Al lot of us has had more than our fair share of smartphones, so for fun post your history all the way to your most current!!! Or what you remember lol
Ill start (oh boy...)
•HTC Mogul (my first PocketPC)
•HTC Touch (Small and packed a punch)
•HTC Touch Pro (Pretty, but absolute crap)
•Touch Pro 2 (solid phone but WM was dying)
•Palm Pre (loved it but no growth)
•HTC Hero (my first Android, Sense rocks but laggy POS)
•Samsung Moment (nice android overall)
•HTC EVO 4G (awesome)
•Samsung Epic 4G (awesomer)
•HTC HD7 (i love WP7 but its not ready yet)
•Samsung Vibrant (ICS Passion FTW)
•G2 (good phone, crap hinge)
•myTouch 4G (awesome overall phone)
•HD2 (endless fun)
•TMO Comet (temp phone till i got a new one, held up nicely)
•EVO 3D (great phone, crap data speeds)
•LG Optimus T (good little bugger... CM7 gave it helluva life)
•HTC Sensation (meh...)
•Nexus S (too bad I got rid of it b4 ICS )
•AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II (very nice!!!)
•HTC TITAN (loved it but wifi issues made me get rid of it)
•iPhone 4 white (I see myself using one long term... not now though)
•Samsung Captivate running ICS (money troubles hurled me back to mid-end)
•Samsung Focus (current, till I get back on the high horse)
>>>Next? Either Lumia 900 or Galaxy Nexus
Not counting all the times I swapped back and forth between phones I already owned before

You are joking right?
My smartphone history started with the Samsung I7500 Galaxy
(I didn't know a lot about android & updates), then I went to HTC HD2 (didn't like the windows OS so I booted on Android from the SD) and finally I got the one I wanted: Samsung Galaxy S (excellent till now running on MIUI Rom)
PS: I somehow got in my hands for a few weeks a brand new iphone 4 but I sold it...I had Samsung Galaxy S so their was no need to keep the iphone 4.
BlackBerry Storm
BlackBerry Storm 2
HTC Droid Incredible
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
So as you can see the curve goes up ;-)

TMO BB 7230 > Nextel BB 7510 > Nextel BB 7520 > Cingular BB 7290 > Sprint BB 7130e > TMO BB Pearl Flip > VZ Droid Eris > VZ Samsung Fascinate
The first 4 blackberries were company owned devices. The 7130e was bought for me by my girlfriend at the time. The Pearl Flip I bought because I wanted a phone that I could physically sync my contacts to without needing a data plan.
I got the Eris when I got married and ported my phone # over to my wife's plan.
I bought the used Fascinate at Cowboom for $65 last month. I'm ready for an upgrade on my account and had originally wanted the LG Revolution, but the Fascinate right now is good enough and I may end up waiting to see if any true SGS II devices come out on Verizon.
Iphone 3G then an iPhone 4.... yeah that's my total history yet i am planning on picking up a Nexus soon once they are out on my carrier (should be next month)
Xperia X10 Mini Pro. First smartphone (I am only 14 years old) but I had 2 other feature phones already. Planned upgrade to Xperia Nozomi.

My first smartphone experience was actually the android emulator.
After that I was able to play with some old Blackberry Phone of a friend of mine, then I got the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, if that counts as a smartphone.
Shortly afterwards I switched to HTC Desire Z, which I currently use.
HTC-HD2 is my first one!!
Mine goes like this
Nokia 6600 >> Nokia 3230 >> Nokia 6630 >> Nokia 7610 >> Nokia N73ME >> Nokia N78 >> Nokia N95 8 GB >> Nokia N85 >> Nokia 5800 >> Nokia N900 >> Nokia E7 >> Nokia N9 >> Nokia Lumia 800
So.. You can say.. I am a die hard Nokia Fan
Nokia 5770, Motorola startac, Nokia 7700, Motorola c360, motorolav3, Motorola v3i, Motorola z3, iphone 3G, iPhone 3GS, Samsung galaxy s, soon it will be a galaxy s2
I'm pretty much disappointed with all touchscreen phones, in general (I used some models from my friends, HTC-s, and Samsung-s), I don't like "the feeling". Phones with full qwerty keyboard will be probably my next choice. My history of smartfones starts and ends with Nokia
7650>3660>9500>6600>7610>6630>n73>n82
I'm using 6233 for some time and use it only for calls and sms, and for everything else I use PDA-s. I changed HP-s hx2410, 2750, 2790, and now 114. I appreciate good battery life on mobile phone, 6233 lasts over a week. I charge PDA only when I use it.
I freak out when battery last a day, I can't bear to charge it EVERY day, that is ridiculous.
iPhone 3G and Nexus One! Either iPhone 4S or Galaxy Nexus next!
IPhone 3gs, original Droid, Bionic, and now a razr.

