the Sensation is a pre-release ROM that has yet to be fine-tuned by HTC

Wait what? This is new information. If it's true, then why the heck is that ROM on my phone?
Thanks, very thorough review.
What a load of biased ****. Sorry Sensation brotherhood but your blind if you can't see the straight up favoritism towards the Sensation. In the categories where the GSII wins, he makes up some excuse like, "The GSII is faster because its running on a final release but HTC released the Sensation on a pre-release ROM." Ill be the first to say that I love my camera on my Sensation and that its better than my G2X but if you take the time to fiddle with some settings, the GSII camera is better. Especially during low light conditions.
I know most Sensation owners are going GaGa over this review but I'm not affraid to say it SUCKED. There is nothing I hate more than biased reviews. Especially when someone clearly wastes a **** load of there time to come to a false conclusion. Bottom line. Samsung is innovating with its hardware accelerated browsing and fast ass Exynos chip while HTC is releasing phones clearly not ready for mainstream use.

It's fine that he likes the Sensation better, other people do too. But if you're biased going in, don't pretend to be objective. To JR's point, it's very transparent. There were things that he originally stated about the SGS2 that weren't factual. The writer came back to the SGS2 forum and apologized because he posted a link there a couple of weeks ago and his inaccuracies were pointed out. I didn't reread the article to see if he updated it. If it were just one guy's opinion, and he declared that, fine. It would be like any of us sharing our personal opinions. But to set the comparison up as a detailed semi-professional test and reach some of the conclusions he did, not very credible. And with his constant interjection of his personal opinion, I wouldn't have found him or the article any more credible even if he deemed the SGS2 the winner.

I have the Sensation now and not the SGS2. I would have read all that before release day in the US but I'm happy with my S4G and can't mess with that damn novel.
That review is from June which is probably why they said it was a pre-release ROM. It's probably a review unit they send all around.

It still feels like a pre-release ROM. Does it not? Last time I checked, Sense is anything but smooth. I had to throw LP and ADW on the Sensation to make it feel like a dual core device.

Thank for your comments. For your better understanding HTC chip-set of 1.2 dual core and andreno 220 is far more better that SGS2's 1.2 dual core and 2008's Mali-400 chip-set. I used both the handsets and now using HTC Sensation after SGS2.
The main problem with htc is it's locked boot-loader and it's stock rom which is really not ready to use the full power.. The power is not equally distributed. Benchmark is not everything as sensation has issues with sense 3.0 and better pixels than the SGS2. Below is some link where you can understand the whole technical issues.

So, saying HTC is releasing phones clearly not ready for mainstream use is not true. SGS2 is good as well as the HTC Sensation sometimes sensation is better. When HTC unlocked its boot-loader we all will see. Stay tuned without any bad comments.

Is not FAR more better. Samsung always has some of the best CPUs and GPUs in the mobile market which is why all there devices are always at the top in benchmarks. Bottom line. The GSII is more responsive than our Sensation.

Do you own a SGS2? Exactly how much more responsive is it in real world use from your personal experience? Right now to own one in the US you have to pay 2-3x the price of owning a Sensation, go without a US warranty, and use ATT's network. Or you could move to another country to own it. Is it that much more responsive?
Being theoretically better, having better benchmark numbers , or marginal real world responsiveness isn't the "bottom line" for everyone.
Now i wonder why all the ruckus over the gs2 seems like its not better in real life use. Only better on paper. I'm happy with what i got no problems no worries this phone fast enough for me .

Samnada i agree the phone is useless in the us so why even compare . Is it worth 700 dollars to get a better quadrant score and to take uglier pictures. Samsung has beautiful screens but are made to damn cheap .

No I do not own a GSII for one reason. I refuse to go without 3G and I refuse to give ATT my money. I could care less about the cost of the phone as it would be cheaper than the 2 phones combined I've purchased in the past 2 months. The Sensation and the G2X which I purchased off contract. I have 2 friends that are in ATT and use the GSII. I have played all the games I play on the Sensation on their GSII and the games run smoother on it. I don't doubt that the Adreno 220 is powerful enough to run all my games smoothly but I'm getting sick and tired of HTC releasing their products with half ass drivers.

