don't call it dead yet! ask questions to see what can be done. why are you trying passwords, and what remote wipe are you doing? I've never heard of remote wiping...
there is app on market for remote wipe, but in my point its stupid unless you have some hard personal or professional files.
http://www.samsungdive.com
It is a gone case. I left it at another side of the world before traveling by airplane.
I remote wiped my Outlook work email (was using Touchdown). It supposed to delete the email data once the apps connected to the network again.
Well, in case somebody else happens to be in the same situation, I advise to do these immediately:
1. Change your Google password - this will disconnect your phone from your Google account.
2. Change your facebook password.
3. Change your yahoo password.
4. Change every online password that you have been accessing using your mobile phone.
I will be searching for new phone soon...let the research begin....

I second this recommendation
I say go with the Sony Neo V, relatively the same spec-wise and also relatively cheap but smoother on stock and you'll get ICS next year.
if you are from india go for lg optimus 2x. full hd and support of ics

Over here the retail price is about the same price when originally Galaxy Ace was launched (RM800-RM900). A friend of mine bought Galaxy S Plus 2nd-hand also about the same price.
I thought this will be a seller, and true enough, the XDA forum section was granted way faster than when we requested for the Galaxy SL.
The biggest plus of the galaxy w is...it will be updated to ics...well, thats what samfirmware told!!

My Asus transformer was stolen today. Is there any app or way I can track it?
thanks
Todd
not unless you're really lucky.
i'm not sure, but if you get yourself another android device, active latitude to display your location, i wonder if it would cause latitude on your tab (if you even have it) to start displaying it's location.
of course, this wholy depends on your tab having google latitude (included with google maps?), have gps access, and the theif haven't done a factory reset.
I don't need a signature.

Yes there is. Go to market.android.com and install Plan B to your transformer. ( it will then email your gmail account associated with your android account once its located * very accurate aswell)do it now before the battery dies. If it works please post back!

you can install apps to your devices straight from the market on a web browser, however, i think you still have a confirmation prompt ( not too sure)
no there is no confirmation, but the thief will ge prompted that certain program has been installed.
sorry to disappoint you but honestly I would say the hope is slim... a factory reset will wipe out all the trails..
Slim ...But there is hope. The thief may not even know how to turn it on. Or it may be missplaced somewhere unattended.

plan b sends out the first one without prompting, so it's worth a shot. You only need to text it if you are pinging it more than once.
So far nothing. Tried Plan B, but maybe the thief hasn't turned it on and hooked it up to wifi. I'm hoping they or the person they sell it to does before the juice runs out of it. The morons didn't take the power supply!

I've tried Plan B on my own and it never notified me. I don't think it works over Wifi alone.
In July 2011, my Nexus S was stolen. I went to the police but they said they probably couldn't recover the device. So I just kinda let it go.
Well, a few weeks ago I found out the the phone was still connected to my Market account. This provides a bit of a security concern because I've got my credit card on my market account too, but they haven't bought anything. Just for fun, I decided to download and install Plan B to the phone, and within a few hours, I got four emails of the phone's location within 15 meters. Well, I didn't have time to bring that to the police, and that was eleven days ago. So I have a few questions:
1. I want to be able to get a more recent location because I'm afraid the police will say the location is too many days old. I know you can text "locate" or whatever to the phone but it's not my number anymore. (I know this because on my market account it says it's an AT&T phone whereas I'm on T-Mobile.)
2. Is there any way at all to remote remove the app and re install it?
3. Is there another app similar to Plan B that I can do the same thing?
4. Is there anything else I can do?
-Matthew
That really sucks. I know Lookout had an option on their site to collect the location through the internet, no phone number required. Don’t know if it's 100% sure, but it's worth a shot. Really hope you get your phone back. Good luck!

You should be able to login to your Google voice account and see which number it now forwards to. Assuming you had it on the phone and they did set it up. If not you can just text to your Google voice number and it should go through.

Hwever I find it very strange that 2 products to have the same serial #. The IMEI is not hardcoded on the device, but since they give you a brand new device, why bother to code the same IMEI?

I bought the phone from Saudi Arabia. I have the S3 version.
I am not 100% sure about this, but if I recall correctly it used to write from left to right when i bought it. <-- Not too sure about this.

the justification does not solve the problem still

I downloaded a program called morelocale2 and it allowed me to change my country to stuff outside the preinstalled countries so I set it to Canada since that's where I live but it is still the same
I have the exact same problem with my htc sensation (bought in Lebanon), when I updated to ice cream sandwich and got the note app.
I contacted htc support and I received this reply: "Kindly note that this issue has been escalated for a higher level for investigation and we would contact you the moment we receive an update."
I hope that someone knows how to fix it and thanks for the help.
"I can see how the text starting on the other side of the screen would be quite the problem. I would be glad to address this with you. In regards to this, many settings of the phone are set to what region they were manufactured for. I took one of our test One S phones and there isn't a setting in the app to change the text orientation. As a workaround for this, I'd suggest trying a third party app from Google Play store. I'd like for you to give this a shot, and if you have any further problems then let me know. In the meanwhile, I hope you have a great day!"
This is the answer I got from HTC when I told them about the problem, does any one know such app?

If it is only the notes app can you somehow uninstall/delete it and re install it or another note app from market
I rooted my phone same day I bought it, so am not familiar on how to do that stuff on non-rooted phones
There is no way to uninstall it using the normal uninstallation methods and I have not found a way to download it again. I would gladly download a diff notes app however I cannot find a semidecent one that I like

Try Evernote. HTC Notes actually syncs with Evernote anyways, which is why it asks for you to login when you turn it on for the first time. Great app, has all the features of stock Notes + a lot more.

