Ok can anyone help me?
I have Rooted unlocked T869(it was for Tmobile but after unlocked i use it with ATT Simcard). I would love to have phone call capability(non of thos VOIP crap, just oem phone call).
I was wondering if anyone know how to flash european firmware(probably P6200 because it has similar 3g4g capabilty) to T869(tmobile version with 4g but no phone application). I think the two are similar so can anyone help me with this project?
Maybe some written guide, european firmware download link that can be safely flashed to T869?
Or maybe phone dialer apk for rooted tablet?
Thank you in advance.
Same question here, it is possible ?
Thanks,
Mike
this has been answered moe than a few times. tmobile variant doesnt have correct hardware and modem doesnt support voice(out of the box anyway).
flashing a p6200 firmware will likely cause tremendous problems. Like more than just ODIN'ing back to stock.
please be warned.
On another note, I highly recommend selling your tab and getting a p6200 w/voice & hspa+ I love it.
cool characteristic not mentioned very often, it an android smartphone with no soft buttons! very light and smooth and no need to worry about battery. excellent purchase. Can not say how it will work on tmobile though. If you have an unlimited plan you may be allright.

Are you sure it's not a confusion ? We talk about SGH-T869 ( Tmobile variant of P6200 - 7.0 Plus ) not old Galaxy Tab 7.0 ( P1000 )
Thanks,
Mike
1000% sure. Like the previous answer already explains the name of the device is the same but the internal hardware is different. The radio uses a different band and flashing the p6200 firmware over a th869 will for sure cause a brick
P_
So p6200 is same as T-Mobile but unlike tmobiles it could do voice?
Could it do us tmobike 3g as well?

So I'm in Bangkok this week, and I have my unlocked stock rooted Infuse 4G with me and my Tru Mobile Roaming SIM won't connect to the right network because the stock rom points to the default AT&T roaming partners, and when I try to manually select a network the manual selection is greyed out.
I read somewhere on here that going into app SamServMode and selecting debug and Debug Screen and Phone Control and Network Control then select Manual it doesn't allow for selection.
The issue is the phone is preferring a different network than my SIM has a roaming agreement with, so I need to be able to manually select. Anyone know of a solution without changing roms?
Thanks!
Anyone? I bought a local DTAC sim and it works fine since DTAC is the official AT&T roaming partner the ROM allows hooking on to it, but still can't use non-DTAC sims as the rom doesn't allow manual network selection
Bump.
Can anyone help her?

So I'm heading home to the states in 24 hours... but I do think this is an interesting topic hopefully someone can assist with. Seems that even when unlocked, a carrrier cannot be manually selected, leaving roaming limited to the carriers att allows even when using another carriers global sim. Seems a limitation of stock rom but is the first time I've seen this on a phone.
Bella i've got the solution for you...
Flash the rogers modem..
The att modems have this feature lockedout, so any changes revert back.... I can confirm that the rogers modem gives full access to changing the network and it does stick....
Do so by pressing *#2263# with rogers modem.... You can then manually select the network to lock onto.

Nice! Wish I'd known this last week, hehe. Just walked in the door back home from my Tokyo flight, dohh.
So how do I get and flash the Rogers radio? And why does typing this bring back memories from Airplane! ???

Just flash via cwm and you will be good to go...

Do I need to install modded 3E recovery first, or just flash it from a stock rooted state in CWM?
I've not flashed a new radio before on this phone, so a step by step would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Just out of curiosity do custom ROMs have this limitation?

Well I keep finding things that are limiting my experience with this phone. It's definitely been negative overall in comparison to my old Inspire 4g, which was so open, with many ROMs available, and none of the locked down attributes of this Infuse 4G.
So is it really the radio, or is it the ROM? And what are the upsides\downsides to flashing the Rogers ROM? I definitely need to be able to manually select my network, so if's become a non-issue, just need to know what the best way to accomplish it.
Advice\suggestions?
The limitations are built into the modem package.... Not the rom.
Right now the rogers modem performance (and when we say modem, we mean the modem software that tells the radio how to communicate with the network) is on par with the newest att modem with the only difference I can see it the being able to manually select any network.
Bella as for you, unless you rather use odin, to flash with clockworkmod you indeed need the modded 3e recovery and the I9000 version of cwm on your phone...