Droid>Droid 2>HTC Incredible>Droid 3>Droid X>HTC Rezound>Droid X>Motorola Bionic
Incredible and X have been my two faves so far, but got that taste of 4G with my Rezound and after I got rid of it b/c it was plagued by all the usual Rezound issues, I realized how much I missed 4G. Hence getting a Bionic.
With that said I'm going to keep my X b/c it truly is a very solid phone and the only problem I ever had was with it turning itself on after shutting down. It never freezes on me, don't think I've ever had to do a battery pull and every Rom I've thrown at it works just as stated.
Plus it truly feels like it was built well. Can't say the same about my HTC devices. Sure the HTC's look "nicer" but they feel so fragile. Just my opinion though.

Hi Friends,
Recently I lost my Sony Xperia X10i. I'm in the process of claim insurance. Now my question to my friends here - Which android mobile I need to buy. I'm a big fan of Android .
I'm from India, so please suggest me that is available in India. My budget is up to 30K .
Thanks & Regards,
Naresh Kumar
I can say go for Samsung galaxy S Or HTC Desire HD Htc Desire HD Will be available during this month. I 've heard prices will be around 35K But Battery drain is the problem in HD I guess
Depends on what you are looking for.
Nexus S or Galaxy S will give you the best processing power, Galaxy S also has the super AMOLED screen. The HTC Desire Z is very overclockable, which can put it above the Galaxy S even, and has a slide-out keyboard.
HTC Desire HD also has a big screen with good construction and great software (HTC Sense...best software skin on Android).
If you want plain unmodified Android then wait for the Nexus S, which would be the only phone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
hTC all the way
Desire Z or Desire HD
HTC desire is a good choice.
I have HTC smart and am happy with its features and apps. I think HTC desire will be also best I had just deal with HTC and its first time I am using Android. you will get many best deals at this Christmas.
Good Luck!

i just switched yesterday from an iphone 4 to an HTC Droid Incredible. its, in my book, 1000x better than the iphone. yea it doesnt have the front facing camera like the Evo, but usin it on the iphone for facetime purely raped the battery life. hence why i went w/o. im still tinkering with it, like i did both my iphones, and i'll post a full review for those who wanna kno more about it (and if there isnt one already).
Motorola Milestone 2 is a good idea.. but i'd wait for Nexus S or lg star..
LG STAR HAS A TEGRA 1GHZ PROCESSOR.. but youll have to wait longer than nexus S for that

Yeah i came from a 3gs,iPhones are boring. You could probably get a Htc HD2 cheap and you can port android to it,there very good at running android, fast, stable, they even beat the Nexus one and desire at running it
IF you like options, get a cheap HD2 lol. It can run Wm 6.5, Android, and ubuntu and possibly even wp7. and the hardware is still good. Otherwise Desire HD sounds good but I highly recommend the HD2 for versatility
I will be changing my phone in June. Right now I have HTC Hero, and I just love it, it is by far the best phone I have ever owned. Can not stand Iphones.....
So my question, is whats on the horizon ???? like I say, it will be June 2011 when I upgrade, what should I be looking at ?
Thanks

