[Q] After upgrade to ISC, have no more service. - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Phone info:
Nexus S GT-i9020A
carrier:Fido
location:Canada
I was using the formels MIU os and everything was fine. I flashed Brainmaster's Stock ICS 4.0.3 and then lost signal. I can't search for networks nothing. I even tried installing the radio that corresponds to my phone, which I assume is UCKF1. I have gone back to MIU and STILL have no signal.
I've tried *#*#4636#*#* and selecting the band to USA.
When flashing other roms and kernels, this never happened to me. Any help please? Been trying to fix this since yesterday and now luck D'x

Probably the wrong radio. Download the full stock 2.3.6 for your device and flash only the radio from there.

I am actually haveing the same issue, seems to be efs is currupted...

You mean restoring from nandroid backup? That won't do the trick because CWM backup doesn't include radio. You have to use the full OTA package for your phone model.

[Q] Return to Stock for Nexus S

Hello there.
I would like to ask for your good help restoring my Nexus S. I'm actually really exhausted looking for answers and tried downloading programs (e.g. One Click Stock) already. I wouldn't try to poke you guys if I hadn't reached dead end. Painstakingly exhausted for the last 3 days plus the slow connection we have here.
Using One Click Stock by Michael Peerman, I'm stuck without a signal since it says that I'm on Sprint. Everything works except that I'm always without signal.
My phone is under Globe Telecommunications Philippines. Build Number GRJ22. Currently it is in Gingerbread 2.3.4.
I won't bother rooting it again. I just want a simple droid without the extra benefits of a rooted phone.
Any help pointing me to the right direction would be really appreciated.
just flash a stock rom! and that would make a stock nexus s! and if you want even more you can lock the bootloader again!! and about the signal try flashing another radio!

http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommana...s&name=Stock Images&deviceName=Google Nexus S
Hello There.
Thanks for the hot tip. I got it all back to stock.
I did was root the phone again,
installed ClockworkMod. > Mount USB to PC > on the clockworkmod folder I created new folder "backup". Then paste the Stock Rom.
Reboot to Recovery then install from zip.
Voila! It worked.
Very much thanks to everyone.
Stock is different baseband version
I had recently flashed an ICS rom and could not get my mobile data working after trying every single radio for my model I9020A.
So I used rom manger to download 2.3.3 stock GB as described in this thread. Now it is showing I have baseband version I9020XXXB1 and when I go to system updates it says my system is up to date. How do I update to newest version of GB and show the correct baseband version of my phone?

HELP! No signal/mobile internet

If anyone can help me and get this working, I will send you $5 via paypal.
Okay so I have fairly decent knowledge of roms/kernels/flashing etc. but I just don't know what to do to fix this problem.
It seems to have happened after I've;
Used the app - Network Speed Booster
Flashed a new rom
Changed the APN (Worked fine)
What I've Tried
- Flashing a new ROM
- Reflashing current ROM
- Flashing a different kernel
- Changing the radio band
- Resetting the APN to default
- A different SIM
Baseband - I9020XXJK8
Thanks to anyone who helps! If you tell me how to get it working, I will PM you saying that I will send you 5$ paypal.
Is the IMEI on the back of your phone (behind battery) the same as the one it shows you in settings -> about?
i had same issues

Thanks for the reply, I will try that rom and kernel now and will post results later.
why don't you just use the stock rom without any changes???!!! i haven't encountred issues since the 4.0.4 is out..
In this case i wouldn't bother with custom ROMs. Grab yourself a stock ROM from the sticky, do your backups and wipes (data/factory reset, format /system, format /boot) and then flash the FULL ROM from the sticky.
This will require you to reroot. I would throw the latest superuser.zip on your sdcard and flash that immediately after flashing your new ROM to make it easier for you.
Can you try a stock rom?
Here's a list.

When troubleshooting something like this, stock is by far the best option. He is free to do what he wants after the problem and cause are found and fixed.

Wifi and bluetooth not turning on

Hey guys,
My HTC One 4.4.2 Kitkat Wifi, Bluetooth and FM radio no longer work and will not turn on and stay in "turning on" mode.
I woke up one morning without any changes and my phone just could no longer use Wifi. I did a complete wipe of everything OS etc and flashed a new rom Android Revolution HD and wifi still will not turn on. I cleared the catche etc when doing this and flashed the boot.img
Since my phone is rooted it's warranty will most likely be void so fingers crossed it's something i can fix. Just seems weird how it stopped working out of the blue like this.
I have searched but most people with this problem seem to have it once flashing a new rom.

