Hi people, how are you. I still can't find a ROM to stick with. For those who have tested many roms, which one is the most complete package? Fewest bugs and most stable?
Right now I'm on EB 2.3.3 and it's really nice, but I got a few errors (lost connectivity, txt took forever to receive). It hasn't happened since, and I hope it stays this way.
So, what are you running, and why.
Your on a good one...they all have little things wrong with them...

Depends on what u looking for, wish i could combine all, cm tweaks+froyo cam+froyo a2dp.
been on cm7 nightlies, birgertime 2.3.5, whitehawks MIUI and 2.3.3 OTA build, EagleBlood all of them, faux's from AOSP to right before he started to work on a CM7 source build, xboarder's stock tweaked...
Right now I'm on Whitehawk's 2.3.3 rom and I like it enough to stay with it, but really want kernel options and LG cam. EB froyo was super stable and still have that has my reliable (won't be near a computer to flash and play with roms) Nandroid. So I'd say stick with EB for now to be honest. That and he updates with the most stable updates IMO... infact I might be flashing back to that tonight, after thinking about it lol.
Thanks guys. Anyone have experience with the latest MIUI? I loved it on my G2, but it seems really buggy for the G2X.

I am running it with the faux latest kernel. It has been pretty stable. I like the fact that you have so many options in terms of themes and lockscreens.
I have tried many ROMS but CM7 still stand out. CM7 is solid.

Dude and I'm digging the browser in the new one, kinda like dolphin, I like how u hit back once and it actually goes back a page also u can scroll with the volume buttons lol the newest miui is nice!
I just can't run any CM7 rom given the lack of a2dp. this is such a basic and crucial functionality missing that i cannot imagine having a rom without it.

+1 , me too, forgot how much i missed and used it... i try to go to cm but i always leave based on that and hdmi out at 1080 is not working... all which of those work perfect on the 2.3.3 roms.
xboarder cm7/stock remix is the most stable i tried so far. right now im on weapon g2x which is good clean rom.
i just did the clockworkmod flash and done a full backup and was going to try a few roms without all the bloatware tmobile puts on.. but i HAVE to have a rom that is stable with wifi calling because i have 0 signal at home and wifi calling is very important to me.. in fact the stock wifi calling is kind of flaky on this g2x and would like a rom that might have this perfected a bit more.. any recomendations?
thanks

I have the same issue with no signal and needing wifi calling. without a doubt X-boarders stock tweaked is the best I have been on for stability and daily use. I havent been on the new weapon rom yet but I have been hearing good things about it. right now I am trying out faux new aosp with his OC kernel and for two days it has been solid. Only had one data drop so far. X-boarders is the way to go I think. I have been considering going back until Miui or CM7 is more solid.
Anybody try either of these yet? I've tried the Droid Inc2 (Vivow) build and it's great. Thats how I found the Xoom builds. I haven't seen anyone officially post them in the Xoom Development section. Milestone build date is 2/7/2012 . Might have to give it a try.

I have used their crespo (Nexus S) daily for awhile now and it is the best ROM I have ever used period.
The wingray version however needed some work...I say needed because the version I tried still had 3G icons etc in the status bar and other issues. These guys (Roman) are
frikkin OCD on perfection so when this was overlooked I stayed away til now. I dont even think he has a Xoom.
I'm sure they will get it caught up and then will simply kick ass like the rest of their work. I am about to try the latest build 25 and will report back.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one bugged by the 3G signal showing in the status bar on Wingray. It wasn't a huge deal, but one of those little things you always notice once you see it the first time. There were a few other things, but overall it's a nice build.
I also use AOKP on my Nexus S as a daily driver and I'm very happy with it. No big issues to call out. Once the wingray builds progress a bit more and those few little bugs are worked out, I'll most likely switch to it as my main rom.
Build 25 - 3G icon bars still there.... feels superficial however I didn't test much further . I will continue to periodically check in on them... but like I said - for this aspect to be overlooked then they're not paying attention to wingray for some reason
I am used the Kang rom for a while primarily because it has volume button wake built in. But after a while that tweak just stopped working so now I'm back on Bugless Beast for Xoom.. There's still plenty room for improvement for the Kang rom so I'll try it again at a later stage.
I've built from source and removed the 3G radio icon. It's something I'm sure they'll get to. I noticed someone posted a bug report on that to them already. I posted what they need to do to get rid of it. I might post my build but only after getting permission to do so from them. Run's great with my oc kernel.
Well from what I see they (Team Kang) have discontinued their Wingray builds. Rootz wiki has a pitiful thread that has dwindled and I see only a Stingray release for Xoom as far as the latest build 30.
WTF !
Anyone know whats up?
Great so far but one question to those using it.
Allow apps to write to SD card is in the feature list.
How do I access this? Using various apps I can only write to media memory. Even if I change the path to /mnt/external1/. It just creates that folder within the internal memory.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi all, i recently flashed to the CM7 nightly rom which was great at first. I started to notice a couple issues that are really beginning to frustrate me.
First, Ill often "lose connection to my network", cant really pinpoint this... seems to occur when i'm switching between wi-fi and the carrier network. I have a feeling the rest of my issues are somehow related to this.
More importantly, my Gmail app wont sync properly. I checked the settings and made sure it was checked off under accounts and sync. After it refreshes once, it wont keep updating it. Same issue for my facebook account, it wont even show up under "accounts & sync". After a search on the forums, users recommended i reinstall to the latest app on the market place, at first it seemed like it solved the issue. The next morning it was missing from the accounts and sync. Could this all be related to the network connection issues? I noticed sometimes when browsing the web or marketplace, ill get the same "connection notice".
Less important, but equally frustrating, is the dockbar and notification bar sometimes disappearing and forceclosing.
Besides these issues, the customization and overall user experience has been awesome so far. However, without gmail working properly, it wont last too long. Thanks in advance, would love to resolve these issues!
Why don't you use the stable build instead of the nightly?
Sent from my amazing G2X running Bionic Reloaded v1.2.1
I suppose, I should have, this was my first time flashing a rom. Are these issues common on the nightly? What stable rom is recommended?
Which version should i download?
EDIT: Cant post link's yet, could someone link me the correct cm7 stable version for the g2x. As well as any other required files. (gapps, ect.)
Also, how would i go about reinstalling a stable build, would i take the same steps as if i was flashing from stock?
Did you do a full wipe before you flashed?
Did you try to use titanium backup to restore stuff you shouldn't have?
Did you do a fix_permissions?
The nightlies have a lot of updates that the stables don't, and the work for most people.

