(MOD) CM7 / BOCA RC1 - Smooth scroll mod - Galaxy Tab Themes and Apps

Smooth scroll mod
- Some android applications have some lag when they scroll.
I found in logcat that garbage collector is working to much when I do some scroll in application.
I googled about it and found the 'scrollingcache' function inside android making problem.
Some application developers recommend disable 'scrollingcache' in app's internal config.
But not all applications have disabled scrollingcache.
So the mod I'll do will disable the scrollingcache throughout the Android OS.
All apps will have no problem with scrollingcache.
I've had scrolling improvements with facebook, playerpro, poweramp, gallery apps , etc.

Based on the thread by AndroidON ive cooked a framework.jar with the ScrollingCache disabled for CM7.

That's great, maybe you can add my framework.jar to your first post.
This is really a nice mod and i think it shouldn't belong to this section. I've already requested mod to move this to android development thread. Maybe you can add more info in your first post so that this will get moved.

I was a bit worried with the first reboot taking ages but your framework works (and the second reboot was completed in a normal time)
Not sure I have seen much difference in scrolling smoothness. Given the fact BOCA is super fast it's probably hard to notice

Nice, thanks for the headsup. That guy is a genius. Works really well. I used to experience lag when I scroll in Root Explorer with icon view. Now zero lag after applying his mod.
Created one for BOCA RC1 here. Don't know if it's the same for as the framework.jar in cm7 so I did one for just in case.
1. Copy framework.jar to sdcard.
2. Use root explorer (or any other file manager with root excess) to move the file.
3. Paste the file in /system/framework
4. change the permissions accordingly shown in this screenshot: http://limepic.com/img/screen201112201620.png
5. reboot
6. profit.

Good work!
Also
Requesting permission to add this to next Boca release

dizgustipated would you possibly able to test this mod with movie playback, read some have issues with playback after applying this..
Ive tested this with online player and I have not noticed any lags yet..

Works brilliantly

Then patch yourself, it's really simple.
I posted a framework.jar for patch #1 on Boca thread

Does this replace the old framework?
I'm running CM7.1.0, am I supposed to do something like rename the old framework to "framework.OLD" and put the new one in it's place?

If you are using a modified kernel, why do you mention the camera being linked to the gallery? Does this kernel have working cameras?
Will let you know how it goes when download link is up
How did you modify rosie to work with jit? Last i knew all sense related widgets and rosie had a incompatible method in them, hence th crash when you made a swipeing motion

I'm pretty sure any 'modified' kernels will break the camera, however this us not the first ROM to make the same claim. I think the OP is saying that the way the kernel does certain things has been tweaked on this ROM, but not the kernel itself (hence the working camera).

Sense wiith JIT and a working camera? Holy crap this ROM will set the bar high for any others to follow LOL Can't wait to try it.
yeh im kinda lost on your wording. so this will work with HTC sense?
if so then congrats man you have committed a first for sense users. and please pm if this is true. i would love to know what you did to enable this.

What is the reason for Evo getting 10 in linpack with JIT, whereas N1 gets over 40?
Omg thank you for this rom! Not only does sense work with JIT, but this is the first rom where I can run the 30 fps kernel and still charge my phone!

Trying this rom out right now, will report back with results and my opinion. ( not that it matters!)
Awesome Rom I have no idea how you pulled this off by I did notice to small bugs the lil slider thing from stock Rosie is still present and it doesn't appear to of flashed any type of music apk not also o sense but other thing that great job thing runs very smooth
I noticed there was no music app also. I opened up another zipped rom from astro, went into system/app and reinstalled the music app. Works fine. I enable JIT but im still getting around 6.7 mflops. Anyway to tell if JIT is actually enabled?
so cool!~thank u for job!!

Tested it at 1.2 OC with stock voltages and went to 10 different sites including youtube with no lockups. Honestly seems to run smooth.
Not saying a lockup cant happen but did not on me.
Just a suggestion. You might wanna rename the file for version delineation.
i.e. Dark&Sinister1.1.zip or something. I know 1.0 was EagleBlood.zip.

Guys I don't have time to re-theme this for each users taste. If you don't like the style then either redo it or don't use it. Sorry if that is rude but I am one person.