30k INR is about 660 USD, right?
you could buy HTC Desire with that, I think..
or perhaps, just buy HTC HD2.. with cedesmith desireHD2 build, 2000 quadrant score is just a small number..
I've been with T-Mobile for around 7 years and have 7 lines. We have tried about every phone out there. One year we went through 103 phones. We have owned every myTouch phone, including the Fender but excluding the new one, almost all of the BlackBerry phones made, many nokia phones, motorola phones and of course countless htc phones (including the HD7, returned the next morning).
No matter what platform HANDS DOWN the Samsung Vibrant S (I guess that would include AT&Ts Galaxy S) is the best out there. My kids had the inexpensive samsung flip phones and they were great, but beyond the very low end Samsung I have never been really happy with their phones that were almost smart phones, more like frustrated because you could "almost" do what lets say the HTC phones could but your Samsung was always not set up for all the same apps, stuck with all kinds of just small bumps.
Just this weekend 3 people were deciding what phone to get and they are now all getting the Vibrant once there contract is up. I personally added a line just to get this phone. Now my Vibrant in rooted (never done that before) and is customized with BlackFroyo I got off here. Of course the 3 friends all want to do the same.
Samsung has all the technology, thank goodness T-Mobile got their hands on it!!! Buy it you won't be sorry.
get the nexus S, period

I must admit I would have agreed with you before I bought the Vibrant. We've been with T-Mobile for 7 years and have a total of 7 lines... I won't repeat what I already posted but have gone though over 103 phones (unfortunately, kids) in one year about 90% smart phones.
Samsung DID IT RIGHT with the VIBRANT!!!!
I love window based phones as well and REALLY lean towards HTC until now. Returned the HD7 within 14 hrs, maybe I'll try again once it's more established.
So I bought my first choice and everyone who sees it or uses it (it's rooted with BlackFroyo theme) has decided this is the phone they'll be getting.
What was so disappointing about the Galaxy S Series? The working phones we have right now are 2 myTouch slides, 1 myTouch G1, 1 myTouch Fender, partially broken Samsung Galaxy (I agree with you about this phone), 1 or 2 different BlackBerrys, but returned the HTC HD7 & HTC Pro Touch 2, & gave away the Slide to get this Vibrant and now I have 6 others under my roof who want me to buy them a Vibrant.
I know everyone has different opinions and needs but to imply that owners of the Galaxy S Series have less experience with SmartPhones than those who own HTC phones is just a little narrow minded. I did feel the way you did but it was the "NEWEST" HTC phone that pushed me to the Samsung. Reviews everywhere were overwhelming that if you were going to buy a T-Mobile phone get the Vibrant.
-nothing personal, it would just be nice if you would back your statements up with some facts because it sounds like you're talking about another Samsung
Buy HTC Desire Z its a great phone.

What is best for me may not be for you, said that, theres no such "best" phone.
What is your phone history like? If you're on this forum you probably have a pretty exstensive collection of phones. I just came from an iphone 3g,which I hated after the novelty wore off. I have had both at&ts blackberry holds(9000,9700). I would have to say the worst phone I have had is an lg vu, the resistive touch screen on that thing was garbage. The inspire is by far the best phone I have had.
So I ask what phones have you had and which ones did you like and hate?

Wow. A walk down memory lane.
My first "smart" phone was the LG Incite. Terrible phone but it's where I learned about roms and doing fun stuff.
Next was the HTC Pure. Great phone for the time. Can't believe how tiny it is now. Because of the great devs on XDA this phone was also my first experience with Android.
Then I got the Samsung Captivate. I bought it off ebay and didn't know about the random shutdowns at the time. I used it for two months before I broke down and renewed my contract with ATT and came away with the Inspire.
HTC has the best built quality. Both of the HTC phones I've owned are solid. I think I've found a home.

