[Q] better gmail app with instant mail send? - General Questions and Answers

i have 7 long emails stuck in my outbox right.... have this problem a lot of time... i go to my outbox, click on each email and click send again.... most of the time, the recipients receive the emails twice or more... i know a lot of people say clear data in gmail app.. but it's 7 long emails... not going to erase and retype that sh1t.
my question is there an alternate email app that sends email instantly(like you are using a browser) instead of waiting stupidly sycing? as google just seems not giving a damn about the gmail outbox stuck emails problem...

POP3 Emails in Messages on XDA

Hi all,
I have configured my XDA Mini to connect to my Gmail account and download the email via POP3.
Once I have read a message, the next time I perform a send/recieve operation the message is wiped from the phone, however the messasge still remains on the Gmail inbox via the web interface?
Why does the phone remove the messages from Outlook once they are read, and is there any way to make the messages stay on the phone, and I find it really annoying reading an email and then 5mins later its disappeared.

Turning off automatic mail deletion on Send/receive in WM6.0

Hi people... WM6.0 is bugging me - every time I send/receive it deletes all of my old mail... Is there any way to turn this off?

I have the same issue with GMAIL, but could not find a setting on the device to stop the inbox deletes. Also, the gmail pop3 settings online are not that clear on what to do?
I have the same problem, and the only way I found to keep my important mail, is by moving them to the spam folder...
If you configure the settings for the mail account to download "All messages" then they won't get deleted unless you delete them manually (in which case they'll disappear next time you send/receive). Just make sure you've only got what you need in your server Inbox....or you've got an unlimited data plan as it may take a while to download them all!!
By default, new mail accounts are setup to download "messages from the last three days" IIRC, which is why messages older than that will disappear from the phone's Inbox on a send/receive.

gmail has a problem that it deletes any read mail. Kinda sucks, but it happens
In the Gmail options (not on your phone, but on the webpage) you can set it to retain a copy of the mail after POP retrieval.

It's not a GMail problem, this happens with all my POP3 accounts. My retrieval settings are already on All Mail - any more bright ideas?

Emails Sitting In Outbox

Hey,
I'm with Tesco.net for my broadband at home and want to get my personal emails on my TP.
I can do that fine, either setting up POP3 on my TP or using Emoze for push email (which I'm using and love)
For some reason I can't send any. I know there's an update to fix this, but it doesn't work. I don't even get an error - the emails just sit in my outbox.
I can send emails from other accounts (Yahoo for example) but not this one. I've looked on the Tesco website and Googled why this isn't working, but found nothing.
Any ideas?

check your outgoing mail settings on the phone with what they should be. it's possible that some type of mismatch (maybe port or security or pw error) is keeping your phone from connecting to the outgoing server.
also are you sure they're not sending? every now and then i send emails and tehy sit in my outbox and keep sending until i get a pissed off phone call from someone about repeatedly emailing them...

[Q] email problems - email vanishes...

Ok, I have a number of email related problems...
I'm using POP to sync with my business email, hosted on a managed server.
I can access email no problem, and send.
But, I have the phone set-up to check for mail every 30 mins or so, and it does this ok, and reports 'X' new messages, but when I go to the mail app it shows 'no mail', and I have to refresh to actually see the mail. Very, very annoying, and I guess is costing me more as the phone is data downloading twice! A real issue as I'm 'roaming' a lot...
With mail receiving that's about all the problems. but I'd love a fix if it's something I'm doing wrong.
But, with sent mail the phone seems to decide to delete all sent mail, no matter what setting I have set for mail.
I have no idea why this happens, and more importantly how to stop it.
All previous phones (this is my first Android one) kept all sent mail until I deleted it.
Any ideas regarding these problems?
Clear your mail data from setting and do a fresh mail set up afterwards. Good luck

[Q] Exchange Email reply issue

I've had my HOX since release day and added my two email accounts right away. I use the Gmail app for my personal gmail and the included Email app for my work Exchange account.
After about a week I was not able to reply or forward work emails using the built in Email app. I can receive and send (new) emails but if I try to reply or forward an email I get a Notification saying "The email was not able to be sent."
I've removed and re-added my work account multiple times. I can reply for a day or two then I get the "can't send" issue again. I've verified that I am using the correct settings when I setup the account.
This is the only negative I have with the HOX but I would love to figure out what is wrong. Thanks.
i ran into this issue today as well, but only on 1 of my 4 push accounts. funny thing is that, although my phone said the email wasn't sent, the recipient received it 10 times, which equates to the number of times i hit resend. problem went away on it's on...
I wish I could say the same thing. I've tried replying to coworkers and even tested with my own gmail account. New emails are the only ones that are actually sent for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
