HI senotrius

group link http://groups.google.com/group/wikipedia-for-android

Dark Theme feature coming soon~~

Good app, my wants/suggestions.
-provide a "near me" option to search wikipedia pages near my current location. Love this function when traveling.
-Queue mode. Maybe long press of a link within an article adds to your reading list. Or maybe long press opens article in new tab. This is useful when reading pages and coming across articles you want to read later, but allows you to continue reading current article without having to navigate to the new article.
-save offline pages to sdcard.
As far as I know none of the wikipedia apps have all of these features. It would be nice to get down to one Wiki app on my phone. Thanks for the great app!

I made a working fork of the official Wikipedia for my Wiki but I'm not able to give it the holo style. (Phonegap )
Would you mind to open source your app or pm me the source code ?

Personal Notes
- I usually let a bunch of feeds queue up and listen to them while going to work/school.
- The UI could probably use improvement, but the purpose of the app is to allow you to not look at your phone/computer to get your RSS news.
- The TTS is robotic, but it is the built-in voice, so I can't do much about that.
- I try to fix bugs I find as soon as possible if I can in my free time.
Feedback
I welcome any feedback for improving the app.
Please post requests/problems/comments here.
Enjoy!
UPDATE!
- FeedSpeak Lite now available for FREE! Enjoy!
- (Note: This version will receive less updates and features than Pro version)
Nice idea Is the app free? If not you shouldn't really post it on this site.
Thanks!
Sorry, the app isn't free ($0.99).
Please forgive my posting of it here.
A 'lite' version for Free is in the works though...

Wow. Thanks!
The free version is really just a fork of the Pro version, starting at v1.9.6. It simply has features disabled, and it will not get as much attention for updates that the Pro version will.
Here is a list of differences:
Free
No article/summary topic filtering
Fixed to fetch 100 articles at one time
Cannot speak article summaries, just titles
Less likely to receive new updates
Pro
Filter out and skip articles with key words
Can control how many articles [40-260] to fetch at once
Can speak article titles and/or summaries
Updated with new features by request (if possible)
I hope this helps!

Some day i would like to see this on WM
Man i would wish this for WM HD2 looks F* brilliant.
Or my next phone must be a Android:S
Will try it out (June 23rd)
Won't get an Android till June 23rd. AT&T Captivate launches 18th, but won't be home to buy it. Will let you know how it goes and compares to a typical visual reader like NewsRob.
Hi everyone, thanks for the interest!

I hope you enjoy the app! FeedSpeak isn't meant to replace a visual reader, and NewsRob is probably the best visual one, but it comes in handy when you want to listen to stuff while doing other things.

[app]Maxthon Mobile Browser - v1.1.4 - thanks XDAers for all the great suggestions!!!

First of all, I'd like to thank all the people in here who have tried out our previous version and given us suggestions. The suggestions/comments are extremely useful and valuable. I believe if our app will NOT achieve any success if we do not pay very very close attention to our users.

Hope there was an option that allow users play only 1 Flash content on heavy Flash Page like firefox add-on: flashblock, it's dissable all flash content and when you want to see it, just click on it.
working great so far. wish u can change the color of that highlight that comes up when u move your finger along the screen.
@moisesdc650, if we get enough requests, we'll be able to change the color...I just want to be honest with you... =) In the meanwhile, would you tell me what color you like? ^_^
can you just remove ALL the chinese affiliated links like 3g.qq.com, baidu etc from the address bar?
it clutters and looks very unprofessional.
btw, why would the browser need to have permission to take pictures?
@mystifiyer, thanks for your feedback, the suggested Chinese links will be removed no later than the next release, which is scheduled to be early March. I am working hard to see if we can remove them early and publish another version before next release.
The picture taking feature is one of our very unique features, which allows you to take a picture and save it as your browser avatar, and sync it to your desktop browser. Some users dont find it useful, while many of them like it. Sorry for the confusion, and I hope you can understand our rationale behind it. =)
I'm falling in love with this browse
@ruhmu, thanks....=)
You guys just earned yourself the spot as my default browser. Glad I could help you. Just curious if you could possibly try to improve startup times? It isn't a big deal and it is hard to measure because of the way that android manages tasks but it seems to be a little slow on the initial startup.

Bug Report!
I was browsing a news site and had opened a few tabs (I think 5 were open) and one of them was a review on an app, so I opened Market to try it out. I searched it and hit install, and then switched over to Maxthon to finish reading while it downloaded. Instead of having my tabs open like I left it, it showed the black screen as if I had killed it and it was restarting (I guess the system must've killed it) but then it started into my RSS feeds list and is stuck there now. If I hit the back button on my phone or in the app it goes back to the market instead of going back into the browser.
/edit: I opened it with the icon instead of the task switcher and it opened to my tabs like I had them. So it only gets locked in the RSS reader screen if I try to switch tasks.

Maxthon: You mentioned that Maxthon installs into sdcard if it's 2.2 or higher? But I supposed not.
From the above screenshot, you see that Maxthon is still in my phone memory taking up 3.92MB. A check in my Applications setting also show Maxthon is in phone memory.
If an app is in sdcard, it should look like this...
Notice Miren Browser uses 2.14MB, but that's in my sdcard, so I'm fine.
Maybe you can look into moving Maxthon data into sdcard too?

