anyone else experience this before? - General Questions and Answers

so my go launcher ex suddenly froze up, and the phone randomly restarted itself. then i just left it and went to go watch xmen 3
i come back almost 2 and a half hours later, and the phone's still on the boot screen, and then i take out battery and restart and i come back to 7% battery life. (was at over 50%)
weird.
not the first time go launcher's frozen up on me.
other times, it says (usually) my keyboard (swype) is not responding so i force close and then soon after it says go launcher not responding so i force close. and then my phone goes back in time and launchers some of the apps i previously used. (ie: it would start up asphalt 6 which i was playing earlier in the day, and after i exit, it would start another app that i used).
or other times, it just restarts itself when i exit out of an app.
(i exit out of asphalt6 and go launcher freezes then restarts)
im not rooted/modded/anything, on stock 2.3.6 nexus s i9020a patiently waiting for ics :/

Yes, it seems to happen a lot. Sometimes on my G2 and a lot on my vibrant.

[Q] Force close on start up.

I have a stock captivate running 2.2. Every time I reboot my phone it vibrates like something is force closing but no dialog pops up. Is this normal? If not how can I determine what is force closing. It takes about 5 min to become usable after being turned on.
The only other problem I have is the crappy GPS and it is kinda laggy.
Is it factory stock 2.2 or for you install stock 2.2
If so possibly something when wrong on the install, try it again
Stock is most likely going to have crappy GPS and lag so that's sadly normal

Can't say what app is FC on you but of I were you I would backup my apps with titanium backup and would flash the stock or custom rom again then restore.Usually by then problem gets resolved 99% Just be sure when in tibu restore apps only never restore with data and also don't restore sytem apps only user apps.
Rom: Continuum 4.1
Kernel: Onix #7
Modem: jk4
Theme: Crysis Revolution
Try a factory reset first.
reboot or after/while shutdown process? mines vibrates everytime I shutdown after the S galaxy logo,I think to confirm that the device is totally shutdown and vibrates in the end of shutdown process

I had the same problem and booting up took over 20+ minutes of it just vibrating every so often indicating FCs. I think I gave up and factory reset mine after it wasn't ready to use after waiting for an hour. It fixed it for me.
I think my problem was when I upgraded from Stock 2.1 to 2.2, something bad happened but I can't remember accurately what it was. I think some how my phone was in download mode when my microusb wasn't connected or something. I just remember the phone showing do not disconnect but I had cable in one had and phone in the other lol.

Force Close Issues

It seems like that the majority of the time when my phone force closes that it will always end up rebooting on its own. I rarely, if at all get a dialogue box.
The problem startet mainly on the stock browser where daily, it would freeze up, virbate once and then twice. Stay frozen for a while longer, and then virbate pattern again and then the screen goes blank. After 2 minutes or so of black screen, the lock screen shows up and it appears that the phone did a soft reboot of sorts.
In smaller cases, the Gallery did this several times ad did a game and an app.
Yes, I've switched browsers and found a gallery replacement and, they've been stable but I don't want to live with the fear of 5 minute lockups and reboots. Switching browsers and gallery is juwta band aid...I want a solution to this entire problem.
To me is sounds like a buggy rom of 2.2.1.
Anyone else encounter this? Any solutions beyond exchanging it or gasp, getting a lessor phone?

Sense forcing reload?

I have an unrooted HTC Incredible that up until recently was running Go Launcher EX. I uninstalled it because I've been having problems with the recent update and lag that was making my phone unusable. However, since I uninstalled the launcher, every time I leave an application, whether I hit the home button or back out of it, it reloads Sense. Luckily it doesn't take more than 10-15 seconds, probably because I only use 3 screens, but its annoying and makes it hard to use the phone quickly. I'm trying to use the home function as little as possible right now by using the app switcher and notification bar to get around but I'd really like full function of my phone back!
Does anyone know any fixes?

[Q] HTC Sense restarting all the time?

I've got a stock evo shift with the most recent OTA update (Android 2.3.3 Sense 2.1 Software number 2.76.651) and my Sense has been restarting ALL THE TIME. I'll be using an app, hit the home button or the back button to get to my home screen, and it'll show a white screen with the green HTC then show my home screen with a loading message for 5-10 seconds. This only started happening after updating and it's starting to get pretty annoying. Anyone else have this problem/know of a solution for it? I've tried reboots and it usually seems to make it happen less for a little while but it always starts to happen again.
Since you said Stock. Does that mean unrooted? It is a known issue on Stock Gingerbread. The Memory settings are to agressive. You can try AutoKiller Memory Optimizer to change the settings. But it will only help so much.

yup, unrooted unfortunately. waitin for the root to come out. that's pretty stupid that HTC/sprint would put that out without fixing it. devs these days

I had the same problem - got to where almost every time I switched back to the home screen from doing anything, it would have to reload. I tried disabling fast boot and it didn't do anything for me. I did a factory reset, re-downloaded the apps I wanted to keep, and that seemed to fix the problem. Very rarely happens anymore, only seems to occur when I am in the browser for a long time or playing a game for a while. Hope this helps.
I'm rooted, on the stock rom, and sense would re-load. I use Launcher Pro now, and while I still get a few reloads, the launcher refreshes much quicker than sense, and it does have widgets similar to Sense. I had paid for LP Pro last year, with my Evo, so I figure I'd use my paid app.

Nexus 5 dead?

Forenote, my N5 was running PSX v2 and Franco Kernel r13 flawlessly for weeks when this ramdomly happened.
Used my phone today just as I have for weeks on end with little to no issue until around 8 or 9 hours into my day the phone started to lag very badly. Redraws, stutter, unresponsiveness, you name it. I was surprised as this phone usually flies! So I cleared my recent apps and that seemed to help slightly, but it still was very slow. I used cache cleaner's built in ram cleaner to stop all running processes (which I never do) and it seemed like the issue was fixed. The system UI and launcher redrew and I was good to go.
Until I started to play some music in Play Music, a pop up constantly popped up that YouTube has stopped working. I didn't even use YouTube today! I tried to then open the YouTube app and it wouldn't open whatsoever. No animation no execution, just a dialog box reading, "Unfortunately, YouTube has stopped working." I went into app settings and cleared cache/data/and force stopped and the app still was misbehaving. I reinstalled the app via the play store and it still wouldn't open. The dialog box wouldn't stop popping up this whole time mind you.
I was thinking what the hell is wrong with my phone today!? Maybe a reboot would fix things. I tried rebooting and my phone got stuck at boot animation. I force shut off and rebooted into recovery, formatted cache and dalvik cache and rebooted. This time the boot animation actually froze.. I was like what the f***! I let it sit for a few minutes to see if anything would happen without any luck.
I force shut off again and now the phone won't even turn on. Not into bootloader, not normally, the thing won't even charge! So here I am with a dead phone and a $450 paperweight. I'm just so lost I have no idea what could've caused this really unusual sequence of events.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
A bad phone. Rma it
