Blackberry BT DUN Tether to any Android Mobile/Tablet - Android General

Hi All,
Me and Vampirexhunter have been working really hard for the past few days to bring you one of the First Blackberry Phone + Android Tablet tethering guide!
We have successfully connected our HP Touchpad using CM7 Alpha 3.5 to the Internet using our Blackberry Phones over Bluetooth DUN (Dial-Up Netwkorking)
For the time being, only Internet Browsing and Streaming works!
Downloading files is still broken as we still don't know what is causing this.
But we are working hard on finding a solution.
We are hoping to have a fully working BT Tethering Guide for Ya'll Blackberry Phones + Android Tabs Lovers by Christmas as a Gift to the Community!
Please stand by for more news!

P.S. Video coming shortly with Proof!

If anyone out there, think they know how to fix our little problem.
Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Great.
Will it also work on a Wm6.5 smartphone? I want to tether it to my Galaxy Tab 7 Plus (android 3.2).

Looking forward to this.
Given how crappy blackberry email is these days it would be nice to have another use for my bold.

hi guys, how's the project coming along? Really anxious to get my smartphone connected to company BB and data plan via bluetooth! You guys rock, thanks!

New to forum... would appreciate any guidance

hello all, i read the basics and trying to get my feet wet. for starters i tried setting up a profile with my info but non of my versions are on drop down lists.
i have:
siemens sx66
rom 1.33.10
radio1.02.10 (what does it do to update radio? i search for explanations but no luck)
extrom v. 1.33.110
model ph20b1
should i just enter all this in my signature?
please advise.
In the profile you can only choice from 2 devices its a limmatation of the system, most of us use the signature to pass on that info.
You have a BA and wiki is strong on the BA.
learning slowly
thanks for the response, i thought about that last night and came to that conclusion. i posted a few other things and hopefully in a relevant forum.
i continue to read how to's hopefully something will get through my thick skull.
i was going to try a radio update since it seams i can do the least harm with that one. that ok for tutorial type walk through?
i saw there is a 1.15 available.
i have no personal info on mine yet, just received it.
would it be worth while going to wm 5.0?
i was going to try to stay with 2003 for speed purposes.
thank you again for assistance, have a great day
woody
And remember the Golden Rule:
Always use the search function before asking anything.
And
Always post the links to spam in "trash"
yea, i got the main rules down, but...
that doesn't mean i have enough knowledge to know if i am posting something in the appropriate area. i'm a fairly consciencious user but with as little knowledge as i have it's a dangerous thing.
thank you all again for the help/advice/experience
gonna do my best not to get on anyone's last nerve
have a great day,
woody
Hi Woodalia!
First, welcome to the forum!
Second, don't worry too much, if you post by mistake n the wrong place people will forgive you. Just try not to post same thing in multiple forums.
As for switching form 2003 to WM5 there are a few points to consider:
1. Speed, you already know about. It might be worth waiting for a while I think there will be improvements on the issue in the future.
2. Features such as A2DP, push mail, better office apps. If you don't need those don't bother with the upgrade.
3. ActiveSync, wile you have WM2003 you can sync with versions 3.7 / 3.8 which has sync over wifi option and seems to connect a bit faster then 4.1 (no network search)
I recommend you search the BA forum for people who upgraded and can report any problems / bugs. Every update fixes some issues but creates others.
Good luck.

HTC Magic VS iPhone 3G S

So I finally thought the HTC Magic was the new phone to buy cause of it's wonderful features (Digital compas, buildin GPS, 3,2MP Camera, HDSPA 7,2 downlink etc.) and opensource OS Android!! of course. My Vodafone subscription almost ends and I was almost convinced that this phone was the best choice to followup my crappy, almost broken, 2-year old ELF. Now Apple just introduced the new iPhone 3G S which also has a lot of new features that make it really worth to doubt the HTC Magic. Checkout and compare all the features of the Magic and 3G S yourself and decide! Ain't that a hard choice?!
Of course I'm aware that I'm posting this topic @ a developers forum where most users are probably more pro HTC then Apple but I'm just curious what you guys have to say to convince me not to step over to a !p40n3
Not again............
Please not again
comparatives with iphoney again and again....
No please!!!!!
my mistake

Dont worry mate
It´s just because there has been so many threads comparing iphoney that I´m kinda sick of it
But dont worry, this is a very friendly site and all can be discussed
I´m sure this thread will be moved to off topic
Read and enjoy
Hi & welcome to xda! Here's some recent iphone 3G S info & chatter:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523846

clarification from site admins please

hello all,
having now moved to a HD2 (and am very happy with it!)
i got to thinking of trying to help others on XDA
i want to ask: can i offer my old kaiser for sale (spares/repairs) on the kaiser forum?
the phone itself works fine but the casing is knackered so if someone wanted spares to fix their kaiser etc etc.
i also have a Ted baker edition 'elf' which im bored with, again works fine, but dont need it anymore...
just checking if thats ok before i go and post it
Hi,
I´m not an Admin but I am sure you can use marketplace to sell your devices
ah ok, thank you orb (forgive my blindness LOL)
i was thinking it would make more sense to list them in their respective forums????
that way it gets straight to the right people :s
The Marketplace was created to have a central location & rules for selling devices on XDA. It prevents having threads all over the place & them not being monitored for validity!
thank you!
Orb is correct. The marketplace was created for a centralized location for users to sell devices. Helps us monitor the forums for your protection against bogus or fraud sellers
nice one, cheers fellas!

Nokia n95 2gb version Tethering

Hopefully I am posting in the right thread.
I have an Andriod and the USB Tethering works like a charm. I even used an application so I don't use the USB in-case I forget and/or my friend wants to use the internet and works like a charm.
However, what if we have a Nokia n95 2gb version and it isn't a droid. How do I get tethering on this phone? Is there an application or is there a software I must install to my computer and hook it up to my laptop/desktop to access the internet.
I have unlimited data-plan so I don't have to worry about my bill going higher than my income a month.
I have searched and all the tethering is pointing at the droids.
Just notice this is in the wrong section. ^^... Too much forum...I got confused with the "General" part. Thinking I can discuss anything in here.
Moved to global Q&A by request from OP
Thank you for moving the thread.
Can anyone help me with this situation?
For a popular community. No answer.

The knowledge to root/hack a blessing or curse?

So a couple of months ago I purchased my first android phone (my nexus) to specifically root and flash. I tried many roms and have had a jolly good time here at xda.
Now here is the small dilemma that I'm facing with all this new found knowledge of rooting phones. Ever since I rooted my gfs inc2, she goes around telling everyone that her bf(me) is the one to call for smartphone tech.
Yesterday I just rooted and flashed miui on her coworkers Droid 2 global. Btw that phone was a ***** to work on, I had to go to read like 5 different forums to get the corrects steps to flash gb roms.
And now just today my gf is asking me if I could jailbreak her brothers new iPhone 4.
Yeah I'm in no way mad about people asking me for help but I guess I'm now the phone guru that everyone relies on. I do enjoy working on different phones, and flashing roms are always fun.
I'm wondering if anyone else on xda has turned into the go-to-guy for smart phone related tech?
Sent from my ICS Nexus S with 4 gs
+1
And it all started with an hd2
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
In the same boat... Ask for money and see how quickly the people will start to disappear haha.
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy SII

Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.

Yes.
I have been in this position. Mostly due to my root and rom changing need. Always people asking me to jailbreak their iphone/ipod (Easy if you ask on google, aye?) Currently I am on ICS(Android 4.0) on Samsung Galaxy S2.
Thanks for your time.
