I would love to use this but I'm having trouble getting CWM on the Kyros 7012. I have been unable to get any questions answered. I used Snuffy Recovery 7012.

I did donate but I'm having major problems. I installed Bulldog B20 on a 7012 and I'm having major problems with the keyboard and Android Market. Is there a better ROM I should be using for the Coby?

Does anyone have experience using KTZ roms on Coby tablets?
I have a 7012 sitting around and I'm tempted to get a custom firmware, but I'm also aware that there's only so much that a rom change.
I'd like to hear from people who have actually installed a custom firmware to see if it's worth the ~ $10.

AFAIK it's based on a Telechips 8902. It's only 720MHz, so you probably won't be developing for it. Thanks though.

Coby Kyros 7012 - How to install CyanogenMod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625284
Original Dev thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101094
If you are feeling experimental - see if you can port some of the HTC Flyer stuff on to it using that kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610925
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/first-ics-rom-for-htc-flyer/
I have not tried it - just my two cents - so please ensure you have adequate backup/recovery to resuscitate it in case anything goes wrong - search for snuffy recovery on this board.
Please don't blame me for any of my harebrained advice since it has been over a year and a half since I last messed around with the Coby Kyros
As far as Flash Support goes, there are work arounds, but nothing long term since it only lasts until next reboot

Hope it helps.

Great info! I installed the Cyanogenmod 7.2 port for the MID7016 and it runs fairly well, but there is room for improvement.
And I made sure to install Snuffy before doing ANYTHING
I'll look into the porting options. I didn't have any Android experience until about a week ago. Now I have the 7012 tablet and an HTC Magic. Both had been sitting in my basement for months collecting dust.

You are coming from GSF and already tried CM7.1, true? This one is better? It could be interesting to have a more complete feedback/comparison, if you are willing to do so. Thanks!
Tuc
Yep, already tried CM7.1.0 - which sucks, then GSF 27 - smooth, and then this one - super smooth. Absolutely felt in love with my blade (switched from LG Optimus Black).
thanks for another rom elitemovil.
Any idea why I get a very low score for cpu float point calculation in antutu with this rom? Its down at 15 when its normally at least 100 in other roms

No not directly. First you need to upgrade to Gen 2 using the TPT thing. Think you can find it on Modaco forums (http://android.modaco.com/forum/488-zte-blade-libra-roms-rom-customisation/ ) if not here somewhere.
GPS fix
What is exactly to be fixed with the GPS?
thanks for your sharing, but which you version of rom you are mention?
the OC or the without OC?
hi, any chance to make the hspa signal show "H" at status bar?

Solved more or less... after reboot the BT recovered to a normal state. Anyway I have done sth really nasty: restored application which were backed up under a different system.
Now It run after a facory reset, all apps are installed from market (or SD card). Much better... I did not try the BT after the reset.
I have seen a freeze/reboot while using a normal (not rooted system) app: WhatGas.
And the Q.: why did you changed the stock mail app? K9 can not connect our exchange server, and it does not even appear under the settings/accounts menu. Useless for me.
Issues with the rom
Unfortunatelly I have several issues with this ROM in first several minutes:
1) Incorrect Russian translation, which causes crash in Settings - Application menu (in English it is working fine)
2) Proximity sensor works incorrectly (it just shut down during the conversation and it is really difficult to turn it on again)
I have tried to flash original ROM but in this case screen does not turn off during conversation at all.
Is it possible just to convert an original rom into GEN2 without deleting/adding anything (including non-overclockable kernel) to test an original rom without the risk of stucking on it? I believe, this could be really useful.
Hi, rom is working smooth, but I cant get adb over usb to work, both on mac or pc.
And I need it for development. It was working on stock 2.2.
Hi,
I've a few questions
What exactly is been fixed with the 'GPS-fix' ?
Can the 'Official Kernel' be flashed into other ROM's like Burstlam's updates ?
TIA
Dirk

ROM Factory
What is ROM Factory?
Its a tool that will allow the user to create a picture perfect .img from your boot and system partition. It will then create an update.zip from it.
What is a "Fruit Cake"?
A fruit cake is the finish product, a self contain rom, already ready for installation, already inside an update.zip.
So really what does it do?
It allows a bootloader unlocked user to create a full copy of their boot and system partition. All of it, including mods and changes done to either one of those partitions.
Can this be use for easier rom development?
Yes! Beyond just its normal capabilities! After installing the resources you can modify the script and add things to it in *sdcard* /fcm/workdir! Once you are done adding and changing things in there, press "Create ROM".
Supported Devices:
olympus (atrix), sunfire (photon), triumph, WX435, fb0 (triumph), p999 (lg g2x), p990 (lg o2x), p970 (lg optimus black), ace (htc desired hd), pyramid (htc sensation), galaxys2, GT-I9100, GT-I9100M, GT-I9100T, SGH-I777, SGH-I727, hercules, crespo (nexus s), crespo4g (nexus s 4g), toro (cdma galaxy nexus), maguro (gsm galaxy nexus)
Experimental Support:

Your phone must be rooted!
Step One: Press the Install Resources button on screen.
Patience this step could take up to 5 minutes.
Step Two: Press the Create Fruit Cake button on the screen.
Patience this step could take up to 5 minutes.
You use this application at your own risk, I am in no way responsible for any damage this application causes.

