My phone was unrooted one.
One fine day i think it got heated up too much and went into a reboot loop.
After that when i turn on the phone It gets stuck at HTC logo and vibrates for like 7-8 times and stays that way.I think dats what is called being bricked.
i did go through the post already posted here. But i have downloaded the gold card tool ( exe file)
But i dont know how to generate the PB99IMG.zip file.
Basically which RUU to use to generate the PB99IMG.zip and where would i get it.How to run it.
PLease if possible also guide me step by step.
I ensure i have read all the post here but I am making a new one just because i havent been able to solve my problem.
Would be really thankful if anyone helps.
I am a newbie so i think i am facing a lot of problems.
PLease help me out asap.
Have you tried to boot it into recovery mode!?

@ Lavafire
Hey checked out the post tried installin ADB and FASTBOOT
But it is written it works only for devices having S-OFF.
Unfortunately mine is S-ON.
Please help put guys...
Dont have another phone....
Very old thread but it might help someone else. 7 vibrates usually means motherboard failure. This is unrecoverable and can only be fixed by a motherboard replacement

Hello everyone ,
I got a HTC Desire S. Yesterday i opened my phone and suddenly it closed. And didnt open again. It froze in HTC screen. (Quietly Brilliant is not coming) And i couldn't make a factory reset or recovery. When i press factory reset it froze again. Is there a way to fix this? Also the phone is not rooted or installed any custom rom. Lastly i am a newbie on Android devices. While answering me, can you also please describe what should i do step by step. Especially technical terms.
Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Try boot into recovery or in the hboot menu wipe the device. Then try to boot again.

I think i will do the same Thanks for sharing your experience.
Same here, just send it to HTC, they'll just install new motherboard or swap your phone for working one.

Had it in my pocket yesterday and it started vibrating really fast so I assume it was a call or something. Looked at it and there was loads of apps loaded up on the screen and it was just vibrating away with no incoming call.
Only way to stop it was a battery pull. Turned it back on and it went into safe mode. So turned off and on again and it took a long time to boot but did actually come on ok.
However, the screen didnt respond. So another battery pull and it just stops at the HTC logo on a white screen.
Also when it does boot the light to the left of HTC logo at the top seems lit up.
Any advice guys?

Take a look at this there some possible solutions in there
I get the device to boot after 10 mins on white screen with htc logo.
Still in safe mode. I tried adb reboot recovery but just goes to white screen with logo again.
Did you try ruu or something else inside the thread i linked?
Is your device s-off via revolutionary?
I got into recovery after waiting for a long while. But the only button to respond was the power button meaning I could only reboot.

Good that means adb is working
Try the adb commands within the thread I linked
Or try to use an ruu to restore your partition table or another solution of the following link, but it's quiet strange that your volume buttons don't work or are they just not working within recovery? If they are don't also don't work within bootloader, it looks like there is more damaged than the partitions, your choice, try a ruu or another solution of the linked thread or send your device to repair for warranty (what you also can do after you have tried the other solutions)

I have managed to get it to boot with out safe mode being active. But screen isnt responding and I cant unlock the phone. Recovery still wont let me navigate the menus.
Is there any way I can return it to stock without having to navigate recovery so I can take it in for repairs?
Any way to put it back to s-on?
Sry man, but if you don't read what i'm linking there's not much hope, all possible solutions are in there, including ruu what would exactly do what you want to and not only that it also could fix your problem.
Ruu <- click on this
download the ruu for your region
Plug your device to usb
put your phone to fastboot (inside the bootloader)
Be sure that htc drivers are installed (maybe install AND uninstall htc sync [the drivers are still present])
Execute the the ruu and follow the instructions
I am about to try this, awaiting download of RUU. Although I am not sure which to use.
Mine is sim free stock from carphonewarehouse. So I am grabbing one of the HTC Euro RUU files.
Is there any way to tell which to get?
And I have read the links. Most of it doesnt work so trying the RUU
Just managed to get the buttons working. So doing a restore to see how that goes. Then will try RUU

Will be the right one i think.
In common it depends on in which country or from which provider you bought it.
Sry, in some special cases (mostly related to alpharev/revolutionary) they don't, but for others they worked very well

Nice what was it?
Dont know how the buttons were fixed. Just rebooted and they worked. Restore didnt work.
RUU just completed and screen not responding still. Looks like dead touch screen.
Hopefully carphonewarehouse wont notice the s-off

