Hi All...new to the forums so I can't post this in the Sky Ice Cream Sandwich thread...
I'm continuously getting an error message when attempting to install Sky Ice Cream Sandwich RC5_b. I am currently running RC5 (which installed easily on the first attempt) but understand that there are numerous changes that make moving to RC5_b a necessity.
I do a complete wipe, clear caches a few times each, delete system, and get the following in CWM:
Formatting system
Extracting data
Extracting system dir
Setting symlinks
Setting permissions
Flashing boot.img
Brick
After 5 attempts at installation, I start to get:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/skyrocketSZ-RC5_b.zip (bad)
Installation aborted.
Have tried re-downloading RC5_b to figure out if something went wrong with my initial download. Unfortunately, same result.
BTW...the rom in on my external SD. CWM is installed on the internal sd.
Any help would be appreciated!

I'm new to rooting and installing custom roms. I used unrevoked 3 to root my ego, then I created an nandroid and wipe my phone. Next, I rebooted the phone to download the free version of ROM manager from the market. I used the ROM manager to download cyanogenmod 6 (stable). After downloading the rom, I did as the screen prompted me and wipe the phone and created a backup. From here the installation process begins and end with

I haven't a clue what to do at this point.
Can someone please help?
"E: Error in /sdcard/clockwork/download/mirror.kanged.net/cm/stable/supersonic/update-cm-6.0.0-supersonic-signed.zip"
Read this link, I think it is about the same problem.
http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actuarial_discussion_forum/showthread.php?t=195406&page=46
If I still can not post a link cause I am new, then I googled this:
mirror.kanged.net/cm/stable/supersonic/update-cm-6.0.0-supersonic-signed.zip"
I got three hits, read the first one "maybe we need and android tweeking ...."
Also check this out. I am tempted to say you downloaded the link to the actual file that you want and not the file. Here is the link to the actual file.
http://mirror.kanged.net/cm/stable/supersonic/update-cm-6.0.0-Supersonic-signed.zip
Click that link and then you download the file you need.

I am rooted. I was attempting to deodex my Samsung Fascinate. I downloaded the .zip to my sdcard, booted into cwm recovery, made a nandroid backup, selected to install the .zip file from my sdcard and then it starts and freezes,
my screen shows:

i end up having to do a battery pull to reboot my phone. I had the same problem trying to load custom roms on my DX too. If anyone could help that would be awesome. Thanks
i rooted using exploit v 2.3.0 with superuser.apk and it worked on my epic since i see superuser. the problem i have is that when i download rom manager and install clockworkmod 2.5.1.0 from rom manager for my epic. then i proceed to backup current rom, i give it a name and then reboots my phone to factory recovery and this is what i see:
android system recovery <2e>
samsung recovery utils
-for BML-
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data cache
wipe cache partition
install from package...
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole file signature
E:signature verification failed
insstallation aborted
can anyone help me backup so I can download new roms afterwards.
Clockwork didn't install bro. Try using the run last.bat, that one works when not rooted, I had issues when already rooted sometimes. You could also try selecting apply update.zip, I think flashing recovery in rom manager puts an update.zip on your sd which opens cockwork recovery when applied from stock rec

where can I find the run.bat file? I have looked in the clockworkmod folder on the sdcard, not there tho.
selecting apply update.zip also does the exact same thing

I have installed the Jelly Miui 3.1.11 custom ROM on my HTC Desire HD, and i'm loving this ROM execpt my GPS is not working (but 3G and WI FI working fine).
Is there something wrong with my install or are these comon bugs with this custom rom?
Does anyone know a fix for these problems?
HISTORY (I am noob but have somehow got this far without bricking my phone)
1. I rooted my phone last year with the ace hack kit from XDA which enabled me to break free.
2. First I installed [Blackout ICS Incredible v3.0.0.0] custom ROM which was exciting for first cutom ROM experience but only OK.
3. I then tried [CodefireX 4.2 Builds by synergye] which was OK but I found it bad 3G and GPS bugs.
4. I have now installed [JellyMIUI_3.1.11_v2] which is AWESOME but GPS not working (So disappointed as this is the best ROM by far so far).
Note: Whenever installing custom ROM's I have followed install instructions on XDA thread for the ROM and installed ROM zip file from SD card via ClockworkMod.
Note: XDA [JellyMIUI_3.1.11_v2] install instructions suggest to Full wipe using this "FULL_WIPE_1.5_EXT4_" ZIP file before installing the ROM zip. At this stage during wipe I get the following error when it gets to Formatting Cache stage:
/cache unmounted E: Error in / sdcard/FULL_WIPE_1.5_EXT4_.zip
(Status 1)
Installation aborted.
E: Can't open /cache/recovery log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery last_log
Even though I get this error during wipe I continue to install the [JellyMIUI_3.1.11_v2] zip from sd card after the Full Wipe error and the ROM seems to install ok (except my GPS doesn't work)?
Other Notes:
While using [JellyMIUI_3.1.11_v2] I received a notification that an OTA update to 3.1.18 was available, however when I select the update it fails to download.
I then updated to 3.1.18 via clockworkmod update from zip which worked, however still no GPS and also now no WI FI available.
I then downgraded back to 3.1.11 via clockworkmod update from zip again, still no GPS but WI FI is working again.

Hi,
Try a newer radio, go for this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9891581&postcount=2.
Follow the instructions to install the latest Radio.
I've had to flash this radio because my GPS wouldn't work since I the upgraded to Jelly MIUI 3.1.25, Android 4.1.2 ROM on my Desire HD.
After the radio update, now. I get a GPS fix within seconds and my phone has never been as responsive as it is now!
Definitely worth a shot.
Hi there, if anyone could help me get through this installation, it'd be greatly appreciated.
I'm a newbie at flashing, but not a newbie with computers.
I'm trying to flash CM 11S v1.5 but have run into numerous issues. I'm running CWM, have updated bootloader (HHZ11K), and my drivers are on point.
Right now, I'm trying to have it install from the zip in the root directory, and it won't install:
"E:Can't open ... (bad)
Installation aborted."
If I toggle signature verification, it says:
"Finding update package ...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:footer is wrong
E:signature verification failed"
What am I doing wrong?
Bad means corrupt. Re-download
