:
3. Start the app, tap & hold "Step 2: Tap here, then long press...", and select GameKeyboard as input method (you can chose any other keyboard, but stick to GameKeyboard, see #4):
4. Configure GameKeyboard. Important: configure at least one button to respond to "Enter", so you can resume your last game and actually begin playing (for some obscure reason, GTA won't respond to any virtual keyboards' Enter button, at least as far as I have tried); you might also want to select "Swipe Left/Right Action", set transparency and button size:
5. Now, below "Step 4", select "(Optional) Tap here to call out keyboard after exit"...
6. ...so you get something like this:
7. Start GTA III, hit the key you configured as "Enter" until your last savegame is resumed:
8. Once ingame, either swipe left or right across the Gamepad or press and hold (!) the back key for two seconds.
9. Either way, you'll end up seeing a transparent virtual keyboard. *Slowly* enter your cheats (e.g. Money cheat ) - don't tap too fast or the cheat won't be recognized:
That's it! You can even control GTA with GameKeyboard, but it's very clumsy IMO and frequently leads to crashes (in addition to the usual ones ). I've yet to find a safe way to invoke it while playing (NOPOLICEPLEASE...); the game crashes on me as soon as I hold the menu button to switch to the GameKeyboard app.
One strange thing I've encountered so far: the tank cheat doesn't work; "GIVEUSATANK" only makes different cars fall out of the sky . The tank cheat does work, but it's a bit tedious: you have to keep entering the cheat until the Rhino appears; but before it does, all sorts of cars will fall out of the sky. Once you see the ice cream truck and a short while after that the police car, it's not far
That's it! Have fun

For the sake of convenience, here are two settings files. You'll need a root explorer and root access to use them:
1. Copy "GTA III_profile.json" to /data/data/com.locnet.gamekeyboard
2. Copy "com.locnet.gamekeyboard_preferences.xml" into /dbdata/databases/com.locnet.gamekeyboard/shared_prefs
This will give you a set of predefined macros and a custom profile. Enter GameKeyboard's settings menu, select "Load Profile" and load "GTA III". The macros are defined like this:
Macro 1 = BANG
Macro 2 = MOREPOLICEPLEASE
Macro 3 = NOPOLICEPLEASE
Macro 4 = SKINCANCERFORME
Macro 5 = TORTOISE
Macro 6 = HEALTH
Macro 7 = IFIWEREARICHMAN
*Edit*:
Macro 8 = GIVEUSATANK
Macro 1 is assigned to button A, macro 2 to button B etc., macro 7 macro 8 to button R; button L works as "Enter" key so you can start the game and enter/exit cars. I set "BANG" (instead of BANGBANGBANG) in Macro 1 on purpose, so you can press it twice before the "Turismo" race starts, and once again as soon as it has begun to blow up the other cars .
You can also assign the macros to different buttons easily through GameKeyboard's settings menu.
*Edit*: I've reduced the keypress duration inside the macros from 400ms to 100ms, except in macro 1 (now 300ms) that crashed on me with lower settings.
Cheers!

Has anyone using a Droid Bionic tried this? I've tried several different ways to do this and none of them work for me. Game Keyboard will not pop up when hitting volume button. Even when i tried it the old way and the keyboard did come up, none of the cheat codes worked. I have also tried Wifi Keyboard to no avail. Any help would be appreicated. I have a feeling it's the Bionic.

In need of a special task manager to my PDA..

Okey.
I got a Qtek S100 (or Magican, as you call it...).
I've been searching around för task managers that fits my needs, including this forum. I've tried the most popular, and some other, but haven't got jackpot yet.
All of the task managers I've tested works like this: Hit an icon with the pen (or finger...) and a menu pops up.
I want to press a hardware button, to make the menu open.
A long time ago I had such a program. I had it on both of my iPAQ models. A 3630, and a 3660.
On these models these program was attatched to the right buttons, se picture:

