[Request]Oxygen ROM Port 2.3.7 AOSP - Galaxy 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
we all know that some dev like marcellusbe or apollo5800 are working on CM7 and CM9 but there are some AOSP nice ROM like Oxygen (http://forum.oxygen.im/) where we can concentrate some effort.
I don't have any know eldge in coding porting ... so can somebody who have enough know eldge to port it (normally it not ne so difficult because marcellusbe already did a part of this work in CM7 port).
Thanks a lot
Sorry for my english i'm french
@mod: if wrong section change it, it's not a problem

I believe there are 2 ways to port, 1 using cm libs, and the other just porting directly from oxygen rom. Since marcell has done so much I think it would be easier to use the first way. However I believe that all the devs are busy now, with their rom/kernel/porting/break, unless a new dev shows up, we'll need to wait some time for it
Edit: I think I mayb wrong
Cheers
Sent from my i9003 powered by Poseidon's Rom + UC kernel

but since marcellusbe is working on CM lib it's easy to do so i hope somebody will take this project and build it with CM lib.

Wouldn't we all. We have a nice AOSP/AOKP/CM9 Kernel. So porting if from the Sensation wouldn't be so hard. I'm currently looking into porting it. But It would be my 1st attemp at porting.

Nice....well you can go here for basic porting instructions--> http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/porting-android. Then go here for miui v4 specific porting --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22574965#post22574965 also don't forget to use tbaldens cm9 port as a base
Btw: I would port this --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512565 as it would save you time from having to resize

Hey MIUI.US fans! It's Official I'm working on a MIUI v4 Port. I'll be updating stuff on my G+.
https://plus.google.com/117682016750033438146
I'm aiming for April 26th as a Birthday Release.
Ok so far I have the latest MIUI v4 like 50% done. Has every issue the Open sensation CM9 port has. As I used that as the base for now. I just really want MIUI v4. My own CM9 port will be in works after I get MIUI v4. Then I'll be actively be deving on MIUI and CM9. So Wifi is eh, Bluetooth is a no. Then finally Video Camera is a no. As long as the CM9 Kernel has those issue, so will it. I have this whole month off from the world. So I can spend a lot of time making this Stable, Fast, and EPIC.
Good luck
Feel free to ask us questions
Why when I try to use the "set perm" CMD it won't work. I have the Rom booting, just no MIUI SU. Just regular. Then you can't backup apps, or set themes. It tells me something about the environment not being found. Is there a folder the System folder need to be in for the "set perm" to work?
Fail. Long story short, I Cut and Paste. Not copied and paste. Had to format my SD and lost it XO All I need help with no is signing it, my Update Zip signer wont sign it right any more.
to get su...DL the latest Su and simply apply it to your rom...use the kitchen to sign
Lol, it will forever remain a mystery how I got the Rom to boot. But I should have it uploaded today mabey? Thinking of calling ACC MIUI v4.

I keep on getting very random results. I'm still working on it. Today I might get an alpha out. I'm trying this out on two Doubleshots, and it only boots on one. They're both S-off. Same Radio, and everything. :T I've learned a lot today.
nice to hear some one is working on miui v4 thanks alot
I had a booting version, but it wouldn't go past lockscreen. Now I can't get it too boot :T Using those newer Dev toold take a lot of getting used to. When I'd slim down Roms it was so much easier.

I'm having an in law help me learn some Linux and Java now. He's going to help me get a stable CM9, and MAYBE! Make a better CM9/AOKP/AOSP kernel. One that could potentially get camcorder working. But I wouldn't have that done till like Aug.
tell your inlaw i love him or her (no homo if him) and good luck. BTW Ive ported 2.5 roms and I havent touched linux/ubuntu (involving rom development) but your going to need it if you want to write a kernel

[Q] miui rom for p6200?

hi there..
just a noob question, will there be a miui roms for tab 7+ P6200? since i thought those roms are awesome..
Heeeeeeeeee hehe it should be AMAZING you're right I personally guess it shouldn't be too hard to build, but we have few devs right now and aorth is already working on the CM9 which supposed to be wonderful too.
I read once talking about the P6200 MIUI in its Italian channel on nexuslab but I think we're still far away from it
Let's hope dude I'd just like it too on my own p6200

In order to properly have MIUI, we must have CM9 first. Why? MIUI is based off of CM.
That being said, once we have CM9 fully (or close to) being a Daily Driver, someone can easily port over MIUI using a lot of the CM9 components and merging them with MIUI bits.
Atleast that's how it happened on my Epic 4G

CM and MIUI are both AOSP ROMs and you need an AOSP kernel in order to get them to work properly. You could get it ported over right now but nothing would work, same as with the CM9 builds we already have, so really I see no point in doing it except as a proof of concept or work in progress type ROM. The few devs we have are all working hard on CM9 but it's slow going without having all the needed hardware drivers that Samsung won't release. Once that is done MIUI won't be far behind.
we have very few developers for now, and there are some major issues such as the wireless.. until that issues are resolved, i don't think we want to split tasks or add more task for the developers. We need at least one working custom kernel first for use as a basis. That is a much higher priority now.

Cm 7 or cm 10 ??

