I have been trying to use my wireless xbox controller with my xoom, mainly for gta3. I have bought a usb wireless xbox adapter and can connect the controller to the xoom easily. The controls work as tested by the usb/bt joystick demo app, but ingame the camera keeps getting stuck looking down and spinning. I have tried this with 2 controllers, which both work fine with the xbox) and ics as well as honeycomb.
I can't seem to fine the cause or find anything on google about a fix. I have added a video below showing what happens as it's quite difficult to dxplain
has anyone else had this issue or can think of a cause? Could the usb adapter be buggy? Could an app correctly calibrate the camera axis?
I have the exact same issue.
I'm no expert nor do I have a controller but is there some sort of calibration so you can center the controller?
Used to have this problem back in the days of midi connectors as game ports.

Glad it's not just me, u using the same setup as me? I am not 100% sure my usb xbox adapter is genuine Microsoft but that shouldn't effect it?
Sorry was saying I don't have a controller setup. Just trying to give some friendly advice.

Sorry, quoted wrong post.thanks for your help but there is no configuration for the controllers. There is an app called usb/bt joystick center but am not sure if it will help,as its a paid app
Xbox Wired
Hmm, The XBOX Wired Controller works like a charm. Perhaps there is a driver issue. I know that using a wireless controller with Windows causes problems sometimes
Well I dont think microsoft made black wireless adapters for PC. And on the tegra site it says wireless controllers arent supported. Though wired is.
Same issue here. But with the USB Joystick Center app this issue is gone. I think its an android kernal bug.
How did you setup your profile with the app? Could you upload the profile or detail it?

OK, after some more research and trial and error I seem to have fixed the issue. The only bad news is that you need to be root. Something I found on a post talking about the onlive controller made me try their solution.
Firstly you need to run dmesg and look for the line:
<6>[ 1489.104652] usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=045e, idProduct=0291
Taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418263:
Open up a terminal emulator and run the following (building the new filename from the idVendor and idProduct)
su
cd /system/usr/keylayout/
mount -o remount,rw /system
cp Vendor_045e_Product_028e.kl Vendor_045e_Product_0291.kl
Reboot for the change to take into effect and both gta3 and shadowgun worked brilliantly. I had to assign some controls from within the shadowgun game to my preference and I can't be happier. I am running teamEOS ics ROM but this should work for honeycomb.

I can confirm that this is happening on my wired controller. The wireless/wired is not the problem. For me, the problem seems to ONLY happen when I press one of the trigger buttons on the 360 controller. Sounds playable, right? Well apparently some of other buttons don't work, like the drive/brake button. I have no idea what those buttons are so I don't know which ones aren't working.

Are you root? Have you tried my solution above?
I'm not rooted so I didn't try your solution. I think my problem is that I lost the dongle USB connector on from the xbox controller. I replaced it with the dongle from a Rock Band drum set. When I connect the controller to my computer it plays fine and registers as an xbox controller, except when I connect it to the tablet it came up as a Harmonix music controller. Maybe its just the dongle. I'm going to look around to try and find my original.
EDIT: I just found my original dongle, and it still shows up as a music controller. I'm pretty sure I'm only getting this problem because I'm using a cheap gamestop controller instead of a real xbox controller.

OOOOHHHH YES!! This is the solution!!! Only reading this REPLY I have found the solution for all my problems... i try to Explain:
I have a OnePlus One whit Boeflla Kernel........ this kernel have a native support for Wired Controller XBOX 360 and i have two GameStop Xbox compatible controller!
There is correctly detected and working whitout problems but during some games like driving games my car swerved a little to the left when the analog stick is still on center!
I have tryed to found a solution over google and i found this thread... and now i have found a solution:
- I have installed "Android Terminal Emulator"
- I have connect my OTG cable and my Xbox 360 GameStop GamePad
- Immediately i have open the terminal... run su to get the root previleges and execute dmesg for found the correct idproduct and idvendor of my Gamepad!
At this point i have used ES File Manager... and whit that i have make a copy of stock file "cp Vendor_045e_Product_028e.kl" and after i have renamed to my needs (Vendor_0e6f_Product_0301.kl in my case) !
I have restart my device......... and rerun the same driving games and not YEAH!!! When Analog stick its still on center the car continue to runs perfectly well to forward whitout any problems!!
Very great solution!!!
At this point my question it's:
If i change my OTG Cable... the IdVendor and ProductID it's been changed or not ?
I have two different GamePad (two identical gamestop because it's perfect to play on PC )... and if i want to connect my second gamepad i need again to found the idvendor/product or not ??

