I have rooted my phone, and am trying to put miui on it. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G Rogers. I have looked for instructions on how to do the 3e recovery mod so I can put miui on my phone, but I can't get it to work. I am not even 100% sure I'm on the right track. All the instructions I find are confusing as they ask to put files on but don't have links to download the files, or they just assume I know how to do something, or know what they are referencing. I have rooted my phone, now I want to put miui on. I would be greatly appreciative if someone could give me a hand. Thank you.

It doesn't as the recovery file is in a different folder, and every time you replace with the modded file, after reboot, the old one is replaced back where it was. The AT&T method does not work for rogers. I understand that at least now haha.
Just looking for someone to give me step by step on how to put miui on rogers samsung infuse.

MIUI is tricky. I think to get the latest galnet running, you have to mod and flash the older MIUI first. Jump thru a bunch of pull battery trick before boot up then flash the newer version.
there was some source code issue with xda and muiu link was removed. idk if it was reposted or not.
You may have better luck going back to the muiu dev thread.
otoh, if you wanted Zeus, Bionix, Numas, Victory, you can start with the above.
I don't think rogers or att makes a big different. Same hardware.
as for modded recovery, are you sure are using root explorer correctly?
The simpler method i had luck with is to use adam's heimall oneclick uckj4. then flash a second time with boot loader box checked if you don't already have BL.
then flash the defuse kernel in the second post to give you red recovery. then flash away with rom of choice
edit: if you are already rooted, couldn't you just DL sgskernel flasher from market, and flash gtg's kernel to give you red cwm/voodoo lag fix and then flash the rom of choice? - check out gtg's original post on the pin up.

The YT vids sets the background.
I'm sorry to hear you softbricked your phone..usually from not following or incorrectly applying the methods...
Look at my later post,
I prefer method is to use adam's heimdall uckj4 one click and follow through all the way until after flashing the defuse kernel to get cwm
if you're soft brick, that will also restore your phone with gb bl.
softbrick is part of learning too...check out my funny read post for s&g

I got it up and going again. I used GTG Unbrick guide.
I tried using Heimdall after that. It came back with an error on the kernel.
I almost hate android devices. There's such a learning curve for rooting/romming every device.
Now I am back to stock after using GTG Unbrick again.

Looks like you're back to stock. I like heimdall but it looks like Odin is what you're comfortable with.
In this qa section, gtg has a thread up for infused v2 rom. You can start there. Go with cwm installation.
Just make sure you have the roms of your choice already downloaded. Instead of using the infused rom, just flash the one of your choice.

Remember to wipe cache and dalvik cache in the advance setting s of cwm
I'm lost! I've rooted my At&t Samsung Infuse. I'm still stock. I've read a few threads I've downloaded 3e Recovery it shows up as NewStock.tar.md5 every video or post I can find demonstrates or goes through steps saying recovery. I tried following along with videos I get stuck in the root explorer because I can't find the recovery to paste the NewStock.tar.md5 file to all I come across is reboot. Can anyone help?

I see Kaik541 has a thread in Dev section for an ODIN version of KF1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14782572&postcount=1
This is for those who want to flash and root from using the tar files.
I personally always remove my external memory and sim card before using odin. It is not needed as people will obviously post and neither is doing master clear. I do these steps just to make sure I eliminate any possible issues that can occur during flashing.
1) Download Firmware from http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-samsungusa.htm
2) Flash back to stock JF6 w/ odin one-click and did a master clear.
3) Flash Gingerbread KF1 using Odin (see image attached)
4) Flash fugu kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1010141 (I attached the zImage-root.tar to post if link does not work)
In the first post look for and select the download link in step 2: (credit to nikademus)
How to use:
1: Flash the stock rom
2: Download the image for Heimdall or for Odin
3: Flash it with either Odin or Heimdall
4: Boot once, it will install root and crash/shutdown (it is preferred to let the phone connected to usb so it does not loop boot)
5: Reflash the original kernel
5) Flash stock kernel (attached kernelKF1.7z) credit to lownox for helping me on that
6) Settings>Applications> enable Unknown Sources (AT&T finally got something right)
7) Install busybox from market
8) ENJOY!
thanks for the write up man

I want to do that but I haven't learn how to do anything beyond deodexed. I also still haven't had time to learn how to add "extras" like extended power menu or additional lock screens.
If someone wants to PM the instructions or a link to do so, I'll be happy to do and have it ready tomorrow.
Do we really need another Odin guide? Write one on heimdall. It's open source and actually maintained. It also has a lower brick rate.

