Hi,
An update to Google+ is available today, and does not appear in my "apps to update" list in the market.
When I go to the app page on the market, I can select "Update", but after downloading, I have an error message like "Package signature verification failed".
Does I have to install the update manually, or this is a device configuration issue? (I'm on stock ICS, CWM 5.0.2.3)
Thanks
Updated correctly here (stock 4.0.3)
My bad, i restored market link with Titanium, and everything went fine...

Hello,
I am trying to update "Google Search/Google now" to the last version and I get an error of "Package file was not signed correctly". I tried to uninstall Google Search and then I get an "incompatible update". .
I have CM10 [bruce2728, 30Oct] with the last gapps.
But my question is NOT* how to update them (I can wait to a non-market update). The point is that I have 3 different android devices (Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy SIII -this last one is not mine. Just helping a friend to get root) and I put CM10 on them. And I had no problems updating Google Search on them. So my question is: why? The signature is not the same? I mean: there is only one package to download, so there should be only one signature.
Thank you
*well, any idea of how to update is also welcome
try to reflash the Google apps.
try the latest here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
regards
Hope someone out there can help this noob out.
I have a Galaxy Tab GT-p5110. Yesterday I rooted it, installed Titanium Backup and did a full backup.
I then installed CWM and managed to install cm-10.1.3 and a package of gapps.
Very happy so far to get all the bloatware off the unit but there is no play store in the gapps package.
I cant install any apps, I have tried to do this via the browser. it says installing etc but the app never appears.
when I try to update the rom via settings/about phone CyanogenMod Updates it downloads the new ROM and reboots but then aborts the install. When I try to install a gapps package it says it cant verify the signature file.
I guess the main fault is the lack of Play Store, without it you cant do anything.
I have Odin and cant find a file .md5 or tar file to install.
Edit: I have since found i can drop the Play Store .apk file and install it from the sd card, this process worked but when i try to open Play Store, it opens momentarily, then closes......
Any help much appreciated.

Went through your steps carefully a few times but Play Store still only opens for a brief second, then disapears, I didnt quite understand step 3, clear account. play store version is 4.3.10 and Android version is 4.2.2,
Kernel version
3.0.31-CM-gac1803c

Please help when you can, thanks and regards
Be sure you flashed the 4.2.2 gapps, the latest gapps (gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip) is for 4.3.

Ok, got gapps-jb-20130812 which is the correct one. went into recovery mode and selected "apply update from external storage" selected the file then I get:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Then it all stops and i have to re-boot. I think if i can get this package onto the device then all will be good,
thanks in advance for your help
Hi, i would recommend you to do the following:
1) Download cyanogen mod 10.1.3 stable(4.2.2 android version) and gapps package 20130812 which is compatible with that version of cm
2) Copy them to your sd card (internal or external)
3) Download a md5 checker ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135620 ) and verify that the files in your tablet have the right md5
4) boot into cwm, do a wipe data/factory reset (important), wipe dalvic cache and install cyanogen mod first and then the google packet
its important to make a factory reset as there are data in your tablet which will conflict with other versions of gapps
Solved
followed the steps carefully and it all worked fine, I cannot thank katsika and nasheich enough, you guys rock and roll.
Muchos Gracias
Hi,
I can't update to 4.4.2, because "TelephonyProvider.apk" has unexpected data. I'm not aware of any changes I did to it. Where can I download the 4.4.1 version? I found something here*, but it'll still not update to 4.4.2. Is there any other possibility of fixing this issue?
I use the Xposed Framework and AdAway, but deactivated both of them, rebooted and wiped the cache before trying to update.
Here is the whole message:
Code:
Installing: /sdcard/0/airdroid/upload/KitKat4.4.2.zip
Finding update package. . .
Opening update package. . .
Installing update. . .
Verifying current system. . .
" /system/app/TelephonyProvider.apk" has unexpected contents.
E: Error in /data/media/0/airdroid/upload/KitKat4.4.2.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Despite backing up TelephonyProvider.apk and TelephonyProvider.odex I can't use my N5 as a phone any more. The error message "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped." pops up every second or so. The only reason to avoid is is to enable Airplane mode. I copied the original files to /system/app using Root Browser, but it seems not to be recognized as installed. I can click on it and choose "Install". Anyways, after verifying the permissions it gets, there's a simple "App not installed." Sorry for being such a noob
I found it in this post. Now everything works just fine again
I have installed an apk file previously and now intend to install another updated apk file to my android phone. However the installation of the new apk file failed with message "an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed".
I had tried to uninstall the first apk and then install the new apk file but the installation failed with the same message appeared. My phone is not rooted. Is there any way to rectify the error ?
Thank you in advance.

I found another user who could fix a similar issue with YouTube.apk: [Q] Installing the new YouTube V5 apk Issues (task's AOKP).
Maybe it works for you too.
Alternatively you can check if the un-installed (first) app is really completely uninstalled. Maybe it's a system app which still has some left-overs in another folder and is just "de-activated" or "disabled".
However, completely uninstalling of system apps requires root access.
If you still have issues and you can't contact the app/update dev for help, you can post your questions in the Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Hello
I have a Samsung A8 (2018)
It started to appear the message "google play services has stopped working"
I searched online and it says to go and delete cache and data, uninstall updates, but it's impossible.
The phone continue crashing every few seconds and it go back in the main screen.
In Safe mode it's the same thing.
I deleted the cache from bootloader but nothing change.
What can I do to save data and not just reset phone from bootloader?
Thank you
Just an Idea : Connect the Phone to PC -> Put another Version of the "Google Play Services.apk" on your Phone and try to rush there from Filemanager on your A8 and try to install over the faulty Version (maybe this could work)
I tried, but I can't.
After a lot of tries I could go in filemager but installation failed.
I tried also from safe mode
Does the Installation fails because of different signature ? maybe try with (For Example) APK Mirror installer ?
I don't know. It just take a lot of time and then says "app not installed".
I will try with APK Mirror installer, if I will be able to install it...
EDIT
I was able to install "APK Mirror installer". but same. I can't install "Google Play Services" because it says the version installed is newer.
Actually is the same version (the last one, downloaded from another phone with apk extractor)