You must not know what your talking about if you think it takes uglier pictures. It actually has a nicer camera than the Sensation and this reviewer stated so after he found out what settings to change. Yes the Sensation takes better pictures when both are on default settings but the GSII probably has the nicest camera on a phone after you play around with the settings. Not to mention its superior low light performance.

The Exysnos processor is better than the Dual Core Snapdragon just like the Hummingbird was better than the single core Snapdragon. Just be happy with your Sensation and stop trying to justify your purchase. Once the Sensation becomes as smooth as the GSII then we can talk bench marks but for right now during every day real world use, the GSII feels faster. Not to mention the GSII brings hardware acceleration to the browser. Something our Qualcom can't do.
By the way...Error 404 on both links.

I prefer the sensation to sgs2 regardless of benchmarks or performence, mostly because of sense and nicer aesthetics
But I do have one concern, if you got to system/lib/egl, all the libs say adreno 200, could that be affecting performance?
HTC Swyped from my Sensation using XDA Premium
Actually the OP is right about the adreno 220 being better than the mali 400. The difference is the way samsung optimized the performance of their GPU with drivers and such. But for what the GPU can do spec wise, adreno 220 is superior. Too bad htc did not do a good job of showcasing that.

Thanks for your reply, I updated those link. Now you will know what you said is not true. I am not justifying anything, True will be true. SGS2 is overclocked to 1.2 by samsung and its all software issues which is, what makes the benchmark result great. Main thing is Other than the GL benchmark, all benchmarking soft is not up to date for the sensation. As its use console-quality 3D graphics and high-end effects such as vertex skinning, full-screen post-processing shader effects, dynamic lighting with full-screen alpha blending, real-time cloth simulation, advanced shader effects like dynamic shadows, god rays, bump mapping.
I trialed one on ATT...and: No its not...(unfortunately)
I think both phones need a cyanogen 2.3.4 rom and then we can see how they perform against each other..sadly for us sensation owners... August couldn't come any quicker lol.

Let me ask you something. If the Adreno is so good then why does HomeRun Battle 3D lag sometimes on my Sensation but never lagged once on my Tegra II powered G2X. I could care less about benchmarks or how Samsung is reaching the high numbers. What matters more to me is real world use. I could also care less if Samsung or HTC optimized there processors better than the other. Bottom line. Both of them should be optimized for best performance upon mass release. HTC always has problems with there drivers and quite frankly, the Adreno 220 could be 10 times better than the Mali or the Tegra II but if it doesn't have the software to back it up then its no good to me or you. By the time we get root or better drivers, Tegra III will be out smoking everything in its path including the Adreno 220.
By the way, the Adreno may be better than the Mali but the Snapdragon is very much inferior to the Exynos which is more powerful when it comes to raw processing power. I wish HTC would just ditch Qualcom all together because TI and Samsung continue to **** all over them.

It will not be August/September for the Sensation. Yes it will be unlocked but that is when the custom rom process begins. It will be weeks to months later before you get any stable releases of everything.
The final product Samsung has provided in the Galaxy S II appears to be significantly faster than what HTC provides in the Sensation. I do not use the individual parts of my phone. I use the final product. So whoever optimized what does not matter to me as much as what I see on the screen and hold in my hand.
I prefer the Sensation right now. That is also what I own. The phone before that was the G2x and I liked that one as well...I preferred it to the Galaxy S 4g and the MyTouch 4g. Before that I had a preference for GS 4g...and it goes on from there. I buy the phones I prefer. It is kinda funny to see people defend the smartphone they bought as though they designed and built it themselves.

Exactly, I buy whatever phone I like and right now I use a Sensation and a G2X. I think the Sensation is better than the G2X but I think the GSII is better than the Sensation and I'm not affraid to admit that just because I own the Sensation. If people think the Sensation is better than the GSII then they think the Sensation is the best Android phone available right now since almost every review I've read labels the GSII the best Android device to date. In fact, 9 out of 10 reviews state the GSII took Android to the next level but I haven't read any review stating the Sensation took it to the next level. Maybe if HTC would have released it with optimized drivers we would see reviews stating such.