2nd phone was a Samsung Alias flip hinge. Looked cool, was junk.
3rd phone was a Nokia Music phone. It was lame. Looked like a small game boy.
Only had a 126meg card for holding music....All proprietary equip....
4th phone was a Blackberry Pearl. I loved that phone.
5th Phone was an HTC Kaiser
6th Phone was an Iphone 3g.
And today I have the inspire.
RAZR
iPhone
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
HTC Inspire.
I am totally impressed with the build quality and UI of HTC. If AT&T wouldn't have been stupid and limited the Amazon App store I would probably still be stock. Thanks to them for opening my eyes to the wonderful world of Rooting. Thanks to everybody on XDA for helping me through it!
Coming from iPhone has been interesting. I'm not an Apple hater, and I think the iPhone is a solid choice, but I like to be able to tinker, and the options with Android is limitless.
My first smart phone was the LG Incite an absolute piece of garbage if it wasn't for the buggy software to the hardware defects.
Then i started my love affair with Blackberry first was my Curve 8310 one of the most reliable phones i have ever owned still works like a charm today. Then i got a Blackberry Storm solid phone still works well although the stock software is yet to be desired.
Next i bought a Captivate. Overall really good phone despite is drawbacks. Love the development community for the Cappy. Turned an otherwise good phone into a really good phone.
and last but not least my Inspire 4G. Haven't had it long but one thing i do like is the build quality. It's a nice looking solid built phone.
LG Incite was my first as well (not including all the non smartphones). I don't have the bad feelings about it though like most seem to have. It was what it was... an entry level windows mobile phone. With the right rom and tweaks, it worked fine for me.
Next, the HTC Pure. Another good windows mobile phone and like all windows mobile phones, took a lot of tweaking to get working well. Tried Android on it but never did care for it. Actually turned me off of Android because of it.
And then came the Inspire. I actually wasn't even paying attention to what was coming out to Att. After they had the captivate (which I almost got but unluckily, or luckily, had some expenses come up that prevented me from getting it), I just stopped looking to upgrade. Well... some ad or something popped up while on the net at work one day and the next day I was walking out of an Att store with the Inspire. 1 week later, after some Android 101.. I was rooted with the hack kit and couldn't be happier. Finally got a radio that gets me a good signal (that was a bit frightening when I first got it) and it is sooo freakin solid now. Absolutely no issues.

My first smartphone was a Blackjack II: I loved it . I don't remember exactly what order this happened, but here are my past smartphone devices:
Blackjack II
Motorola Q9m
iPhone 3GS
Samsung Jack
Blackberry Bold 9700 (loved it, may actually grab a 9780 )
Samsung Captivate
Motorola Atrix
Blackberry Pearl 8110
Samsung Focus
HTC Tilt II
HTC Inspire (Current Device)
I am only going to post smartphones, because frankly, it really didn't matter what kind of phone it was before smartphones... you either had a flip phone or a non flip phone.
HTC Tilt I
Blackberry Bold 9000
Blackberry Bold 9700
Samsung Captivate
Out of those, not that the Tilt was a bad phone in its day, but I liked that one the least out of all of them. It was a first generation touchscreen smartphone. I liked that the screen tilted and loved the qwerty keyboard, but that was about it. The phone was a brick, and it got annoying that you had to use the stylus for almost everything. And of course, it had Windows Mobile 5 or 6. Don't remember which one. Loved the Blackberrys, but unfortunetly, Blackberry fell behind in smartphone technology, which is why I jumped ship to Android.
My last phone was the Epix. Overall it was a well built phone, but my messing around with the software and drooping it a few times led to my favorite error message ever. All it said was "Phone: fail" it was at that point I decided it was time for an upgrade.

