Help with boot sound and themes - Verizon Droid Charge

Hi all,
I need help finding themes on my Droid Charge running GummyCharged2.1 and how to install them. I have been searching for awhile and all i see is for 2.0 themes. also i'm trying to change my boot up sound (GummyCharged didn't come with one i guess) and where or what folder to place it in and what file type it has to be. any help would be very appreciated. Thanks
Attached is my system information if it helps. if you need anything else just ask.

The 2.1 update for GC just changed the heap size to help with hot boots, so any 2.0 theme will work fine on it. Download the theme zip file, boot into cwm, wipe cache and dalvik, mount system, and flash.
I believe the poweron.wav is in /system/etc . If not there, check /system/media. If you want to add your own boot up sound make a short mp3 on your computer, transfer it over to your phone, then rename it to poweron.wav and replace the original. Let me know if you have more questions.
Also, this should have been posted in Q&A, but its not a big deal.

Thanks for the help and I'll remember that next time.

[Q] Boot animations i9000

Hey guys, I have been told to post this here as I have not made enough posts..
I tried to change my boot animation, by placing the bootanimation.zip file in both /system/media and /data/local and all still plays the Samsung boot logo although with no sound.. So searched through the forums here and everyone tells you that you need a custom rom to get it to work if your phone has the /system/media/bootsamsung.qmg file...
I then cooked a package from romkitchen and installed that but have the same issue, even though I can see the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media/ I can also still see the bootsamsung.qmg as well.
I have only just got this phone about a week ago, so have searched thoroughly, in case I was missing something but i don't think I am..
Can someone help me with what’s going on?
No one able to help me with this one?
Hm you should easily be able to change bootanimation with the rom kitchen.
Remember that you can not change the white text at the beginning of the boot.
I think the files stay there, they dont get removed, just another one gets used if its present, if not the stock animation will be used.

Thanks for the reply,
I'm not sure if this helps, I have cooked a new one today and applied and it said to keep this log incase I have issues.
http://romkitchen.org/logs/G0ceUf3inJ.txt
I can see the file is in the folder, it just does not seem to take affect.
I am assuming that people have got these working on i9000's before and it's just me..
I still have not managed to get this working, starting to think that I am tripping..
All it seems to do is kill the samsung boot sound.
Anyone else got any ideas?

Do you use a stock rom?
This probably doesn't work because your android is not looking for the bootanimation.zip.
Custom ROMs have a modded start up script which tells the system to look for the .zip file.
I am using a rom from rom kitchen..
I have changed it again since I made post above but still a custom rom..

Did you try downloading a new wipe rom with a different bootanimation build in from start?
Yes, wipe rom, Hardcore's Kernel, boot animation, and everything else is prittly much the default setting in rom kitchen

Did you delete the boot animation file out of system/media,&put the new animation zip AND rename it to the same name as the one you deleted?

I have tried selecting the bootanimation from RK, and also downloading one from elsewhere and replacing the one that is there.
Both have the same effect..
Weird,I had trouble switching mine too. The only way I've been able to do it is using the app called File Explorer. It's like 10 dollars on the market, but I found it for free. I put the new zip on my card, then file explorer/system/media, delete the boot animation zip, paste the new zip & rename it to the name of the zip that was there. It's worked every time. Flashing a new splash screen is a little different....

I will try this again now and see how i go..
Just to clarify the splash screen is the white text right?
I am not trying to change that just the colored samsung animation.
The splash screen is the first screen you see when you turn your phone on. It doesn't move, & most often just says the name of the phone. Then the boot animation comes on, it moves & plays some kind of music. Do you have file explorer? If not, don't buy it,I can help you get it for free.

I have Root Explorer that I use to access that location.
I have tried another bootanimation from this spot -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905538
I tried both of the sizes for the AndroidParticles2 and set the permissions to rw-r-r
(Renaming to bootanimations.zip and placing in system\media)
but still the samething happens.
Yeah, my bad,I meant Root Explorer. But it had to be bootanimation.zip take the s off

Sorry typo, I don't have the s on my i9000.
Well that's how I change mine. I did download a particle ring android (blue) and couldn't get it to work right. Seems to me like you're doing everything right. There's one other option I know of. Download a free program called android flasher.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638
You should be able to flash boot animations & splash screens with no problem. It is a .rar, so if you don't have the program you'll need to download winrar or something similar to extract & install the files. Google it, the program is free.

It appears to just be for the Desire..
Thanks for your help today, at least I know now that I wasn't just doing something stupid.

