Speech Recognition/ Voice Command issues - Thunderbolt General

Hey guys, so I tried using the voice commands where I say "Send text to John", but I am having issues with it. It opens up a text message, but puts "To John" in the message body instead of actually putting John in the as the recipient. Does anyone else have these goofy issues? Could just be the way I am saying it or is there some way to adjust voice command settings to make it work better? Thanks.

I would recommend you just grabbing Vlingo as it is pretty intuitive

Voice control : Vlingo now FREE

Vlingo has announced that effectively immediately, it's voice to action is now FREE
Thanks gonna try it.
I just downloaded Vlingo...but when I say the "send text" command it opens up the native Android SMS app, even though I have Google Voice as the default SMS app on my phone. How do I get Vlingo to open Google Voice when sending texts?
It may not be able to integrate to it. It's only advertised to work with the defaults after all. GV is an addition in 2.1, so I cant say.
Try "text via voice" or something similar. You could also contact the developer.
How is working with battery? Does it drain battery a lot?
Honestly? I don't know. I suppose it does no more than Google Voice Search, when in use.
Despite the cool factor, this doesn't make Captivate a KITT
Works with handcent sms fine. For sms, I prefer it. Also has a widget to turn on read aloud for sms.
Edwin seems to open apps better. Edwin has translation. You can also have search results come back as audio.
Google default dials contacts faster but this shows phone book and google results which is nice.
Overall great addition.
Also like gesture search app. Try that one out.

The problem I'm having with this, as well as the Google Voice thingamabob, is that I have to tell it the whole name of someone in my contact list before it recognizes who I'm talking about. It misses on first names every time, even if the first name I ask it to call or text is unique on the contact list. I had hoped Vlingo would be an improvement, but, alas....

[Q] Google Voice Text Messages

Ok guys, I can't find a thread on this so here's my situation. I have a nookColor, I'm currently running Froyo on it and I would like to be able to have my Google Voice text messages get stored like normal texts so I can use something like Handcent or GoSMS to send and recieve messages through my GV number. If anyone knows of a way to do this or could point me at some files to poke through I'd be much appreciative
I don't think this is possible, but if it was, it'd be very convenient for me to have as well.

Searching for voice recognition/ walkie talkie app

Hey there xda dudes,
I'm searching for an app or rather a feature which I can't find: I want to send voice/ audio messages like walkie talkie apps and also have voice recognition in there, so that me and friends don't have to hear the message and can also read it, even if it was recorded as a voice message and not typed. That would be awesome!
Even better if it was streaming and sending while recording and also, with the new ICS "open mic voice recognition" instant transcribing )
Looking forward to your helps and respons0rz

HeyTell can do audio messages but I dont think it can do the voice recognition part...
Hey, yes thank you, that's also what I found. There are a couple of apps which can do voice messages, but found none that transcribe to text. Which would be incredibly awesome.

I use the flexT9 keyboard and regularly use the speech to text option to enter a text msg/instant message in various programs...that seems to be what you're really looking for.

Thank you, but nah... I'm searching for BOTH voice message AND transcribed text... so I can send recorded messages without having to type what I said. But still send the voice message, because it's different from just text.

Question about NFC tags.

I have the Sprint Siii, but I'm hoping it's the same for you guys, nobody can help me out on my forums.
I want to send a text when I swipe an NFC tag.
When I use the stock Samsung NFC app, the most it does it fill out the message and the "to" fields. I have to send it manually though.
I downloaded NFC Task Launcher and both plugins for it.
Most I can get it to do is fill out the fields, but I have to manually send it. I tried regular message and the uri one. Both do the same thing, but don't send.
Anyone get it to work at all?

I'm digging through the nfc task launcher app piece by piece.
The reason I couldn't get the plugin to work to autosend the text message before was because I used the wrong tag command.
I was using the sms option under the menu:
New uri
...when I should have been using the option in:
New task
...then:
Phone
...then the sms message option.
So, if we want to pre-populate a message but still be prompted to send or not, then "new uri" is the category to choose from.
If you download the text message plugin, then you can just auto send the message without further interaction then simply tapping the tag using the "new task" category and sms message in the "phone" subcategory.
I also downloaded the phone autodial plugin, and set a tag to call my lady - now calling her while travelling is a simple tap away.

I was able to get it to work with NFC Task Launcher and the plug-in, IIRC. I don't think I saw a copy of the message, in my messaging app, but my wife got them. I only tried it a few times, I just prefer to hit the send button myself.

I know it can be done with tasker, and i know NFC task launcher can initiate Tasker tasks...
There was an update on the sms plugin today. It now works for me and puts the message in your sent message. Thanks for the help

Use NFC Smart Q - in my opinion the best NFC App on the Market and FREE! You can set up a text message (Text "On my way home") to specific contact (Your spouse) and program it to a tag. Then when you tap the tag, it will automatically send that message. You do not have to hit anything - it just does it in the background. Works awesome! Link to app on Google Play: NFC Smart Q
And if you need more tags - check out my store below.

[Q] Google Voice texting not working

Hey guys i was wondering if anyone could assist me, I keep trying to set up google voice so i can text over wifi with my google number. I link it to my verizon wireless phone number and set up the options so it never uses google voice for voice mail but i can't seem to get the compose option to show up with texts. I made it so it syncs my text messages but nothing works. I cannot use google voice to text one my HTC Rezound or 2nd Gen Nexus 7. Any options to assist?
Honestly Google voice sucks. I use all the time but it lag, and sometimes you get your voice mail late and text late. Maybe it's just me. Just use Facebook messenger for text. It works. Save you an app space.