Hey I use a wired Xbox 360 controller and in mine craft it looks up and spins and in menus it scrolls up.
I have a MYGT Bluetooth controller which works fine with the game. However I get the same thing you were describing when I try using a Razer keyboard and GE mouse with a OTG adapter and USB hub. In Google I can type and move the cursor so I know the game is what's messing up. I tried playing Minecraft with external devices and it works fine with the Bluetooth controller, however when using the keyboard only the number keys, functions buttons, and arrow keys work with the game.
My only and easiest solution was to install Magisk and 1controller module, a pity it doesn't exist as APK, good luck in installing Magisk

Updated last night. Finally got to play around with it this morning. Plugged PS3 remote into USB port on the dock and fired up FPSE. Mapped all of the hardware keys from the controller in settings and now I am playing all of the PS1 goodness I can handle. Excellent!
what game u r currently playing ? and what version of fpse?
is there a chance to use a bluetooth controller aswell? or other solutions without a dock?
I haven't tried to use Motion in Joy to manully input the bluetooth mac address of my transformer yet as I am at work and motion in joy is installed on my computer at home. I am going to try that tonight and see if maybe they will pair now. I am playing Gran Turismo 2, Bloody Roar 2, Ultimate Doom, Rival Schools with no issues so far. FPSE version 0.10.31
The ps3 remote also works great with most of the other emulators.
So far, i've tested it on my transformer with:
Gensoid
Gearoid
SNesoid
Nesoid
Gameboid
GBCoid
N64oid <- for some reason i couldn't get the c-buttons to map to the right analogue stick properly, may look into this later...

so u are using older version than mine,0.10.48. I alredy tried 2 games : spyro 3 and Valkyrie profile, both have sound problem . I hope someone could test em too. the graphic quality is bad if compared to N64oid emulator, the 3d texture is pixelated, the resolution is also very low, so we can see the jaggy. my question is did I make wrong configuration?
about the game rom file, is it correct they come in several files like .ccd, .img, and .sub when we extract from zip file?
thanks in advance

When you say PS3 remote do you mean controller? It's wired right?

Sure. Plug the PS3 controller in with USB to the dock (obviously). Fire up FPSE and choose your game. Go into the options/settings (for FPSE) and select input. Change Bluetooth pad port 1 to BGP100. Then on touchscreen I turn off the skins for the onscreen controls. This is optional but why have them on screen when you are playing with a controller. Then hit the hardware keys option. Tap the screen for each key then touch the corresponding key on the controller to assign them. Once all buttons are assigned you're done. You have to do it for every game the first time you play it then it will remember your settings for that particular game.
Also I don't run the game in full screen (someone was talking about the graphics) I run it in 4:3 centered. It looks better that way.
edit: Also didn't get a chance to use motion in joy to manually enter my transformer's BT MAC address into a ps3 controller last night to see if wireless might be an option now.
k thanks, i'll give it a shot
when i get to the part where it says press a key, nothing happens.....any idea what would cause that.
tried a different controller and it worked...weird...both work fine on the ps3.
thanks
oh and do i save within game or do i have to go to the fpse menu to save...keeps asking me to load bios, or do you have to do that each time you setup a new game?

On the system menu after you select a BIOS go down to the bottom and save as default config. You might have to push the home button on the PS3 controller to get it to assign the keys. It wasn't registering my keypresses on the assignment menu so I hit the home key like two times (it ended up registering the first button as home and I had to change it).

How would one go about trying to pair the PS3 controller to the Transformer via Bluetooth? Isn't motion in joy for a PC/Windows?

Just a warning/observation. While from reading, though I haven't tried it yet, you appear to be able to use two controllers via bluetooth, hooking two differnt working usb contoller to the usb ports on the dock doesn't work in either the snesoid, nor N64oid. Instead you will find both controllers control both characters on the screen.

with Snex9x Ex the app allows you to make a wiimote player 1 and another player 2.
I have used my wii remote (plus classic controller) with n64oid but 1 player only.
To do this I used WiiController from the market first before opening n64oid.
It may not work 2 player though as it seems to map wii controls to the keypad.
i'll give it a go in the next wee while
Edit - Just tried and I couldn't get n64oid to do 2 player.
Consolation Snes9x EX should do no problem.

I have a TF201 with SNESoid from "Yongzh" and two PS3 Six-Axis controllers. Is there a way to play two player games using each of the controllers? I can get them both to "work", but they only control the 1st player. I have mapped one controller under controller 1 and the other under controller 2. Thing is, the button that is assigned to each control is the same, which is obvious since they are the same type of controllers, but I can't get the emulator to distinguish the two. Not sure if I make a ton of sense, but if you have a way to play 2 player on an SNES emulator for the TF201, I'd love to hear it.
Hi,
I installed n64oid on my TF, and connected a PS3 sixaxis controller via BT, everything seems good, I can map the controls in the emulator app, but when I launch a game i got the message "n64oid is running in background" in the notiication bar, and i can't control the game with the gamepad.
If i map the controller buttons to letters like a, b, c etc... and i play with :the dock keyboard it works. I think it is somehow really in the background, and the browsing/loading roms part of the emulator keeps the focus, because if i quit the game and go back to this screen I can see the letters on the screen corresponding to the buttons i pressed while testing...
I tried nesoid too, same problem...
Have any of you already experiences this problem ?
Thanks !
Edit: just tried with a wired xbox 360 controller, it works, so it's just with this sixaxis controller app...
just connect the ps3 controller via usb and it should work fine
2 things I always forget to check; 1- did you change the input method from your keyboard to sixaxis controller using the big button in the sixaxis app? 2- did you go into Other settings in n64oid app and enable input method?

