Hey guys I just wanted to ask and see if any of you guys had a fix for this problem. I flashed MIUI and I really really liked it, except that I did not have any sound on it.
Before you yell at me for "not looking in the forums", I will tell you that I have. I looked in the forums and I saw a thread that had a supposed audio fix for Desire HD ROMS on the Inspire. I flashed this though, and when I rebooted my phone it wouldn't go past the splash screen so I had to restore back to my stock ROM.
PLEASE HELP because I would really like to put MIUI on my Inspire.
Thanks

You need to flash Lord's 8.2 kernel...and yes it is in the forums because thats how I know. I used one of the MIUI builds from the Desire HD forum. There are several builds there and don't remember exactly which one I used, head over there and do some snooping. You'll find it.
I've found that TalonACE MIUI also works (Kernel-wise). Flash the latest TalonAce MIUI kernel, and your set.
Gonna try flashing Lordsmod, saw that on their page they say that it works well with MIUI.
BTW though could someone please explain to me what the difference between LordMod and TalonAce is and what does flashing a different Kernel do for me?
Then I would like to know that if I end up not liking MIUI with LordKernel could I restore my phone back to the way it was before without LordKernel using ROM Manager or would the Kernel stay and just the ROM change?
Flashed LordMod, still no sound
Im using an older miui (1.10.28) because I had sound issue before and couldn't fix. It has lordmod 8.1 kernel and sound is fine. I flashed 8.5 and had no sound. So I flashed back to 8.1
I just need to find the tinny audio fix

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH, flashed LordMod 8.2 (meant to hit 8.1, works regardless) and my sound works now. YAY!!!

sorry if there is an exact thread just like this, imagine there is but i wasnt able to find it. i just got my inspire today im familiar with android phones but i know the phone just came out so im wondering if someone can walk me through this, from what i understand ill need to root, flash the cyanogen7 rom then flash a kernel that will allow me to have sound. i was wondering which kernel i would need and what is the easiest root method currently available. thanks for the help guys!!
edit: there is no modified version of this with a different kernel that will allow us to flash the inspire kernel and make sound work??

There is not a CM7 for the Inspire yet. I can't wait until there is tho, I'm not a fan of Sense... but making due for right now.

i thought you could install any desire hd rom, there is a cyanogen7 rom for the hd right here. and just flash a kernel over it to get the audio working. or am i wrong?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
cyanogenmod has its own kernel that's made specifically for AOSP. A normal sense kernel will definitely not work for it. It is cool though, I flashed it for a few minutes and it's wayyyy quick with the 1.51ghz kernel they have on there, too bad we don't have source to get sound yet
Yeah just played around with it. Superfast. Love all the gingerbread stuff too. Tried fladhing those kernels the phone wont boot
bump, i see people posting modified versions of cm7 for dhd do they have different kernels that would allow the sound to work on our inspires?

Yes, yes they do.
Check out the android development section. There is a working kernel for sound on CM7 and I'm using it right now.

If I make a phone call or receive one, the quality is very poor, stock was amazing. Is there a fix for this? What about gingerbread... is it better?
Sorry, btw it's leedroid 3.0.3
I'm trying to google the hell out of this solution but to no avail. if anyone has a clue or know's, could you please help me out. thanks
Isn't Leedroid ROM a gingerbread ROM?
Remember I'm a newbie, but its leedroid.

I understand, but you asked if gingerbread is better.
There are many versions of gingerbread and one of them is leedroid ROM.
Try a different ROM that has GB in the title of the thread in the DEVs section.
If not flash the ruu for stock that gives u stock sense and 2.2.1 yet rooted. So you can flash another rom at anytime

Flash This
Should Fix this issue
Keep the audio fix on your SD Card. I've been using the same CM7 desire to inspire audio fix for all the euro DHD ROMs and haven't had any issues, all great results actually. currently running TB Fusion 0.4 with LeeDroid kernel 3.0.4 no issues.
Best of luck, cheers!

I flashed MIUI 1.11.11 last night and tried to play a video, and no audio. Not the usual tinny audio issue. Just silence. So I have no audio when playing music, video or on phone calls. I got it directly off MIUIAndroid.com's ROM page and obviously grabbed the DHD build. I have flashed an MIUI ROM before but it was from MIUI.us not MIUIAndroid and it was 1.8.x or something or other. So am I missing something? Is this a bug I'm having, or just a problem with the build.
Thanks in advance,
Jason

Have completely the same issue. Not sound at all.
Not ringtones working, no alarm sound working, no music.... just silence all the times.
Reverted back to 1.11.04 and sound returned back - it's definitely 1.11.11 issue.

Same here. Flashed back to 1.11.4 and audio is still fine.
You can still get 1.11.4 in ROM Manager or <blahblah>roms.miui.us/romsnippet.php?device=ace</blahblah>
Hope there's a fix soon!
I am having the same issue. Should have backup before I flashed to 1.11.11. Now I hope the fix comes soon so that I don't have to flash back.
If you flashed the MIUI and it is using the talon ace kernel version 1.1.2 switch to the 1.1.1 version or try lordmods kernel. See if that helps. I don't have the newest miui. But I've heard of this problem

I see. I manually cleared cache, dalvik and battery stats the first time. I wonder where we did something differently. conflicting existing apps maybe? perhaps I'll try again later.