Honestly I have never used Heimdall and have never had an issue with ODIN. With that said I also have no objection if anyone wants to write up the parts for Heimdall here or by PMing me, I'll add to it the first post. I am not about to reflash again just to learn a new process when the old one has not given me a single issue.
made a deodex version, just dont know what to do with it
its not ready for flash or anything and its just deodexed using illdroid.

There's really nothing new to learn. It looks and loads almost exactly like Odin. Not sure what processes are different when you push the start button though. I'm not pushing heimdall, just conveying what i've seen with it. I used once to load the last Andro3.

Darky ROM is not compatible with Infuse.
None of the roms under "download" in Rom Manager are compatible for the Infuse Phone except for the one under the heading of: "gtg465x" which is the Infused rom which can also be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105413
There are 2 other custom roms which are made for the Infuse, one is called "Bionix Infinity" which you can find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1120469
The other rom is called "Refused" which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101072
If you are having problems getting the phone back into recovery mode there is only one thing which will solve the problem for you.
You will need to download the "Ultimate Unbrick" rom.
You can find the Ultimate Unbrick rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
This will get you back to the stock froyo 2.2 rom.
Be sure to follow the step by step instructions in the link above.
Good Luck!

Don't worry, your phone is NOT bricked at all, it just has to go into download mode and re-flashed with the stock rom using the Odin3 (TAR file method).
The reason you cannot get it back to recovery mode is that by trying to flash a none compatible rom it messes up the bootloader in the phone and as far as I can tell the only way to get it to work is by using Odin flash method which is really easy if you follow all the instructions completely.
Again, good luck!

Good job on reading threads before flashing Anything smart one! BTW there are only like 3 roms out for this phone right now!!!
Big dog Infuse I997 running Infused 1.5.3, Defused 1.5
Hello, I am a long-time viewer of xda but a new member, this is my first post.
(and yes, i looked for a similar theard. i could not find one.)
So, onto the problem.
I flashed Infinitum 1.1.1 to my Infuse using cwm recovery. I noticed problems right off the bat when after i had installed the zip, i rebooted into recovery then it got stuck on the samsung logo and i had to pull the battery (a normal event when flashing this rom) So when i pulled the battery and booted into recovery to try again, the cwm recovery was terribly screwed up. The top half of the screen was pixelated, and the navigation menu was off center. I was still able to use cwm to flash the rom successfully, But cwm remains srewed up.
So i tried to reflash cwm recovery using rom manager. but when i rebooted i was stuck in a recovery boot-loop that i had to get out of using odin.
I then flashed the rom again using the same procedure suggested by its developer, and it worked, but cwm is still acting as it was before. (the pixelated top half of the screen and the off center navigation menu. )
So can i get some help? i thought about removing cwm the using some other recovery. I also heard that cwm wont work on ics, but im unsure what it is.
Thanks in advance.
You don't have Gingerbread bootloaders. That's why recovery looks the way it does.
You need to Odin or Heimdall back to Gingerbread stock (I find Heimdall much easier for this) and then flash Entropy's DD kernel to get back into red recovery to flash Infinitum.

Yeah, ICS recovery doesn't play nice with Froyo bootloaders.
AFAIK, there is no way to get Gingerbread bootloaders without reverting to stock. With Heimdall it's an incredibly simple, and quick process. I just had to do it myself a couple nights ago

Just follow all the instructions for Heimdall to a T (there aren't many) and everything will be fine
Yeah...heimdal is the best way to get bootloaders...odin doesnt always do it and no custom rom includes them that i am aware of...
I had written detailed instructions for another person...ill try and find them and paste it here...

Have you tried flashing boot loaders?
Here is how to do it...
1) Download uclb3 heimdal by qckster
2) open the program
3) put phone in download mode
4) click flash (leave program open when finished DO NOT CLOSE)
5) after it finishes and your phone reboots, put the phone back in download mode and reconnect to PC
6) click flash bootloader on the heimdal program you left running
7) flash, let reboot and your problems should be gone
Download mode instructions
1) pull battery
2) put battery back in
3) hold volume up + down
4) connect phone to PC with USB cable *don't let go of volume*
Just because you were on gingerbread previously does nit mean you have ginger bread boot loaders...I had ginger bread since the first leaks and did not have boot loaders until a month or two ago when I flashed them using those steps above...
Good luck!