I agree, please continue to work on development and theme it as you like. We can change it on our own, using themes or metamorph.
PS. Random theme question: Where r the notification dropdown images located? Im used to Samsung's Touchwiz, which keeps them in /system/framework/twframework-res.apk but I know that file doesnt exist for "stock" builds? Are they in framework-res.apk or SystemUI.apk?
Thanks!

I am really sorry for not uploading the screenshots but i will do it positively
Till that time i hope that other members of galaxy sl community will try this rom and comment on battery life and performance.

howz battery drain??
Stupid IMHO and not sense,
if everyone will make CROM with "some" tweak without fix or do anything but simply copy and paste, this forum will fail, like XXKPQ, this is stupid fork every rom in 50 custom rom all like and only different themed,
your rom is different from vurrut's aokp ( only man that compile from source, it's right ) only for compass app and sound:
Code:
Vurrut Kernel included
Compass // it's difference
Apex launcher // vurrut's build has
Usb mass storage app // vurrut's build has
Solid Explorer // vurrut's build has
Awesome Build prop tweaks to improve performance // in ics tweaks are less effective but this is simple edit file text
Galaxy S3 awesome sounds // vurrut hasn't
New CM9 Music Apollo (Forgot to inlcude . Link given) // Vurrut forgot to include
Microphone Fix included
Youtube Lag fix
this is not critical, but observation, like xxkpq, what's the sense to fork 5 times same rom with same bug? everywanna will be a xda cooker?
xda has many cooker, but none of them develop

Correct me if I am wrong but you have picked UT36104's AOKP ROM and added a few apps, tweaks and few Sounds. Right ?
I always encourage new things and innovations and what you did is also appreciable except of the fact that you did not give enough Credit where it is rightly due. Just one glance in /system/app and you know it is UT's ROM. Write in OP that it is based on his ROM and give due credit.
I appreciate that you took the pain to bring in some optimizations which is the most important and yet most ignored. Although I failed to see how those build.prop lines would affect battery Plz explain. Thanks !
Good Luck !
Edit 1 : Did not boot
Edit 2 : Check your updater script again. My humble suggestion is remove the link and upload new zip with correct updater-script. ROM instal script is not that easy
many thanks for ur efforts and for the other developpers too, the rom is awesome!
unfortuntly i've an issue with the external sd card : the media files stored in mnt/emmc don't appear in the music or gallery app. the same thing happens with other apps picked from the market (mx video player, musixmatch...) but i can see the files in astro manager!
i googled it and found some solutions : full wipe, reflash the rom, look for and delete .nomedia files, clearing data for "Media Storage app" and rescan (cm wiki) and no one of those propositions worked for me
ps : i've got the same problem with cm9
any suggestion ?
Edit : problem solved by retring the solution given in the wiki.
thank u