When I install the upgrade zip, I did manually clear cache, but I still got this problem.
Now I'm trying to flash back to order version, but I can't find the rom for inspire4g or desireHD on MIUI website now (did they remove it temporarily?)
I'm having the same problem, I went back and wiped the dalvik and the cache but it still doesn't work. I'm going back to another rom for the time being until this is fixed.
I'm sorry I also install the lordmod miui 8.1 kernel... try that it maybe that which fixed my issue

When I am on stock froyo, the sound works fine, I can listen and watch youtube videos, play audio. But when I flashed Desire HD rom I won't get any sound. I even flashed the audio fix but still doesn't work. I am trying to Flash MIUI from Symoc's. Anything I need to take care off? I was earlier having inspire 4g 6 months ago but I came back to Inspire after playing with LG THrill. Anything I am missing. I used the ACEHD kit to root and simlock..
Anything else I am missing. If I go back to stock the sound works fine.

First, wrong forum..mods please move this to the Q&A forum.
secondly, why are you flashing a Desire HD rom on the Inspire, just use the Inspire MIUI rom. I usd MIUI way back when I first rooted and had no issues with the sound. Not sure if the Desire HD rom has anything to do with it but best bet would be to start with the MIUI rom for the Inspire and see where that takes you.

Well MIUI lumps the DHD and Inspire together, as do many folks. If you found an Inspire-specific download page, please let us know. There is also InspireMod to make a couple adjustments from DHD ROMs for the Inspire.
Anyways, to answer kingfisher:

With the latest MIUI ROMs, you will need to flash an alternate kernel to be to repair the sound issue. Most people have found luck with LordModUE 8.1 or Tiamat kernels. I suggest you hang out in the MIUI.us forums and the live chat for help with MIUI. Hope it helps!

Some do, some don't. I know since the Tinny audio and stuff, the push has been to include Inspire branding scripts for most of the ROMs now that are available for both the Inpsire/DHD which consequently automatically fix certain issues that arise from Desire based ROMs being flashed onto the Inspire. AOSP ROMs seem to have to a need for Inspire branding, lucky for me I use Absolution which recognized my phone as an Inspire and no need for any kind of inspire branding or audio fixes. With that being said, I guess this would have been better served by a MIUI guru if asked in the MIUI Q&A, hope the OP gets it figured out!
Yeah, I'd love to see the branding and audio fixes pushed out with with the new releases, as there were no issues in the past. For now, the best luck I had was with Tiamat kernel 1.1.5 (audio fix) and InspireMod 0.5 (Inspire branding). In Miui.us's dhd/inspire forum, there is now a great sticky with instructions for the proper process. ^_^

Hi guys,
I decided I want to flash an ICS rom to my nexus S.
Question I have though, is what will work for my phone, which is a 9020A (AT&T) and what rom would give me the closest to stock ICS like what OTA ICS would be?
I was thinking cyanogenmod 9 but I have used CM7 and remembered it being sort of a hassle...
I really want the facial unlock feature if possible. I don't know if it's native in ics or what but I want that.
Tell me why you think the rom you suggest is best, please. I want to know what the pros and cons to it are. And links would be really nice!
Thanks!
stock ics
I'm happy with the stock 4.0.3, I tested Peter Alfonso nightlies lately but I was annoyed by his adjusted auto brightness however it seems to be very popular and smooth and fast.
Stock runs great on my i9023 and there are no killer features in any stock like rom yet imho. But I'm using a custom kernel which is imho always better than the stock kernel.
edit: face unlock is useless since it recognizes nothing and is less secure than a pin or a pattern
Im using the same model phone as you are and running cybergr ics v3. Its by far the best rom so far.. try it, he has alot of extra features.. daily rom. In a couple of days v4 is coming out.
I just flashed revolution HD 4.2.3 this morning with speedy 4 kernel and this is definitely the best combination I've used so far.

I still use the DrewGaren ROMS, they are plenty fast and stable, along with the latest Glados Kernel They seem to give me the best results.
Stand corrected. cybergr ics v3 is a really fast ROM, probably the fastest i've ever seen my phone, just need to update it to v2.8 Glados
Face Unlock is a cool feature. Unfortunately, our front camera is too bad to properly recognize faces. If you get lucky - in good light - you might be able to unlock it, but it really is no fun at all.

Works great. No radio flash needed. Install went smooth aside from a few derps on my part. Rom seems a bit laggy but I think it's just because it's reinstalling everything. other times it's blown me away by how fast it is. Face unlock works pretty well. love the interface. I can't believe it's android, its awesome!
I've tested almost every ICS rom's available and right now KANGY6 with MATRIX v14.5 CFS it's the best combo for me.
i'm getting 3000+ on Quadrant with 1.46Ghz OC
You may try the CYBERGR ROM it's also very stable and fast.

ok, I dun goofed. I think I restored a system app on accident thinking that it would restore my messages or something... but my mobile data quit working when i restored that stuff (multiple restores, but thought i was just restoring user apps not system). any idea how to fix the mobile data without re-flashing?
Edit: Fixed, but lost my conversations in my messaging. Oh well. At least the android gods love me again. Anyways this rom is great, it works perfectly! So smooth!