I installed mod'd 3e Recovery just fine, then flashed the radio posted above in this thread. Seems to have flashed fine, however the manual network selection is STILL greyed out. Any ideas as to why? Seems like another member who said the ROM (Stock AT&T Rooted) is responsible. Are you sure this isn't the case? Any idea as to why I can't manually select a network now?
Thanks!
Now with the Rogers Modem installed, when I go into Network Selection it still is greyed out and says "Default Setup" .. put in a foreign SIM that has both AT&T and T-Mobile USA provisioning allowed, and it doesn't let me select which to use.
:-(
Guess this doesn't resolve the issue. Anyone else have solution as to what I can do to get that Network Selection box available to use? This is the first phone I have ever owned that has disallowed access when I put in a foreign sim. It's getting really annoying dealing with Samsung's inadequacies between flashing and operational limitations, ugh. I would go back to HTC in a heartbeat if the Inspire 4G got better battery life. :-(

I seriously feel you on this one. And if there were good general alternatives on the market from other brands, but this year seems to be in the gutter across the board.

I'm just baffled. How is there not a solution that'll allow me to select the network I attach to? I'm not even an AT&T customer. I paid full price for my handset, it's fully unlocked, doesn't even have the AT&T radio anymore, yet I can't select the carrier in the carrier selection menu? I weep for the future of this country's wireless industry if the ATT\T-MO merger goes through.

Huh?
a) I'm able to use it just fine, why would you never buy it without contract? That makes no sense.
b) How are you having trouble unlocking it? It's the easiest unlock of any phone ever made. Doesn't get any more simple. Takes 10 seconds.
Hi guys.I have simple mobile sim card (which works with T-mobile towers) and I get galaxy sii gt-i9100 (universal version). the problem is I'm getting 2g (edge) speed only, I read that you can flash your radio firmware after rooting to get HSMA+ mode then you'll have the 3g\4g internet.I already rooted my device but I don't know what to do now!
please anyone can help?
I need some help about that too, I wish this post had more attention, and replies. So I'm kinda moving it up right now.
Btw it might be impossible for us to get 4g, but I'll be happier when I get 3g instead of 2g. so, I'm looking for a solution too, I'll keep you posted if I find anything helpful.

Hello all,
I got my P6800 in Malaysia and flashed to ICS with one of the official firmwares from the thread. I think its the HK one since it has chinese IME built in. I'm currently in UK and have a SIM under the mobile network 3. The reception I'm getting is really poor and unstable, and keeps on dropping while displaying messages like 'No service' all over the place. I never inserted a Malaysian SIM into the tablet before.
Some info under my device settings:
Model Number: GT-P6800
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: P6800XXLPW
Kernel version: 3.0.15-P6800ZSLP7-CL910862
Is it a hardware fault or can it be fixed at my end? My Tab pretty much lost half its functions if I can't make any calls or text.
Thanks in advance.
Any help? I'm still having very poor reception. This is driving me up the wall
Dude I think u need to flash another modem for best reception.maybe i can try australia rom modem think is lp7.try it and see how it's goes

Thanks for the sugggestion. So I need to flash to a different firmware from the offical thread? Woulnt the Uk one be more appropriate for me
i don't know much about modems, but this problem isn't really happening for honeycomb and ics devices, unlike gingerbread and froyo.
i have a Hong Kong tab and gsm works really well in Algeria (totally different operators and hardware)
do you have some special hardened case? it may cover the reception antenna?
otherwise you can try another rom and see if correct the problem.
best regards
Sifou
Galaxy Tab 7.7
Its happening even without a case. I will flash to a new ROM when I have the time. I really hope it isn't something hardware related, its gonna be troublesome trying to get it replaced.
in this case, i wish you good luck somebody
just make sure you follow the instructions. don't tick or untick anything by your own.
best regards

Hello,
I recently purchased a note 5 duos SM-N9208 from Taiwan. I was led to believe that the device was unlocked GSM, but had EV-DO capabilities. My understanding was that this would work on Verizon's network, because it had both radio chips inside. I was told by Verizon that "there is no approved way" for them to get me up and running on their network. The tech made a point of saying there is a difference between approved, and no way. This leads me to believe that something can be done. I'm wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me out. Phone is running original Rom, unrooted, and is basically useless to me right now, as I'm desperately clinging on to my unlimited data with Verizon. Is it possible to root the device, and flash the modem with Verizon note 5 baseband info? Any help anyone can offer would be very much appreciated.

