My iPhone and Blackberry friends can group sms/mms in chat room format. Meaning when they text the group everyone receives it and when someone replies everyone in the group also sees it. For me, I get the messages individually and can only send them individually. I can group text them in a separate thread but they only see it as a individual message.
Any ideas?
Android does not have this function. There "may" be an app for it but I have never looked. I have seen the question asked plenty of times tho.

Try KakaoTalk from android market. Very popular. Only thing is that everyone has to have the app in order to send or receive.

What are you trying to get an app for? I dont really understand what your asking. You could use *67 to block your number with calls, or make a google voice account and they will give you a new number.
maybe search the market for free texts. there might be an app to give you a new number
Read the title and I also revised my first post. I want to spam my friend but he has the same phone and I dont want him spamming me back.

its called " TigerText "
If you didn't mean to send a text- retrack it

I agree totally with you. Another reason why I went back to stock messaging over gosms. What good are all of the emoticons if your sending it to someone who can't even see them.

Yeah sorry the send x10 button is a little buggy, it doesn't wait between sends it just mercilously fires the messages off
I got that error when i hit the button 3 times quickly (Hence the use sparingly text)

That one's probably a lot more functional too because it was probably legitimately coded while mine used appinventor which has many limitations
and lololol did that one use the same bomb clipart as me? xD
it will be great if you add the flash sms which send the multi flash sms to the target number

Correct me if I'm wrong, but flash sms seem to have been discontinued.

in that app, you basically add any number of texts you want. so i would be ablw to aadd 10 tousand and it would send 10000 text messages.
in reality however, it would only send 3 text messages anyolne know any reason?

I actually took my app, which did the same thing down for this reason. There was an article in a local newspaper about some developer with a similar app who got sued for around 30K I believe. There was no way I wanted to deal with something like that in the possibility it could happen.
So just wanted to see what everyone used to text other people on a day to day basis and also why they choose to use their choice of texting app. I for one use the stock messaging app that came with the phone. The reason being that since the GS4 is un able to use lockscreen widgets while having a passcode on it I love having the stock messaging app notify me as to who texted me and how many text I have with just a quick glance.
I use messaging app packaged in Task's AOKP. It's simple, has emoji support, is a dark, inverted theme and has quick reply.
Sms popup in the playstore. It adds quick reply to the stock messaging app

It's a poll and kind of an open thread about texting apps. Not really the same as Q&A just because it ends with a question mark.

Well I have always had the idea that the Q &A section was more towards general assistance to a problem for example the question would be "I have a media storage drain how do i fix it?" and the answer would be " perform x and y task and you will be all set" This is just a general poll about what people are using. I am not asking for advice as to what texting app I should use but just more so curious as to what people in general are using. Does that make any sense?
No m8, you are asking a question no matter how u try & dress it up & make it pretty. Belongs ib the Q&A thread

I really like this one too. I used his AOKP on my s2, but for now on my s4 i've just been using stock apps until i decide whether or not any of the sammy s/w features (esp camera) are helpful enough to keep for a while.
Go SMS Pro has always been my choice.

I'm used to handcent and the lock screen popup works well. I just wish I could send multiple pics in mms.
Actually you can ask questions in general. And about apps too. Or hardware or Roms or even accessories. If its to discuss them and poll people about it then it most certainly belongs here in general and not in the other areas.

Hey people,
I have a lot of friends who are iPhone users and send group messages. Is there anyway in 4.4 to leave the conversations and stop receiving everyone's texts? I want to interact solely with the person who sent the text, not everyone who has been included.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
but your not "in" anything, your simply recieving text messages from a group, i doubt you could control that just from a logic standpoint since other people are actively sending to all of you.
I could be wrong however.

I can send individual texts, but group mms with iPhones is not working for. Me as of now.
When a person includes you in a group text on an iPhone, there does not seem to be a way to stop receiving everyone's replies. It's like receiving a "reply all" message from way too many people.