Which provider of which country are you using?
Is the screen now responding?
Its talkmobile uk.
Phone is not branded.
Could you choose your provider at initial setup?
Which network type are you using, is the apn set the right way?
Have you tried searching for networks within the settings?
the other day I turned my HTC Inspire off to charge for the night and the next morning I turn it back on to see it stuck at the white HTC screen. The phone vibeates like 5 or 6 times while on the White HTC screen... I get it to the BOOTLOG menue to try to reset the phone and it will not do anything it says no CID and something else. Please helpif you can.. I am open to any advise.. I was told that I could download new rom on my external SD card and then upload it thru BOOGLOG but cannot find what i need to download... any help would be great !!! please advise as I anxiously await!! Robert
First thing to try when it is stuck is to pull the battery out. put it back in and restart the phone. See what happens after that and report if the phone is still stuck or if it booted.
it is still stuck wont do anything ... i have to hold the power button and the volume down button to get it in Bootloop mode and still does nothing... is there any hope on saving this phone?

Please do your research on what you are doing before you do it. Bootloop is not a mode but what your phone does when it loads the animation and then starts the animation over and over again. My advice would be to read the stickies before you do anything else.
Please for the love of all tech. Do your homework on what your doing or you will wind up with a device that wont turn on and cant be returned. Flashing things to your phone is not for people that dont want to learn.

You obviously need to read up on this device. There is bootloader or fastboot. Yes you can flash a Rom through bootloader or a signed ruu through fastboot. One can be done if you are s-off and the other if you are s-on. Read the forums to learn about this device because no one is going to be able to help you if you can't even understand what they are telling you.

Hi, noob question I guess...
I have looked everywhere for this answer throughout these forums and google and I'm really sorry if the answer is lurking somewhere here already.
I am in the middle of installing a custom ROM on my 2nd sensation 4g (w/ tmobile) and I'm stuck. There was a firmware issue and the phone was stuck in a boot loop after clearing caches and all that jazz so I had to superwipe and try a different firmware file. I've booted the phone into hboot about a bajillion times tonight but now it won't boot into hboot in order for me to install the new firmware. Hitting vol down+power. Just boots into regular HTC white screen, then continues bootloop again. Tried taking out the SD card, tried just letting it sit a while, I can't think of what else.
Nearly every other issue I've found about this has people suggesting to use a rom manager or quickboot to just start over at ruu files but I'm at the stage in the rom process where I can't boot normally or get into recovery to install zip files. And maybe I can use a rom manager at this point but I just don't know how?
Please help? :\

Double check if you unticked fastboot mode.
I have no way of checking that. I cannot boot past the white HTC logo on startup, so I can't get into the power settings.
I know for sure that it's not in fastboot because I've booted into hboot about 50 times previous to this tonight.
Pulling out and reinserting battery? then power on whill pushing volume down?
Yep, that's what I'm doing. Instead of flashing to the hboot screen like it normally does when I'm holding both buttons, the screen stays black until I release the buttons, then it starts loading up the HTC screen like it's trying to boot normally. Doesn't matter how long I hold the buttons for.
weird! sorry no other ideas

1. adb reboot bootloader
THATS IT!!!
Hi guys,
Got a serious problem with my HTC ON SV. It is stuck in a boot loop where I cannot go into recovery or do a factory reset.
I have never modded this phone from new so it is LOCKED and has no custom recovery install.
I cannot install customer recovery as it is still locked, can't unlock due to boot loop.
I have downloaded RUU_K2_UL_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.17.401.5_R_Radio_0.12.40.00.14_2_10.49.40.11L_release_301902_signed.exe and tried to run that but it always says phone is under 30% battery when it isn't. I've copied the rom.zip while this installation is running and renamed to PL80IMG.ZIP, copied to root of SD and booted to bootloader where it scanns the file and seems to bomb out when it gets to parsing...
I have tried to follow many guides but most assume that you have either rooted or unlocked the phone, i have neither.
Someone please help point me in the right direction...
Nothing can be done for you then. You are better to just send it in for repair and/or possibly replacing it if they cannot fix it.

You are locked and S-On. So, you are currently helpless at the moment. You will need to rely on HTC for support.

Thanks for that. I'm stuck then as I've already had to open the phone up to replace the screen so its not going to be touched under warrenty :crying::crying:
So you did a screen replacement?
Did your phone ever boot fine after replacement or did the problem appear straight after?
It was fine after changing screen, been fine for a good month of 2.
It's my son's, he said it came up saying the SIM wasn't recognised so he pulled the battery out and reinserted the SIM and when he went to turn it back on that's when he got the boot loader loop. It looks like it's trying to load, sticks on the htc splash screen for about a minute and then goes to the bootloader.