My Sensation gets extremely hot when playing Homerun Battle 3D and my G2X gets no where near as hot when playing the same game. In fact, after playing for 30 minutes it gets so hot that sometimes my screen becomes unresponsive to touch but the accelerometer still works. I think its definitely a driver issue but something shouldn't be getting so hot that it renders the phone useless.

I would imagine the heat you're talking about might be the battery not as much as the cpu.
I got my "1900mAh" Anker battery a few days ago and I can confirm, as others have in the Anker thread, that it doesn't get anywhere near as hot as it did with the OEM battery.
The easiest test for me was Angry Birds..... 30-45 min with stock battery, 45c avrg. Very hot to hold, even through my case. This Anker....28c avrg. Barley warm...huge difference.
No matter if the numbers are correct, one thing is for sure....I no longer feel ANY excessive heat even with prolonged heavy use.
If heat is why you'd get rid of your Sensation, spend 10 bones and get a new battery. Cheap and stays cool and lasts way longer
That site is funny.
"These benchmark tests shows that Tegra 2 takes the lead over Exynos in almost every category. Specially, this is especially true for mobile gaming."
Looks like everything is better than Exynos.
But you are wrong, sensation is weak.

Hey people!! This reminds to me, old times with the HTC HD2 ( quetly brillant )
jajajaja yea yea... just quietly brillant... with the optimized drivers!
I have to laugh at all these banchmarks between the two...they aren't exactly valid.
The Sensation has a higher res screen that is has to push...which obviously means it has more work to do....it's not a fair comparison.
And in any case...benchmarks mean nothing to me...I chose to buy the Sensation because it looks so much better than the GS2, it has a better interface in Sense 3, and it's HTC

Are you really asking that question on a sensation forum?
no , i am just kidding buddy
actually i would love to ask some one honest , that's why i am asking here
Well i'm not really in much of a positon to comment, as I have a Sensation!
If I were you i'd read all the reviews out there and have a play with both phones in the store, then make your mind up!
S2 anytime sensation is slow compared (had both) amd battery on sensation gets so hot its frightening . The s2 scores around 3500 on quadrant and the sensation around 2400 but its same processor that should tell you something. Also the screen on the s2 is nicer
There is one downfall with the s2 and thats the pink spot on the camera but software has sorted most problems out
If you get s2 you wont be disappointed I know I wasn't

I have a sensation and a HD2.
Last weekend had the chance to play a couple of minutes with the GS2.
And one thing really got my attention.
The GS2 feels really really big!! I mean brick like big!
And I'm saying that when also owning a HD2 so I'm used to big phones
In all the reviews I've read, the consensus is the the GSII is marginally quicker, but is lacking in build quality. There is also the debate of SAMOLED+ vs qHD SLCD.
I have never been a fan of Samsung. HTC has yet to do me wrong.
Best advice I can give you is to find one of each and out them through their paces. Pick the one that you like more. Easy, right?

It isn't the same chip, clock speed and the overall ARM architecture are the only similarities. Also, the Sensation is running a much higher pixel count, so will under-perform in comparison due to the extra graphical requirements.
These points above have been covered on this forum countless times before.
Both have there strengths and weaknesses. I have a Sensation but will probably buy a GSII once they release stateside. I love the look of Super AMOLED displays and believe it or not, I like Touch Wiz for the simple fact that its light weight and when I run ADW on top of it, you don't eveb know its running besides the fact, you get to keep some cool features from it such as swiping left and right on a contact to start a text message or call them. I also like Samsung as a whole. I have 4 Samsung LED TV's in my house and every one of them looks superb. My 4 Samsung LCD's prior to them all looked perfect as well and I never had a problem with them in the 5 years I owned them. I also like the fact that Samsung is innovating in multiple markets. They make the LED panels for Sony and then Sony slaps there name and a new menu onto the TV and over charges the **** out of it. When it comes to display technology, nobody can hold a candle to Samsung as they are leading that industry aswell. When it comes to mobile devices, Samsung has been leading in processing power since the debut of the Hummingbird. I like the fact how they design the phone from the ground up but most every other company just purchases genaric parts or parts from Samsung to complete there phones.
In the end, there both good phones but I don't like how HTC can't optimize their drivers for the life of them. They've been like that since Winmo. They also could have done a better job with Sense 3.0 but its obvious they didn't optimize that either.

anyway, both good phones.
can't really go wrong with either. just got to pick the one that fits your taste more.
I prefer the built quality, style/look of the Senny and I like Sense UI...

