Best place to buy and sell used phones - Thunderbolt General

What are some good sites to buy and sell phones other then Amazon or Ebay?

I've had good luck with Craig's List but remember to follow the rules:
1. face to face ONLY and
2. cash ONLY!
You can always meet at the carrier's store and get the phone activated right there, that eliminates any possibility of a bad ESN or...

A little Craigslist tip, send your seller multiple extremely low offers from separate email accounts, lower his confidence a little before going in for the real but still below value offer.

Lol nice im trying that next time
this Thunderbolt has been Infected with a Virus for all Eternity

I usually sell mine on Ebay and buy them on craigslist or Ebay.

Swappa.com is another. It's where I bought my Thunderbolt.

You can also sell your used/broken phone at Buy Back Pros other than Amazon or eBay. I can say this because I also sold my broken phone at Buy Back Pros where I got a very good price there even all beyond my expectations. They provide me free pickup and also the 30 days money guarantee

If you didn't sign for either and they were just left on your door, then you have a question to ask yourself
Are you a person concerned with "Ethics"? If so test both, see which one has less bugs and screen bleed, then send back your original and the lesser of the two replacements
If not, call T-Mobile and check your order history WITHOUT mentioning you got two G2X replacements, and ask for tracking numbers associated to any orders including warranty replacements.
If only one G2X order exists in the system, match the tracking number to its phone and use only THAT phone never turning on the other one
Get a replacement battery cover from LG, a charger and battery online, sell as new no box on Craigslist with a prepaid number, delete the ad and email, throw the prepaid sim away, profit.
Mail the extra one to me. :O

Does anyone still buy the captivate?

I'm new therefore not allowed to post in marketplace. I got 2 brand new in box.

Yes people do. I've actually wanted to get a second one for a while.
I am not amused by your phones performance
New ones in the box seem to go for around 300 on ebay still.
So i'll sell mine for $250 shipped. $475 for the pair. They are att&t. But also one of the easiest phones ever to unlock. I'm glad to do it for anyone that wants it done before shipping. At the moment they've never been out the box.

I bet you would. Sgs2 on Amazon goes for about $550+. You said you would let them go for $475/pair. Yeah, I can see why you would do that.
Anyone that buys from this guy is a compete fool. No offense buddy, just looking out for the members. There's a reason u need a certain amount of posts to list in the market place. Lots of people getting ripped lately. Sorry buyers beware

Not sure how to respond. Because your absolutely correct. No one has any reason to trust me what so ever. And theres no way to change that. But my options are this or ebay. They have lost tons of value as it is because of the length of time I've had them. I'm sure I could get 500 on ebay, but by the time I pay their fee and paypal s fee for the money transfer and the shipping cost I might have 425 left. If you've sold on ebay then u know. And we all know what they cost so the thought of selling a brand new galaxy s for $212.50 seemed crazy. Wasn't sure what to do. I dont need the money but they'll be worth nothing if I continue to hold on to them. Its ok if u dont trust me.

Ha. I didn't know. I'm sorry I came off wrong. I was just trying to get rid of a couple extra phones. I know nothing about "scamming". Can we just delete this post? Its went completely in the wrong direction. Maybe ebay was my best option. Irony was I never thought about selling them in the forum until I noticed the"marketplace"

Try Amazon.
Why not try Craigslist?
Just bought a second one for my wife. I'll keep these until the Galaxy Note has been out for a month or two. Loving that 5.3 inch SAMOLED. No reason to go to the SGS2 that I can see. It is awesome, but not that much better than the Captivate.

Sure there is. I havnt sold in a couple years(another reason why I shy away, so much has changed) but i remember paying an extra .25 just to have a pic posted during search. Extra charges if you use alotta pictures. And the charge just to post, and the extra if you sell your item. Things of that sort. My accounts havnt been activated in a while. I went back to paypal the other day just to update that accout. New bank and such. Because i bought a few accesories for the captivate I use now. If the person thats interested perhaps lives in southern VA or northern NC maybe we could meet. I live on the line midway (Halifax County, VA) Or if there is someone you really trust on the forum I could send the item to the first. And when they get it they can let you know. Then I could recieve my payment. Of course it would have to be someone of high standing. I would hate to get ripped off myself. Just know I'm not here to scam anyone. I could take pics of the items if it helps. At least you'd know I actually have them. Beside a printout of this post so you know i didnt just copy a picture from the web. I'm trying here guys. I'm an honest person. I dont care if I sell them now. I guess now I'm just trying to build a little trust.
Post edited - You must post for sale items in the marketplace.

ive been selling bnib captivates in the marketplace for around 225 each. cheaper if bought in multiples..

