YIKES
That would scare the crap out of me, if I didn't know it was there

it's just an app, anyone can port it over or create a new one from scratch if they really wanted to

Use Advanced Task Killer apps ,and then manage or uninstall selected app

Autostarts: Which system apps are ok to disable?

There are so many random HTC apps that I don't know which will totally screw things up. Does anyone else use Autostarts who can provide some info?
No one uses this app? So far it has been awesome! It isn't an auto-killer or anything, so you don't have to worry about it running in the background. It actually changes the permissions of when things can launch, and it has a TON of options. I really recommend it.
I use Startup Manager and have disabled a ton of crap with it. However, i'm unsure if it's a task killer or a permissions setter like this program is.

Im Rooted!... Now my apps are always on?

So I rooted this sucker yesterday and have noticed that once I have rooted my apps are always opening on their own... What gives? When I say opening on their own, every time I open task killer their are a ton of apps that are opened that i never even touched. And after I kill them they start showing back up automatically. Also advanced task killer will not kill itself any more I have to manually close the program... anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know how to make it stop?
Stop using task killers would be a good start. You are actually slowing your phone down

Yes sir, task killers are a joke. Android is the best task management you can have.

Task killers are a bad idea. Let android deal with the memory management itself, there is no need for an app to do this. The apps you are seeing aren't really "apps," they are services, and they were designed to run in the background to deal with certain things. Ditch the task manger and don't worry about the running services unless something is misbehaving.
please listen to these 3...
K sweet thanks guys
Another task killer bites the dust... Sweet!
Our work here is done boys, we can go home now.
Lmao @^ lol
Android has always opened your apps in the background when it feels it wants to. Nothing to do with root, just the way android works.

Not when it wants to lol, when an app starts a background service. If you want to disable auto run apps on startup check out autostarts. A root app which can stop apps from opening on their own at boot. Some things you don't need to run on boot, if it doesn't have push notifications and it's not something you use regularly no need for it to open and you can disable it to speed up boot.

no actually android loads up groups of apps at one time, when it thinks it might be needed by the user. open system panel and go thru and check, i have 5-7 apps, all started at say 5:07pm, and were never opened by me. but they are cached in the background. its been this way for a long time.
Stop using a task killer, android... oh wait...

[Q] Android startup services control - like windows AdminTools/Services option

Hi,
I'm a newbie to Android phones. After installing a few apps, I was wondering if there is a way to:
a) keep apps from running on start-up
b) have better control over which apps run in the background
For a), I couldn't find that option at all. I have a few apps (Amazon app store, TeleNav Navigator, podcast client, etc...) that all start up on boot, and they don't get used most of the time.
For b), there is a "Auto-end List" in the task manager, but it doesn't seem to do what it's suppose to do. Either that, or the apps that it kills are some how resurrecting themselves during the day, even when I've made sure I didn't run them. It's true even if I kill them manually via the task manager.
Hmm.. Im using Startup Manager.. I think it works?
It's just a weird thing, really.. Why on earth couldn't they just implement something in Android that easily lets you control something as basic as what starts up with the phone?

I could understand that Android devs didn't want lay people messing up stuff that need to run...but at least let us stop Amazon App Store place from running all the time.
"Autorun Manager" is the best I have found. Use the advanced, not basic mode.

[Q] The holy grail of apps

HI all,
Not too sure what to ask here,
I want to know if there is an app that will allow me to pick which apps i want to stay in memory.
In other words, stop apps from running or restarting, unless I open them, and to kill them when Im done.
Ive tried a few apps, but none seem to actually stop the app from restarting.
Running SGS i9000 Gamerzrom JB 4.2 Root
Titanium Backup Pro
Try titanium back up pro, it has the feature to convert downloaded apps to a system app. Apps converted to system app won't be killed and should keep it from restarting. For more info, search about titanium backup and converting apps to system apps.
Try using 'All in One Toolbox and go to Startup options where you can configure which apps can start on boot(needs root). You can also uninstall apps from it. It is as its name does many things and alos has a nice Home Screen widget for quick access. Try it.
Sorry forgot to mention ive been using ZDBox all in one, it has a task killer in it too.
Hard to elaborate what im looking for.
Put it this way, I want everything to stay closed until I use it, and once im done using it, for it to close and stay closed again.
Killing at startup only works on startup. If the app is set to restart then thats a wasted feature.
I dont really want to change an app into a system app as that will keep it running when the system allows it to.
Any other suggestions? there has to be an app out there that developers or memory attentive users, are using to keep their memory and cpu free.

[Q] how do I keep Samsung Music from auto launching in the background?

This is more of an annoyance than anything else, but when I start the mighty 12.2 ( I'm rooted and running the debloated ROM ) the Samsung Music app always comes up as running in the background. Being a power saving geek, I go turn it off, and move on with my day but it would be nice to just not have it run at start up. It is not listing in the xPosed module Bootmanager, and I don't know another way to kill it off from auto starting. Is this some essential core app I should just leave alone or is there another way of preventing it's auto run? thanks!
I'm a Google music user so what I did was freeze the music service in titanium backup. Problem solved for me. Unless you need it, freeze it.

Thank you for the quick reply, much appreciated
Glad to know it's not just mine, then. Saves me the trouble of doing a reset.
if you use it, check out an app called AutoStart Check.. it allows you to sort by either process/permission (Like when starts, when x launches, etc) or you can sort by app and see each autostart process per app and you can kill each specific one.. like you can go in and just disable the autostart on start up and then leave the rest so if you want that process to start when it does, then your set, or disable them all and it only starts when you physically launch the app.. ive been using it for a while and love the app.. helps keep stuff i dont want running when i dont want them..