I used the FAQ guides on the forums when flashing. I did a complete wipe, never used titanium backup. At one point i enabled "change application permissions" under the CM settings on the phone. After doing some searching online, i thought that may be the underlying issue i'm having..but after disabling it the problem persisted.
Is the stable build a lot different? Should i try reflashing?
Well there's two choices that I would recommend for two different reasons.
If you want a stock build, with no bloatware and increased speed/battery life, I would go with Bionix Reloaded v1.2.1 or v1.3. The thread is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400620 All google apps are already included, so no need to worry about that. I use an Anker 1550 mAh battery and I get about 24 hours of medium to heavy use, which is a lot.
Now, if you want a pure, clean "Google Experience", then I would recommend EaglesBlood. It is the latest Gingerbread ROM, and offers the cleanest, basic experience. The reason I don't use it is because I don't get as good of battery life as with Over the Air GB. It doesn;t have GAPPS included, but there is a link to do so.
Also, if you do choose to go with the Bionix Reloaded ROM, consider flashing the LG Camera, as it is by far better and offeres a smoother experience than the stock GB one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166531
Hope this helps, and happy flashing!

The nightly builds are actually more stable than the "stable" builds. lol
After i restart/reboot the phone, I still need to manually check-off "GMail Mail" under the accounts. Everything else is checked off; books, contacts, picasa web albums, calendar.
I've read through the threads on all the forums, and nothing definitive yet. Also things are changing so fast over the last few days, I figured this needed asking.
I'm hearing people say that some of the zip cooked ROMs can be installed on the 727R but only if you have the leak installed first with ODIN.
When I go through the leaked ROM thread, it says it doesn't work on Roger's Skyrockets.
So is there any way to take a stock, or non-stock GB ROM and get either the leaked ROM or a cooked ROM onto a 727R?
Thanks
This works on Rogers. I flashed this from stock rooted Rogers GB.

+1 today it's been unstable for me a lot and the battery leak is still happening
I think there may be slight differences between the Skyrocket & Rogers version, that only Samsung know about.
One only has to look at the Samsung Focus 1.3 & 1.4 revisions. Both are identical except for a minor difference, but it caused major headaches for MS when pushing updates. It wouldn't surprise me if Samsung does the same on the Android side.
So with this leak your running an unfinished ROM, & one that may not be intended for your revision of hardware
i think that could very well be true. because of this battery drain 2-3% every less than half hour is like does this rom really feel it should be like this. also reboot issues, rom hanging in here & there, its not about the "work-around" but actual work seems very unstable. their devs are even soo stupid that when i ripped dialer.apk they spelled dailer in 1 of the imgs rather then dialer..it made me laugh soo hard..

