3G not WORKING/connecting in UK - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi,
Connects to 4g
Connects to 2g when it SHOUD connect to 3G
Is it to do with the baseband or MHz in the UK
It is a USA AT&T skyrocket and it just doesn't do 3G BUT my UK s2 connects every time
PLEASE HELP ME

If the network there is HSPA+, then the att firmware considers it "4g".

yes correct but i think it may have to do with the MHZ and thats why its not connecting to 3g and only 2g and 4g while my other s2 is on 3g the skyrocket is on 2g.

The att sr has the European 3g band, 2100 mhz. Do *#0011# in the dialer and see what you are connecting on.

Stuck on hsdpa (not H+) Noob help.

Ok I've rooted my phone via one click method. I have the rcmix hd 3.4 rotate Rom with leeroids 2.2.4 kernel. So far I love it except ever since I changed from factory default Rom I have no H+ or what I'm under the impression of it being 4G. Instead I'm stuck just a regular H with data arrows underneath. Any ideas for a noob?

Don't quote me here, but I'm pretty sure the afr001 and afr002 ROMs don't have an H+ icon since they are the European Desire HD ROMs. So you may be getting 4G HSPA+, but it doesn't have an icon for it.

I'd bet that is what is happening.
That ROM may only show an H. I know with the one AR ROM i was using it would actually switch between "E", "3G" and "H+" depending on what i was using.
Thanx I think this is very possibly as it seems I have moderately fast connection when off WiFi. Is there possibly an app or a reference to see if the signal strength or speed of connection equates to that of 4G?

Speed Test app
Just run a speed test with the app and you'll know right away what's going on.
Where do you live?
The stock AT&T setup shows an H+ icon even when in hsdpa... to let customers think they are getting 4g. Your rom is probably correct in showing you an H for hsdpa, because AT&T only has 4g service in like 6 cities nation wide. So unless you live in one of those cities you're not getting 4g anyway.

Wrong! The phone is using the H+ frequency, now if the backhauling has been done yet is the question.

There is no "H+" Frequency, 2G, 3G, HSPA+, they all use either 850 or 1900. He's right, they have enabled the "+" to show up all the time, even if you aren't getting an HSPA+ connection. It's very deceiving and AT&T is in some hot water right now over their false advertising, google it to see.

Help. Turn off 3g/4g not working?

I dial *#*#4636#*#*, click GSM only, and it goes back to H in a matter of seconds.
Any way to keep it on Edge and not have it go back to 3g?
I'd like to know as well

Technically they are the same... the only way you can switch is going down to 2g

That's what I'm trying to do. I'm clicking GSM only, which puts you on 2g, but it switches back to 3g/4g quickly.
@OP and others:
Select "2G only" in network settings
Then go to "select network", then "manual", do a search, and select network from there.
Now it will stick to EDGE.
BUT: This would mean at some places, though rare, u could experience signal loss. Be warned.

GSM =\= 2G only. It is staying on HSPA because the GSM signal in your area carries HSPA data access. Plain and simple.

Just got sensation...why is it showing 2G instead of 4G?

I'm right in the middle of a 4G area. There a setting to turn 4g on?

2G = EDGE
Try changing the settings on Mobile Network to "WCDMA only".

Is there a fix for gsm? I'm not using tmobile's network but I'm still not able to connect to 4G, I'm currently using a T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G which is compatible with the 4G networks here but I'm only getting a 2G signal even when in a 4G area
If you're in the states then the HTC sensation only has the bands to work on 3g (fake 4g/ hspa+) on T-Mobile, otherwise you'll be on 2g forever! The sensation does not support 4g lte!

okay, but I checked before I got the phone & my network provider uses the 850 band which should be compatible with the phone to at least get that 3g (fake 4g/ hspa+)

[Q] 4G icon for CM 10.1

Using the latest CM 10.1, I noticed that my phone says "H" for the connected network, even if it is HSPA+ / HSPAP. Now, this doesn't bother me over much, but I really would like to change the H icon to "4G" when I'm in an HSPA+ area, and "H" or "3G" in a non HSPA+ area. I hope that makes sense

New Nexus 5 - network problem (a complicated one)

Hi
need your help, I have tried everything..
I can not connect to 3G
I tried to flash image factory/set correct APN setting with the operator/switch radios/replacing new SIM.
didn't helped my!
When I connect to 2G everything works for me, calls and online.
When I switch to 3G, I have no service, it writes me Unavailable operator.
It get stuck on the "Search" when I try to search manually.
When I try to go back to 2G, it is still stuck on "searching.." and I have no reception! Only reboot fixes it and I can go back to work with 2G.
It is important to note that when I take out the SIM I can find operator on 3G.
How can I fix the problem or even understand what it comes from?
I have Nexus tool kit, maybe I can sent you Catlog \ bugreprot?!
Thank You in Advance
What about, when you are in LTE ? Will you get 3G ? You should get either 3G or Edge (came to know that your country don't have LTE yet).

I don't have LTE in my country yet, and my operator only have 2G (no EDGE)
If you choose LTE on your phone, it supports all lower versions (i.e 3G / Edge) ! So you must get Edge (2G) !
LTE option doesn't force only LTE !

I know, if I choose LTE I get the same problem, no service..

This. The Nexus 5 very well may not support the 3G frequencies your network uses.
Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
I certainly know that this is not the problem, Nexus 5 is supported in my country
Should not be a problem with the 3G frequencies of both models 820 \ 821.
If that's the case, I'd recommend contacting your carrier.
