Google Talk and ICS Roms? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hi - thanks to you all here I solved my previous issue - now I have a question hopefully you'll have the answer to.
I tried to find the google talk app - the one that lets you chat with your google contacts - but it's not in the ROM I'm using (CM9.01):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730954
Now I googled a bit and found some "inverted apps" that had all the google apps - so I tried to install it and no luck - It works but I can't chat with it - it shows my contacts and then I can type - but they don't receive the message and I don't receive theirs.
Is there an app or a tweak or a mod or a whatever that fixes this?
Cheers in advance guys!

Did you look I'm google play?l

I thought Talk was part of gapps. I am using FB's AOKP milestone 6, build 4 ROM, and I don't remember installing Talk individually. I use this almost exclusively to chat with one of my contacts all the time.

I did the additional install so that I could install the Google Play on the device - but no google talk was present.
gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
I searched the Google Play store to see if it was downloadable and I couldn't locate it.
Any ideas guys?

Talk is in gapps.

That's the same gapps file I flashed, so you should have it. Maybe doing all the clears and re flashing gapps.

[Q] Offical Google Play Store App Download

Hello,
does someone know if there is an official place where I can get the Google Play Store app?
I had the problem today, that I installed a new rom and there was no Play Store to load my apps.
Best regards,
Manuel
you have to flash gapps for your ROM, just installing the play store isn't enough as you will be left without google accounts

Additionally you'll have to install gapps for your specific android OS. There are gapps that are ICS specific, JB specific, etc.

Thanks for this. Though the 4.2 cam doesn't record videos. just thought I'd let everyone else know.

I would re-download it and try again, does the issue arise from flashing a zip or are you pushing it manually to /system/app?

Ive tried pushing and flashing.
Flashing every zip found on XDA for the 4.2 camera.
It records fine. But the recorded video doesbt play.
It reads 'video can't be played' and then it gets deleted. :/

FYI, one thing I've noticed about this zip is that it may install some apps in non-standard locations, such as gmail in system/app. Since this is different than other gapps packages (gmail is usually not included, so is installed via market to data/app), the CM backup script won't keep this from ROM flash to ROM flash unless you follow up with this app package flash again.
This link includes a zip with everything from 4.2, http://d-h.st/wBX

Anyone have any issues with the 4.2 Play store? I can't figure out why this is happening, but out seems only a handful of my apps are compatible. I had originally changed my LCD.density to 210, and then read that it had to be set to one of the non-custom numbers of 160 or 240, so I changed it to 160 (for fun), but it appears I have the exact same problem.
I never had an issue with the play store or apps requiring 160 or 240 (though I know some apps and games won't be compatible unless the LCD.density, the model, and manufacturer are changed in the build.prop file)... So the 160 or 240 setting seems incorrect.
Anyway, I have tried clearing data/cache for the play store, and the same thing for Google services framework (and reboot), but still have no change.
Could it be anything else in my build.prop file?
I am running Baked Black Bean (a JB 4.1.2 AOKP ROM).
Any thoughts or help are appreciated!

Don't like the keyboard. When I swipe, it wont show my swear words, such as ****, ****, ****, and so on, even though I saved the words to my dictionary. **** always shows as duck and I can never type ******. I will stick with Swype Hopefully Android will allow to swipe custom saved words in the future / official release.

I'm enjoying this rom, yet I'm used to my sense rom I was using which has email notification count, missed txt count etc.
That's not the biggest deal, one thing I was curious about was related to the hardware search button. I tried it and it doesn't do anything, also the voice search app doesn't open.
Anyone else notice this or does anyone have a fix? I'm running the latest version.
Thank you.

That should fix it, it has for me every time... for some reason baking GApps in on JB seems to cause that problem for some... including me a few times. You can reboot into recovery and wipe cache/dalvik and flash GApps and that will fix it (use the ones in the OP under "older releases")
Had no option to uninstall voice search. Yet I fixed the problem, I found google search needed updating. Now all is working as it should.