I'm a newb so I can't post over there to find out if anyone else saw the same issue... maybe I did something wrong but everything else seemed to be great?
Thank you everyone for responding. Gonna wait a few days and see how this plays out for Rogers uses. Hope other Rogers users post results here.
If you are on Rogers, flash the thing from the second post then flash any of the other ICS ROMs.
GB-->ICS works
I used ICSMOD5 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566820
What I did:SGH-i727R
My ROM was running Malice from T989, with Streamline Kernel.
1)Backup!
2)Factory Reset
3)Advanced - Wipe Dalvik
4)Manual reset: - Mounts and storage, Format system, data & cache
5)Flash UCLA4 ICS radio
6)Flash the ICSMOD5_wipe version
7)Boot
8)Wait...wait even more...don't panic...
9)Enjoy
Everything including data and gps, and time issues were okay.
On the apex launcher, the messenger icon is bonked, just remove the shortcut and put the messaging shortcut again.
Wifi Tether: Starts up via toggle mod, can set password and stuff, computer connects to it but no data goes thru.
Will report back on battery use and possible issues.
So far so good.

Then type *#2263# into the Phone and Select "[4] LTE Band Preference" then "[7] LTE ALL". Once you get an LTE signal, then type *#2263# again and this time Choose "[1] Automatic" and it should work.

Hi,
I rooted my phone a couple of days back & upgraded to ICS using Hellfire v1.8 rom.
Since I was getting lags, I also got the flak0's lag fix.
I have started facing an issue the phone would freeze post a long call on the phone screen, I can't even get it to reboot by pressing 'lock+vol up' button. The only way is to remove the battery & put it back.
I saw a similar issue seen in this thread from partzman2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28342782#post28342782
But unfortunately, I am unable to comment on the thread as I don't have enough posts in my name. I searched the forums for this issue, but couldn't find a solution.
Any help is appreciated.
My sincere thanks to dev folks
Just wanted to take a moment to thank the dev folks who put in a lot of work in creating these roms/mods - experience is so much better, I can't even begin to explain.
I have had g2x for more than 14 months now & I had been running stock froyo 1st & then GB (2.3.3) - the experience was so bad, that I used it only for making phone calls or occasional emails, as i couldn't even browse or do anything w/o hitting some problem or the other. Even phone calls used to crash at times.
After updating to ICS, I haven't stopped using the phone be it browsing, watching you tube videos, trying new apps, emails etc, with occasional phone calls .
Again, thanks a lot for so much hard work, its really appreciated.

Hi, welcome to XDA :fingers-crossed:
I have some sort of sad news for you. In general-- ICS on the G2X isn't really stable right now. A lot of rom's have problems with lag after a few weeks, graphical errors, rebooting, and phone calles (as you mentioned). I'm not sure exactly how to fix your problem, but I had it too. I couldn't find a suitable fix, so i went back to Cyangogenmod 7 (gingerbread)
The latest nightly (newest build uploaded on their server) is available here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=tenderloin
If you are NOT using the march 2012 baseband, flash "old_baseband.zip". I am looking for the file (not sure what thread it is in).
What baseband are you one?
Also, If you must try ics, i suggest Owain's build 77. It's one of the most stable I've found so far.
I'll update post soon.

Thanks for the info. Actually, I went through quite a bit of dev threads before deciding to go with ICS - I was quite curios about its features & was ready to take the risk.
Only thing is that owain's recent 79 build seemed to have quite a bit of issues from the posts, & hellfire seemed a bit old/stable, so went with that. I didn't consider using old owain's builds (which might be an overlook from my part).
Is there a way I can find what I might lose (& possibly gain), if I switch to owain's 77 build?
I am using Jul15, 2011 baseband & kernel is 2.6.32.59-CM9-faux123-050.
Is there a better baseband/kernel that I should try?
I switched the kernel to harsh kernel & I feel that the speed has improved, but "freezing on a call randomly" issue still exists. Also, it crashes & reboots once in a while but I still feel that its worth all the pain as now I am actually able to make use of the phone.
Blazing Angel, did you find the latest baseband which I can try using?
Another bug I found is that I cannot really configure the lock screen buttons/shortcuts - as in adding a an app to be able to accessed from the lock screen like we do for camera. I see the option of changing this in setting but it doesn't persist when I try to change it.
Anyone seeing this?

The latest baseband is march 2012. To update, you need to install Tmobile's V21Y update.
Follow this guide

Note: If you install this, and try to use a rom other than CM7 7.2.0, you need to flash owains New_baseband fix after flashing a rom from here

some of that i experienced my self , most of the times the camera and hdmi port is sacrificed in the g2x
Thanks for the info guys. Say my gps works/locks already (takes a bit of time though) with the hellfire ICS, is there anything I get by flashing this new baseband?
Does it or would it fix the random freezing on calls by any chance?
Basically, I read the instructions & it seems that I'd have to go back to stock, unroot & then re-root + reflash + restore my apps etc - seems like too much if I am not getting something out of it.
If it doesn't add much value, then I will consider doing it once another stable version of hellfire or owain's rom is released..
BTW, did anyone experience the lock screen config issue I posted in my earlier post - basically I can't add custom short cuts to the lock screen, there is an option to do this in the settings but they dont stick (I am on hellfire v1.8 right now)