[CM7] Best Settings for best battery and performance

Hi !
I think the cm7 thread is really confusing so i decided to make this thread.
Firtst of all I was using Cm9 aokp so ics based roms but in comparison with cm7 the battery life in ics is poor and i think cm7 is a bit smoother.
For more infos refer to this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492165
Original development thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639421
Here link to latest cm7 build (cm7fixed2.1) : a problem with this version is that the video recorder doesn't work
http://www.mediafire.com/?yo3r1n07l96y3x5
Link to cm7 fixed 2 working video recorder
http://www.mediafire.com/?v0mu87445leme99
Here link to the gapps package:
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Proper guide for a clean install:
1.Dowload cm7 and gapps
2.Place cm7 and gapps on your sd card
3.Go into cwm recovery ( You need to use cwm by arco or twrp)
here is a link to arcos cwm just flah i via odin as one package http://www.mediafire.com/?jg0jjdg8amjlj3b
4.So when you have cwm by arco. Boot into cwm and make a nandroid backup just to be sure.
5.now go to mounts and storage and format system
6.wipe data/cache/dalvik cache
7.install cm7
8.wipe data/cache/dalvik cache
9.install gapps
10. wipe data/cache/dalvik cache
11. fix permissions
12. reboot and enjoy
TO GET THE VIDEO RECORDER WORKING use version cm7 fixed 2 to and follow instrutions in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26992126&postcount=624
So if you want to use skyhigh kernel go with this version by broodblank http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wwqyf46k37xdldz
For best performance and battery and lag free usage dowload antutu cpu master set governor to smartassV2, min freq 245 mhz, max freq 1400 mhz and I/O scheduler to sio
Then go to adw settings-> screen preferences -> set desktop scrolling speed at around 500 and desktop overshoot to 39
Also you can set the ammount of homescreen to 3. It may sounds weired but the wallaper scrolling is so the smoothest.
So now you have lag free smooth rom !
if you want ics style just dowload this and apply it over the theme chooser https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zb25ueS50aGVtZS5pY3MiXQ..
In adw settings go to UI settings and sett main dock style to 5 icons for ics style
you can also apply this theme for adw launcher https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImtvdi50aGVtZS5pY3MiXQ..
for the ics lockscreen go to settings-> cyanogenmod-> Lockscreen-> style options -> lockscreen style -> ring
then scroll down to ring-lock-style-> holo style
then scroll down to minimal ring style and check it
done !
or use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tb2JpbnQubG9ja2VyIl0.
After that go to CyanogenMod Settings again and scroll down to performance and uncheck dithering and check 16-bit transperency also check allow purging of assets.
If you're having problems disable 16-bit transperency .
Due to the fact that our devices has a amoled screen i would recommend using a black background this also saves battery.
To save even more battery dissable auto sync apps. They eat your battery.
Here's an app for profiling so you can sett a profile for day and night and it will automaticly turn on flight mode for example. very usefull there also a bunch of other settings.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsImNvbS5hbnR1dHUucGhvbmVwcm9maWxlZnJlZSJd
So now you have the fastest most battery friendly ics looking rom availabel ! In my opinion !
Have fun !
Any questions ?
You are doing this at your own risk !
If i helped you please press the thanks button

I think there is no use of this as the CM7 thread seems proper ... all download details are in the OP ... now newbies will start asking for bugs etc which will create spam ... so no use ...
yeah hmm i think your're right but i just wanted to show that cm7 is soo much better than ics !

This is not a reason that will make that GB is better. Many points differ.

Of course for me it is a long batery life and smoothness the things that make a rom good. Nearly everything works so no reason why ics should be better. My opinion.

[ROM]elementaryUX 1.8

elementaryUX
This is elementaryUX, a ROM that focuses on creating the best user experience for our phones, while mantaining a fancy look.
I always liked MIUI for its light UI, but MIUI's framework is too heavy for our computing power. So I took the best ICS ROM for our device and created my own ROM with light UI.
This ROM is based on Erikcas CM9.2 with the following additional features:
1.8
Full GPU rendering
[*]Fixed xposed installation permissions
[*]Removed network in-out arrow icons to save some CPU cycles on status-bar rendering
[*]New LowMemoryKiller configuration that drastically improves multitasking
1.7
New Adaptive Overclock feature
[*]Fully functional LowMemoryKiller from 3.4 kernel
[*]LZ4 compression for ZRam, kernel and ramdisk
[*]New xposed installation method (see "Tips" below)
[*]Greenify and MinMinGuard modules included
[*]Revised some UI elements
Hopefully fixed accelerometer (I don't own the device, I can't test this)
1.6
Fixed camera
[*]Fixed accelerometer
[*]Fixed multitouch
1.5
Keep maximum entropy with Haveged, frandom and erandom modules
[*]Fix Phone.apk FC when changing language
[*]Add Shuttle Music Player
[*]Update Touchpal X and MiFile Explorer
1.4
Implemented Dynamic cache pressure and writeback parameters
[*]Added a NoSweep version for whoever doesn't need Sweep2Wake, DoubleTap2Wake etc.
[*]Fixed in-call screen UI for the light themes
1.3
Consolidated Flat-style theming
[*]Improved multitasking
[*]Fixed speaker noise problem
1.2
Brightness slider inside the notification panel
[*]New light theme with desaturated green accents
[*]Revised Clair theme
[*]New system theme based on Gem Flat by xIC-MACIx
[*]Screen off Fade-out animation (turn off CRT animation if you want to see this)
[*]Global SwipeBack feature (swipe left from the right side of the action bar)
[*]Dynamic Overclock
[*]Customized Zeam launcher as default
[*]iOS7-styled statusbar
1.0
elementaryKernel Custom Version
[*]Fixed low in-call volume
[*]Fixed audio routing (thank Venkatesh for both of these fixes)
[*]Blackberry 10 lockscreen
[*]21-step media volume
[*]Dark and Light proprietary UI
[*]Fully LDPI resized
[*]Maximum PNG optimization of all the apps
[*]System clean-up
[*]iOS7 Ringtones/Notifications
[*]Touchpal X Keyboard with iOS7 theme (can be applied inside Touchpal settings)
[*]Insecure Superuser binary
[*]Xposed framework preinstalled
[*]CM11 bootanimation
[*]Custom framework animations