Hi all, this is my first post in here so plz bear with me if i sound like such a newb.. so i got my HTC one S last week, after being totally bored with 4yrs of iOS.. i gotta say everythin is great.. except for the crappy Calendar, no iOS-style shake to Undo, and this little issue with Notes: it also insists on typing English characters from right to Left! Needless to say this is frustrating for sum1 who uses Notes multiple times a day.. and such a disappointment for an -almost- flawless device & OS.. No i do not think downloading a third-party application, or rooting the device is worth the hassle because i am not trying to locate a star in space, i just wanna type sum text for god's sake! come on there has to be a solution to this.. Furthermore, the iPhone 5 is coming out soon.. just sayin.. FYI i also got my device from Saudi, running ICS 4.0.3 + HTC Sense 4.0.. Cheers

Run a WWE RUU. Why did you talk about the iPhone 5? It has no relevance. The problem is where you bought the device from, which is Saudi Arabia. Arabic writes from right to left, which is why you should buy it from another country if you're from a different country.

To tell the truth, i didn't face this problem on my EVO 3D before. . . But it started when I installed the stock rom made for middle East and updated to ICS. . . I don't know but I believe if you flashed a none Middle East rom you'll get it fixed. . .
So I have that urge to buy something new and I've stumbled across the sony SW2 in my looking around and I was wondering if this would be worth it to buy? Those of you who have had one for a while, do you think I should get one?
I think it all depends on its use per the individual, it is very handy for me when I'm at work and in a meeting I can see who's calling and read messages etc and also when I'm on my motorbike also saves me having to pull out my phone to see whoa calling messages etc. I would say though if you have a Samsung phone then probably have a look at the gear

If you can get it for less than $150, that's a decent price... However, there's LG's and Moto's watches coming out this summer if you can wait a few months - but those are rumored to be around $250.

If you need a device to remote control your smartphone, then yes you should get it. If you are happy just taking your phone out of your pocket and using it, then you dont need the Sony Smartwatch 2. It is not an indepedent device. It can do almost nothing by itself, it is 99% dependent on your phone.
The best way to describe it is that it is a second screen to your smartphone. To be able to use it you must have your smartphone on you, at all times. It not autonomous working at all.
Hi all,
can this Sony SW2 keep the time by itself if I go running to the park and leave my phone at home? Just keep the time.
I know it would be more useful to take the phone in my pocket and probably try to have an Endomondo's Sports Tracker widget on the smartwatch.. does anyone knows about a good sports tracking app like Endomondo's ?
Thanks.
Sure, why not. It's only money.
I have had mine for 8 months and love it. I had not worn a watch in perhaps 20 years. (I'm a reformed pocket watch user.) If you like to know who is emailing and testing when it happens, covertly, it is great. There are other things it is great at too, but those are the #1 use. I like the color screen v.s. monochrome screens, but battery life suffers. Price is reasonable, relatively speaking, but if you are an Android user and have a little more $$, I'd wait until summer to see what the new Google based watches bring. They appear to be a step up. The only thing I'd wish for is voice transcription to reply to email or text and I believe that's coming in the Google OS watches.

Yes it can. And your SW2 comes with Runtastic, which is pretty okay for me.
Sw1 can keep time only till it has battery or has not been switched off. If you switch it off or battery finishes, you need to connect it again with your phone to get time.

Not on your Nexus it doesnt..... it doesnt have an answer call button, though theres a fix if you are rooted.
Also it has no speaker or mic so youd need a bt headset. Which can already be used to answer calls.

Naturally, I have a BT headset. I've been using them since they exist.

Note that you cannot answer from the watch, in any case, using a galaxy nexus.

Because the calling app that Sony offers to you onli offers the 'answer call' button on Sony phones. Unless you move it to the system partition, which requires root.

LOL It's a fair question, I joined this forum when I have a Qtek 2200 (made by HTC and also known under the brands XDA, O2), and after a Qtek 2020i, and used this forum just to get some informations. When this devices become obsolete I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5830 but I didn't like the Froyo GUI so I change to iOS devices that aren't supported here. But since a few months ago I become tired of it, always the same and without big changes, and planned to switch again to android that had a big improvement since froyo and its know more appealing to use.
One of the thing that I found out immediately was the different ROM's available to install, and I have been playing with them in my devices.
So it's natural that now I had reasons to post, to clear my doughts.
I don't use to write just to make number, I hope that you'll be clear.

I see in the call extension app description that "answer call" is for Xperia Only. I have a rooted HTC One M8, but I did not move the app to the system partition (I doubled checked just to be sure); however, I can answer calls with my Sony Smartwatch 2. Not sure if it is because I am rooted or not, but I wanted to pass along my experience with my phone and the call extension app in question.

I've found that the lack of a 'Call Accept' button is not a major deal breaker for the Call Extension program. Wired or BT headsets have the action button, so the SW2 is still good. PLUS, with the recent upgrades to the core program, it's perfect to setup for a 'idling watch-face' that contains the pertinent information that I need.
Remember, the watch will allow you to tuck the phone back into the pocket or holster and leave it there. I myself enjoy starting an album as I leave the house to catch my bus for work, then just use the SmartMote Extension to change the song or tweak the volume on the sly.
Oh, and with the phone settings extension I found, I can cut the phone's Wi-Fi when I leave a well, so it doesn't draw extra power looking for a connection - without going fully into the watch apps, because it's latext update puts a shortcut directly into the watch-face itself!
Yeah, I'd recommend getting this watch, if you need a new watch. Once you have it, you find reasons to have it.... (Not the least, because it reduces the need to turn on the phone every five minutes to check it.)