I'm not sure what these programs where named, but now you've got a clue what I need.
Any idéas of programs?
Is it not possible for you to remap the buttons, I mapped the camera button on my xda 2 to execute tomtom for instance.
dont waste time trying to map the send/cancel button.
there is no way to map.
i have tried all the whole list of Mapping button program from pocketgear.
none able to do it
probably you want to download a program that has 2 functions in each hardware button
for example.
1. calendar (press one)
1. pocket word (press and hold)
2. contacts (press one)
2. pocket excel (press and hold)
so on...
there u go, you can launch 8 applications
The problem is not to execute a program, that I can do well. The problem is TO OPEN A MENU.
For instance, press a hardware button and the start menu opens...
But, I want a task bar, that I can open it's menu by pressing a hardware button.
the start menu is just like a launcher
i have no idea how to map the start menu to a button
anyway, let calculate the step
using finger to press start menu (only 1 move)
using finger to press hardware button (only 1 move)
since no solution, we have to face it

do you mean iTask??
buzz
I found "magic button" to be a useful task switcher - but I don't know a way of using it with the hardware buttons. I also use buttonMax - you can create a macro that taps the start menu and assign the macro to a hardware button. I use "program menu" as my start menu which supports hiararchial menus so you can have access to a large amount of apps using a couple of button presses.
http://www.pocketmax.net/buttonMax.htm
I have already tested before this question is asked.
the only thing that cannot be done (that how i feel), is by configuring the 'send' button to map to a program (such as photos contacts 1.0d)
urh.. this photos contacts is not the built in program, it is an external program

Update: Now I've found another one, and I like this one even better.
HandySwitch is the name..

Classic Game For Your XDA - "ANOTHER WORLD!"

This game was originally released on the Mac back in the early 1990's. The author then ported it to PC lter, and now a 3rd party, ith the authors permission of course, has ported it to WM5/WM6, and it is no freeware. The PC version still costs $8.99, but the mobile version is free.

Wow! Thanks. I played it on my (still alive) Amiga1200.
thanks for the heads-up!
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2432836 for a quick review & tips.
hey a cannot open the download can you help me pleaase!! I love this game!!
Cool! I played this game when it was released on the PC, and at the time it was impressive: Smooth animations and a sound quality not heard until then (when the most you got were bips) . Not to mention that it was a well developed story.
Update: I just installed it on my Samsung i780 and F-S Loox N560, it doesn't work on either . So it's probably QVGA compatible only. I will test it on my Touch and see if it works there. BTW, there's a Game Boy Advanced version as well that was ported some years ago.

Assign the left (right?) softkey functionality to Camera to be able to bring up the menu.
Do I have to resign my softkeys on my prophet, too? Why couldn't they make this easier?

this is so incredible.
younger forum users won't probably imagine how shocking such news may be...for few.
This is a really stupid question, but how do you beat that first monster? The only moves he seems to be able to do is the jump kick (up) and the just a regular kick.
thanks,i played it on some kind of emulator few years ago,and it was really interesting,but i came to a part where some bug appeared and the game would just crash...thanks again,i'll be sure to try it

run past him...i can't really remember how coz i palyed it some time ago but in the 2. or third scene is some kind of obstacle or an elevation,so play with the monster,lure him to the first scene,then run past...or something like that...anyway you can't kill it

Run to the left, when he's about to jump over you, jump and keep running to the left. In the last screen you'll see a rope over the edge of the rock, jump from there and he'll grab the rope and move from left to right over the monster, then run all the way to the right.
BTW it's a great port. But I have found no simple way to bring up the menu on the HTC Touch. I mapped the camera button to left or right soft-key with no luck. Then I found that if you hold the power button as if you where going to power it off, as soon as the confirmation dialog appears, you can say "no" and the menu of Another World will pop up so you can quit without having to reset or power off.
Doesnt work on the Raphael.

Yeah i have the same troubles on my Touch Cruise.
I mapped left soft key to kamera or voice button (button 4) but it didn't help. Mapping is working in manila 2D, but not in the game (. So u cannot even enter code to continue in game.
Try to do the same: Hold the power button until a dialog asks to shut down. Cancel and the menu of Another World will appear.
Unfortunately I sold my Touch (to get a Diamond) and I can no longer play it since VGA is not supported .
Doesn't work on the Motorola Q. It looks like this:
Please help me. Broken GAPI and/or lack of screen rotation destroy it's value for games, emulators and applications
Wow, I just checked back...cant believe so many ppl replied to this and know about the game....cool

[GAME] DUNE on Android : One of the best "point & click" ! FREE ;) !