[App] [2.2+] CopySearch

Hi all,
First thank you every one for the great stuff that we can found here on xda.
I just published myself an app on Google play called CopySearch. Basically, it is like the google search app, but with more features. The main one is that you can add really easily your own search sources: just give a name, CopySearch will find what is the site you want and create a custom search engine for you.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.transparence.code.copysearch.free
Below is the Google Play description.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Copy text from everywhere and search for it wherever you want
Uses cases:
Surfing on the web, find something on which you want to know more, or want its translation, or location ? Just copy the text, quick launch CopySearch through notification bar or hardware search button, and query Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Google Translate, Google Map or what ever site you want.
Features:
-quick access in notification bar
-launch with long press on hardware search button
-add search sources really easily
-history of your copied texts and search queries
-search by date
Details:
As soon as you copy a text in an application, by long pressing on it, this text becomes available for search queries in CopySearch. You can see it in the notification bar.
Select which sources you want from both the installed apps that are searchable and from your custom sources.
Add custom sources easily. First give a name to the new source. CopySearch will automaticaly find the URL of the corresponding site and its icon. That's it. You can edit the found URL if it is not the one you expect.
You can choose to display directly the best match of your query in your custom sources or to display a list of results.
Preset sources:
Google, Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Google Map, Google Translate, IMDb, YouTube, Google Shopping, Google Books, Google News, Amazon.
How it works:
While creating a custom source, CopySearch finds the URL of the site by querying in background Google web search engine.
CopySearch finds your target site and its icon using Google and the keyword "site:".
The "Feeling Lucky" feature is the one of Google.
CopySearch uses an internet connection only while editing custom search sources. The rest of the time, CopySearch only creates an URL corresponding to your query and your target, then launches your web browser with this URL. CopySearch does not make search itself.
CopySearch only records a small history of your queries and copied texts (15 items). This is useful when the results of your first queries are not good enough and you want to refine the results. This history is stored on your device only and can be cleaned whenever you want.
Get it here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.transparence.code.copysearch.free
Update:
-search by date
-notification icon can be disabled
Hi.
I like the app, but is there a way to reorder the search sources? Thanks.
Not currently, but maybe in a future release.
very good app , thanks
Ok thanks. It could be nice for people with a small screen device. I'd like not to scroll down to get wikipedia. (I use the official app instead of the provided one, which is at the very bottom.)
Hi. Nice work. Is it possible to have a second google source but with another language (english instead of german)?
Yes you can, by adding a new source with url:
wwwDOTgoogleDOTcom/search?hl=en
replacing dot by .

I already though about letting users change icons, but honestly, I think it's too much work for a not so important feature.

Yeah I agree, that's not really important. The idea to reorder the sources seems more useful.
Nice app! A small nifty tool that can do quite a lot!
Useful & Convenient
It's a very convenient and handy app,
Adding search suggestions may be nice too
I guess I can display suggestions made by google. I will take a look at this.
Thank you.
I just updated this thread, since I can now post links and images.

Hi,
mine works in every application.
eg : you can open chrome,adobe reader,Office applications,Chat apps,etc
just open the application->click settings icon which enables the floating Icon->Open any other application which supports copying text (all app supports that) - > Copy the word you need to know about- > click on the floating icon and you will get the meaning.
Also XDictionary needs to root the device and install Xposed Module. But Mine DO NOT require ROOT.
Will try it later, I looked at XDictionary, but I don't want to install Xposed .
Xposed Module
Hello again,

Maybe you should rethink title and app name: Define - Offline Dictionary
As it is deceiving, since your app does search online, if only no match found
It would be great if you have a version which does not have network permissions and does not search online if no match found, which will make it a true offline dictionary.
Most offline dictionaries provide a separate dictionary file which you can download separately, which allows for custom dictionary sets(https://code.google.com/p/quickdic-dictionary/wiki/BuildDictionary),
and improvements to database without affecting app itself
Maybe look at: https://code.google.com/p/quickdic-dictionary/
It is open source.

[CLOSED]Search the web online without getting tracked - and really fast.

Hey guys,
I've developed an app called Snap Search as an effort to promote privacy in online searches - you can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cybersky.snapsearch
Searching the web should be an easy task. It should also be secure and private. Nobody likes getting tracked through their searches, nobody likes getting shopping or movie recommendations based on their last search online. There's a fool proof, 100% secure way to escape it now - Use Snap Search.
Snap Search wants to provide the quickest way to search through your favourite websites in the easiest manner possible.
Snap Search is incredibly simple:
Step 1) Select your website ✓
Step 2) Enter your desired search term/keywords ✓
Step 3) TADA ! Browse through the search results in the most secure way possible. ✓

Oh that is a good idea!
I have added the ability to create widgets for the home screen. Wasn't sure if this would be needed as well. Do you feel more people will use it? Sounds like a nice thing to have.
Hey Rajat great app! Love the idea.
Can you make the app as a browser provider so that any link we click online unintentionally or want to search something private( ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ), It would not go to our search history and stay private.
Also, you can make the homescreen more clean looking by moving the app settings/preferences to a 3 dot menu.
Also make the toolbars a bit smaller. They look too big on my device.
Good Luck!

Hey thanks so much for the feedback, really appreciate it.
Will definitely include your suggestions as much as possible in this update - which should be out soon. Loved the browser provider idea!
Hey guys,
An update for Snap Search is out with lots of improvements!
If you haven't tried it already - do try it now - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cybersky.snapsearch
If you have, would love some feedback on how to improve it even more
A sweet new update is now live on the store!
Some of the new changes and improvements are:
- Support for quick search in 5 new websites (Baidu, eBay, Reddit, LinkedIn and IMDb)
- Full screen browsing
- Few bugs squashed

I would definitely do it. I love JustSearch so i would consider shufting to Yours completely for sure.
JustSearch works as a replacement of Google assistant.
