[Q] Tablets: Xoom or Galaxy 10.1 .. recommendations? - General Questions and Answers

I´m looking to buy either a Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 , or a motorola xoom, and would appreciate any advice or recommendations from owners of either of these.
A few things i do like about the xoom are..
Xoom has micro usb (is this useful ?), and also has SD slot for extra memory (i quite like this), and stock android OS
I´m not so concerned about the weight aspects, its more about flexibility for updates, perhaps custom rom & rooting. and general performance.
if anyone has any recommendations, i´d be very grateful

[XOOM 2][Advice] Is the Xoom 2/Xyboard interesting ?

Hello everyone,
I'm currently thinking about buying a new tablet (I've already tried the first galaxy tab and the transformer) and I found a nice deal (in France) for the Xoom 2 Media Edition.
Would you recommend the media edition for 265$ (in fact it's 265€ but since 1$=1€ for all the manufacturers...) ? I mean I know the xoom 2 is not a big improvement upon the first version but do you think this is a good deal ?
Also it doesn't seem that the community is interested in the xoom 2. I fear that there won't be any custom rom or any other work done on this table. Am I correct ?
Thanks for your responses !
The problem is that it doesn't appear to be unlockable and rootable at this time, so no development. If you don't care about that, go for it. If you want to tinker and customize, get an original Xoom. ICS (Android 4.0.3) builds are already here! Awesome!

Advice req'd please chaps...

Hi all, after having learned my basics with a 7" android tablet (chinese 'versus' A10 clone), I'm now looking for a new 7" android tablet(I dropped my versus tab its now scrap.....)
I'd like some advice/opinions on choices, I'll list a few wants and dont wants:
Doesnt have to have sim/phone facility, only really need wireless connectivity.
Would like expandability with an SD card.
Decent performance and pref JB 4.1+ ROM/OS
would like usb connectivity.
Narrowed down to possibly nexus or samsung tab.
All/any thoughts welcome.
Many Thanks
Jon

I'm partial to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7", but nothing against Nexus. I'm running stock JB 4.1.1 ATM. Mine is a WIFI only model ( GT-P3113 ). Inbuilt 8 GB storage with a maximum 32 GB sdcard, which I have . Dual core 1.1 ghz processor. Darn thing is pretty quick.
I live in the US, so I really cannot recommend anywhere to purchase one. Sorry.
My suggestion is the Nexus line, so the Nexus 7. The Nexus is one of the best tabs on the market, and if I had the money I would have a Nexus 7 *and* Nexus 10. They are amazing tablets, and one of the benefits of being made by Google is updates. AFAIK the Nexus 7/10 already have the 4.2.2 update *officially* which is a big plus in my book.
I also live in the US, so can't really recommend anywhere special beyond Best Buy or Amazon.

Thanks for the feedback! .Jon
We have both a Samsung Tab 2 7" and a Nexus 7 in our family. I think you'd be happy with either one. I use the Tab 2 and am very happy with it. Don't think you can go wrong either way. Tab 2 advantage is SD card, Nexus advantage is updates. For me the SD card is more important. As always depending on your use (you want to stock alot of movies or other) the Tab 2 might be the way to go

[Q] Various questions regarding SGT2 7"

I have a Samsung GT 2 7" (p3110) and i am a bit disappointed with the way things are working. I have rooted the tablet and i have managed do optimize it a bit but it still burns through the battery like crazy.
In any case... here are my questions:
1. I know there are no "best" roms and it is all up to the user, however, what would you recommend for a user that watches movies, plays some games and surfs the internet?
2. Changing the version of the Android OS will optimize performance?
3. Are there any stock Roms that have only the basics installed (no crapware) and will allow me to install whatever i need without having to worry about performance?
Thanks and i am looking forward for your response.
1. izerHD has good quality for audio etc, btw currently only for p3100
2. yes
3. indeed izerHD has sony apps crapware, so you might like slimkat, the slimest rom for now.

Newer tablets with Root support?

Hey all. I'm in the US, and my Lenovo Tab S8 just died. I had it rooted with the instructions found on XDA, but it was kind of a cowboy root, using some sketchy method. Are there any newer tablets that support easy root methods?
The reason I ask is because I had used a Root only app, to mount a 64 GB NTFS memory card, to bypass the 4GB limit of Fat32. This was really helpful for movies and large files.
Also, adaway was great.
So, is there new tablet that has community support for root? If possible, one with USB-C would be great. Screen size/price is not an issue, but batter life should be decent.
I'm debating between the Asus ZenPad S or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. The Asus seems to my best bet, but I'm still unsure.

Improving device performances and memory capability

Hi everyone, I'm new to modding phones and I was wondering what are my possiblities with my current device, a Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo (europe version), since I have problems with its memory storage that runs out pretty fast (as I reckon a lot of old samsung phones do this after a while), even after I reset it. I do possess a microsd card but I'd like to keep it for my music/pictures to move it one day to my next smartphone. What are my options as to which roms are stable and don't have a lot of issues with my device? Which ones could solve the problem that I have and also improve performances? Pardon my english if it's not perfect, but I'm not so used to write about tech. Thank you for your time.
