Hey I'm running ARHD 4.1.9....and I wanna overclock my phone to 1.7ghz...is it safe to overclock to that without it doing more harm than good....I would think it is because seeing our Chipset is supposed to be 1.5ghz default....overclocking my phone by 200mhz won't hurt...so back to my question...if I do the OC will it be ok
Sent From My HTC Sensation 4G
I've been overclocking since faux123 came out with his 1.7 kernel and I don't get no random reboots or anything. Some people do, but it depends on your phone and how far it can be pushed! Just give it a try!

Hi,
In my experience, not all phones are created equal.
You may be one of the lucky ones who can run his phone at 1.7 GHZ,but if it doesn't work, you will soon know about it.
Bear in mind it won't constantly run at that speed.
OK well I did try the overclock and my phone ran smoother than ever while handling several tasks...1.7ghz it is!!! Thx guys

Keep it at that and see how it handles over night. If no reboots or lock ups then you should be set.

I am running miui and I have been wanting to clock my phone slightly for some time but no matter what kernel I use my phone crashes soon after I apply settings. It doesn't matter if I am clocking it any where between 1.2 or 1.5. I'm not sure if I am doing things wrong or what is going on. But I would really like to get it working. I will do my best to provide any info you need. please help me!

Some phones just don't like overclocking or underclocking I guess. Can I ask why are you wanting to overclock? I have found that overclocking is overrated. You really will not see much of a difference especially if you are use such a lite rom like cm7 or miui. When I first flashed my first rom I had a slight moment of...idiocy where all I cared about was to see how fast my quad score would go. Just fyi for future, quad scores are all crap they mean nothing lollll.
I got your 10 char right here
I had thought that it was my phone but I the first kennel I got that came with miui months back clocked my phone fine. Before I knew it the kernel was changed and every one I try my phone crashes. I just felt like for the little time before my phone crashes it seems to run everything smoother. Maybe i'm just convincing myself that. I partly wanted to figure out why my phone was crashing and learn something. I guess I can live with it not being clocked

I was told that chacha was overclocked from 600 to 800, but could it be downclock back to 600 physically opposite to the temperary method by softwares like setcpu?
Sent from my HTC A810e
SetCPU doesn't list 600Mhz in the available frequencies unfortunately, so it's gonna require a custom kernel to have that speed back
Yes, u r right. Buy there seems no rom can used
Sent from my HTC A810e
Btw, how htc overclocked the cpu at factoy? By rom, or kernal, or hardware?
Sent from my HTC A810e
By kernel.
hi, alex, i notice u r active in cm7 rom thread, does cm7 also uses 800 kernel? Tks

I'm active in all forums of this section .
CM7 and SuperOSR use the same kernel. SetCPU steps: 480 and 800. But as far as I know, the first time you install the rom your CPU will be set to 600; I'm not sure about this though.
Haha, i noticed that. As for the kernel, any possibility customized for 600 will appear for chacha?

Customized kernel means the phone is popular (like the Desire, for example; or Galaxi S) and someone would take the kernel and "optimize" it. I quoted optimized because in some cases they actually break things up and your battery is drained in 2 hours or other similar problems.
Anyways, a custom kernel for ChaCha would most likely be made by one of us.
I apologize for any mistakes, I am drunk. It's 04:14 (AM) here. I've been drinking. Therefore I am drunk.
Ha, how much u can drink for being drunk? Must be not easy for u .
I am really waiting for the kernel. Seems long time needed. I have searched kernel compiling. The tutorials took much time away from me. And i found that is beyond my love. Sad!!!!

Could you previously overclock to 1836 without problems? I only ask as that clock for me way back was too much.Wondered if he had cracked the "only for some devices"
I was made aware that it is not 2.2ghz and is actually 1.78ghz with false identification on actual speed, trip has been made aware of this whether he did it intentially or by accident.

so what exactly does this do for the performance of your phone? Is it just apps opening up faster and games a little better?
I understand the performance gains in cpu overclocking for computers in that you get faster encoding for videos, maybe a few more fps in gaming etc but how noticeable is doing an overclock for your phone?
Is it more of a just because you can or is there a real benefit to the user that they can notice?
A 30% overclock on your PC might give you 10-15% better performance but does that equate to similar improvements with a moving to 1.5 or 1.78ghz on your phone?

why stop at 5? carry a bottle of Liquid Nitrogen with you and the sky is the limit !!
Even IF it isn't 2.2 (which surprises me) it is INCREDIBLY snappy and faster than when I was running sebastianFM's 1.728 or whatever and benchmarks are pretty damn high

Eh, not amazed but it's decent I guess... Coming from the Glacier we have a kernel capable of 2.1GHz but I never go above 1.4 anyway. Clock speed isn't everything.

It's a balance there is only so much you can get out of the CPU in anything once it passes the threshold you get less from it more heat less life we are at 1.2 default I would say after 2.0 we won't get much more but a dead battery is 3 hrs I got mine at 1.1 I am good with battery vs power consumption

He just said it...the battery consumption is much better. I don't run any apps/games which need the higher clock rates. So I also underclocked to 1.1 Ghz and I'm very happy with it.
Yes I saw this kernel! This is awesome! But my phone will fry i think

so going from 1.2 down to 1.1 improved battery life?? By how long?
A lot but I have set cpu and can jump to 1.7 easy
You tell me as of now what app needs more then 1.1 1.2 ??? Once phone boots up the phone don't need more then that

Overclocking implies increasing the CPU clock speed (more cycles per second).
Overclocking helps increase performance my overloading the processor thus, everything runs faster.
This can however cause phone hardware to ware out faster and cause overheating problems also.
our cpu can handle 1.5 ghz of clock speed. by default is set at 1.2.
the overclock is speed up the cpu above the maximum speed (es 1.7, the maximum stable clock we reached IMHO)
obviously high speed means less the battery, more heating and you risk to damage the cpu, because the frequency is above the max. limit
I personally keep it at 1.2ghz for daily use and at 1.5ghz for gaming, you should find you settings...
take a look to the governors, too. they are very important to control your device's response and speed. search for a specific guide to understand better
thanx allot to the both of you!!! helped me out heaps. Ill play around with it

Not too much. 1.2-1.6 is the safe range at most lower 1.7
Don't use an app.Do it naturally with a kernel use a faux v006.

ok can u post a link so i can download??? thanx
Make sure the kernel is compatiable with your Rom and firmware! You can find then either in Android development, or themes and apps. Try development first. Good luck! remember over clocking can be more of a battery drain, just so you are aware of that. Have fun!

Google faux kernels and you will find them o.k.

I would not recommend using setCpu it will not give u the best performance.
Use a kernel which is already overclocked and it will be much better. I recommend faux or bricked with that rom.

Hello sensation user.
I wonder how to get temp use internet, game? I'm stressed by using sensation. Heat issue. I checked my sensation temp is 50~60 c. Vey hot. Is My sensation have hardware issue? Or normal? I think sensation is very hoter than other phones. Now my fingers skin is alittle damaged by heating sensation. Sensation is good device. But what can i fix this problem?

u can do these things
reduce the frequency to 972 for both cores
under volt as much as u can
and last thing put ur sensation in frount of an ac/fan

What's your kernel and ROM? you might want to change your kernel and see if that helps to cool your phone a little bit.