Hey guys quick question what's better for games like super Mario xbox controller or ps3?
I love playing Mario on PC emu and getting tf next week hoping to make the experience even better hate keyboard controls
Sent from my GT540 RSpec using XDA App
Truthfully I would say there is little difference. It comes down to whether you prefer a wired or wireless controller. Either way you go with the Xbox 360 controller youre going to have a wire coming out of your docks usb port (have to use PC Wireless 360 adapter)
I have played mario with both and loved it both ways. The only other thing I will mention is that with the Xbox 360 controller you cant program the right joystick, but with the Sixaxis Controller app and a Sixaxis you can program both sticks to work independently. That comes in very handy if you decide to play and first person shooters in n64oid.
sixaxis over 360 control
I really like the dpad on the sixaxis more for classic games due to clearly defined up/down/right/left rather than the large disk with nubs... just my preference though I might just be too picky.
So with the extra stick on the six axis control does it make say golden eye way easier to play ?
I have a xbox 360 but don't have a ps3 so is wether its worth the extra cost really

Alright! ordering my OTG and MHL tomorrow. Lets see which one works.
Hi there......
If course, it's possible to connect the note with the mhl to a tv and connect a wireless keyboard over Bluetooth.....
I use the keyboard from keysonic 340 BT, that's great, have a mousepad, works great with the "external Keyboard Helper" app, there you can configure 3 complete keymappings to the whole keyboard and switch them how you want..... Also gamepad keys are available....
For gaming:
Most of the new games are supporting Gamepads already........
For ps3 Controller use the sixaxxis App, works for sure.....
But there ist also an app that is called bt/Usb joystick center, wich should connect all kind of wired and wireless pads to the Usb host or Bluetooth.......
I got the app but have no controller at the moment to test it.....
There's also an add on, called joy2touch, this should make it possible, to configure a keyboard, wired or wireless, to play games like on pc with mouse for view and keyboard control, that's what the dev promise, but sure I never test it...... If it works, it would be fantastic......
But the quality of the Mhl picture is fantastic.... At movies, you can watch them in real 1920 x 1080, more than the display can show.... Great.....
And also in games, there is enough resolution to play it on a great hd tv set.... A real mobile game console.......

Just got my MHL and OTG cable .
And just realized that after connecting the MHL i wont be able to connect the OTG cable as we have only 1 port:silly::silly:.
So was looking at alternatives to play the games not and later buy some good joysticks. Few games are working with the standard keyboard, mouse but i have to map them.
Also came across this wireless joystick . Any idea if this will work with sixaxis or similar app to map the buttons?
So I've got my Shield and I'm loving it. However, only about half of my games have Xinput controller support. So I'm trying to figure out how to get either Pinnacle Game Profiler or Xpadder to work with it. I've tried a few things, and I'm not quite getting there. Here's what I've tried:
- Setting up a Profile with Pinnacle for Xbox 360 controller and then launching Big Picture from the Shield. This didn't work (although it works with my regular Xbox 360 controller when not using the Shield).
- Adding Pinnacle Game Profiler as a program to Steam and then trying to launch it while connected with the Shield. It would not open while the Shield was connected to Steam. It did open in Big Picture while the Shield was not connected.
So that's about as far as I've gotten. I do have a few ideas, but I'm not sure how to implement them. One idea is to figure out how to add Xinput to a game. Basically setting up something like Pinnacle or Xpadder to "listen" for a connected Xinput-compatible controller and then activate the proper profile. The other idea is to try and get Windows to see the Shield's controller and then configure Pinnacle/Xpadder in the normal way. I've tried connecting the Shield to my PC with a USB cable, but it only mounts as a Media Drive and the controller feature is not detected by the computer. Someone on the Pinnacle forum suggested trying to find an App for Android that will connect the Shield to my PC as a controller. There are several Apps that can do something like this, but none that look like they would work with the physical buttons on the Shield (if someone knows of a good App, I'd be interested to try it).
So those are my thoughts and where I'm at. Any ideas on what I can try?
No ideas, but bumping for my support... the inability to map the controller to keyboard buttons is the biggest letdown of the system to me. So many awesome games I could be playing on it if we could just map with xpadder.
I'd pay good money to have mapping abilities... anyone feel like a bounty?
It should work in theory if you play through steam, right? Steam recognizes the controller as xinput. If you set it up manually from the PC it seems like it should work!

The problem is that the controller is only detected by the computer while you're in big picture.it disconnects as soon as you exit big picture.