Thank you for posting the guide. I literally just got done flashing GB bootloaders to my Infuse because of the rainbow Recovery when I'm on ICS. I used Odin though and used GB loader that a member posted in the AOKP Uniporn thread. I was scared but there really isn't anything to be afraid of. I tried using Heimdall but dang that was nerve racking because I was trying to use it on Mac and it wouldn't let me do the flash.

Good deal, glad you got it sorted out. And to clear up some confusion that is in this thread: you don't have to flash an entire Gingerbread rom to get the bootloaders. We all have our preferred ways of doing it, but you CAN flash just the bootloaders.
Here is both a Heimdall and an Odin way to get JUST the bootloaders. That's all that is necessary for someone who has rainbow distortion issues on an ICS or Gingerbread rom.:
See the third post (HERE) in Entropy512's Unofficial CM9 thread for instructions on how to flash just the bootloaders using the Heimdall command line. Or, see the answer to question 1.) in the FAQ of the rooted UCLB3 Odin thread which is HERE.

Heimdall is one way to get the bootloaders, and here's how I did it.:
heimdall flash --primary-boot boot.bin --secondary-boot Sbl.bin
The second part of your statement isn't true. Odin doesn't do it only when the user can't figure out how to use Odin.
thank you everyone.
Being a creature of habit i ended up flashing to rom and bootloaders using odin. that did indeed fix CWM right up.

The booting animation came up with the word Android flashing on top of it, the S logo soon went away and only left with the android logo and the phone seems to be stuck there. I could go into the CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v3.0.2.8x by pressing every button on the phone. What can I do now to get my phone working again?

Yes, I'm talking about the SGS4G, I thought I would play around with my SGS4G after upgraded to SIII. I have no tried Heimdall One Click. What can I do with it?

Put your phone in download mode and run Heimdall. There are three versions, but one is just a kernel that get your phone rooted if you're on a stock rom. Run either other two will get your phone back to Gingerbread. Remember to click on boot loader option as well if you are from Froyo. This will ensure your phone boot up properly and able to get into CWM if you decided to install a custom rom like ICS.

Where exactly can I download Heimdall? I tried to look around and I found One Click Unpackager, One Click Unbrick. I'm not sure which one I should use.

The model I have is T959 without the v? Is there a difference between the two? Is it ok to use the T959V version?
No... the 959 is just the SGS, not the SGS4G. And they're VERY different. You'll want to go to the SGS forum if you actually have a T959, no-V.
I'm pretty sure this is the 4G version. Maybe I have the model number wrong, but the box of the phone has the picture of the Avatar movie on it. Or the vibrant version. Is that a T959 or T959V?
edit: after a little bit digging, I might be on the wrong forum :S

Yes, yours is a Vibrant version. You cannot use roms in this forum. It will get your phone bricked. Go to the Vibrant forum instead.

Got it! Gonna head there now. Thanks for your help anyway.
Hello everyone,
It's my first time witnessing this issue, I do have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. So I decided to upgraded Eclairs to Gingerbread. Which I did.
Somehow I downloaded the CM7 ROM in the SGS 4G section, I have flashed it and now everytime I click "reboot system now", it's just putting me back to CWM Recovery over and over again. Now I got tired of it, so I tried flashing the SlimBean in hopes of making my device work the way they should, but it's the same result. When I cleared data, flashed the ROM and Gapps and when I click "reboot system now", It shows the boot screen but then it transferred me back to recovery. I don't really know what to do.
Urgent help needed. Thank you all.
can you acess into download mode?

Yes I can, also tried it with CM9, same results it shows recovery everytime. I need some help. :crying:
You say you went from Eclair (Did this phone even come with that? I thought it started with Froyo. Huh. At least, mine did.) to Gingerbread. Is the Gingerbread you started with CM7, or did you start with one that actually has normal GB bootloaders first? Because if you haven't yet, as with any major bootlooping issue, you'll want to use a proper GB one-click. If you failed to double-flash one of those to get the GB bootloaders earlier, do that ASAP. And hope hard that they come.
You are missing the boot loader if you went straight to Gingerbread. Use Heimdall One Click to flash to Gingerbread. Also click on the bootloader option as well when you flash.

Can you give me the names of the GB one-click?
Search for lumin30. He has an awesome guide and links to what you are looking for. It's in his signature.
I'll add, back up your .efs folder. Put copy on your computer.

Can anyone tell me this guide works on starting from a CM7 Rom. I don't get it at all. Since it started from Stock Froyo.