You should flash your phone back to full stock e.g. by running a RUU. Whats your HTC One model (m7/m8 free/carrier branded) ???

Been struggling trying to find a stock RUU also. Will that RUU work using TWRP as i thought to flash a RUU you only had to enter into fastboot mode,

[Q] Why am I not consistently connecting to LTE

Hello, sorry if this has been asked before but my phone has been having trouble connecting to LTE for some reason. I'm assuming it has something to do with my radios or something along those lines. My friend is able to connect just fine and he is on the same rom as I and he also has the same phone.
If someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome!
Thanks!

Did you flash the custom firmware with it too? If so that's likely the problem. Been hearing of a lot of radio issues from L gpe roms lately.
A factory reset in stock recovery (stock vzw recovery) usually fixes it.

The custom firmware seems to cause the issue worse than the 4.4.4 firmware. Most everyone seems to be having this issue but overlook. It also makes loading web pages really slow. Flashing the stock RUU and factory reset did not change anything, it seems the firmware is not right for Verizon phones.

That was just to start over, I then tried the custom firmware a few more times on multiple ROM's with the same results. Constant signal loss and slow data speeds.

That custom firmware should not be flashed to a vzw phone. I have no idea why he posted that firmware to be flashed. You can tell by the info.txt file that it was not.
The included wcnss was never intended to be used on a vzw phone for cdma/lte access.
Wireless connectivity networking subsystem.
OP, your best bet is to flash a stock Verizon RUU (this one works great and is for S-OFF devices), then once it is fully flashed, go into stock recovery and then do a factory reset (this is an important step, this is where you get your proper Verizon radio settings/files back!).
After that, you can go ahead and flash back to DH GPE without using custom firmware and you should be fully functional again with LTE.
And to repeat, you MUST do a factory reset from stock recovery, don't skip this step!

Yeah I think most who are using it are either lucky or do not care or notice the dropped, weak signals. I've tried everything more than once to get it working right and the results are always the same, it acts like it's the wrong firmware, cause it is lol. Some claim to have the same issues but ignore them. I need my phone to work no matter what ROM it is. Thanks for all your help bro I see you are willing to help us when in need, that is greatly appreciated. I hope users send donations your way, I sure will once i get ahead again.
Have you set your APP correctly.
So I just tried this and cannot get back into stock recovery to wipe data. Had to factory reset from hboot, that worked but not sure if it does the same thing as the one in stock recovery, please advise. Then tried to flash the stock recovery and it's still taking me to the darn red triangle with an exclamation point. I am going to continue and install LiquidSmooth 4.0 1-02 nightly after I flash custom recovery. I have searched but cannot find anything on our variant. Thank you all in advance.

LTE drops on and off
I think I have the same issue as OP. However, I'll go further and note that I notice this on ALL AOSP roms as well as the GPe rom. It's not so much that the connection is bad, it looks good. But it drops on and off randomly. I followed the instructions here to factory reset the firmware using the 4.4.4 ruu. It definitely seems to be better but I still have this issue in DH's GPe (stock kernel). Any further ideas?

That signal drop off issue happens to me on gpe ROMs. So far all the cm12 ROMs out there have had a perfect signal with good speeds for me. I think the signal drop off issue is something to do with the gpe ROMs.
Currently running blisspop newest nightly with 4.4.4 straight from RUU.

Suddenly extremely poor reception

I'm having major issues with reception in my house, and only on my 16 GB OnePlus One. When switching to my Windows Lumia 635 or my HTC One X+, I get fine reception-- but as soon as my SIM's in my OnePlus One, I start receiving texts extremely late, which is a problem with apps like WhatsApp which require text verification.
I'm running stock ROM. That's CM 12.0-YNG1TAS17L. Stock kernel, unrooted even (ever since I flashed it back to stock to try and fix the reception issues). I've also tried OxygenOS, BlissPop, and Exodus and none of those have fixed my reception woes. Thanks in advance!

You ever get this fixed? I recently took a trip to San Diego and noticed the poor reception there.. a friend of mine, who's also on T-Mobile, has excellent reception with his new HTC One. I, on the other hand, had horrible reception; sometimes none at all. I've manually flashed the latest radio and still no dice.

Yeah-- here's what I did:
1. Flash stock ROM.
2. Update to latest stock ROM version via the CM updater.
3. Install TWRP again if needed.
4. Followed steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-cm12-calls-sms-mms-deep-sleep-t3103193
I flashed both the modem and proximity packages after updating to latest stock, and I reflash every time there's a new stock update. Hopefully this works for you!