No.
One of the biggest reasons is that Whitehawkx released some of his personally written files to ease porting of MIUI from the O2X, so now there are a dozen and a half MIUI variants. The others just happen to be around - people have a lot of spare time during December it seems.
Oh just wondering thanks
Nvidia always!
So are people going to post their set ups in here? And do you flash this update zip like any other Rom?

1.6 - The update that took a month. Will be release today. This will be amazing. I'm just waiting on testers.
Advance Mode
Apps Mode
Back Up Mode
New look
Open Source components
New site, new forums, new devices.
The update will be made available late tonight or early tomorrow. Depends on how tire I am after i get off work.
We are alive and kicking. Since release, Fruit Cake Maker has been downloaded 1,956 times. We are 556 active developers. A total of 12 bugs have been crushed. We currently work on 20+ devices and devices variants.
Nightlys and experimental.
Starting Feb 1st or 2nd. My build bot will begin auto compiling nightlys for those who want to experiment with the latest changes. Nightlys will be compile each night and made available no later than midnight.
An experimental build will begin to be compile mid Feb. the build will be compile every friday at 6pm. The experimental build will feture a different preference screen, and will require the user to specify all the variables. ie: boot location, system location, storage, mode. so on. This build aims at enthusiast who wish to use the tool on a non supported device.
FCM now has requirements. Busybox must be installed to use the back up mode.
Thank guys for your support.
I'm currently waiting on Google.
I submitted the new version into the market, but somehow i ended up with an older version being available for download. hopefully this issue will be solved soon. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
1.6 finally!
Some of the testers are reporting errors with the new modes, but changing storage location seem to be working quit good. I will be writing a tutorial on how to properly use all the new modes. Regardless, this new version requires Busybox for app mode, and back up mode. It must be installed on /system/xbin << same location used by cm7 and cm9. I will be releasing a new version tomorrow or Thursday, to fix some of the new mode woes.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you! works very good!
I'm so proud I could cry lol
I'll get to work pulling the apps and framework and deodixng for you, I'll see if I can grab the framework and bluetooth drivers from 314 and port them over.
Thank you again! I'm also proud lol.
Deodexing not worked for me yesterday. The deodexing script went great, it deodexed every apk and framework jar from the system, but after pushing them back, it just gave me a boot loop.
I'm also working on it.
Im a noob at flashing roms. Can you please list the step by step
Download the flash tool and the rom, but in the same folder both. Press the reset on your tablet and when you release immediately press the menu+power button. In the flash tool select the ini file depend on you have 512 or 1 gb and for the other slot the vortex.pak and press the button... this is the short version

Better drain is the bug of the stock rom, and because we don't have the source I haven't found a workaround yet. Hopefully it will be fixed in the stock rom soon. One thing is for sure: it not use deep idle mod, so it almost drain as fast as when your screen is off, when it on. (except the screen, of course). But if you power off your device totally when you not use it and it only turned on when you use it, the battery just similar to 2.3.

Wow! Thanks! But I don't think this is the same device but it could work... to tell you the truth I not really want to modify the kernel. It could be dangerous... But I take a look at it.
Yesterday I got a weird idea. Port the Clockworkmod recovery to our device.
It could be very useful but currently I don't know I have enough knowledge to do that.
Edit: just now see what you linked contain the source of the recovery... I just try to compile it, and see is it working on our device or not. Maybe we have a change to clockwork recovery?
I just got a tablet as a gift. On the box it says SuperPad VI, but on the sales receipt it says Tablet PC SuperPad IV. In settings it just says MID. Is it one of those tablets you are speaking of here? I would like to root it. Sorry it is my first tablet and i am still a noob on it.

you need a cortex a8 which is: Flytouch 4s/5s/6/7/V10
So it should work.
do you have android 2.2 installed? then 90% possibility of being a ft4. android 2.3 could be a superpad 6. or FT6
If you're not sure what tablet you have then download any of the benchmarking apps off the market and see what CPU it says you have.
If it says it's an X220 then you have a DISCO, P041 or SAWEE these are Froyo 2.2, there's some that have been sold with the build.prop edited to say they are Gingerbread 2.3 but they aren't, they are still 2.2
If it's a Cortex A8 then this rom will work on it, but only if it's a 10 inch resistive screen.
Thanks for your answers, i installed android system info and it gives following data among other
Andriod version 2.3
cpu abi armeabi v7a
maker vimicro
device vortex
screen 1024x600 160 dpi
processor armv7 processor rev 2
vimicro vortex android 2.3.... you have a superpad VI...

any1 tried this out yet?
It is a well made rom, i personally have used it and have not run into any issues as of yet. It is worth a try, it is slighly modified and slimmed down so it runs quite well
Might've got a bad DL (didn't check md5) but the Play Store icon takes me to the sign in page and then closes when I hit next. Anybody else?