Hi all !
More than 10 years ago, I was playing Dune on my compter ! Now, I tried to "emulate" it on my Windows 7 64 bits, but it's crashing so I looked around to make it work for Android, and I succeed on my HTC Desire HD (WVGA Device). Should work for all other WVGA devices, dunno for others !
In more, as it's an abandonware, it's free.

How to ? Step by step :
1. Download and install this : http://code.google.com/p/adosbox/downloads/detail?name=aDOSBox-0.2-beta.apk
2. Get the game for free HERE* : http://www.bestoldgames.net/eng/old-games/dune.php
3. Extract the folder "dune" from the zip to the root of sdcard. Unplug your mobile from your computer
4. Launcher aDOSbox downloaded in step1 and then :
- Make Menu to get keyboard
- Type cd dune and do enter or hit the square with one inside
- Type dune and do enter or hit the square with one inside
- Game launched !
*I did not tried with the ENGLISH version but with the FRENCH VERSION HERE, but normally it's the same
Tips in game
- Personnaly, I only use the pad from the emulator + the square with the number 1 inside which is equal to "normal clic" with the mouse
- To save/load game :
> Make "SEE DUNE MAP"
> On the left down corner, go to yellow "ball"
> There, you have Menu with "Save/Load Game", 2 slots available
- You can also save when you are in front of the mirror

Great game!
Also working in the same way, the game "Carmen San Diego"
oh man, i got a huge list of good old games, i just need more space on my phone to install them all.
there are several good legit abandonedware websites, which will pull any title off if & when they become re-licensed.
One of the best ones I know is "Home of the Underdogs"..... Oy... Yet another way to waste my time.... Lol.
Works on the Viewsonic G Tablet.
Big Thanks!!
Happy you enjoy it !
After some hours of playing DUNE, the gameplay is really playable, and the game is still so amazing !
One of the best classic games ever IMHO.
Well I got no sound Any chance to get the option screen back @ first launch? Maybe there are some sound settings

In aDOSbox, to make the keyboard appears, simply press Menu (maybe several times). Did you tried to do that?
In the game "Dune", you never need the keyboard
Keep me informed,

Yeah, I tried that but no keyboard appears. However, it is up when I exit ADosBox??

If you haven't heard of LocNet's GameKeyboard, it's basically an app that allows you to do multiple things; from creating an on-screen game-keyboard to re-mapping hardware keys.
The official 2.0 update has been released that allows something absolutely revolutionary for Xperia PLAY owners; touch-screen to hardware keyboard action mapping.
...and what does that mean? ALL Android games become Xperia PLAY Optimized... never again will we have to use lame-ass touch controls for games that are clearly too action-reaction based to be played with virtual buttons
BASIC SETUP TUTORIAL:
REQUIREMENTS:
• Root Access (SEE THIS THREAD!)
SETUP PROCESS:
• Step 1: Install and open GameKeyboard. Click "Step 1: Tap here, find..." and Check the box next to Game Keyboard
• Step 2: Long-press the "Step 2: Tap here and..." area until a window pops up; select "Input Method", then select "Game Keyboard"
• Step 3: Click the Button that says "Step 4: (Optional) Tap here to..." There are a number of changes we must make here.
........- Click "Select Gamepad," and select "8 buttons"
........- If necessary, check the box that says "8-way D-Pad"
........- Check the Box that says "Re-map Hardkey" (Checking the "Show start and select is not necessary")
• Step 4: Enter the "Hardkey Mappings" sub-menu, we will make a number of re-maps here
........- Select "Mapping 1". When the window appears, press X on your Xperia Play, then scroll down to "Gamepad A"
........- Select "Mapping 2". When the window appears, press O on your Xperia Play, then scroll down to "Gamepad B"
........- Select "Mapping 3". When the window appears, press Select on your Xperia Play, then scroll down to "Gamepad Z"
........- Select "Mapping 4". When the window appears, press Start on your Xperia Play, then scroll down to "Gamepad C"
........- Press the phone's back hardware key to exit "Hardkey Mappings" (NOTE: Circle no longer doubles as "back")
• Step 5: Enter the "Layout Edit" Sub-Menu, Check both "Layout Edit Mode" and "Enable Custom Layout," then press back
• Step 6: Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this menu and select "Touchscreen Mode"
• Step 7: That's it! From here you can easily pull up the GameKeyboard, and start drag-mapping touch-screen actions to hardware keys or importing from the archive of pre-made game configurations if you don't want to manually configure every game.