Worst
I've had two of the most horrendous phones ever cursed on the world, the Palm Treo 680 (unlocked) and the Blackberry Pearl Flip. I truly believe the Treo 680 helped kill Palm. It was a $400 waste of money down the toilet. Always freezing, always cutting out on calls, always crashing. My brother and I bought one each at the same time...well...within a weeks time...and they both did the same thing.
Then there was the BB Pearl Flip. Complete POS, to put it super mildly. The UI was horrendous, the battery life got to the point where it lasted less than a day in standby mode with no wireless on except the cell radio....and completely unused. Changed out the battery for a new one and made no difference. It was so bad I swore never to look at Blackberrys again.
Best
The best phone I ever acquired, and still lovingly have, is the T-Mobile US HTC HD2. It has been nothing short of purely outstanding. I can use any ROM coded for it and the fun factor is over the roof. Super reliable and trouble-free.
My current favorite phone, though, is the Samsung Focus. I **** you not, the Focus has grown on me daily. The style seems to get more appealing everyday of owning it. I love looking at it and it feels so nice to hold. The slenderness is superb. Since the NoDo/firmware update, WP7 has been the best mobile OS I ever had the good fortune to use.
But my HTC Inspire continues to impress me. Such a well-built phone and Android with HTC Sense 2.0 is so smooth. I've tried other launchers with it but I come back to Sense because the smoothness and reliability just can't be beat.
Then there is my iPhone 4. I began my iPhone love with the purchase of an original first gen iPhone not long after they launched. It was such a relief finally having something reliable and usable. I came from the friggin Palm Treo 680 and back in those days...before the iPhone existed...there was nothing even remotely as good as the iPhone showed to be. When the iPhone launched, it was like a dramatic relief from the super-crappy offerings available and shoved down our throats. ...speaking only of smartphones. I so completely loved the iPhone experience from day 1.
Now I have an iPhone 4 and can't believe how wonderful this little piece of artwork is. The build quality is second to none. The elegance is over-flowing. The reliability is pure and the performance is the best there is. My iPhone 4 is and will always be my main phone. I made the mistake of leaving home without it one time and regretted it. I decided I wanted to take my Inspire with me and leave the iPhone at home. It happened that I needed to use my downloaded compass and also the Google maps and neither one of those functions worked for me. I was so glad I had a sense of the direction because if I had relied on the compass...the maps wouldn't even display...we would have been lost. That was the first and last time I will leave home without my iPhone. I will have a minimum of 2 phones with me and my iPhone 4 will be one.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me....I think it may have been the best phone (Bold 9700) I've ever had.
Via the XDA app for the HTC Inspire
So back in August, after having it for about 2 1/2 months,my Sensation broke (volume rocker fell off/dust under screen/dead pixels) and I switched over to a Torch 9810 (I have the PEP plan from Best Buy, yay) for like..2 days before the keyboard broke on that one which allowed me to get a SGS II, but I returned it the next day when I found out my dad had already gotten me one while he was down in the US as a gift and from that I got a Bold 9900. That Bold, has now died and will not turn on or charge or anything and Best Buy is saying how the phone is worth $600 in store so that's how much I'm working with right now. (with Bell btw)
So the main question is, what phone would you guys recommend that I get next? I love keeping up with the latest technology and gadgets nowadays and a bunch of new phones have came out that I'm pretty much dying to have. I've had a great taste of HTC that left me wanting more and the SGS 2 was fun until I gave it to my dad for himself.
So considering that, I'm stuck between the following phones:
-LG Optimus Lte
-HTC Raider Lte
-SGS II (Its a maybe since Bell doesn't have the simliar models from Telus, Rogers or AT&T)
-Galaxy Nexus
Toss me ideas, questions or whatever to help me decide
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
galaxy nexus

I love keeping up with the latest technology and gadgets nowadays and a bunch of new phones have came out that I'm pretty much dying to have. I've had a great taste of HTC that left me wanting more and the SGS 2 was fun until I gave it to my dad for himself.
So considering that, I'm stuck between the following phones:
-LG Optimus Lte
-HTC Raider Lte
-SGS II (Its a maybe since Bell doesn't have the simliar models from Telus, Rogers or AT&T)
-Galaxy Nexus

in no order
OG Droid - still used as GPS
Gs3 - so far only issue is reception
LG vx10 - loved the pull up antenna, now a toy for nephew but still works.
Well, we have to put things in context... like when they were released.
1) Motorola Micro-TAC flip phone. I got it in 1994 and it was light years beyond anything else out there. It's competition was the notorious "brick" phone.
2) Samsung Omnia. 2008, it was great to have an alternative to the iPhone.
3) Motorola Razr Maxx. Best battery in the industry. 2 days between charges with a lot of use. Motorola screwed it all up when they updated to ICS and broke Flash video. Oh well.
Samsung Galaxy S III
LG T-Mobile G2x
Google Nexus One
Top 3 is difficult. But here are some of my favorite phones in the last 10 or so years in order of how I got them.
1. Kyocera Slider - Don't know why, I used to love this little phone. It was a Virgin Mobile phone and it worked fine for me back then.
2. LG VX10000 (Voyager Titanium) - Got this phone in 2009 when I first got Verizon.
3. iPhone 3G - Even though I really liked my LG Voyager, the iPhone is what I really wanted. Got me a second cell phone just to get it.
4. Original Droid - Gave my iPhone to a friend so he'd let me use his upgrade so I could get an iPhone 3GS. After a few months of that I got really sick already of Apple. Telling me the iPhone 3GS was now able to do things that I was able to do just fine with my Jailbroken 3G. So I made the switch. Rooted it the next day and I lost count of how many different roms I tried on it.
Fifth spot is difficult. Since the Original Droid I've had the Thunderbolt which was amazing when it worked but I also had so many issues with it. I had a Verizon Galaxy Nexus which was nice but Verizon Kind of kills the Nexus brand. I currently have the Galaxy Nexus GSM with a $30 T-Mobile prepaid and I have the Galaxy S3.
The Galaxy S3 I just recently got but I must say that so far I'm really liking it. Personally I think it looks beautiful and I just really like a lot of the little Touchwiz specific things like the fact that I can call someone I'm texting by putting the phone to my ear. Sadly I wish I could install Jelly Bean but I don't want to lose those little things. But right now if I was to pick another winner it'd be a tie between my Nexus and my S3.
1. SG3
2. OG Droid
3. Fascinate
Fascinate sucked until rooted them became a really good phone. My daughter is running jt's jellybean on it still

