[Q] Google Apps Missing After Flashing Galaxy Nexus - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and it had some great Google stuff on it (e.g. Market, Maps, YouTube, ...) and it asked me to connect it to a Google account at activation, so everything worked great.
Now, following Google's guide (source[.]android[.]com/source/building-devices.html), I downloaded the Android source, built it and flashed it onto the phone. Everything worked fine, but now it does not have any Google support, I can't even add an account in the settings to sync my contacts, so they are gone, not to mention that I can't simply install apps from the Market.
Is there any possibility to get this support back within this custom Android?
If not, is there any rooted ROM that has this Google support?
I have searched this forum and the web, but all solutions don't apply to my problem.
Thank you in advance!

Search for "google apps v7" it's a zip file u can flash in recovery.

(Q) Auto install of apps

Hi guys, quick question,
When I was still on stock rom I noticed my tablet would reinstall the apps I had previously downloaded as soon as I logged in. I just rooted and flashed a custom rom and it seem I have lost this ability. I have CMW on the thing. Any idea what I need to do? Manually re-installing everything as the nightlies comes in is getting a bit old.
thanks

if you're using the same google account it should restore.
During the initial setup it will ask if you want to restore from the Google account.

Thank you for your reply. I used the same google account, and I clicked the square saying I wanted a restore, but apps did not download. When looked on the google play, my tf101 did not appear. Weird.
How many devices appear in your Google Play list when you sign in online? There's a limit to the number of installs you can have for paid apps (5 I think..?). Try deleting unused devices, on unused instances of devices.

Google Talk and ICS Roms?

Hi - thanks to you all here I solved my previous issue - now I have a question hopefully you'll have the answer to.
I tried to find the google talk app - the one that lets you chat with your google contacts - but it's not in the ROM I'm using (CM9.01):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730954
Now I googled a bit and found some "inverted apps" that had all the google apps - so I tried to install it and no luck - It works but I can't chat with it - it shows my contacts and then I can type - but they don't receive the message and I don't receive theirs.
Is there an app or a tweak or a mod or a whatever that fixes this?
Cheers in advance guys!
Did you look I'm google play?l
I thought Talk was part of gapps. I am using FB's AOKP milestone 6, build 4 ROM, and I don't remember installing Talk individually. I use this almost exclusively to chat with one of my contacts all the time.

I did the additional install so that I could install the Google Play on the device - but no google talk was present.
gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
I searched the Google Play store to see if it was downloadable and I couldn't locate it.
Any ideas guys?
Talk is in gapps.

That's the same gapps file I flashed, so you should have it. Maybe doing all the clears and re flashing gapps.

Google Now

Has anyone got Google Now running on the RAZR i on 4.04?
I have tried various methods including that new gnow installer but no luck, I know my busy box is not running properly but I can't get it to install properly with init.d but I have read a few people have had these issues?
Any luck??

i have it running without voice....forget about that
google now
This apk here works but you will not get all the latest updates as google now is for jelly bean and voice search wont work but I'm trying a work around for that.
to install this first make a copy of the google search in system app and place it some where
On you're sdcard then using a root tool delete google search in system app then reboot phone
Before you install this version if you don't it won't work enjoy
Thanks so much!

[Q] what is gapps.zip, and where do i find it/them?

just rooted my optimus V and installed CWM, went ahead to try and install I.H.O CyanogenMod 7 ROM, but it asks that after i flash the rom i have to flash gapps.
sooooo, what is gapps.zip, and where can i get it/them?
gapps is a container for the Google apps such as Google maps, Google mail, Google talk, etc. they are usually provided on the thread where you get the rom
This post has it. Sorry couldn't provide external link.

[Q] Can't connect to Google services [WiFi icon is gray] and can't add Google account

Hello everyone,
I've searched like every post/thread on Xda-developers and other Android forums, but I couldn't find a solution to my problem. First of all the WiFi icon is grayed out. Solutions to this were: adding/removing Google accounts, resetting/restarting router, restarting phone, factory data reset. I tried EVERYTHING, but it wouldn't work. The second thing is, I can't add Google account after removing it. Solutions were: logging in via YouTube, cleaning data of: Google Play Store, Google Services Framework and Downloadmanager app. Resetted phone for the second time. But nothing works. I'm able to browse the internet and receive WhatsApp messages. The only that doesn't work are the Google apps. I hope someone with knowledge of this can help me, because i'm getting really frustrated and nothing helps.
Thanks in advance

I just flashed a new rom and have all the recent Google Apps, but it's still the same.
I now have the same problem on my Nexus 7
The rom I flashed is PACman version 19.0.0, Android version 4.1.2
I hope someone can help me.
OK, everything is good now, because I flashed cyanogenmod 10.1.2 on Nexus 7 and Alcatel OT-995.