Lol. The iphone screen is tiny. Sgs has slightly better hardware but touchwiz is even ****tier than sense and Samsung phones just feel cheap. Sensation feels like an executive phone. 1 gb is more than enough for all the apps you could want. I have about 100 apps installed and have filled less than half of it.

Hard to say what's faster without comparing them both on exactly the same ROM. I've heard that the Snapdragon has slightly more brute force than the Exynos (45 MFLOPS on the Exynos, compared to 46 on the Snapdragon).
If I can find someone with a Galaxy S2, I'm going to put both phones on CM7 and run a series of benchmarks on them. That'll really show us what's faster.

Exynos is faster at the same clock speed, simply because the A9 is a better architecture than the Scorpion.

Buy the upcoming Hercules. The galaxy s 2 is supposed to be the best android phone. The sensation is good, but the galaxy s2 is just flat out better.

The Hercules will have the same processor as the Sensation (well, all the info points to that so far).
Seriously?!?! You would ask that question in the Sensation forum. I don't believe any of us here would purchase a phone of this type without proper thought given.
Find an iPhone forum and ask them which they think is better, I'm sure you can guess what they would say.
In the end you have to decide which features are most important to you and then match that up with a phone that provides those features.
There's no such thing as a perfect phone although in my opinion the Sensation comes damn close.

The camera on the HTC sensation is quite good in my opinion. And I'm very impressed with the 1080 p recording. Now I own a sensation 4g but I will sell it for the Hercules because, my personal experience, sense lags and considering this is a 1.2 Ghz dual core nothing should lag on this phone. Sense is very nice no question about that, but it's a heavy UI and it clearly slows down the phone. But the Qhd resolution on the phone is excellent, the build of the phone is unique and sexy and it is HTC so those are the pros for me. Cons are that the phone isnt as fast as other dual core smartphones, the speaker is pretty much useless and more ram would have been great considering sense takes a lot of it. But there's already S-off for the sensation so if you want to root and install custom ROMs than you should be fine, but then again you could do the same on the Hercules except you would have better hardware. I can talk all day, but at the end it's just a matter of what you're looking for. I want speed speed and more speed and unfortunately the sensation isn't speedy enough for me.
Buy the damn thing
Definitely buy a sensation, perfect phone since s-off is out.
Nice battery, big screen.
Wondering if there will be lack of development because its not going to be able to use the international roms if I'm right?

I would, if I didn't have to pay out the wazoo for it lol. Hardware-wise, it'll smoke the Sensation 4G, well, except for resolution! But, even with that, it has the SAMOLED+ screen which is probably much better than ours (even though ours is pretty good).
I might wait till I find someone who gets sick if it and wants to trade for MT sensation. Lol
U never know I may get lucky. The sooner the better

HTC build quality is much better, plus I'm an HTC loyalist. HTC phones always feel more solid and sturdy than the plasticky samsung phones. They're too light weight almost and feel like I could break them with my bear hands. I like the aluminum frame of the Sensation. I'm very happy with my sensation. SAMOLED screens are better in most cases, but I had a friend who owned a vibrant and that screen had an annoying blue tinge, as do most of the samoled screens I think. The screen I have has very pure whites and surprisingly dark blacks, and is fine in sunlight, especially compared to my old phone. I can read texts just fine in bright daylight, this screen is very bright. Plus the resolution is higher. I love the qHD screen.
I am day one....selling my sensation

The nice thing about the T-Mobile sgs2 is its not plastic. Its brushed aluminum from the looks of it which is just gorgeous.

So the sgs2 is different than the sgs4g? I must be thinking of a different device. The sgs2 is the Samsung galaxy s two right?

I'll be getting one but keeping the Sensation. I love that big screen and I'm not thrilled with HTC's build quality. Everything on my Sensation seems a little loose and shakey, but I'm curious to see what the dev's will do with it.