[~2003-2004 - Nokia 3210]
Got it for free and mostly used it for playing snake when i was young Lost it a year or two later.
[~2004-2007 - Some simple Basic Phones from Motorola, Samsung usw..]
Not worth mentioning but whatever. I lost my phones very often back in that days so then i had many i dont remember^^
[~2007-2009 - HTC magician (Vodafone VPA Compact)]
My first "real" phone i had and really used much. While slider/flip phones were "in" at this time everyone yelled "geek" at me for this, but it was pretty awesome for the time. Watching complete movies on a long train ride, using my "big" headphones for listening to music (3,5mm Jack ), playing (real) games on it like Half-Life 1 (with modified quake engine port) and so long. Had a hard life and died after the like 547th fall to ground
[2010 - Some Samsung Slider Phone i got for free but had to repari the Display]
never liked it, never wanted it, but needed a cheap Phone for Work really fast. I gave it back after getting a better one.
[2010-20XX - Samsung Wave II]
Fell out of my moms pocket (54th time or so) and seemed to be broken. Touch didnt worked anymore, keys did what they wanted and it crashed like every 30 seconds. Restarts, battery changes, SIM changes, nothing brought it back to normal. So she got a new Wave 3 and gave me her old Wave II for "playing around". Unbelievable it did repair itself. After 1 Day i got it i bootet it up and everything was fine. At all this is a Love/Hate relationship between me and this phone, i HATE bada, but i love the phone itself for beeing practicly unbreakable. expect for the incident when i got it it does very well in hard conditions of my workplace. Looks really "Rat style" now, but works and works and works, and has a really decent Battery Life. Still have it as secondary phone and for work
[2012-20XX - HTC One S (S4) ]
Needed a new mobile phone contract and it smiled at me for only 5 bucks, so it took it. except for the missing SD-Card slot and unchangeable battery its a real nice phone at all. Extreme good looking, nice hapctic, fast, smooth, good cam, good speech-quality and Sense 4.0 is just awesome. Have it 4 days now and its allready SuperCID´d, rooted and has a unlocked Bootloader

1999 - Ericsson T29s
2000 - Ericsson T39
2002 - Nokia 6100
2005 - Nokia 6230
2008 - HTC TyTN II
Bought as T-Mobile MDA Vario III, slapped English custom rom on it within a day to replace the Dutch one, which brought me here. Loved the keyboard, replaced it because of the infamous lack of hardware acceleration for the infineon video capabilities. HTC never did released a rom with the proper drivers. Had it for about 16 months.
2009 - HTC Touch Pro2
Replaced it within a year because the thing was just too damned buggy and slow. The keyboard was awesome, but it did make the phone big and heavy, which started to bother me after using a desire for a day.
2010 - HTC Desire
Best phone I've ever had. I'd still be using it if it wasn't so limited memory-wise. The only reason I replaced it is that I just couldn't have all (6 or so) apps installed without it moaning about low memory. So when I got a decent offer on the One S, I replaced it.
2012 - HTC One S
Mixed feelings. First one I got had the home-button problem and got sent back for repairs. Used my desire for 2 weeks again. Got the One S back, no problems for a week, then it went crazy again. Off to the repair shop again (and welcome back desire). Got sent a replacement model after another 3 weeks, which does not have the home-button problem, but the black coating chips. I don't care too much about that, at least it works now... Excellent phone, although it does spontaneously reboot at times...
Damn, had a phone for ~14 years already...