Hi everybody,
We all know our phones CM9 development is soon gonna be complete(?) AS FAR AS kernel 2.xx CAN ALLOW... So the question that everyones asking is this " When will Dhiru start compiling CM 10 ?? "
I OPENED THIS THREAD TO ASK YOU THIS :
SHOULD WE GO FOR CM7 OR CM10 ??
This question arose when my brother wanted to take an android.. He asked bout SL.. Even though i love my SL i had to suggest s2 bcoz it has stable aosp rom support.. Our fone, well, right now belongs to the low development area... Development is at starting to get low... No custom roms, no themes and lot of incomplete aosp roms...
If we go for CM7 dvelopment, i am hopeful that we'll hav atleast a 100% stable AOSP rom.. Even though it might be ancient in the current scenario, we'll get a lightning quick rom that will just fly on our fone..
And well, a stable CM7 will lead to a stable MIUI... Ppl can work on things with a stable AOSP base...
I know its for Dhiru to decide.. Wanted to know what the community is thinking...

CM9 is already more stable than CM7.
BEFORE ANY NOOBS STARTS FLAGGING ON ME, MIND THAT I'VE BEEN HERE FROM THE BEGINNING OF THIS COMMUNITY..
I KNOW I CANT FORCE DHIRU INTO DEVELOPING ANYTHING..
AND THAT THIS IS JUST TO KNOW WHAT THE COMMUNITY THINKS...

Why would he do that? That's like saying that Froyo should be developed for the S3.
Dhiru is going to fix everything with the help of everyone in this community (devs and testers). I truly believe that. He doesn't need to do it (he has 2 other phones) so he does it for the pleasure of the challenge. Kernel 2.x.x isn't a limitation and kernel 3.x.x isn't aborted. The way things are going, I imagine that CM9 will be out of alpha with everything working very soon. That'll be when the tweaking and mods flood in. CM10 will be just a few ports away.
I say leave CM7 where it should be. History. Sorry to be a buzz kill, but CM7 is for devices that really can't handle ICS and the i9003 can.
Also CM10 won't need many changes anyways, a working CM9 will probably result in a working CM10.
So nope, CM10 won't be an incomplete ROM, basically CM9 Bugs = CM10 Bugs, i am with improving CM9 and CM10 at the same time, and leaving CM7 laaater on.
I agree with sam too, CM7 is outdated.
@samisax
Wonderful answer, that!!n a good argument too...i agree one hundred percent that cm7 should be written off as history.dhiru will soon give us a stable cm9 AND Cm10 i m sure
I agree on what samisax says, if this phone can run cm10, there is no reason to go backwards.

As i said in the OP, outdated may be, but something which can be made 100% stable by a developer such as dhiru in a very short time(comparitively)... Something which can be used as a TRUE daily driver..
As dhiru and othr developers say ther are many things in cm9 & cm10, which can only be fixed when kernel 3.xx comes out.. Ad dt get me wrong, i know our fone can handle ICS perfectly... But it'll take tym.. Till the time comes, cant we hav cm7??
i think it is a bad idea to make cm7 stable, because a single step on working cm7, will lead to delay stable cm9...
i hope dhiru can finish developing cm9 soon.
we must settle for cm9 first and then cm10 can be developed by some good guys
thanks dhiru for cm9 even it is not finished yet. it is good to see my phones capabilities.

I'm in the same boat as you. My wife rooted her T869, and installed clockworkmod and wanted the QuickPanel mod, CRT tv animation, and custom boot animation, that she has on her T989, and when she found out that she couldn't because her rom was odexed, she flashed CM10, and while it did have some of the mods she wanted, it lacked the things she liked about the stock ROM such as the mini apps tray, the music player, and the task manager in the system settings.
She has also noticed that the font is way too small for her status bar, but overall, she misses the look and feel from the stock ICS rom. She just wants something that is exactly like the Darkside Evolution ICS 4.0.4 ROM that she has on her T989. It is based on the stock ICS ROM, but has the tweaks she wants and she has the customization options as well.
I have searched and asked if there was a deodexed/zip aligned rom based on the most recent UVLG7 update for the t869, but despite a few views, no one seems to have an answer. We have been looking into how we can try to deodex it ourselves, and our jobs takes up most of our personal time and so we've no time to learn, but we seemed to have hit a wall, and I am hesitant to ask because I don't want to be judged, warned or banned for asking what others might consider a "noob" question or ridiculed for not having the same level of experience as everyone else around here.
So, in the meantime, I just quietly wait and hope that more options will present themselves.
Actually i can learn how to deodex my tab...bcoz i done deodex my previous device...but, just deodex...i dont know how to tweaks, how to make a custom rom, how to make a custom kernel, how to make a themes(but i know how to change Jpeg file on system.ui and framework-res)...ohh god...i hope we will get dev on our section...

we got devs on our forum. but the support from samsung (the drivers especially) are very bad, they aren't released on the web. so devs find difficulty to make custom kernels.
some devs also tried porting AOKP to gtab+, just stay patient guys

That's just the minimum that are required by them to be released I think, it's not everything. ATM our CM10 relies on some binary blobs for things such as the kernel from the S3 simply because there's no source available to build yourself and there's not enough documentation to write one yourself either.

Building CM9

I know I know, most of you are going to be like why have ICS when we have JB, its better. That question won't be answered directly.
Anyways I need help with building CM9 for the N7100 for porting Sense 4 (Need to have some questions answered before porting sense 5 on JB.
I have worked with source codes of ROMs i.e CM but not enough to know how to build a new version of android for a device never having it before.
I figured as the i9300 has CM9 and as these two devices are super similar. I was wondering if skmeone could help me out with setting up a new device tree.
Thankyou
I will help. PM me
