guys any idea abt gtalk video chat support. I upgraded to 2.3.6 but dint get it. Otehr phones(like sony errickson neo v ) supports gtalk video chat from 2.3.4. plz help
About gtalk in our i9003... Bad news. At this moment no work in our i9003. You can install this version: http://www.multiupload.com/ZIC4YI1F3Y, from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388449, but not work well. Send video well (only rotation issue) with the front camera but only if we put the mobile in landscape mode turning to the left, in vertical mode, i9003 reboots. But doesn't send sound. The same happens in the hangouts of google +, vertical phone = reboot, landscape to the left = rotated video and no sound but not reboot.
And about videocalls, more bad news. In Froyo only works well Tango, and in Gingerbread, no app working well making videocalls. In gingerbread, the best that you can use is Skype, (audio ok and video ok, only rotation problem).
I hope some devs can help us, and make videocalling 100% functional in ours i9003...
This is the only feature I want in my mobile.

Hi!
Is there any Android app that enables high-quality video calls (like Skype) to other users on a desktop computer that works with the Galaxy Tab and its front camera? I don't care if this would imply a certain ROM.
Skype including video support doesn't seem to be available for Android, neither does GTalk (am I right?). I tried vtok to do a video call to a GTalk Account but the video quality was awful.
Any ideas what I might try?
Thank you in advance!

Try this:
http://www.oovoo.com/
For PC, Mac, Android and I think that it is also available for iOS
The android app runs fine in my Galaxy tab but I haven't tested it on a video call
Are you running gingerbread? Get the talk installer from the market to have working video chat through gtalk.

for chat i only use google talk. get talk 1.3 installer from the market or find the apk on xda and push it to /system/app and rename the stock talk apk to talk.apk.bak or something
+1 for gtalk - install a Gingerbread ROM and use the Talk 1.3 Installer app from Market.

Skype w/video chat works fine on Gingerbread ROM's. As does GTalk with the "talk 1.3 installer" from the market, Kik, Tango, and you can record video from the FFC with the stock Samsung camera app or the stock CM7 camera app.
I use Skype. Works good. So does yahoo.

Audio/video chat support came to gtalk for android as early as android v 2.3.5, but some manufacturers still omit it in their ROMS, dunno why.
If your phone is rooted, you can try installing InfectedRom V1 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449318
It has Gtalk audio/video chat built in, and also free of samsung's bloatware. I have used it for a few weeks, works like a charm.
Use Vtok
You can use the app Vtok which is freely available in Market.
I have used it and it works fine for a free app.
Hope this helps.

Can anyone help? I am running Hellfire Phoenix's newest rom on my g2x and i can not make video calls via messenger, skype, ext, ext. I'm sure its a setting and not the rom.(rom is awesome) I have searched for a week and can not find an answer. I have noticed some users only had the back camera working with a video call but there was a fix for that. My problem is no matter what app i use i do not have the option of video calling only voice or text. is this a missing driver problem? its like my camera's are not seen using any app for video calls.
Thanks
HF Phoenix is ICS based or GB? If ICS based, that's the problem

Gtalk requires front facing camera for video chat, you may try vtok app from play store, I'm not sure it will work or not.
power the droid
unstable app

i am using that application only long time but no use. it does not support out going call in my phone. also highly unstable one in this phone frequently the application FC.
I installed the new TALK from gapps for cm7 package its really work fine in my phone. except some bugs like mute micro phone button not work. This is really nice than the talk come with phone. not yet tested the Video call because no webcam in my system but video buffered from the phone to pc with little lag.
the talk app version you mentioned can handle video chats with rear cam, bt it can't initiate a video chat, if your friend initiate it will work. I tried once and it was fine bt I forgot was it vtok or gtalk
power the droid
Yes it uses rear camera but video call works fine both income and outgoing. Vtok is only facing that problem in my device.