[MOD] No Flip on HTC Clock Widget for Stock 4.24

Could anybody please recreate this for the newest 4.24 OTA. Here is the thread on how to do it unfortunately I do not have my desktop and I am using a loaner laptop so I cannot set up smali/baksmali. Thanks is advance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15307284&postcount=2848
Flashable zip would be great but just posting the .apk would also be great.
Ok so here it is. I do not know how to create a flashable zip so you will have to push it through adb. You may also need to restart and clear cache and dalvik.
Probably best to post this in General Q&A.
I might do it but I don't use windows
I gonna attempt it today but I was wondering if somebody already had one.
Ok so I got baksmali and smali working on my computer and did the edit from above and I can't get it to work. Maybe I need to sign it. Anybody that can offer some help please do. I along with many others do not like the flip.
Edit: NVM it worked I just had to restart and clear cache. I will be posting it soon.

[Q] Changing .apk in CWM zip

I was wondering if anyone could link a guide or give me step by step info on changing certain parts of a rom. Mostly it will be .apk and boots animations. Ive tried just adding the apks into a CWM zip and trying to flash it that way and had no luck what so ever. I can get the different boots onto the phone after flash but was wondering if it was possible to due it before a flash by putting it into a zip.
This will be for my personal use only and will talk to all dev about what im changing to make sure they wouldnt mine, if i could ever figure out how to do it right.
Im running GC FE 2.0 with EE4 modems. Plan on staying with EE4 untill more stable EQ1W GB.
Thanks for your time and your replys.
Check out UOT - http://uot.dakra.lt/ Has some cool animations. Flash the animation you like with CWM. If that doesnt work unzip the file and copy the zip file in media folder to your /system/media using root explorer.
Thanks for the info but im pretty decent at using the kitchen. What i really want to be able to do is take say the brower apk from gummy and put it on any rom i use. Its the one that had bookmarks from the menu key.
Again thanks for any info or links on how to do it that anyone can provide.
Rip the apks from the cwm zip and put them in system/app.

SOA Bootscreen w/sound

I am trying to make a custom boot w/sound but last time I tried getting sound to work I bricked my phone. Any help would be appreciated. I also am considering trying to figure out how to do a SOA theme for SCOM.
BTW somebody created the same boot animation on another phone but with no sound. So I have that already.
Maybe this will help you or atleast point you in the right direction.

I found somebody who created the same animation that I wanted to do so I have reposted the bootanimation.zip and have converted the theme to wav format (don't know if I needed to do that or not) and replaced the PowerOn.wav from the ect folder. The rom I am using already had boot sound. So I was able to just replace the files. What I want to know is the bootsnd.sh file listed in the tutorial the same file needed for our phone? Also it listed a different directory for pushing the sound file. Is this something that is different per phone or ROM or just a preference?

I have a feeling I know what bootsnd.sh file your talking about. No you dont need that for the current roms for the phone. That script is for phones running roms like CM7 that dont have bootsound turned on.
Put the poweron.wav in the same directory as the factory one is now. In converting the file to wav did you just rename it or actually convert it using a program on your pc? Just renaming it will not always work.

I have a conversion program on my system. I have the animation and the audio file posted in themes right now. Planning on tweaking it a bit and making it my own creation once I have more of an idea of where I want to take it. And will be attempting to make it flashable in a week or two I hope.

(REQ) CM10 Boot Animations - Reverse Landscape

Can anyone get these done for me? My tab is mounted in my cars dasboard, in a reverse landscape manner. I need it this way so I can reach the power button and SD card when needed easily.
I've looked and have only seen portrait and landscape.
Thanks ahead of time. Thanks will be given for helpful posts.
Anyone? Perhaps someone could help me figure out how to do it myself?

To modify the boot animation, extract the ROM, open system/media, extract bootanimation and use fastone photoresizer to modify it. Then zip the folder, zip the ROM and sign it using zip signer and flash it.

Okay, tried the above. Renamed the old bootanimation.zip to boot animation.zip.bak , and pasted the file using ES File Explorer to the same folder.
Rebooted, and instead of the CM10 animation, I got the "ANDROID" animation from way back when, still rotated for portrait...
I rebooted into recovery, fixed permissions, and got the same thing.
I did exactly what you said above, and it looked like everything was right. Changed the Archive Format to .zip from .rar, and Compression Method to Store. Copied it to my SD card, moved it in ES File Explorer after renaming the original file.
GOT IT!
Fixing Permissions didn't do it, I had to manually go in and fix them to match the original file.
Worked perfectly, and looks great. MUCH faster than the SAPIR animation.
Thank you!
For anyone else needing to do this, the correct permissions are...
RW
R
R
nothing happened... where do i wrong?
