Ok..So I received a new shiny Sylvania 8" Tablet, model SYTABA84C for Christmas. Here is the buildinfo:
ID: GINGERBREAD
PRODUCT: DGM912HC
DEVICE: DGM912HC
BOARD: DGM912HC
BRAND: ROCKCHIP
MODEL: DGM912HC
FINGERPRINT: rockchip/DGM912HC/DGM912HC:2.3.1/GINGERBREAD/eng.root.20111011.161318:user/test-keys
It is running Gingerbread 2.3.1
I have tried every root app I can find, including superoneclickroot, z4root, and various others. The Zergrush exploit seems to gain root, but when it comes time to push the su and superuser.apk to /system/xbin, it always gets permission denied. Apparently the filesystem (NAND) is read-only. Anyone have any idea how I can root this tablet? There is very little info on this tablet, and none that I can find on this site. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hello Everyone
First of all I am quite new so if I have done something wrong with this post someone let me know and I will try and put it right.
I am trying to root my Samsung Galaxy S i9000 with RyanZA's z4root, but every time I do it, my phone vibrates and exits the rooting app (it is as though the phone is pressing the back button by itself).
Just to let you know incase I you wish to reply, the 3 button recovery mode does not work, but I know that it is recovery 3e and my phone was rooted on 2.1 in the same way I am trying to do it now. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Phone details
Model number: GT-I9000
Firmware version: 2.2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 root(at)SE-S611 #1
Build number: FROYO.BVJP8
If you want to root your Samsung Galaxy S i9000, try Super One Click Root.
Nice one cheers!
Hi!
I'm trying to root my Defy (froyo - v2.2.2) using the z4root (v1.3.0) but I can not finish the operation due to an unexpected exit of the program.
The z4root quit after message "Acquiring root shell..." Nothing happen, just quit... No errors or any other message to understand something. In Application-Development, the USB debugging it's checked.
What can I to have a successful root access using the z4root software?
Thanks a lot in advance for any further replies.
and tried you root it with SUperOneClick app?

No, for the moment I wish to do it with z4root. My computer is not working for the next two or three days so I can not use it.
But tell me, rooted with SuperOneClick can be unrooted without replacing the ROM?
yes, it can..
altostratos, I'm having the same problems as you I think
I did temporary root and z4root was doing it's thing when it closed all of a sudden (no FC). I opened it back up and now all it does is FC.
I'm hesitant to try superoneclick, as it seems more complicated and I have no desire to screw my phone up. I'm new to the android community and am not real clear on the whole rooting thing. I know it gives root access to the device (I've got lots of experience with linux), but that's about all I know.
Argh! I am going to have to start posting on these threads, because now for 4 days I've been trying to root this momo2 rk2818 arm9 chinese tablet, and I keep hitting the same links over and over - there is no new info, everything stops unresolved.
cramfs fs so I cannot perm root, I have no idea how to take an image of the current tablets rom (no phone, no camera, no dpad, no volume buttons, just a power/sleep button and a menu/esc button which do nothing during booting up - no bootloader, no recovery.. I can get to recovery mode using ADB but I cannot navigate the tablet menu with no functioning damn buttons.
Did I just buy a pure POS? I mean it works for all intent and purpose great. But I have no google market, a lot of websites try to go to market:// which it fails on, and I cannot uninstall the chinese bloat apps.
I just seem to find more and more brick walls in this, and ffs surely it cannot be this hard.

I know google were iffy about providing market access to certain devices they deemed not sufficient, but ffs.... why even sell something so restricted that you cant even use the damn things on it.
I really hope someone has some advice, I am going absolutely mental.
Same Problem :U

Hello xda world! I am a n00b here so please have mercy on me.
I just bought the Samsung Google Nexus S i9020A 3G unlocked. I want to root it so I can use apps that require root access (Titanium Backup, AdAway, etc). I rooted my locked Samsung Captivate using SuperOneClick (discovered via lifehacker). I tried rooting the SNS with it, but it stopped responding at "running psneuter". I tried GingerBreak, but it stopped responding at "running gingerbreak". Can my SNS be rooted with SOC? If it can, how? If it can't, is there another one-click method? All the guides I found are complicated, and I'm scared I'll brick my phone. They also all start with unlocking your phone, which I don't need to do because it's already unlocked. Any help would be AWESOME... thanks!

Directions are scarce on that thread.
I downloaded the files, ran the script, and plugged in my phone with USB debugging mode on... nothing happened. Am I missing something?
try the guides at nexusshacks.com.
read and re-read the instructions until you understand what the steps mean and what the concepts mean.
it's not easy to brick the Nexus S. flashing the wrong radio image on the wrong model would be one thing that could brick it, so try to stay away from happy flashing radio.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Learn how to do it the proper way. Flash or boot a custom recovery with fastboot and flash the su.zip
Clicking away at one click crap and scripts when you have no idea wtf you're doing is just dumb IMHO.
Hi All,
I am having a lot of problems rooting my Xperia Play that insurance kindly provided me with. It is 2.3.4 and none of the one click roots work, all getting stuck on the step after stopping ADB. I have installed the Android SDK.
Is there an easy way to downgrade - does anyone have a step by step guide?
Some help would be wonderful as not being rooted is driving me crazy!
Alternatively is there a new one click root for 2.3.4 in the pipeline that will make one click root possible again?
Phone information:
Xperia Play 2.3.4
r800i
baseband: 8x55A-AAABQMAZM-203028D-56
kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf
[email protected] #1
Build: 4.0.2.A.0.42
Thank you so much for anyone who can help, you will be my hero and I will grant you three wishes.

Sorry to be off topic, where did you buy your phone (country)?
As for rooting 2.3.4 (same version and baseband) I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859
I would suggest zergRush (I think mine was set to auto when I did it back in November).
Also I am not responsible for any damage done to your device. (If there is any)
It's a UK device but it just came refurbished recently so I'm worried the November 11 patch has been implemented as superoneclick and the other programme did nothing at all. I miss Gingerbreak! Thanks for the advice
I just had the same problem as you with my UK R800i
I had put off updating because I didn't want to lose my root but as HussainQ said just use SuperOneClick
multiupload.co.uk/VGCN3ZTFM8
Make sure you have selected ZergRush, you have unmounted your SD card, you have enabled "Unknown Sources" and that you have enabled USB debugging and that you have your drivers installed and it should work
I installed every driver that it suggested and then one other that seemed relevant - is it important to just install everything? Thanks guys - my new card will be on its way soon so anxious to get a root sorted!
Oh yes I had some problems with ' (1) make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device' I tried different things and searching Google but the programmes always informed me it wasn't the right one. I really appreciate you guys helping
I got it to root last night, thanks for all your help guys. Cleared some internal space and installed everything ready for the partition when my 64gb card arrives. You all rule
Hello Everyone,
I have attempted to read and read and read and it has driven me insane. I attempted to do a root with super one click and then with ginger break. the reason i did this is because it showed a partial root, some programs say its rooted, but then it will quickly say that its not. and does that back and forth. tried to unroot and it will not let me even tho it states that it has been unrooted successfully. I am at a total loss, i have read things stating that there are roms for this one that can work. when i attempt to locate and find information and click on links it leads me to dead ends and just sometimes loops and no files whatsoever. I want to thank everyone in advance who can help.
My tablet is a knockoff, as listed below.
