LOL I F'D up on the title here. I just wanted opinions from you owenrs.
My birthday is in a few weeks and I am going to be getting a new phone and I have been looking at this phone off and on.
I am a smartphone fanatic and I've owned a Vibrant in the past before my parents switched over to Virgin Mobile. I currently own a Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V now *gag*
I only got it because it was either the Intercept or Blackberry at the time.
I am considering getting a refurb Galaxy S 4g or just getting a brand new one but i wanted to know...
As of today...What are your thoughts...Opinions about this phone?
Are you content with it? Do you regret it?
I was looking at a sensation, but aside from having a great camera on the back...I was not WOWED!. I don't need the latest and greatest but I am growing tired of this POS Optimus V and I Want something that is not too expensive but is a great fit.

yea, at this point in time you might as well wait for the hercules. this is a great phone, but you can get the SGSII.

Hercules, or even the upcoming HTC Ruby is quite a beast. It's pretty much a white supped up Sensation.
Do you think LG will release ice cream sandwich update for g2x or the awesome devs will be the saviors? XD

Wish people who have no idea what they are talking about would not say anything. Just a couple of days ago lg said they are evaluating ics to decide whether to bring it to the g2x and that no decision has been made as of yet.

No body but the people at LG know if we will get ICS. The Dev's here will do their best for us but, without drivers from Nvidia we will not get the dual core support.
As I'm sure many of you know Rockstar announced that they will be bringing Grand Theft Auto 3 to select Android and iOS devices to celebrate the game's 10 year anniversary. On the list of supported devices it mentions the "Optimus 2X" but it doesn't mention the G2X. Can we assume that we'll see the game on the G2X considering it's such a close cousin to the Optimus 2X? I'm curious what you guys think or if you have any evidence that might suggest one way or the other.
I really hope we have the option to buy this game the day it's released so I can relive some childhood memories and I want to if (or how much) of the game has been toned down to work on a phone.

But it's not like we haven't seen different things going on with the phones although they have the same hardware. The fact that the Optimus 2X uses that LG skin overlay and the G2X runs stock android. And the fact that there was talk about only one or the other getting an official ICS update.

Rockstar said they'll be giving more info on the release data sometime this month so all we know now is that it's supposed to come Fall of this year, so very soon.

Hardware is the same in which to run games.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
The only difference is the radios and how memory is partitioned. Any app that runs on one runs on the other. CPU and GPU are the same and that is all that matters.
I wasn't saying that the phone couldn't RUN it but since we don't know where the game will be downloaded from Rockstar could disallow you to download the game if you're not on a device they've agreed to put the game on.
What were the topics on the G2X that stood out for you in 2011?
Mine were laughing at another battery post..
Mine would have to be a mix between the battery posts, the early screen issue posts, and the more recent ICS rumors. The ICS ones were funny mostly because everyone was saying that LG announced ICS or the G2x when all LG said was that is was coming to the P990 (O2x).
Do I need to wipe? A question asked far too much.

Ya, 4, 5, and 7 have pretty much ruined my first smartphone experience. I waited for this phone when I decided to make my first purchase and I got hosed. My next purchase will definitely be after something has been out for a couple of months.. I went against my only rule on new tech... Watch the boards, then if necessary, wait for the 2nd manufacturing run.. LG and Nvidia have lost all of my future smartphone purchases.

Wow I see there is a lot of changes around here! More roms, ICS builds etc etc.
hatefully I gave my g2x to my brother a long time ago and I got the sensation, amaze, s2.
but to tell yall the true I miss this phone and i'm trying to find a cheap one on CL. A friend of mine just got a g2x and I havent seen a phone with the crystal resolution as the g2x is not even on my S2. I see how big this community has grown. When I left it was about dead.

480x800 is not crystal resolution. Better color than Samsung phones, that's for sure. Hate the screens on my friends' gs3.
And there are barely any new topics and almost no development anymore. Not until we get kernel sources from the Korean Optimus 2x.

I left way before ICS was announced, I used to run MIUI and it was amazing. Now I've been looking around the dev thread and there is a lot of cool roms and mods,

Are you guys still having the lack of nvidia not releasing the drivers? I kinda remember that the optimus 2x is a totally different device, and roms could not be ported. I was one of the beta test of Jboxer when he was trying to port the stock rom from the optimus 2x
everything was running fine but no data or calls
I've been here since Jan 12. Just couldn't register due to xda policy on sigining up using a cellular connection, and where i lived my g2x was my internet and hotspot. Lol

Yep still stuck. We won't get stock P990 port, but Cyanogenmod can use the drivers and then people will make kangs from that.

Trade me phones I just got a new g2x from asurion like 2 weeks ago after my wife left the old one on top of the car and it got ran over and horribly mangled. Sd card was still good though!
What's wrong with the sensation? I have planning to sell my g2x and buy a sensation with the money. no ics on the g2x is annoying me lol

The sensaion is fine. I love it and the fact of bein a worldwide phones means more developers, This phone is amazing with ports of sense 4.1 and a lot but a lot of roms, and with a better camera.
but honestly the g2x is a way faster phone. its something about it that I miss it, The 3D graphics are really good on it too

i still have mine but i primaraly use it as workout/running device. swap my micro SIM into an adapter and run with it. thats all. Id be more than happy to sell it to you for super cheap if you really still want it. im talking maybe 100 shipped if that.

The G2x is one of the best looking Android devices in my opinion. It's a simple yet elegant design. Most phones look like toys now.

After my G2x decided to go for a swim, I got the Amaze as a insurance replacement and haven't looked back. I got the G2x the day it launched and from day one, that POS would FC 2-3 times a day - every day. After 3 trade-ins I officially rated the G2x the worse Android device ever made or ever will be made. Here's to a phone I could never miss. :victory:
