Do a search in this forum for APN the apn that is on the phone doesn't work well yet in some areas. What you'll want to do is make a new APN with wap.cingular. There are several threads around that tell how to do it. Worked great for me.

Hi,
Many times a day network goes off for no reason.
I have to turn it OFF/ON or choose select network.
It is not a network problem because I have another phone on the same operator that do not have this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Saadi
I'm so haaappy to hear this from somebody else on this planet !!! (Thought I got mad)
Exactly the same problem, but only when in ROAMING.
The network goes off several times the day and the only option is to turn off and on the phone.
Another problem connected with Roaming mode is that when dialing a number, there is one dialing tone + second dialing tone (immediately after the first one, but its faster than a normal repeating one), which is extremely loud so that I get ear pains.
What to do guys?
I was talking to the PalmOne support using my support-ticket you can get with registration but he didn't hear about that and couldn't help me.
...that's so much pitty as I love the device
Try changing the 3g band to gsm under settings/phone/service/band selection that might help
Hi,
I tried to limite to UMTS but it did not work, passed it to automatique still did not work. Will try GSM.
I have noticed that I am having this problem only at work and home where I have a wifi router near by.
Could the wifi affect reception?

Shouldn't be possible as Wi-Fi is completely different radio band and there is technically no Wi-Fi corresponding element inside the Treo. But as I think this might be a bug (firmware?) why does so few people have this problem...
It is weared, I only have this problem at work and at home.
So they must be something that affect reception.
The only thing i can notice is the presence of wifi routers.
smmonla - have you got any news about this problem?
I tried to hard-reset, to change all the bands etc. but nothing helps.
There are no problems with my new Excalibur which is also very sexy, but still I want the Treo
Hi,
Still having the same problem.
As I have read, we are not the only ones having this problem.
I also like my treo a lot.
Hope palm has a fix for this problem soon.
have a look at here. It isn't a very hot news and doesn't really help me, but still:

I have noticed that when I limit the band to GSM, I do not have the problem anymore.
Could it be an OS problem?
And now we are on the subject of 2G versus 3G, there is at least one advantage with the S620 not being a 3G mobile. You are free from the potential problem that some 3G Smartphones become “confused” regarding the continuous switch between 2G and 3G radio masts. A 3G Smartphone sometimes loses the connection to the network completely, even though it looks like you are “on”. Numerous Qtek 9000/HTC MTeoR/HTC TyTN owners have experienced this problem because some mobile operators have not optimised their networks for these types of models. These problems should be on the decline, partly because of software updates from HTC and partly because of mobile operators beginning to solve their network problems.

good to know....
Traded my Inspire 4g for a unlocked SGS 4G and it works decent. Just disconnects from the AT&T network a-lot, but is there any way to get 3g speeds and better reception so i wont have to restart my phone every hour. i know AT&T runs on 850mhz and i believe 1900mhz but no matter what bands i change my phone to im stuck with 2G.
i used to have my sgs4g on at&t then i switched to simple mobile.what apn r u using? what i recommend you do to help with the connection is download apn manager from the marketplace it comes preloaded with a bunch of at&t apn's and see which one works best with u, or u can take it to an at&t store and ask them to set it up for u using their apn. hope this helps
Tried all the diffrent APN's i could find, it goes 2G or 1G.
i love the phone just wish it worked on at least 3g, if it did i would be content in life.

I unlocked an SGS4G for a friend about 2 months ago and he was on the AT&T network getting 3G speeds. I didn't have to configure any APN specifically. Put the SIM card in and it recognized right away.
This is in Vegas though, so not sure if it's a reception/tower issue where you are.
I did the same thing to a Vibrant for a friend as well. Same story, 3G coverage.
I can verify that 3g does work for AT&T on this phone. Im using it right now. I didnt have to do anything special except unlock it. I dont ever have to restart my phone either.
Someone help me understand how this is possible please.
I just got a new sensation today. I don't have 3G/4G in my area but so far I get the best signal with T-Mobile.
I was checking my speed via the stock browser with www.mobilespeedtest.com and here are my results.
I put my sim in an HD2 running WP7 and did the same test and get pretty much the same results. But there was one that just blew me away.
10728kbps ?????
They cant be true. Something is either wrong with the site or I need someone to help figure out how I make my phone have that kind of connection all the time even while not being in a 3G/4G area.
A Little Background. When I first got my device I used the kexec method to flash a unofficial CM mod and lost my IMEI. I manually injected it back into my phone and flashed back to stock.
Now, I constantly lose my data connection for 15-45 seconds all the time. It happens intermentantly and is driving me nuts. Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Try flashing another modem, for me when I had the G1 modem it dropped data quite a bit. But try all the ones you're not using because some modems seem to work better for other people.

Change apn from ehprd to lte and it will change you're signal from enhanced 3g to evdo rev a witch Is standard 3g....
I don't have lte near me and has tremendously helped my 3g signal to stay at the signal level my iPhone 4s is being a pure 3g phone....

Thanks for the feedback. I will search the forums for direction on how to do these things.
So when I first got my phone the APN was set to EHRPD, and I just checked (1 week later) and it's now set to LTE and I never touched it and I am running full virgin stock out of the box... is this normal? Does it auto-switch?
I hear the modem might be an issue for a little while...hopefully devs get it fixed soon.
So are people having better luck on the F2 modem or the G1?
After reading the forums in more depth I guess lots of people are having this problem.
Hi guys. I spent all day trying to get my MMS to send with 4g to no success. I noticed this only happened since i activated 4g, as with 3g everything was and still is OK.
My solution so far is not the most viable, which is adding to quick settings the LTE toggle.
by activating LTE, the opo loses network connection and only returns in a bit, this is why i say my solution is not the most viable. I would like to know if anyone experienced this and how you solved it. Could really use the help. Thanks