Might want to write that this is for a WiFi only device.
Nice, will test this out!
Does this rom work on a GT-P5110 WiFi?
I noticed some custom roms showing up and they all are for the GT-5113 i have the P5110 and want to know if this rom will work on my tablet. Maybe you can tell me the difference between the two devices?
The european version does not have the IR Modul i does not use this Rom but for example with the cleanrom it worked for me to flash a usa Version on my european Tab

Thanks I should have known that. Thats what happens when you only run 2 different roms on your phone for a year or so.

Even better, is it possible to remove the entire MiniApps bar? I have the Tab2 for 2 days only, and I already hate the customized navbar...
So far so good, this Rom feels lite on tab and it's a big improvement over stock, part of that is the fact that a lot of software is removed.
Got my task/app manager back, unzipped stock Rom and pushed the apk into system app's . All is well.
Thanks for the infection

[Q] Reducing Bloat on Huawei Ascend Y100 (U8185) - Root Required?

I recently bought a PAYG Y100 on O2 to act as a wireless hotspot when I'm working in offices without convenient Internet access, but now I'm itching to root the device and clean out some of the bloat.
I realise it's pretty new and (I think) exclusive to O2, but there's not much information about it in the forums. Do I need to root it to delete the unwanted APK files? Are there any tools that can root this phone (searched and tried some, without success)?
If there's no tool, is there a rooted ROM that's guaranteed not to brick the U8185? It's running 2.3.6 and the link below implies that it's got the same kernel as the U8818, U8815 and U8655. I've drawn a blank on working rooting tools for those devices too.
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDU5NTk=
Any advice gratefully received
I recently bought one too, with the sole intent of hacking it. I'm just experimenting and documenting as I go. Right now I have stock recovery, fastboot mode, and a kernel compiled. I haven't found any stock ROMs for download, and I haven't figured out how to get root yet...
My notes so far: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UxPGSzPgogNU6VkjNFlASJgpG3nVEgLoE-8K3Qlo43Y/edit
I'm building an army to help hack this device... hang tight, we'll have root and stuff soon I hope.
Yes you need root permission. Just get rooted (easily done) then get Titanium Backup from the play store and it will allow you to remove bloatware of any kind. Be safe though and dont delete important system files. or install a clean rom with no bloatware

I'm not aware of any root on this device yet. I tried for some time yesterday, but I never managed. It's a bit harder on U8185 because we don't have any stock ROMs yet... kernel source is nice, but we don't have a RAM disk to pair with custom kernels, and no stock kernel flash back in case we brick it.

This is great news - glad to see that greater minds than mine are working on this phone. I'm very pleased with it, but it needs a few tweaks. I'll be watching your progress with interest. Thanks.
Root... w00t?
It was a bit crude... but I got root on the Y100:

ClockworkMod Recovery working
I just finished porting ClockworkMod Recovery to the Ascend Y100. This means we can now flash ROMs, kernels, root, etc. Here's a screenshot:
You can build it yourself from my CyanogenMod 9 device tree: https://github.com/alanorth/android_device_huawei_u8185
Stay tuned for downloads, instructions, etc.
Edit: I've posted more info and download links on my blog here: http://mjanja.co.ke/2012/07/clockworkmod-recovery-for-huawei-u8185/ I'll post on XDA as I get more time.
Excellent news - on holiday at the moment but will check this out when I get back. Thanks

I'm looking for an UN official ROM! Even the rooted stock ROM blows my work Gio away on benchmark tests. Linmark gives it nearly 21!

Hey. There's a lean custom ROM here: http://blog.podtwo.com/android/rom/de-branded ROM for Huawei U8185 [gingerbread].html
It's a debranded stock ROM, so nothing crazy like custom kernels or weird bootscreens. Just lean.

Thanks, will check it out. How is your CM9 build going? I saw you recently got the GPS and RIL working. Must fix my repo and try another build.

Can anyone upload the stock ROM for the Y100 somewhere? The link here is to a removed file on mediafire
Thanks!
Stock roms
I founf this link for stock rom's not up to speed with rooting these devices yet, very new to the smartphone scene. Hope this will help reduce the bloatware on theis fone as it seems quite nice ( especially at £25 from O2 shop last week )
*** forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f717/f-q-frequently-asked-questions-1411931/index2.html#post8821770 *** can't post link yet
I've already got it unlocked from O2 ( via online form on O2 website ) and would love to free up some space on it.
Ideally I'd like to back up the existing setup and then replace with a 'clean' stock rom. Not overly bothered about rooting it, just cleaning it up.
Hope this help

Alan, I bought this device back in February to use as a hotspot on camping holidays, very interested on getting CM on it... Read your blog posts and see you have GPS and WiFi working somewhat... Any progress on this? Have been flashing ROMs since the G1 but have never gotten my hands dirty and built from source. Do you have a link to a recent build, or is there a way for me to build from your sources? Really excited about this. Thanks!