I messaged the Sixaxis app dude about this ages ago and he was not bothered. Love the idea lets hope it works well, touch pad would be nice but thinking it will only be buttons for now. I use the sixaxis app with a few other droids and you can get touch profiles working perfect. Sony should have made this an inbuilt feature. Nice Find

You can make LocNet's virtual control pad disappear just by hitting "back" (and the controls will still work)... but for each individual game... that all relies on whether or not the specific developer was thoughtful enough to add transparency toggling.

Yep, that's the software, but presently that doesn't have the functionality I'm emphasizing in this thread. With that version, all you can really do is re-map hardware keys. No touch-screen to hardware key option.
Re-upped the video... couldn't let people endure the torture of that doubled, garbled audio
I see two problems
1. Are we going to have to change the button mappings every time we play a different game? Or does it save the settings for each individual game?
2. Are we going to have to swap from text keyboard to game keyboard at the start of every game and then switch back to text keyboard afterwards?
I've been using this with my tablet... wonder if it will work of my xplay...

What about this free alternative, seems like it would work about the same without having to pay $2.50:

I actually thought about posting it with the OP; but I'm pretty sure that'd violate their policy and XDAs since it is, in fact, paid software.
This is sweet! I got this keyboard a couple months ago for cheats in gta3. Any idea of an eta for the new version?
@TLR, i was actually fiddling with this app a few days ago, and whilst i think its fantastic, ....how in gods name do you do capital letters???? I needed it for a password and i had nfi how to do it.
apart from that i think the transparent mode could be a bit less intrusive, the keyboard a bit more full featured (capitals and symbols would be nice) but thats about it, if he cleared those up id be a happy camper, and now with the onscreen to hw mapping, hes basically just revolutionised android gaming for us xplay and hw keyboard folks.

Thanks @thahim, actually i'm working to enhance it, it was tested with H.A.W.X and mafia and many other games but not GTA
using accelerometer to simulate actual keys is pretty complex, so i will add option to control sensitivity of motion which i think is the problem in GTA case if the traditional controls are working fine.
Please make sure that:
You must click and hold on directions empty circle to activate motion while you are playing, which gives you more control when you want to stop moving in game by touch up or swipe out of the circle.

Accelerometer motions simulate arrow keys movments on windows
I haven't tried it yet, but I believe it will support multiplayer mode. maybe 2 phones connected to the same server.
Great Idea! I am trying this on the Moto X and my W8.1.1 machine. It says client is offline at the bottom of the client and it cannot connectoon the Moto X. Is there a fix/
subscribed and following... great idea love to see it pan out to multiple games and OSs.... used on H.A.W.X(i just had the game just my luck) works decent no problems as of yet... Win7 and nexus5
Great work. Grats. Any possibility to add 2 controller in a future? Fantastic to play with emulators

how does it work
Add Analog Sticks?
Maybe add the addition of 1 or 2 analog sticks (optional of course) so you can use it with Emulators!
Overall though, such a good app.
is it possible to use this to play metro game app in win 8.1
Nice app
This app idea is good but i didn't found it very much working for example i tested Assassin creed brotherhood with it and there are following drawback which kept me from enjoying game
- First of all buttons was not enough it need at least 11 buttons just for movement attack and to scroll weapons and there was only 8
- when i updated buttons setting for it it didn't got updated even after reconnecting
- The Gyro movement and senstivity is pretty confusing...
hope u can fix this....I recommend u to add settings from popular gamepads and plz add more buttons 11-12 are required buttons for most of games....
one thing i liked it was lag free......
thank you sir I will try to,
:good::laugh:
OMG first all it is a wonderful app, it connected straight away, I could launch the games straight away from my phone, and I the motion seemed to be working for a few minutes, though glitchy a little bit, BUT Overall I am absolutely blown away by this amazing app. Maybe wait till it grows into a more mature app then maybe I could even replace my controller for it
i used to play with my Xperia Play as a joystick using the Njoy app and the server, but it only supports GB and i'm now using cm10 so it doesn't work anymore.
So,i have questions, can i map my own profiles? Can i use my phisical keys?
Im gonna try and come with feddback
Looks cool
Will give it a shot
