best ics rom - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am looking for the best icss rom to suse ln my xoom wifi only. The one with the lleast bugs.

i didnt check the Port that its on dev section, But the team eos ROM is awesome!
just the camara doenst work

There's only Team EOS at the moment.

I think there are only two at the moment, the Team Eos Nightlies or the Xoom Zone one. They are both based on AOSP and have similar issues. Read through the threads and see which one you prefer... not really anything else to do.

It is very premature to being discussing the "best" ICS Xoom ROM...especially as there is only one produced at the moment (the Xoom ZOne was produced as a stopgap while awaiting the Tiamat/Eos ICS ROM, I believe).
I will always support the professionalism and skill of the Eos/Tiamat team, but I am sure once the official ROM is leaked by Gogglola, other options will appear.

there is a third rom also that has a somewhat functioning camera.

We are missing camera drivers, its not the app. I dont think you can move them to the microsd, but why would you want to when you have 28GB of space on the xoom?

32GB (1000 bytes is a kilobyte)= 29.8GiB (1024 bytes is a kilobyte) the other 1.8 GiB of space is used for various system partitions leaving you with 28GiB of available "user" storage.

So this device which we have on our hands would be merged to the CM tree instead of a random port from a random t2 device right?

There's no need for that mate. There are many stupid questions here, but calling someone stupid is just not necessary.
Wouldnt it need NFC as well?
My bad thinking of wallet...
Unfortunately Honeycomb and below is "dead" development, people are focused on doing more on ICS than anything.
When Eclair rolled out, development stopped on Cupcake and Donut, and now its quite hard to imagine someone still working on those old versions of Android. Well, looks like GB, HC, and Froyo is in that boat.
I suggest you get a new phone. (I need one too. I'm still stuck on gingerbread)

There was a Jellybean port to ARM6 devices tested on Galaxy Gio by some guy, Im sure we can make a Google Now port.
Well coming from a jelly beaned phone, you do need an arm7 and unfortunately, your phone doesn't have one. You can try porting it but it will come out with bugs.

I think you would still need to get ICS on your device, but at least your ARM6 is being shown a little love.
I'm still holding out on a gingerbread port of it, though.
How to install Google Now on my rooted Tmobile Galaxy S2 ?

I believe Google Now is JellyBean specific. However, it's up to the devs to have it in a flashable zip or apk format for ICS devices.

Ewww...that's disgusting.
But as many people feel, I do not feel that someone will actually take the time to figure out how to do it. Do remember that the framework is VERY different. But I am not losing hope that someone....someone...will take the time and get this working. ICS is not as fast as GB on my phone. However, GNow is enough of a reason for my to flash ICS to my phone every few days.
(OG Evo 4G running Decks ICS - 7.09.12 build flashed with GNow)
So GNow is a ploy to get ppl to just buy new phones, that have ICS or better?
Well that's how I see it, the majority of ppl use gingerbread, why not cater to them gooooooooogle?? Its A shame they keep creating new os's like every year or so when phones last so much longer then that.
Offline dictation should of been available back back well there never should of been a connection dependent voice(voice search, dictation, voice anything from google) or w/e.

There's always a benefit of root my friend. First and for most is removing bloarware (AT&T preinstalled apps that take up memory and space in background) So many other reasons why root is best. How I describe it to people is like this. Taking a Governor off a car is similar to rooting an android phone. Technically there is only one ROM made from OTA ICS right now here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960679 but there are others in the development section built of previous ICS "Leaks" we obtained. Such as SCV7, Swifty Trix, CM10, MIUI and a stock based off OTA as well. Hope this helped explain a little. Enjoy the power of the Dark side!

Umm, cm10 is a true opensource rom and not based on any leak/OTA, it is compiled from scratch. The only files taken from ICS are a few libraries and kernel modules and the like, and those have no bearing on version of ICS they were taken from.

Yes, your right Jim. CM is device-wide... forgot to mention that. Shouldn't mater what version of ICS your on. But with this new fxz back to ICS stock I'm feeling more secure now hahaha. Yes, I would be the perfectionist too if it came to making my own ROM. Probably why I never have attempted yet. I am probably not an ideal tester, due to lack of technical knowledge regarding Android, but should you need a tester of the moderate abilities, and knowledge I would be more than willing to be of help if I actually was help. I currently am running the build of CM10 that is currently available, and am impressed with it, but look forward to your build with much anticipation. No, and no. No on 2nd system because it still uses the same underlying stock ICS kernel.
If you took the OTA, then you are stuck on ICS. This has been the case with major android releases and not being able to go backward for a very long time.

Also this has been asked and answered so many times now. AOKP will most likely not come to this phone, but there is CM10 and CM10.1 if those ever become bug free then maybe, but I would highly doubt it.

User error.
Edit: allow me to elaborate.
1. You seem to only call it buggy and useless never asking what you could do to fix it or if anyone else is experiencing the same issues. You are a troll in the purest form and attacking developers hard work is idiotic.
2. You have in no way shown me that you have even the slightest competency in these forums so your merit is in question.
3. Now that the call audio bug is fixed the only thing I can think of that's left is mhl support and this could hit stable. If cm endorses a build as official that means a certain criteria must be met and verified its not a title cm will allow you to slap onto your average build.

I haven't had issues with files on cm in a long while.
Is VoIP a native feature of the 727 because if it wasn't then its not required.
Edit: are those enough to call a ROM useless or garbage? I ask because he has called cm both. Is that acceptable to you because trashing devs in my eyes means you better have the skill to do better.

I agree.. garbage and useless is uncalled for. Its free for gods sake.. And pretty damn useful..
You can't do a Google plus hangout without VoIP so I would say that's necessary...
All I intended to say was that official 4.2.2 will be nice to make cm more complete..

On the VoIP thing agreed and now that the call audio thing is dealt with the last couple features will drop like flies.

I haven't had any problems with most 4.2.2. ROMs that have been made for the skyrocket. Then only issue was with the call audio, but as mtdew has mentioned that has been resolved already.
The JEDI rom is solid for a TW rom.

Are you referring to Sons of Android? That's a CM based ROM on 4.2.2. Jedi Jelly is 4.1.2 and TW based.

As I was reading something else, I remembered this. You're right.
SOA is CM based but for some reason I was thinking the JEDI JELLY was 4.2.2. but slipped my mind that it was still 4.1.2.
Thanks for catching that.

No problem! Just didn't want someone to search for JEDI looking for a 4.2.2 TW ROM and get all pissy that they ended up on SOA (What a travesty! *Sarcasm*).

HDMI works fine for me. You need to SEARCH and find the build prop edit to enable it

Get the AT&T Atrix on JB Leak and then PA 3.99 RC-2

Hey all. I was looking yesterday, and I couldn't find a good guide on how to install the JB Leak onto the AT&T atrix 2. I wanted this because I wanted to install PA 3.99 RC-2. I tried flashing it, but got on a black screen. Thanks!

You didn't find a guide on installing JB leaks on AT&T phones because you can't flash the JB leaks on AT&T phones.
I'm not sure which PA you're referring to, but there could be several things causing your issues. Provide some more details like how are you flashing it, which recovery, which system are you flashing it to, what size partitions did you set up, etc, to help us help you get it working correctly.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

There's a thread for BMM in the general section. It explains all of that.
