[Q] Some programs don't work in my country - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a big problem with my Nexus S. I bought it from US but actually i live in Turkey. And some programs don't work in my country like navigation, system info widget, even original music player(ICS). What should i do to solve these annoying problems? I couldn't manage to use market enabler. Its just not working (NexusBeam_4.1.0)

You can use alternative apps instead of google's.
Navigation officially works in US and Europe as of now. There is a mod of google maps that lets you use navigation anywhere.

Brut mod is the mod he mentioned. It is available in xda.

Igo and other gps software for xperia

I have an x10 xperia and I'd like to put a GPS software with map of Romania. It is my first Android phone. I have had Symbian os9.2.
Have you tried googlemaps? Not sure if it does Navigation in Romania.. but i used it in the UK for the first time today.. and the navigation feature works very well.. and even better.. it's free.
the maps of google maps is not detalied for romanian. I found on internet mononav it's work super.
i use coPilot Live Pro giv that ago !
what about Igo
It is working on android ? if yes how actual are the maps, and maybe a hint where to find it for dowlod (android version)
Navigon for android works fine on my X10 and looks like there is maps for Romania according to theire website.

I use Copilot , Navigon and Ndrive at this moment. I think the best Gps software until now for my opinion is Navigon . The Copilot does not suport landscape and the Ndrive has small icons when you are changing the settings.

Recommend me a good navigation app?

I used to use TomTom maps on Winmo phones... but i dont think it's on Android yet?
So whats another good map/navigation app? It cant be like google maps where it relies on a net connection to download the map, it needs to have the map with the app itself like TomTom does. It takes up a load of space, but i've got a large SD card so not a problem.
I use copilot and sometimes motonav. Motonav is bit slower than copilot, both speedcams and full postcodes.

yeah there are many navigation apps e.g.
copilot
navigon
ndrive
motonav
google navigation
sygic mobile maps
iGo my Way
I've tested a lot of them and my favorites are definitely Copilot, NDrive, Google.
If you've updated Google Maps via Market, you've received this blue arrow in
the app list. And the navigation with it works like charm. Also Copilot works great.
Much more features and options, but sometimes it shows me stupid ways to drive.
The very best I think is NDrive. Fast and beautiful app and the best navigation.
So if you don't want to pay, use Google. If you are willed to pay you should
try Copilot Live or NDrive 10
+1 for CoPilot

I'm using NDrive. The maps are very complete even on remote locations. Well at least in Europe, I haven't tryed it anywhere else.
It works offline. My data connection is very costly here, I don't always get service and it drains the battery so offline was a must for me.
Google works nice except for the online thing. I haven't tryed copilot.
Thanks, i tried 3 of them... Copilot, Ndrive, and Sygic Mobile Maps...
Copilot i think is the best, the most complete and polished. Followed closely by Ndrive.
But i've not really tested them while driving yet so i'll have to see what one has the best routes...
For some reason copilot is not working properly one my phone. It's keep crashing, i am unable to download maps for uk. There are even some comments one android market regarding this application, some users say they got the same problem after last update. I will give ndrive a try, maybe itd will worki for uk.
http://www.alk.eu.com/images/copilot/laneindicator-sm.png <= does this view work for you on the x10? mine always looks very buggy (because of the big screen i guess)
Looking for Navigation application
hi guys,
For past few days I am looking for a navigation application which doesnt cost the data charges. I found one such application in Papago but not working in my Xperia X10 rooted mobile on version A.0.24.
Would appreciate if someone can help me installing a nice navigation app...

You should try MOTONAV it has resolution 854x480 fits X10 perfectly, but its kind of hard to find maps for it.
EDIT:wrong post selection, sorry!

Hello my friends,
i look for an offline navi too but for the cm7
Any idea?
Yours sincerely

You can use "Sygic" Application.. that has some awesome offline maps details..
Second is the "MyTrails" from Market for Free.. You can use its inbuilt Map downloader to download maps of your area with GMapMaker or Buy the application for 3$ and download the maps with map downloder builtin the application....
Google will help u understand
I use copilot

[Request] Can anyone Make an app to download offline maps from Google ?

Hi Guys !
I don't know if this against copyrights or not .
But can anyone make some kind of edit to the google maps app to allow offline maps for the full country ? instead of this annoying cache via Wifi !
or make other app that uses offline database of Google maps and will be great if in satellite (google Earth ) view also ...
I just keep wondering why till now google doesn't allow downloading offline maps ? even in a paid version !!!
the latest Update removed the tiny feature of downloading some offline areas .
Now it is currently unavailable for me to make any offline maps ..

I just use Navfree app and download the maps for offline by state, free and like a gps but doesn't have all the google stuff though.
I use osmand to download maps before Google maps update.. It's pretty good, open source, allows for offline navigation and free.
Download Google maps outside of Google maps is breaking copyright and Google has asked people to remove it.

HERE Maps Navigation from Play Store
GPS navigation from Maps & GPS navigation
This is really the best one, I've been using
OsmAnd and OsmAnd+
OsmAnd/OsmAnd+ are based on OpenStreetMap maps. They offer offline maps and navigation plus a whole bunch of other options for customization. You really need to check the Play Store page for the details.
I've been using it for years now. It's great.
