so basically im screwed on getting back to stock rom?
Is the USB cable you are using the one that came with your Infuse? If not use the one that came with your Infuse. Some aftetmarket USB cables wont work for data, they only work as a charger.

i dont have it, but iv used many USB cables
I would bet that your problem is the USB cable itself. Again it's just my 2¢ . I have used one from an old Blackberry and one from an HTC inspire .. both work fine . I also bought a USB cable from ATT and all it did was charge the phone...but would not allow my PCs to communicate with the Infuse.

Ya, so i tried using a Samsung cable and it didn't work. So I borrowed my dads phone and did a backup on the stock rom with recovery and i then tried flashing it on my phone. Know when i turn it on i cant get past the Samsung screen. so i cant even try getting into recovery holding the bottom volume button down. I think im toast, i guess ill try calling Samsung now.
You have to hold all three buttons until you see the Samsung logo, to get into recovery.

I say if your under warranty if there's nothing you can do is completely brick so u can't put it into download mode and go in to the store like you have no idea what happen.

they will see that i was messing with firmware if i do that
Look into how to package stock into a cwm zip. Backup everything you want to keep format internal and external sd. Boot into recovery do a factory reset and wipe, wipe, wipe, and then flash. Make sure you can't boot into recovery after that and that you don't have super user.
I have had a few friends send there phones in to get exchanged while they were rooted one on a custom rom. They just made sure either they uninstalled superuser and made sure they couldn't get into recovery. I sure deleting any rooted apps would add a little security. I say get rid of dl mode because I seen them try to boot into it when I got mine replaced.

i think i bricked my phone..i was trying to flash CM7 so first i went to stock 2.1 for safety and then by mistake i flashed a 2.2 kernel the phone stuck at atnt screen.luckily i was able to get to recovery screen,so next i tried to follow CM7 instructions first i flashed efs backup in recovery and i rebooted to download mode from recovery itself coz i wasnt able to go to download mode directly.and when i selected the kernel and flashed it said "FAIL"..i removed the usb and connected again it still said fail..i thought that i need to go to download mode again so i removed battery and now whatever i do i get a screen with "phone ! pc" i tried so many things searching in this forum but nothing worked for me..someone please help me please please!!!
Sounds like you need a jig
Sent from my Captivate using XDA Premium App
The instructions clearly say that you're supposed to start from a custom rom and a kernel that has cwm. If you don't know what you're doing don't even attempt to flash.
As for a fix, it looks like jig time.

I try pulling battery then holding both vol keys then inserting battery and then plugging in usb cable while its plugged into the computer and odin is running. Ive tried every other variation of this as well. I have no idea what to do next, please help. Plugging in the USB after holding the keys only brings up the SAMSUNG screen. I can three button into 3e recovery but of course that is no help. Please help

Are you by chance on a ROM with extended power menu? With the Download mode option. That would be perfect!

did you tried a different usb port on the computer or a different computer?
tried a different data usb cord?
I tried different computers, cords, drivers, everything. I even tried a different battery. Would a USB jig work?

possible. A jig would force your phone into DL mode.
I tried to help a few user in the past when they had a continuous power loop, samsung logo and reboot. over and over again.
It was later determined to be hardware.
If you are not able to get it into DL mode, chances are the store tech wont be able to either...you might be able to warranty thru samsung or att for hardware failure
Download mode is what I need to save me, I could unbrick to stock and go from there right?

yes..if you can get into DL mode:
android shoveling dirt or phone triangle with "!"
then you can flash with odin or heimdall..I usually use the heimdall 1 click method.
the important thing is use whatever you're comfortable with.
Sound like what happened to me and im waiting for my next indie now, warranty exchange of course

hold down both volume rockers together only!! and plug in usb keep holding till download mode pulls up on phone
So I have a infuse that is acting up very weird. It will only turn on if its plugged in to power. Tried everything, if it is unplugged and I insert battery it tries to start up without me touching anything, I get the startup star then it reboots over and over, plug it in and I get the star then battery then I can hold power button and it will fire up, tried different batteries, different roms and updated boot loaders, nothing has worked, thinking a hardware problem.... like a bad micro USB port as it acts funny, but can't find one to replace it with...... any ideas? Bought it for 100$ because it does work, you just can't turn it off while out of the house...lol and I like to fix things.... any ideas would be awesome, thanks!

i would backup any current rom in the case that it is a hardware issue.
Question, can it boot recovery...?
Edit: never mind, stupid question, trying to flash cm9 at the moment so im kinda back and forth.
custom rom, of course it can
I can make it stock or customer, roms are not the issue.... the whole power deal and micro USB issue... wondering if people have seen that.

Hey Everyone i was trying to use Odin v1.7 to flash a new rom from the download mode and odin froze and my phone is stuck on this screen and i have no clue how to fix this someone please help me. it wont let me enter boot menus or anything just this one screen!!!
I believe that is still a form of download mode. You can probably try to connect back to Odin and flash again. You might try using a different USB port and/or cable since you had problems with the previous flash. You also might consider flashing back to stock and then trying the new firmware again. Good luck, let me know if it works.

Well i got it out of that screen and back into the download screen with the digging android logo but when i load odin it picks up my device instantly i go to pda click on the mod rom stock kernal and all just root and it wont go past Cache It Just Sits There Cache.rfs so now im stuck here lol.
I've had this happen myself. What worked for me was my wife's cable and a different USB port. Also make sure other brand phone drivers are un-installed. One last thing....in kies there is a place for reinstalling Samsung drivers. Hope at least some of this helps.

I have never seen such screen before?????????????
I realize there are multiple threads like this but throughout all of them I have not found any that relate to my issue or a combination of them. If I have missed one I apologize in advance and please direct me to that thread then. I was running steel droid what I thought was 5.5 ICS but it looks like it is 5.1 according to the forums. I was previously running steel droid 4.5 GB. I was switching back to 4.5 because I could not get wifi hotspotting to work. I forgot to wipe my cache and went to install 4.5 and I am stuck in bootloop. X+Power gives me the android error screen, M+Power allows me into the main menu but I cannot use AP fastboot, SBF motorola will not pick up my phone and the screen will show a connection to the USB cable. I've never had a problem before but also have never forgotten to wipe the cache so any thoughts would help.

I would but I get android error screen with exclamation mark each time regardless of how I access recovery X+Power or vol +,- and Power then going to recovery, I wouldn't have thought that not wiping the cache would have been the cause but it was the one step I didn't do that I normally always do so I was just adding it in for information but thanks for the know how that it wasn't the cause. Any other thoughts since I cant even get into my backup ROM or recovery, I have another SD card not sure if my SD card has become fried for some reason, I will be trying that to see if maybe that is all it is.

Unfortunately you can easily tell that it is not stock ROM by bootloop
Well your computer should recognize your droid that's a common problem with Odin and Samsung one of these steps always work so try then and seen if we can't get your droid recognized NUMBER 4 WILL WORK 99% OF THE TIME BUT TRY THE OTHER METHODS FIRST 1. Use the stock cable or try a difrent port 2. If its possible on your program take out the battery and SD card as leaving them in course problems 3. Run the program as aminstrative 4. Plug the phone in and have it in download mode or whatever you call it WHILE THE COMPUTER IS BOOTING Up This will force the computer to recognize it not the best method but it always works