Please elaborate how it would "smoke" the sensation hardware wise.
Sgs2 is Samsung galaxy uhh woops. Its sg2 lol.
The sgs4g was the virbrant plus flash and 4g. Single core.
Sg2 is dual core.
I like sense and I have feeling sense will only.get faster with upcoming roms but if it doesn't seem to get much better I'm definetly going sg2.
I'm not saying sense roms are slow now. They are really fast. Just not lightening fast.

Why...
Are people on here so addicted to new tech that they will jump to another phone as soon as a new one comes out?
I got the phone I wanted on a 2yr contract knowing that in less than 6m it would be surpassed by something newer but not neccessarily better.
I like the Sensation and can't see me changing for the S2 espec as I would not be able to cover the cost of a sim-free version.
If I had wanted the S2 I would have got it and then lived with it for the life of my contract
The Sensation is not a perfect phone, but it's a darn good one (better than the iphone 3g) I came from.
I dont think the phone will be any faster than the sensation considering its not shipping with the exynos SOC/
So outta curiosity how truly good is cyanogenmod? Someone who really knows his stuff.
Cause I tried it on sensation just a bit ago and although yea it is quick it didn't blow me away. Went right back to sense.
Also deriving from what I mentikned up there I saw someone post something about a new nexus s being faster then cyanogenmod??
I mention this because one of my friends whose a girl and knows nkthig about phones had soooo much crap on the nexus s. It was the sprint version I believe. And with like three messaging apps all running, many different browsers, and seriusly a whole lotta crap the phone was sooooo fast.
I literally was stunned. It was stock and every single thing I did on it was instantaneous.
And u know when u see bunch of stuff in notification bar and u just kinda know it ll lag a bit. I felt that but was surprised with zero lag.
It sadly has me thinking...

I'm planning to sell my Sensation and buy the Galaxy S2 once it's released for T-Mobile USA!

The Sensation has a higher resolution screen, and that hits performance because the phone has to push data to more pixels; also the Sensation and SG2 have similar processors (as you pointed out) but the Sensation runs at 1.2 MHz and the SG2 runs at 1.5 MHz.
ROMs aside, the SG2 is faster on paper.

I agree with you I have always like the HTC build quality but performance wise they have been lacking and the debacle the caused with the so called Bootloader unlock then say screw you no warranty was the icing on the cake. I came from a Evo 4g to the Sensation to the Epic 4G Touch resolution not a problem for me. the performance and smoothness of the OS what's going to appeal to the OS faithful that may come running seeing that Apple decided to give them nothing. this year basically all this hype and they got what would be a 3GS to the 4g lol.

I will give you that. I love HTC Sense as well but I believe that as of right now its to bloated and holding back what the processor is really capable of.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
well i got play with the Amaze a couple days ago and i can tell you for a fact that the processor is definately snappier in stock form , i was getting 2700 quadrant scores with it stock , now with that said i think the SGS2 will be alot faster running a more vanilla android, I am planning on getting a SGS2 and i cant believe im even saying that ,reason being is that the sensation is falling apart on me , the glass coverig my camera lens fell out and that wasnt a big deal to me until the rocker on the volume button fell off , now i dont know if flashing three thousand times already has something to do with it but im a little dissapointed by that. all being said i just want a bigger screen and thats the main reason plus it gets the better processor and front camera
Not me
I wanted an SGS2 bad enough to almost buy one from overseas unlocked when they first hit the market. But since Samsung decided to release it here last, there are new phones coming out before the end of the year that by far surpass the SGS2. America is the largest consumer of High-end smart phones (yes, i researched it) mainly because we constantly upgrade to the newest and best. Samsung was stupid to release it here last. If someone gave me an SGS2 in trade i'd do it, but it's not worth sinking more cash into a new SGS2 when quad-core is literally right around the corner. Plus phones like the Sharp Aquas and the Note (can't remember which company is making it) will be out in a few months and they surpass the SGS2 in speed, display, screen size, etc. (and these aren't event quad-core as far as the specs ive seen, but still better than the SGS2).
Anyways, that's my 2 cents. I'll be waiting for a Quad-core device with Ice Cream Sandwich. Plus, the PS vita is quad-core and you can make calls from it Better than PS3 graphics in the palm of my hand! Talk about a gaming device! hahahahah
