Hi,
My Samsung Galaxy S I9000M (Canadian version, but pretty much same as I9000) all of a certain won't recognize the SIM card.
I've read pretty much every post here and on google wrt SIM card not being recognized, tried factory reset, flashed many different ROMs/modems and no luck.
I'm suspicious that the SIM card slot is damaged, as other SIM cards were also not recognized by the phone. Its possible, since I use a micro SIM card adaptor to fit in a micro SIM card into the regular sized slot.
Before I take it to a store, I'd like to ask one of you kind souls to compare the pic of my SIM card slot to your phone and see if there is a gold pin in the middle thats missing on my phone. I see 5 gold pins with no gold pin in the middle at the top of the slot -- should there be one there? (i.e. should there be six pins?)
Thank you so much in advance. I've spend over a week on this so far.
Just to update in case anyone else had the same question:
Yes, there was a pin missing, and the whole SIM card tray had to be replaced.

Hi I have a LG optimus one (p509)
I was puttin in my micro sim adapter and it didn't fit properly. so I jammed it in,
Phone worked fine.
Then when I tried to take it out, three 3 of the four pins got caught in it, the sim wouldn't come out.
So I pulled really hard and now three of the four pins are sticking up.
So no sim cards (not even a regular full size sim card) would go through, so I thought maybe I could force the sim card down and it would work.
So I did that, now when I tried to remove it, it got caught again, so i took a screw driver and took off the thing that keeps the sim card in the slot.
(the metal piece )
Now half of the sim card slot is attached to the motherboard, and the other half is out.
So what do i do?
Can I just soder it back on and it will work?

My phone still boots up and is useable (just no service of course).
better have a technician repair it. i used to have a samsung (old model) the simcard is too loose so i soldered the sim pins (at phone) at yes!!! it failed.
Can anyone explain to me why my cell phones only detect and show that a sim is inserted for certain sim cards? For example, my S3 is able to detect a Koodo micro sim, but when I put in a Fido micro sim, it will not detect it and say no sim card inserted. Same goes for my spare dual sim phone. Any reasons why?

This could happen because your phone might be locked to a particular carrier. Search your device forum for help on unlocking.
I just got this phone today unlocked from tmobile and inserted my custom-cut nano sim into the nano to micro adapter and inserted it into the phone. Everything was fine for a while but i started noticing my data and signal was cutting in and out by itself when the screen was off maybe for 3 minutes or longer. This is a significant problem as you can imagine. I checked every single setting i could and nothing would make it do so. Any advice or suggestions? Im using a straight talk att micro sim card that i had cut down to fit my i5S but came back to android and used a noosy sim adapter. Maybe its the fact that the card is custom cut (so it already doesnt fit the adapter like its supposed to)? I really need help here. Yes i have the proper apn settings and im fully stock.
Bump
So, I have a OnePlus 6 and when I got it first, I use my Meteor card so I had to cut it to make it smaller and now I bought a micro SIM card from Meteor 'Eir' but my phone can't read it or something since I can't call people and it says I can only make emergency calls.
Please help.
May be silly question but do you need to activate the sim first, have you tried it in another slot?
You need a nano SIM for the OP6. If you got a micro SIM and cut it down but it won't read it, you probably cut it incorrectly.
Does the phone detect the SIM at all?
But yes, as Geoff pointed out, if you did cut the SIM chances are you damaged it. Better get a nano card instead.
Today I was carrying out the process of unlocking the bootloader of my tablet, when I removed the back cover I realized that in the sd tray the SIM card area has the pins that read the SIM card, my question is, is there any way to activate the SIM card? I have lineage and a custom recovery

If you bought WiFi only version, it's basically impossible. Maybe that pins are for the SD. If that was possible, people wouldn't pay 100€ more for LTE version.
But if you have LTE version, be careful of what ROM you're using. I mean it won't break your tab, but in some ROMs LTE goes brrrr and doesn't works.
AGS2-W09 are versions with WIFI ONLY
AGS2-L09 are versions with LTE
I have the only wifi version, but those pins are lower than the SD card, I already installed a tray with sim and SD, the pins are just below the card without, however the tablet does not read it, However the tablet software has certain phone services

WOW UMM. No idea bro. Try with another sim or ask huawei team. if that tab has the pins, idk why it doesn't works.