Want to know peoples experince on best way to sell phone.

i have a thunderbolt in essentially new condition that i want to sell, but only really know of ebay. have people used other services that they could recommend? or if you know of any sites where people barter for other electronics that would be great too
Use the marketplace here its free to use with far less hassle than ebay. I've sold 2 phones here my g2 and nexus one and both were successful, easy and smooth transactions!
you can also try swappa.com they charge you $10 but the service is great I've used it several times to buy and sell phones.
Ebay always has been best for me, good prices and quick sales

Or get robbed. Be verrrryyyy careful with face to face meetings.
eBay has served me very well over the many devices I've sold.

I have sold successfully on amazon, although they do charge comission. I have used craigslist too, but if you choose to meet, do so at a public place, like coffee shop or grocery store.

Wow - I hope people aren't getting robbed! Meet at a Verizon store, not in a back alley in the worst possible part of town. Done many a transaction via Craigslist, never once had any issues and I usually sell within a day or 2 and get the amount I am looking for.

3rd party phone insurance for one x?

basically looking for non att phone insurance
and example would be zaggs
http://www.zagg.com/store/services/zaggsafe/safe.php
which i was going to buy but after calling them found out it only covers like 3 phones, none of which are the one x.
so does anyone have an recommendations ?
Squaretrade?
has anyone used ensquared before ?
like that it covers lost/stolen
I love square trade. No idea if it covers lost/stolen
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
ugh square trade doesnt cover lost but enquared does but requires a police report
"1.20 When I make a claim what do I need available?
Three things: Your credit card in all events (damaged, lost or stolen); if lost or stolen then police report or details of where and to whom you reported the loss/theft with particulars like police station, station phone number, officer name and number etc; proof of purchase like bill of sale in case the claims centre requires information from this document."
which is kinda ridiculousness but at least id have lost coverage
I really like the best buy warranty. $10/month and there is no deductible, cancelable at any time. Covers everything as long as you have the phone in your possession.

ebay Scams

In the last month I purchased three items on ebay that were scams, two Android sticks and a quad core phone. ebay sent me alerts on the two sticks after I had paid but I got the money back quickly. Still waiting for ebay to refund for the phone.
Two of the auctions gave me tracking numbers and packages were shipped. The phone package contained two fake Pandora beads and the Android stick package contained two small black beads ... sense a theme here?
Here's what I figured out:
1) If a seller has been selling paintings, clothes, or whatever and they switch to high tech items suddenly, run away. Either the account was hacked or they used the other sales to build positive feedback.
2) If the price seams too low, by a LOT, run away. $200 for a $320 phone ain't happening.
3) Tracking numbers don't mean squat, I got beads!
4) If you don't see any feedback for items like yours, run away.
5) If they have a lot of "Private" auction items, run away.
6) Just because they answer your questions about the items it doesn't mean squat. My phone seller was very helpful and responded quickly to every question. He's the guy that sent the Pandora beads.
I buy/sell a LOT on ebay, thousands of dollars per year. This last month has been an eye-opener, I've never had three sellers from China try to rip me off. Actually these are the first Chinese sellers that have done it to me. Everything else has been great with them. They usually ship faster than US sellers, maybe it was an end of the year blip, we'll see.
Amazon is similar, but I feel it is better and more safe.

Wow, that's some bad luck. 3 at a time too. But yeah, these tips would apply to just about buying anything off ebay. You must do all your research about the seller and product before buying anything and if anything feels off, I would rather not risk it.

Only if you buy from 3rd party sellers that aren't fulfilled by Amazon. If you buy direct from Amazon or a fufilled seller than they are very safe to buy from with free returns (print free prepaid shipping label) if something is wrong.

He can't do it because his paypal account is locked, but they can!