Hi, and welcome to XDA!
When I looked up the specs on the Note 5 Duos, unfortunately it says nothing about CDMA. Having both "radio chips inside" can be taken two ways, in this case, this phone has the capability to handle two GSM carriers (and in this case, like most dual-sim phones, only the first SIM can do 3G/4G/LTE speeds).
Network Technology GSM / HSPA / LTE
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE
Speed HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE
GPRS Yes
EDGE Yes

It seems the only option (if you want to use this phone), is to join a GSM carrier like AT&T, T-Mobile, or one of their MVNO's (like MetroPCS).
Hope this helps.

Thank you, Joel! I'm excited to learn as much as possible from tgis forum. I actually changed over to T-Mobile, and have been good for the most part. The problem i'm having now is related to finding a way to flash the radio to all of their Rf's. I rooted, and attempted to flash the modem and bootloader from N920T, but it failed. I am still having a hard timr understanding why the identical hardware will not accept firmware from different model numbers. Again, very inexperienced, so it may be something very obvious i dont know about. If could offer any assistance, or provide and thread links that may be useful, i wpuld very grateful. Ive been searching nonstop, reading, and still cant seem to find a way.

Well, the hardware (particularly the modem) is not compatible, hance the failed install. You are lucky it cancelled out as you could have had worse problems on your hands.
The way i see it, you will have to wait for other regions for the Note 5 Duos to open up before you get flashing options. I would even question the need for that, if you get a decent range of bands with T-Mo (I am assuming you can get 4G).
If you want to explore further anyway, please check out this thread:

It did, thank you! I get decent service (including LTE) almost everywhere. Problem is, once I get to my.house, I go completely out of service. No call.I no text. It wouldn't be a big deal, but the Taiwanese phone doesn't have a way to turn WiFi calling.

Aha. That and no sign of the 700mHz band (which may not be part of your phone anyway, not just hidden by the current firmware).
Since the firmware would need deep support of Wifi Calling (or VoLTE), as in more than just an App, I am afraid you will have to wait until the Duos releases into an area with that support in their firmware (and hope that, that area's firmware doesn't disable a frequency you use).
Makes scraping all the lead paint[*] off the house the more manageable task, doesn't it?
[*] I really don't know if your house does indeed have lead paint. I am assuming it's coated in something metal, or concrete, which avoids typically high frequency radio waves from entering. I never had that problem with my house (which may be strange, since it was built in the 40's), but maybe creating ways to boost the existing signal may be in order instead.
Hi all,
Could someone please help me understand how the Galaxy Tab S2 is unable to conduct itself as a cell phone??
Please no comments about how the carrier doesnt "allow" it, or directions to VOIP solutions like Google Voice or Skype.
Why the fsck cant I EXCHANGE MONEY FOR A LARGE TABLET DEVICE THAT HAS A CELLULAR PHONE ON IT????
Why is this so hard??
In the past, similar issues were hacked by this community to allow unlocking from carriers...
I am just surprised that no answer exists and not even a cogent explanation of why it cannot be done.
I.E. I remember on some of my old phones the radio chip was frequency-locked in the cellular radio firmware. Then I remember people produced hacks to unlock/reflash the radio firmware... etc...
Can someone give me a good solid technical answer, please?
Thank-you, in advance!
Sitting on a $650 device that is half useless to me. I thought for SURE this was just a small-mod fix.

Typically, tablets do not have cellular function in their radio, they typically only use WiFi and mobile data, not cellular signal. It's a hardware thing, not a software thing, it can't do something that it does not have the hardware for, whether you like it or not.
You can install apps that allow calling and texting over WiFi but that's it.