What is Adaptive Overclock?
If the max frequency is higher then 600 MHz, the CPU will be allowed to use that frequency only in extreme cases, when it is actually needed. (e.g. gaming, surfing internet, heavy multitasking)
This feature works only with the Wheatley governor.
Do you think that USB Mass Storage doesn't work? Well you're wrong..
Go to Settings -> Storage, press Menu button, go to USB Computer Connection and tick Mass Storage.
Tips:
To use the Light UI go to Settings -> Themes and apply Elementary or Clair theme
[*]To install xposed framework:
Reboot
Open Terminal Emulator
Type su and press enter
Type xposed and press enter
Reboot
Open Xposed and configure your modules
[*]Use Greenify and its experimental features to maintain performance over time
[*]Use MinMinGuard Xposed module to get rid of ads
[*]If you use sd-ext, don't move Dalvik Cache or App Data to sd, it will slow down your phone (note: int2ext does this, better use 40a2sd script)
[*]A2SD flashable zip
[*]Don't use any Performance pack, mod, flashable zip whatsoever. What they mostly do is tweak the kernel values, which I already did before compiling the kernel

This looks nice, been messing with allot of the ROM's that have been added since my last visit over a year ago and it's great to see you guys are still supporting our Fit, thanks for all your time and effort guys.
I seem to having a few bugs with this ROM, camera is not working, the fonts seem a bit to small and blurred, setting to large looks better but then they are to large, screen sensitivity seems pretty bad as well, lots of inputs are not registered, also the gyro seems off, the orientation keeps changing to landscape when help in portrait, also the home screen launch bar icons look too small like they are using the wrong dpi.

However, all in all this is a great Rom
The thing I hate the most is the keyboard... I can't see what I'm typing... I'll give it a try.
Good work Dev.

Ok, I'll try to fix those in the next release, probably later today. If someone could provide me a full logcat, it would be awesome.

Fain, numa' peste romani dau
Translate:
Cool, I see there are a lot of romanians around here.
Well the keyboard can be resized. Play with the settings and you'll see that it's the best keyboard for our low-ram device that still holds a very good prediction system. Even for Romanian.

Hey, NO ETAs. Forum rules. ) :sly:
You're right about the keyboard... Once you mess around with settings a bit it's very helpful.
I've tried installing third party camera apps but still doesn't help. I'm getting "camera is being used by another program". It's not a big issue anyway.
This really is the snappiest CM based ROM I've tried. Really nice work dev. I'll send you a tzuica when I'm in Iasi.

Beside the above bugs, there is one issue if you could fix in the next build.
The ROM infos are all set for tass and some apps recognize the device as tass instead of beni.
PS: Multam pentru suport-ul tau catre fit, tine-o tot asa ca faci treaba buna

Thanks for the logcat, but from what I see, your xposed framework is already installed and fully functionable. I need a logcat from someone who doesn't have the framework installed.

Ok, this is exactly what I expected. The xposed app_process returns an error because it can't find the XposedBridge, jar. That's how it's supposed to happen because that file appears only after the xposed apk is extracted inside the /data partition.
So at the second boot the app_process binary should find XposedBridge.jar and that's it.. xposed is installed automatically. Can you provide me a logcat of a second boot? Or whatever other boot instead of the first, where you didn't try to install the framework by pressing the Install/Update button.
BUG :Sensor Rotation locked, can't move ...
After every time I flash this rom (sweep version), the third reboot always gives me a bootloop.
I tested it without touching anything, just rebooting it thrice ends up in a bootloop. :/
I really liked this rom very much, no lag or glitches except for the aforementioned and rotation
